Tomita Katsuya is a Japanese director and screenwriter born in Kofu, Japan. He won the 2011 (66th) Mainichi Film Awards for best film and directing.

After graduating from high school, he saved money to make films by working as a construction worker and a truck driver. For three years, with an 8 mm camera, he spent his weekends making his first film with his childhood friends as actors.

He is one of the co-leaders in the film production group "Kuzoku".
