Finally i have completed YI SAN!!!! People this is the LONGEST DRAMA EVER I`V WATCHED. Don`t get me wrong i loved it, the length was not really called for thu. I think they could have cap it around 50 episodes the most. The Music was very good but i gave it an average score due to the limited variety, it was the same song over and over. The rewatch score cut due to the length and not the quality.
Its a beautiful story of a hard working king, whom loved his people with his very life. He is truly one of Korea`s greatest ruler. Yi san tells the story of King Jeongjo, or Yi San, the 22nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, revered in Korean history

  • Both dramas are historical. The love stories are very similar: between a poor girl and the king. Despite the fact that she is poor, she is also intelligent and very beautiful so she gains the king's attention and heart. The OST is extraordinary! Both of them worth watching!

  • these shows are completely different shows but have little things in common... palace is about a woman who travels back in time... but the common ground is a maid who eventually marries a royal, and about the schemes of concubines/consorts who schemes and plots for the throne... palace my be more on the comical side at times...

I'm a huge sageuk fan but this didnt do it for me...for most parts it was so boring espeically the politics bits I had to skip through so many episodes! The only thing that kept me going was the romance between Song Yeon and the King...it was lovely but as a whole my least favourite sageuk so far.

I really like the Prince, he tries to be kind and yet has to be prepared for tough fights. The music is beautiful too. The story can become frustrating with some of the arcs and some of the decisions of the prince. Let's just say he tries to be wise in his decisions and tries to have a very open and loving heart. Really do like him personally. Expect a lot of usual court intrigues but some very likeable and less likeablle characters, loyal friends and enemies out there to get the protagonist at all cost all the time- they are rather inexhaustible in their efforts too, which also may give you a sense of frustration. The love storyline is one filled with a great sense of longing and need, it's quite touching. Yi San is a real man.

I'm watching it now. Watched first 10 episodes.
No fight scenes, no action, quite slow-paced. From this point of view, it's different from Queen Seon Deok and Jumong, it's more similar to Dong Yi and Jewel in the Palace.
I didn't really like Dong Yi either, but I liked Jewel in the Palace.
