good intention, bad execution

first of all, the writer can’t seem to determine whether they want the story to go into comedy or have serious plot lines. because the story taking place outside the village is all suspence and serious, but once you enter the village, the characters suddenly become comedic. take Woobyeok’s two secretaries, for example.

next, there are parts in this series that could be disturbing for some people and definitely need trigger warning, like the mom’s attempt to kill herself. is that really necessary?

and then, we have the rushed ending. ah yes, the unrealistic, dramatic court scene.

after watching this series and taking some times to reflect, the message i get from this drama is: you abuse your child? that’s ok. your child tries to defend himself and actually do something right? that is NOT ok! do you feel guilty after doing all that? not at all. people always forgive me for all my wrongdoings because i like to give them food and psst, i have terminal illness.

the mother is the one who creates trauma for her own son. how sad is that? she’s abusive and selfish. she’s nice to her son and neighbours only after her son Kangho becomes a prosecutor. even after Kangho’s accident, she’s still abusive AND selfish. her neighbours are putting up with her because she’s dying. sigh.

the good things about this series are Kangho & Mijoo, the kids, and Samsik.

i thought Samsik was only there for comedic purpose, but he is actually the key to end all this mess lol

i’m rooting for them!!!!!

this drama represents many people’s life; loneliness, desire to love and to be loved, mundane life, and lack of independence.

i noticed that many people have different ideas of what love truly is. some said, “Why can’t these people live without love? Will they die if they are not dating?” well, love is not necessarily all about romance. it is a deep connection and affection between one individual and another individual — daughter & mother, son & father, you & your BFF, or you & your pet. you can even fall in love with your job. it is normal for us human to seek for love and companionship in life. if you’re not getting enough love from your family for instance, you might want to find love elsewhere.

i found myself rooting for all characters in this drama and want all of them to find happiness :)

a teaspoon of sugar and ten bottles of cringiness

’BBF’ is probably the intro to dramaland for many people. as for me, this drama is the “restart button”, one that made me start watching dramas again in middle school (i’m 27 now).

i used to think this drama was the coolest. now that i’ve rewatched it, i can’t help but curling my toes. i get second hand embarrassment because of how cringe some scenes are and how bad the acting is. i was laughing my ass off every time Gu Jun Pyo and Yoon Ji Hoo appear out of nowhere to save Geum Jan Di. it’s almost like magic LMAO

two heroes and a bunch of cowards

yaaa, i didn't know Park Ji Hoon can act this gooood! i was really surprised.

the plot was great, and i really like the friendship between Sieun and Suho. in a way, i envy their friendship. they are both loyal and care about each other. both are my favorite characters in this drama.

what about Oh Beomseok? well, what about him? if you give me a chance, i would like to hit him with a broomstick and eat him alive (yikes jk). now now, calm down. seeing how i hate him this much must have shown how good the actor did his part. well done! *thumbs up* looking things from his perspective, i could understand why he did what he did, even though his reasons could never justify his actions.

enough reading this, just go watch the series! it's worth it ^^

p.s. i hate how bullies always gang up on someone and how rich people always get away with crime. cowards.

it could have been something...

i was going into this series blind, only here for Han So Hee and Ahn Bo Hyun, zero expectation, and still i'm not impressed with this series. it was just ok. i don't have any particular feelings about it.

although, it was quite disappointing when i found Ahn Bo Hyun's character to be bland. he really had no presence at all. it's like he existed just to become the fl's love interest. ugh, the unnecessary romance.

surprisingly, at some point, the fl was overshadowed by Park Hee Soon's character. his character was intimidating and very charismatic, and i was rooting for him lol i'm sorry but i don't care about the fl's plan to avenge his father. i just want the bad guy to live and thrive.

10+ plot holes and 0 character development

i am always sceptical of netflix original series since they’re usually trash. so going into this show blind, i didn’t have any expectations AT ALL! but it was surprisingly intriguing

from the start, it was implied that seo ari was supposed to be dead. but she went live on ig one day and we were left wondering if she was really alive. i was mostly curious about why and how she died, how she survived, and i also wanted to know bbbfamous’ true identity. those were my motivation to complete this drama.

although i found this drama quite entertaining overall, there were many plot holes in the story especially towards the end that i could not simply turn a blind eye to. there were also a lot of montage in the beginning, where the PPL came in. it was awkwardly obvious lol

furthermore, character development was nowhere to be seen in this drama. ok, our fl did have a tiiiiiiiiny bit of character development. but the others? they were just too busy with themselves and their follower count.

moving on to the one thing i hate the most from this drama: the characters were screaming, yelling and throwing things every time they had the chance. it was not a makjang drama, so why were they acting like that? chaehee was the character who contributed the most scream and yell in this drama. she was extremely annoying and childish. all she did was complaining and wining *go away negative energy* or were those the side effects of her drug addiction? *eye emoji*

anyway, i was surprised when it was revealed that ari’s bff was one of her haters. but i was even MORE surprised seeing ari accepting her lame excuse. unless ari was a saint, it made no sense. if i were ari, my feelings would have hurt hundred times more than the hate comments written by netizens. because not only that she left hate comments, she had an exclusive hate account for ari. what a snake!

the romance between ari and joonkyung had so much potential tbh. but since the focus of the drama was not romance, i couldn’t ask for more

i am usually not a fan of korean crime/detective dramas since the characters often do something unrealistic and idiotic. yet, ‘Flower of Evil’ really had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

the story after Jiwon started being suspicious of her husband was full of suspense. it was fun seeing Do Hyeon Su lying to her while on the other end of the line, she already knew his real identity. i was extremely curious about his reaction when he finally realised that Jiwon knew his secret, and that scene didn’t disappoint me at all! the amount of emotions that both Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won delivered during that scene was incredible.

however, after the real Baek Hee Seong woke up, the story dragged on imo, and i found myself skipping most of Baek Hee Seong’s parts (probably because i despised his parents).

overall, it was an enjoyable drama. i, however, will not rewatch it due to the fact that the fun of watching this drama lies in not knowing Do Hyeon Su’s secrets, hence the two out of 10 rewatch value.

nostalgic, my go to drama

i am and will always be biased towards ‘Goong’ because i watched it when i was still in elementary school (i’m 27 now), so watching this brings back a lot of good memories. i remember almost every girls at school were talking about Lee Shin xD

and don’t forget about the OSTs. i was listening to them all the time, using my walkman (i feel ancient lol)

while the acting was pretty much trash, the story really fit every young girls’ dream at that time. and because the story is super duper light, this drama becomes my go to if i feel like watching something but have no particular interest in ongoing dramas.

‘Goong’ is fun and simple—you don’t have to use your brain to digest the story.

more salt, sugar, and pepper please!

first of all, the villagers were annoying. right from the start, the ahjummas barged into the ml's home. and when the ml expressed how uncomfortable he was with their action, they took offense. i believe the writer wanted to create the image that the villagers were wholesome and family-like, but they looked rude instead.

it was tough to be invested in the lead characters (the second guy included) because they were so one-dimensional, and the acting didn't help because it was monotonous. you know how you are sometimes rooting for the second male lead instead of the main guy and vice versa? well, i didn't get that feeling at all from this series, which was sad since love triangle was the main conflict.

i didn't care about the romance, i was watching for the dogs and puppies.

once is enough

action mode: on!
romance: zero, which is good
bromance & friendship: 100%

although the acting was amazing and the friendship between Gunwoo and Woojin was wonderful, few things were bothering me.
1. they were using a Mustang car for stakeout. yall know that a Mustang draws too much attention, right? so their stakeout was pointless at this point lol (i think Mustang is a sponsor for this series)
2. Mr. Choi’s house was unguarded even though he was super duper rich. moreover, he emphasized multiple times that he didn’t want his granddaughter to be harmed. it's like he didn't even try to protect her and the team.
3. Mr. Choi's knifers had a useless death. they hadn't shown their full potential and a moment later, they were killed. i was looking forward to seeing more actions from them because they were supposed to be really good at fighting.

it was a pity that Kim Sae Ron had to leave the show due to controversy. her character was really important to this series, hence the weird plot after her departure.

another thing is: Kim Min Jae’s appearance was too short. they made his character mysterious at first, thus peaking my curiosity, naturally. but then, they gave us nothing. it almost felt like his character was not important enough to be getting a screentime? which is not the case. his character was supposed to be important imo. i want to know more about him–why and how he was chosen, how he worked, etc. but yeah…nothing. he didn't do anything significant and was somehow just…there.

this series is good for passing time. i won't watch it again in the future. once is enough.
prost tho for the effort and dedication Woo Do Hwan & Lee Sang Yi have put into building their boxer bodies.

was good, but i still like the webtoon more <3

the story was slow-paced probably due to flashbacks, which i think was necessary in order to help us understand the characters. i'm guessing there will still be a lot of flashbacks in the future episodes too, at least until the other characters notice that Ban Ji Eum was Yoon Joo Won (Ban Ji Eum in her 18th life). however, i do feel that the story was a bit flat so far. there were not much things going in the first four episodes, and we were shown the same flashback multiple times.

i believe that Moon Seo Ha needs to go and talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist about his trauma and mental struggles.

nonetheless, i will not be dropping this drama just yet! but if you decide to stop watching, read the webtoon instead! because the webtoon was a lot more fun and heart-fluttering.

Park So Yi who plays the younger Ban Ji Eum is a really good actress and super cute *heart eyes*
and also, i'm rooting for Cho Won. she and Ha Do Yoon look good together <3

+) good news, good news! the story is starting to move forward in episode five!! YES! i’m here to see the sisters reunite!

THIS IS THE ONE!

I like how the story is light and cliché yet straightforward — there’s no dragging and no complicated twist and turns. And it has only 12 episodes in total!

Its greatest strength, however, is the chemistry between the characters. Kim Se Jeong and Seol In Ah have previously worked together, so I think it partly helps build up the chemistry with the other two leads. Plus, all actors are around the same age and have similar vibe.

Thanks to the great chemistry and light story, I am able to enjoy this drama a lot. It has been my source of happiness. Every Monday, I feel alive again and already looking forward to the next week.

def not for me

the first episode was unbearable to watch tbh. it was awkward as hell. they were trying to make some scenes comedic, but they failed because the comedy felt rather forced. remember the awkward silence during Cheon Sa Rang's interview? yeah, the silence was too long, i thought my wifi was acting up.

the second episode was better than the first one, but i didn’t have any particular feelings about it.

beside the forced comedy, i don't like how our main leads always seemed to be "accidentally" in the same place at the same time.
- like them standing basically two meters away from each other at the hotel lobby AND THEN walking away at the same time just for the sake of the slow-mo effect.
- remember that time at the park, where they AGAIN were standing just a couple of meters away from each other looking at the beautiful city skyline. why THAT park? is there something special about the park? because you can see the city skyline from other places too.
- and then, there's this scene where they were standing on the balcony outside their hotel rooms. and guess what? they did it AT THE SAME TIME.

you see, that kind of thing is soooo outdated. i can tolerate if they do it once in a while, but not every episode.

as for the characters, i can't say anything because i only watched three episodes lol

sadly, this drama doesn't work for me.
but if you find this drama enjoyable, well i'm happy for you :)

a good lullaby to help you sleep

i’ve tried, guys. i’ve given this series a chance but couldn’t get pass the third episode. it was boring af.

from the moment i saw the mother stole the envelope full of money in episode one, i knew that this journey would not be easy. it is not a good idea to put that much money on your bedroom table where everyone in the house has access to. it is extremely stupid to do so especially if you don’t trust your own family (in this case, the mother) *face palm*

the first daughter was too naive. the second daughter was often rash. the third daughter was ungrateful.

apparently, i am not strong enough to fight the sleepiness i get from watching each episode. so the journey sadly has to end here.

when crazy turns messy

too many things going on in one drama : Lee Si Na's revenge, Lee Si Na’s brain tumor, Noh Go Jin's former secretaries' revenge, murder attempt on Noh Go Jin, Noh Go Jin's memory loss, Lee Si Na & Noh Go Jin's fake engagement, the reappearance of Noh Go Jin's first love, the agenda of Noh Go Jin's rival, and the list goes on...

it was hard to focus on the main plot, which was… revenge-to-love? i’m not even sure lol

truthfully, i had high expectations because i love both Kim Jae Wook and Krystal. i enjoyed their previous works and the acting in this drama was good, i guess. however, i didn’t feel their chemistry. they looked more like brother and sister.
