Hello everyone, I wonder, is it just me, but I cannot find many Chinese on the internet to watch. I have no statitics for my guess, but maybe 40% of all drama is Japanese, 40% Korean, and then Honk Kong, Taiwan and China share the last 20%. So, I assert that it is difficult to find in general good Chinese drama to watch. With Korean and Japanese drama there is plenty to choose from, but that is not the case with Chinese drama. Are not there that many subbers with knowledge in Chinese or what is the reason? Also, often the quality on the videos are bad and it is imposssible to get full screen, since typed Chinese characters need space. Any ideas?
If you can understand or read Chinese, then actual Chinese websites have a plethora of Chinese dramas on them. So there are actually plenty available...just not for a non-Chinese speaking audience? My guess is that there isn't much of a demand. Heck, Japanese dramas are quite popular but many still go un-subbed. I've noticed that K-dramas tend to get subbed as quickly as the day of airing, but Japanese dramas usually take a week or more, sometimes even months and many don't get subbed at all (though I don't use subs for J-dramas). So maybe it's just supply and demand? There's likely a supply, but not much of a demand. I wouldn't say that there is a lack of knowledge in the language(s) Mandarin Chinese is actually a widely spoken language.
Viki and Gooddrama have quite a few Chinese dramas. :)

I think it's easier to find Chinese movies with English subs than the drama though. Especially the martial arts movies.
I have recently gotten interested in Chinese dramas & I am finding it difficult to find any to download in good quality with decent English subs. Korean dramas are much more readily available I find.
Look at here... awesome free site!

There are some sites that english sub the popular ones lately, like http://doramax264.com/category/c-drama/ and http://www.avirtualvoyage.net/dramas.
For raw versions, many chinese dramas are uploaded onto Youtube and you can also check out http://maplestage.com/.
http://gooddrama.net/ also has a lot of Chinese/Hong Kong dramas subbed.
The Palace 2: The Lock Pearl Screen -- I can't find this English subbed anywhere! It says it's subbed on YouTube but they're not. Anyone know where I could find this subbed or even buy the DVD maybe…?
Chinese is super hard to translate, only the most popular dramas are fully subbed even there you can find a lot of things still not translated/proper as the same words/sentences have way too many meanings.
You can find a lot of chinese dramas here : http://kissasian.com/Country/China
