Lost potential

If you came here to see if this drama is worth watching because you like one of the actors that appear in it, i'd say it is. It is not nearly as bad as the reviews (including mine) make it seem. It is your average drama, and i would not say anything made it overwhelmingly bad or unwatchable. It was good for what it was, and i bet with this binged (where you could skip the filler scenes), the drama would be a solid 7.8.

Now for my harsher opinion...Let me start by saying i am jinyoungs biggest fan, and have been his fan for 10 years, so i was so excited for him to finally be the lead in a drama on a public broadcast channel. This started soooo good, amazing, i could not even imagine it getting bad, but then... i was so bored that not even his 10/10 visuals were keeping me interested.

the plot:
The main problem with this drama is that the vibe of the first few episodes (which was fresh, youthful, and fun) did not match the vibe of the later episodes. I would say the drama got boring after episode 6 or 7. That's simply because the people who were watching from the beginning, were most likely in it for the romance, but that completely became watered down into nothing to the point where i could not care less where the romance even went. I would almost consider this a drama without a love line because it became that boring and irrelevant to the story. I cannot believe they barely did anything with the storyline of the female leads mother, one of the few interesting things this drama put in place at the beginning. Past the initial episodes, this drama is completely different, all the charms were lost into a boring gambling storyline.

Listen, i get that police drama's about crime are also of interest to people, but there are tons of police dramas, while there are none about a police university. This drama is lost potential because the focus should have been on the students, the hardships they went through, love, studying, or whatever drama that happens when you are preparing to be a police officer??? (guess we will never know?) I cannot believe this drama threw all that away for some basic gambling storyline, like at least make it a murder one like law school that actually keeps you interested.

Overall, People were interested in this drama because we thought we would get the police university version of a heart-fluttering campus drama, but no. we got a police drama, that has a lot of scenes that take place at a university.

the acting:
People hated on the acting more than they should have. The acting was great, and the times where it was bad was not because of the actors, but because of the over-dramatic script. They had jinyoung act shocked about things that weren't even shocking. Before you right off his acting as bad because of this lack luster drama i'd recommend you watch literally anything else he has been in, his acting in his last movie gave me goosebumps. The same goes for the other cast members. Cha taehyun is a well-known actor, but even his acting seemed so awkward at times because some scenes were just so overdramatic when it did not need to be.

Overall: For a Monday Tuesday drama competing against huge names, this didn't do that bad ratings-wise, so i hope that the actors in this drama find themselves better roles in better dramas. I especially hope Jinyoung can lead again in a drama that is unique and interesting because this drama definitely was not any of that. I do recommend you watch the first 6 episodes though, because it is so worth it. Then just drop it once you get bored.
