She dropped out of Seijo Gakuen High School and graduated from the Sun Design Institute and Ito Clothing Research Institute Design Department. After living in Italy, she established a design company but started assisting Kurosawa Productions following her mother's death.
While her father, Akira Kurosawa, was alive, she worked at Kurosawa Productions as his secretary. In 1988, following her father's advice, she entered the film industry and became responsible for costumes in Kurosawa's films starting with "Dreams."
In 2019, she received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (Art Encouragement) Award (Film Division) for costume design in the film "Shoplifters."
Currently, her eldest son manages the office as the president, her second son assists her directly, and her third son pursues his passion for painting, each providing their support in their respective roles.
