We can't resurrect Bernard Herrmann, but there still are some amazing movie score composers out there who truly manage to speak with the notes and tell stories that perfectly complements the scenes. I'm thinking of Yann Tiersen, Michael Nymann, Gabriel Yared, Dario Marianelli and others. They may not be as grand or brilliant as some of the masters, but I still love them for creating magic.

So sad I can't add Ryuichi Sakamoto to the list, since he announced his retirement from the music world. Another terrible loss, imo.
Check Empress Ki OST. it's one of my favourites so far!
@amrita828 - oh my yessss.  Those are some great musicians you mentioned.

And actually, I'm pretty open to good kpop too, as it's a genre that's growing on me.  As long as the series doesn't put 2-3 main themes on loop for 30+ episodes lol.

Master's Sun has me hooked - it's over ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).  Even the short transitional motifs are alluring and that first Ep was really impressive.  What a start.
In case you're interested, Joe Hisaishi actually composed the original soundtrack for The Legend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7zq6u1o2PY.

Yae no Sakura has a good soundtrack that fits the scene, I think, and the opening score is written by Ryuichi Sakamoto: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MuPWFyd7Bg
Six Flying Dragons
Queen Seon Deok
Secret Love Affair
The princess man
Missing Noir M

films
Oldboy
Sympathy for lady vengeance
The classic
Several that came to mind have already been mentioned, but I don't think anyone's mentioned The Devil...

I second (or third or fourth) Bridal Mask, Missing Noir M, Arang and the Magistrate, and yeah, that theme song for Legend is pretty epic too. :)  A good score without too much emphasis on sappy ballads or pop music where it doesn't fit perfectly is my ideal drama soundtrack.

There are some songs on the Late Night Restaurant (kdrama) and Signal soundtracks that I like a lot too (with vocals, even).  Just a bit different from the standard pop and ballad-heavy soundtracks that we usually get.
