Movies/dramas in late 80's early 90's describing Japanese faith in economical superiority?

That's a long title but anyways and it's a bit hard to explain, but for example in anime set in that era imagination of Japanese techno-commercial domination is common. For example in Cyber City Oedo, Ghost in the Shell, Angel Cop, Gundams, Starzinger, Galaxy Express, Space Battleship Yamato... you know, giant zaibatsus running everything and robots and advanced weaponry and mega-Tokyo and so on. From western cinema there is Black Rain which comes close to what I want.

@sylwia: no not even close anything like that. Japanese (and many others) really believed back then that their hightech and economical boom would continue uninterrupted, and that they would overtake USA as worlds largest economy and technological superpower way more advanced than anyone else. Gundams are a reflection of that thinking.
