Unique point of view

This is a very unique drama. It is a romantic drama for sure but there’s so much more to it than the romance between the two leads. The first thing that struck me was that it focused mostly on the male lead and his journey of self-discovery, love and ultimately happiness. The female lead loves him, encourages him to follow his dreams and supports him. It was a very relaxed binge worthy drama without evil side characters or annoying family. I loved the chemistry between the two leads. It was refreshing to watch a non-toxic relationship where two people begin as friends and slowly progress to love, while supporting and respecting each other.

Too long

This story revolves around 3 women and their relationships with not only the men they love but also with each other. I was very surprised to see the reality of what goes on in a relationship such as arguments, money troubles and even domestic violence. Most Chinese dramas I have watched don’t touch upon these and there were moments where I found myself truly shocked. I was also surprised and glad at the way they portrayed the 2nd male lead who happened to have Asperger’s. Most countries outside of the US tend to not have such a positive view in Autism. Both male leads are so handsome (RIP Godfrey Gao), the chemistry between the ML and FL was on point (oh those kisses).
There were only two negative things in this drama. The mother, oh my goodness I wanted to smack that woman. Her rants were way too long, and she was just too hateful and for them to portray her as having a change of heart in the end was annoying. Also this could have had at least 15 less episodes. By the time I got to episode 20, I was about to drop it. I ended up jumping from episode 23 to episode 30, skipping skipping scenes until about episode 33. The last few episodes had my full attention and you don’t want to skip anything at that point. I recommend watching it, do your own self editing and enjoy the eye candy.

Not something I would usually watch

I’ve been in a drama slump lately so I gave this movie a try. It was realistic and you could pretty much predict what was going to eventually happen. So you think! The ending though… I wasn’t expecting that. But I’m ok with it. Give it a try and watch how your emotions change throughout the movie.
I have to get to 500 characters so I guess I must continue here..The acting was pretty good on all parts and I loved seeing some of the usual actors that normally play the parents too. The music was decent, nothing extraordinary.

I almost forgot I was watching a C-drama

If you’re looking for the typical romantic comedy where the FL is silly and dumb this isn’t for you. Prior to this I actually stopped watching another new drama because the FL was exactly like this. This is a story of 2 people who fall in love in spite of their deficits/shortcomings. I loved how the storyline focused mainly on them. There were no evil plots or side characters. Sure there was some cliches that you would normally find such as someone getting a cold and the separation period but it didn’t feel like they were overdoing it. The style reminded me more of a k-drama minus the ski ship. I found myself actually watching it instead of skipping through scenes. I got a little worried on episode 19. I thought it was a little creepy and that the storyline was gonna go downhill from there. Thankfully they somewhat recovered but it did leave me scratching my head. From then on even though I still enjoyed it I do wonder if someone else wrote the rest of the story. On the most part I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and it’s story and highly recommend it

A feel good drama

Ok so I have watched dozens of dramas from China and Korea. This is my first Japanese one. This is also the first review I have ever written. It may not be my favorite drama but it is now probably on my top 5. This show made me want to take a look at other Japanese dramas. Some people may think that the FL was too childish but I don’t think so. Her bubbly personality was what made people like her and what broke through the ML’s stone heart. As a nurse myself, I was really impressed by the accuracy when it came down to the nursing part and the medical terminology (something you don’t see in American shows). Even though she loved the ML at first sight (starting off as a childish infatuation), the timing on the romance was neither too fast or too slow. It was perfect. Even though I wanted it to go on an on, I’m glad of the simple 10 episodes. Maybe it’s because it didn’t have this long side plot and villains, which would have caused a major distraction. Do yourself a favor and watch this show.

Wow

Most C-dramas I've watched are really nice to watch in the beginning but by the middle of it, no matter how much you like it, you just have had enough of it and skip, skip, skip until the very end. That's not the case with this one. 16 episodes was perfect. Usually I find myself skipping minutes at a time, I didn't do it at all here. This is definitely not your usual C-drama. The female is not stupid or immature, there is no love triangle, no repetitive scenes orscenarios., and she doesn't let him walk all over her. I usually don't care for flashbacks but in this drama they were a perfect way to know their past history without adding on another 30 episodes. The best part was there was a lot of tender moments between the leads. No fake kissing. Something you won't find very often in a C-drama. They had amazing chemistry. Sure the ML comes off as cold, possessive, jealous, but the way he warms up to the FL and the way he looks at her...it makes you melt. Even the second couple was enjoyable to watch. It's been a while since I have enjoyed a C-drama like I did this one. Be prepared to binge watch it.

I wanted to love it

I love the main actor and was excited over this drama. Unfortunately a third into it I found myself wanting it to end. The females in this drama are hysterical, and immature. The female lead drove me nuts with her baby talk once she was in a relationship with the male lead. I fast forwarded a lot, something I rarely do. I guess I lucked out with the previous 2 C-dramas where the FL actually were consistently smart. Don’t get me wrong, the story itself was beautiful and the reason I gave it an 8, but this drama was too drawn out and couldn’t have easily been cut to 20 episodes.

I can’t believe I waited to watch this

So the synopsis is a little misleading. I brushed off this drama for a long time thinking that it was going to be about a gold digger trying to get back with her now rich husband. I’d been in a drama slump for a few days and decided to give this one a shot thinking it was going to be about this woman’s funny antics in order to get back with her ex. Well, I was wrong. This is a story about a young couple who divorced due to a lack of communication and misunderstandings. Although there is definitely plenty of cute and funny moments from both of the leads, I saw it more as a journey of healing and learning how to communicate. Great performance from both leads.

Cute but not as good

I watched this with an open mind, not expecting a sequel. The romance was sweet and the chemistry between the two was pretty good. The one thing that irked me was some parts where they were retelling the same story but putting in Wu Bai instead of Han Shanyan. I am glad that they cast a different actress as the former Appledog was beautiful but way too old for him. If you haven’t watched the former GGS you can easily watch this one and may actually enjoy it more but I personally still like the first one better and will be rewatching it when I want to feel the fuzzies.

Original

I can’t believe I kept putting this drama off for so long. Once I began watching it I couldn’t stop. The story line is very original. It will keep you engaged, wondering, hoping, guessing. Although I wouldn’t see this as a comedy there were moments I laughed out loud. I don’t want to sound repetitive in writing what other reviews have already said. So I will say what impressed me the most. First of all, the ML and FL had amazing chemistry. Sizzling kisses. Of course the fact that Marcus is the ML helped a lot. His acting was on point. Loved his little smirks and the times he spoke a little English was adorable. The FL was cute, quirky I guess a “weirdo”, but endearing as hell. Unlike a lot of FL she was also smart. The music was really good. I normally don’t focus so much on the music, but I really liked the music, especially the opening theme song. The only con in this drama were the business parts. I understand that it is a big part of the story but towards the last few episodes I kept skipping past them. Maybe because the episodes were so long I just wanted to get to the parts where the leads interacted. If you’re looking for an original and sweet love story, then give it a try.

I can’t believe it took me so long to watch it

This drama has been on my watch list for a while and I finally decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did. At first I thought like others “man these guys are ugly”. Then I slowly got sucked. I am a sucker for former playboys who finally meet their match. If you like that sort of story, then this is for you. It was fun watching these guys and their antics. I found myself laughing quite a bit. The funny parts are not your typical “silliness” but instead something you could totally picture in real life moments. The romance and relationship development is also more life like with its moments and difficulties. This is not your typical melodrama but feels more like a fun journey and you end up rooting for the couples.

Binge worthy

Finally a C-drama without a dumb/silly female lead. It was enjoyable from beginning to end watching the development of the relationships (including the 2nd leads). There was not only romance but some action too without the angst and crazy parents. The female lead was able to be funny without being stupid or immature. Huge plus! I enjoyed the funny moments and found myself chuckling quite a few times. I liked the fact that the we got to watch the main couple interact in ways most couples in love do with joking, gentle teasing, a healthy relationship. The beginning of the drama reminded me of Our Glamorous Time and the rest gave me the feels like My Little Happiness. Give this drama a chance.

It was good until it wasn’t

I’m a big fan of Dating in the Kitchen so I was excited over this drama. It started off pretty good, I binge watched the first 30 episodes and then I found myself skipping a lot. First of all, the synopsis says that the sisters are twins but in fact the “pretty” one is a year older. The story starts by showing you how vastly different their personalities are. One is sweet and innocent the other one very self centered and materialistic. Of course I truly hated that sister lol. Both the male and female leads were fun to watch and their chemistry was there. I thought the romance was going to be a slow burn, start off as friends and then the flames would ignite the screen but sadly it wasn’t so. There was alot of tender moments such as hugging and the longing gaze once they got together but no kissing. Seriously what the heck??? Sorry there was one accidental peck on the lips, you know, the trip and fall on his lips type of thing. And that was it. A lot of time was spent on the business part of the drama and it’s evil characters. A lot of back stabbing, plotting, miss understandings. I hated the second leads. The “pretty” sister was like I said self centered. The nephew was spoiled and whinny. Too immature for his role as a chairman. The last few episodes brought on too much anxiety and I found myself skipping, skipping, skipping to the end to get a happy but bland ending.

Sizzling passion

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review on here and after watching many dramas I felt compelled to write one. First of all, I would like to say that this drama was several notches above your typical C-drama. Was the plot perfect? Not at all. In fact I found there were plenty of moments I found my self scratching my head. I mean we all have cell phones now a days.
I know a lot of people will feel creeped out by the age gap. But hey my husband and I have an 18 year difference and have been together for 20 years.
Why I loved this drama:
Jerry. His acting, his passion, the way he conveyed his emotions, had me smiling. He’s sexy too lol.
The FL. I know a lot of people think her too childish but if you think about it, she’s the way a 20 yo would be. You could feel her happiness and her pain. Love her or hate her I found her to be an excellent actress in this drama.
The cinematography has to be one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
They have very good chemistry
The OST is beautiful. Every song is perfect for the part it is played. I am hoping I can get some of the songs on Apple Music.
Your emotions will go on a rollercoster ride. And unless you read up online, you don’t know how things will end until literally the very last second.
As much as I loved this drama, I don’t know if I could handle to watch it again. I haven’t cried over a drama since Fated to Love You.

Very importantly:

On the very last episode. Make sure to keep watching past the end credits.
