The Story of Ming Lan is one of mine phenomenal favorites but I can think of something really similar :(

woman-centered non-fantasy drama I can think of  in addition to the dramas you've metioned are:

• Nothing But Gold Can Stay
• Legend of Miyue
• The Rebel Princess
• Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan
• Cuo Dian Yuan Yang

I do wanna recommend some period dramas:

• Arsenal Military academy
• Battle of Changsa

these are not anywhere near Story of Minglan in narrative, probably The Sword and the Brocade is the nearest. but with the sword and the brocade, I've also put it on hold since the subtitle are not complete and it has not finished airing.
