As a Gong Yoo fan, I was gobsmacked.

Okay. Let me tell you this, I am a big Gong Yoo fan. I'm part of the older generation where I get to watch kdramas VCD days. And I've watched all Gong Yoo movies and dramas and knew that he will always be that movie and TV star A-lister.

So I watched this while it was still airing and I am already utterly disappointed within a couple of episodes. I already knew what's gonna happen. The pain they're trying to go through for the Tokkaebi to find someone who will actually and finally can kill him. His bride. Nice premise, but you won't get surprised where it took you because it was set up right at the beginning. Even with the characters. The moment Kim Min Jae's character went into the screen, I knew who he is in the present. Because who else would it be? Everything was just so obvious.

What really made me held on was of course, Gong Yoo, and the adorbs KGE, although I'm not really in love with the ajusshi thingy.

So yes, to give it a chance before going here for ratings, I watched it again, and feelings remained the same, if not even lower. I am so sorry.

The cinematography was top-notch.

The music was also so so so so good. The scoring. The OST. Main OST was an earworm,

But that didn't actually save the drama for me.

Will I watch it again?

Maybe not.

I guess I was really not a fan of writer. Maybe the last drama that I liked from her was Secret Garden, which actually took me three years to finish. I dropped it two times in two years, until I picked it up.

But this, I'm not sure why I held on and was disappointed still.

This is my opinion.

Easily the most intricate drama ever

I'm not sure where to start because I've watched this immediately after it was aired

It took me a while before I actually absorbed every detail and every character. And it was so difficult. I need to keep tabs of their names, and search every now and then about the characterization, very very carefully because I don't want to be spoiled. It was a chore.

But believe me, once I digested everything, it made perfect sense. Every decision. Every feeling. Every character started becoming so palpable and suddenly, I was already in the world. I realized that finally, after obsessing over Bu Bu Jing Xi, I finally found something that will caress my heart, and back then, it has also invaded my mind.

The goosebumps I got in this story can't be counted. Hu Ge was spectacular. And this is the drama that made me fall in love with Wang Kai.

I couldn't find any more words to say but this is a very intelligent drama. But with a heart.

I just put a little less on the rewatchability because even though I've rewatched this a few times, it's very painful that I don't come back immediately for more. But still, I know I will rewatch again. Some time in the future.

Brought my cdrama faith back

Forgive me for mentioning another amazing drama in this review, but I just want to point out that after watching NiF several years back, I thought I wouldn't be able to find something that I will invest so much for. I mean, NiF is a masterpiece and shouldn't really be compared and will probably still be my no.1 drama, but The Untamed has a different league on its own. I mean, maybe if it happened in Nie Huiasang's perspective, it will also be as intricate as NiF haha. You get me?

But yes, with all the other factors that it has focused on, thanks to the very good world that the author of the novel made, it was adapted quite well in this drama. Everything is just in there and was just emulated differently sometimes, but is there in spirit, and probably with much soul, because I loved Lan Wangji here than in the novel (although believe me I love both, but maybe Yibo's microexpressions were just a tad bit adorable.

I'm also not a fan of BL or yaoi or whatever but they really did well in the drama that I went straight to the novel and the donghua and I just can't get enough.

The music is also a big plus. What will I do now that everytime I hear Wuji, I want to weep? Also, all of the characters have their own journey written out in their individual songs. This just proves that the production is top-tier. They really made some serious business with everything.

Also, special mention to Xiao Zhan. He was amazing! He is really the perfect Wei Wuxian with his playfulness and darkness in him. Such a chameleon! I hope I can see him in other projects (hopefully after the controversies we can have Internal Affairs kinda a project with Yibo again because their chemistry is really undeniable)

This is really addicting. I guess I have to wait for another amazing drama before I can finally move on from this. Or not?
