Watching someone cry out of fear isn't something we should expect in a variety show

A minor spoiler ahead. The members started off this season with Muchaburi dodgeball, a segment in the Bingo series where it's dodgeball + a penalty game for whoever gets hit out. This is where I have a major problem with.As much as I know how horrible some of the games in Muchaburi dodgeball can get, inviting a pro-wrestler to scare members to the point where there are members who actually started shaking in fear, isn't a fun segment to watch. Even if it were scripted, I honestly do not understand why the writers expect the audience to want to watch girls crying out of fear. The only saving grace is that the MCs did do their best to calm the girls who were crying, not in the rough and brusque manner of AKBingo in the past, but composedly. It honestly looked like they understand why the girls would be afraid of doing these penalty games but for the sake of the show, they had to comfort and talk them into going on with it.I'm not blaming the MCs for not being able to do anything much other than comfort the members, or the pro-wrestler for scaring the members. The writers though, they clearly do not write for people of this generation. Their scenarios are for the people of the past and someone on top should step in stop this sick culture of showing crying, fearful young girls on television.

Spicy progression

Finally, some decent progression as a couple and it seems Hae Young's not failing at sniffing these sort of things out! I love how cutely Jung Rok and Yoon Seo act around each other right before Jung Rok actively confesses his feelings to her. The OST too though, gorgeous blend! Talk about a fluff episode haha!

A hearty end to the Hinatazaka's 1st year

As the first year of Hinatazaka comes to its close, we got to learn plenty about how the members grew through this episode and the last. This episode also brought Iguchi in at the end to commemorate her 'graduation' from the group. It was a nice touch since her contribution to the show was not a small amount.

Sports/game episodes after a string of talk episodes is a refreshing change

Great to watch some action after a few weeks of studio talk shows. Plus, it's great to see that they are taking the issue about how the title of the show should be shortened seriously.

Good episode to watch on the side

There was not much depth into the episode (as with the other 2 in this series), but it was still interesting to watch how Sasaku held no punches when teaching the members how to cheer for the Giants. Kyoko's lecture on getting a higher score for Karaokes, however, was a lecture that I definitely appreciated. She goes through some vocal techniques that the DAM system scores more on, and how to nail them properly. All these while holding a live demonstration from herself and Tomita. And yes, Tomita. Which means Wakabashi might hit that 400% synchronisation this episode again.

Hit campaign?

I was honestly hoping that as with the previous singles, the show would have the members go through a trial to pray for the success of the single. It was instead, a campaign to promote the single. Nevertheless, the campaign was a fun one, the reactions of the students who discovered, as well as those who failed to, the 'undercover' members were fun to watch. Kawata's fan recognising her was also a heartwarming scene.

A 30 minutes special on Nibuchan

Thanks to Kasuga's birthday gift, this episode is a full focus on Nibuchan as members accede to Kasuga's whims to talk about Nibuchan. There are plenty of interesting stories that 30 minutes just isn't enough!

Baseball fun, at last

The first segment was honestly very awkward to watch. The members were asked to seduce the Mayor of Miyazaki in their sexy phrases segment. Hinano also participated in it. Watching them do it to the MCs in their previous episodes was one thing, but a Mayor? I wouldn't want to force girls to try to seduce me in a TV show unless they honestly like doing it.After that disappointing segment, the batting session finally begins and perhaps because of the segment prior, it was a whole order of magnitude more enjoyable to watch. The latter half of the episode focuses on the backstage of the SSA and I personally love the snippets of their backstage video, hence the rise in the score.

Meh first half, but decently okay second half

The first half of the episode takes place at the zoo, but there really isn't much to do at a zoo that simply cages its animals up. Other than the expected idol reactions such as "Ah, so cute!" and whatnot, there's really nothing the members can say about the animals. The only saving grace would be the (rather obviously lead on) mini-quiz game where both teams try to get points by coming up with hilarious answers to ridiculous questions. I snorted twice, I think. The second half was much better, in comparison. Both teams had to fight it out in a speed quiz game about Miyazaki or baseball. As someone who only watches baseball once a year, I could not appreciate about half of the questions, which left me completely unimpressed. Thank goodness for Nibu's unexpected answer to a very simple question, I had a good laugh as the episode came to its close.

HinaMashou's first sponsored location segment series

The proper variety that begins after the segway featuring the hotel sponsor is a cliche idol segment that nobody dislikes. The members are split into 2 teams based on their punctuality and their personalities really show, based on how early or how they arrive and behave. It also helped that the MCs made it fun when discussing about the members' personalities simply on that basis. The second half is yet another segment that any idol variety cannot do without, beach play! Although it was rather linear and short, there were some hilarious accidents that were so unscripted that I could not help but laugh out loud.
