Gripping storyline with flawless character settings

Fast-paced, logical, rational, concise and gripping storyline with flawless character settings. There is nothing in this drama that seems too much or less just as perfect as a drama can get. Amid the build-up of a thrilling plot line, there is a sprinkle of a subtle romance (which I wish to believe is there) between an indifferent, cold-hearted, and ambitious female CEO and her bodyguard which can drive anyone crazy expecting more.

Treading along a fine balance between the protagonist and the villain this drama gives a vast space for speculations about the ethics behind the topic of genetic engineering and the danger behind it.

Han Hyo Joo, playing the role of the above-mentioned indifferent, cold-hearted, and ambitious female CEO, did a spectacular job as always with the rest of the cast who brought this drama to perfection.

The ending was a cliffhanger but the most rational and acceptable that one could not find a fault whatsoever. Considering the characters and the story development, the ending was acceptable and gave leeway for speculation. The ending was not forced, unlike most dramas that try to fit into the viewer's expectations.

Came for Kim Soo Hyun stayed for Kim Soo Hyun

This is the perfect example of how a mediocre plot/story/screenwriting can become a masterpiece with the right cast.
Queen of Tears is your average storyline, more like the stories of the 2010s, revolving around the traditional plot lines of, a rich girl and poor boy, terminal illness following the ML and FL rekindling their lost love, finding a miraculous cure and finally a happily ever after. Add to that there is the typical villain who is manipulative and makes your teeth itch wanting to beat them to death.

There was character and story development, but in the end, it all was just average. But oh BOY!! didn't the cast do a brilliant job?? Like every actor /actress was amazing, taking out their full potential to bring out the oh-so-average characters. If this drama was acted out by anyone else, it would not have been as successful, so kudos to the cast. It was a Brilliant performance.

This is one of that rare moments where I came for the actors and stayed for them cuz the plot did not engage me as I was hoping it would be.

This 8/10 from me is entirely for the cast and none for the plot/screenwriter.

King Maker becomes the King....

The ending was satisfying ... but it wasn't impactful enough?? I'm so glad that Tae Oh and Hye Won didn't end up together. Thank goodness, I was silently wishing the entire last two episodes for them not to end up together, or otherwise I'd really be disappointed.

Umm.... I'm actually glad it's over..... but what make me so sad is all the effort that went to waste. The acting was good, the directors were good, but the writer was just shit, making it all go to waste. Lee Jae Wook in Suits for almost 10 episodes was a candy to the eyes... but that's it..... that's the only thing that got me going until the 12the epi.

The story overall is told in a very shallow way and made complicated uselessly, when it could have been told in a much simpler way, especially HTO's king-making road.

And at the end of last episode, I can understand why the chairman made HTO the heir, I mean he was the one who was capable enough to protect the company and also save his life. But Seunju?? He just has a sudden realization that he didn't want all that....like really? And what??... We don't even get an explanation as to why In Ha did to what he did?? So many loose ends.

I hope Lee Jae Wook will get a better project next time...

Slow torture

14 episodes spanning over 3 months. This drama was a slow torture not because I have to wait every week for one episode, but because this boring story never seems to end.

The story, mind you was intriguing but yet again, the cast delivered it in a way that got me dozing while watching. It makes me very sad to say, that the only contribution Cha Eun Woo managed to throw in, was his dazzling handsome face, his acting has a waaay further to go. Fighting! Cha Eun Woo! You got this!

But yeah, how can they make an interesting story boring is waaaaaay beyond me, but as a person who watched it just to see the ending I was just disappointed. They should have just broadcasted it and got it done with instead of dragging it over for months without any real gain.

Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung --> the perfect visuals

Kim Yoo Jung, Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun, for me, are my little three Musketeers. The three little stars of the Moon Embracing the Sun, and I watch them grow up through drama all these years. They hold a special place in my heart and I want them to be the best of who they are. And all these years, I saw Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun, whose acting improved over the years, but sadly I feel like Kim Yoo Jung, hasn't found her perfect role yet. Her last dazzling performance was Love in the Moonlight, but after that, I felt like she never fit into her roles in dramas.

Sadly yet again her characters didn't fit well with her role as Do Do Hee in the drama, My Demon. I saw her effort, but sadly it fell short of my expectations.

My Demon, the drama overall is interesting and fun but at the same time lacks substance, the depth a drama should have. The story was quick to come to conclusions and didn't manage to bring out anything of value to anything.

The ONLY thing that I have to praise is the amazing visuals brought by Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung. The couple was the only thing that got me salivating for the entire 16 episodes. Although the two lack chemistry and the awkwardness was obvious from time to time, the dazzling visuals when these two are together just blew my breath away.

Chaotic yet heartwarming story

The story of a small town called Samdal-ri where there are no secrets lol. Cho Sam Dal, the only successful Samdal ri native to make it big on the mainland comes back after a setback. What met her was her chaotic town people who welcomed her with open arms and warmed her already cold heart. Although being the gossipy town people they were, they protected their own. Although the story rotates around the Samdal-ri star cross lovers Cho Sam Dal and Cho Yong Pil, it also peeks into the beautiful lives behind the other town forks, their pain their love and their ordinary lives.
The entire 16 episodes don't let you get bored telling the story of their boring lives and instead make you laugh smile and sometimes even cry.
An absolutely beautiful story brought to us by an amazing cast, director, producers and writers.

And I personally feel that Ji Chang Wook finally found his perfect role after many long years. And Shin Hye Sun worked her charm into her character. Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hye Sun created the perfect chemistry between Cho Yong Pil and Cho Sam Dal. The Five Powers Rangers, the Haenyeos, the weather forecasters, and the entire Samldari town created a heartwarming yet chaotic story of Welcome to Samdalri.

The OST --> loved it!

Kudos to Rowoon!

It started in a very awkward and weird way but then over the course of 16 episodes, it transformed into a very heartfeltting, emotional and engaging storyline.

The awkwardness is mainly due to the character Shim Jung Woo being an anti-social, stubborn, naive and upright nerd trying to fit himself into society. At first, I thought maybe Rowoon, ended up picking a terrible script for the first time in his acting career but later I saw how Rowoon managed to bring out the anti-social character into a more mature character over 16 episodes and yet again I have to compliment him on his acting.

And the rest of the cast too did an amazing job!! Loved everyone of them!

The storyline is similar to other cliche Joseon matchmaking stories aired so far but despite that it has its differences and engaging points.

It started off cringy af but by the end, my heart had turned into a soft puddle. It's just adorable!!!

So if you feel like it's too cringy at first, give a few more episodes a try and you will find yourself falling in love with this drama.

The most evil perfection

How should I describe this drama......a damn rollercoaster ride!!

12 episodes and it was enough to drive me crazy. The story revolves around a cop who goes undercover to uncover an international drug ring and things get complicated when his wife inadvertently gets sucked into the investigation. The story was perfectly written and I love how Park Joon Mo aka the undercover cop slowly gets the utmost trust within the gang and slowly rises up to become the key figure in the international drug deal. And at the same time slowly removed the key figures around the ring leader and substituted himself as the most trusted subordinate and friend of the ring leader Jung Ki Chul. What was more thrilling is, how he managed to corner all of them into a dead end and finally take them all out in one fell swoop.

Ji Chang Wook managed to pull out the psychological struggle of his characters in utter perfection and I could not be more proud of him.

Worst of Evil, was made the most perfect evil by the cast and directing with a solid storyline.

Hands down, the BEST season of Arthdal Chronicles!!

This is the second drama that got a 10/10 from me for the year 2023 so far. (The first one being Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938)

This season is totally different from the other three seasons, from different actors to, a much more developed background setting, directing etc. The storyline is also more powerful and engaging and keeps you on your toes until the end. This season starts 10 years after the end of 3rd season and talks about how Eun Seom, Saya and Tanya, the sword, the mirror and the bell worked together to capture Arthdal from the tyrannical Tagon.

And if you are worried about the change of actors in this season, trust me Lee Joon Gi and Shin Sae Kyeong, playing the roles of Eun Seom/Saya and Tanya were AMAZING!! They were the perfect Eun Seom/Saya and Tanya that Arthdal could ever get!!

For kdrama lovers who haven't watched the previous season, it would be very difficult to directly watch this season because everything that happens in this season is one way or the other connected to previous seasons. So I would recommend watching the previous seasons before watching this. Although the only drawback would be, in my opinion, the previous 3 seasons of Arthdal Chronicles were relatively boring and frustrating.

The OST was perfect.

It started off as bland but then when you started to understand why things happened the way they did, it started getting interesting. Especially the murder mystery embroiled between the characters and trust me, when the real murder was revealed it actually got me by surprise. cuz I NEVER saw that coming!! and the reason behind it is something no one could have guessed! That's why I said, things get interesting when you know why they did to why they did.

And a [rose] for Kim So Hyun, my baby is getting better in her acting with each of her projects. [heart] [heart]

The season where the writer packed her bag and ran away

For me, this drama is both good and bad. tbh After watching the first season, I wondered why they even needed a season 2? Except for wondering if Do jin and ho gae were alive and the unknown mastermind behind the crimes, I was wondering what kind of story is left for them to stay. is a second season even necessary to tell the remaining mystery from S1? And well, I wasn't surprised how S2 spanned out over the 1 and a 1/2 months.

What mostly disappointed me was how the character's settings were arbitrarily mutilated by the author from her own hands. I'm not crying over Do Jin died, but I'm unsettled in HOW he was killed by the author, at least Do Jin should have been given a more heroic death, but instead, a MAIN character was just killed within 4 episodes and the story just continues with. "oh he is just dead, bye bye". Not only Do Jin, they removed the characters Bong An Na [Scientific Investigation Team / Do Jin’s sister], with just a "oh I'm going abroad, bye bye". I mean if they are going to remove the actors/characters, they shouldn't have introduced them for S2 in the first place! Or start the season with a time skip instead or something! But NO! They just stuffed them in and then stuffed them out, which is annoying, And then down the story, they just came out with some poor excuse to remove Yoon Hong [NFS] from the picture temporarily, so as to introduce the character Han Se Jin. AND also, after Do Jin's death, the character setting for Song Seol went haywire, greaving over Do Jin and giving the watchers mixed messages.

So my point is the story wasn't solid. At least season 1 had enough substance to run on to keep up with the topic "First Responders" but in S2, I felt the writer was struggling in the storyline, albeit coming up with "substance" to go with. But I felt like it was gradually moving away from the topic of "First Responders".
But I have to agree S2 was much more thrilling than S2, although slightly annoying.

WHOLESOME! WHOLESOME! WHOLESOME!

Getting a 9/10 for a weekend drama from me, speak volumes.

This drama is officially the second weekend drama that I watched without missing an episode!! 6 months, waiting every weekend just to watch this drama and religiously keeping up with the updates!! Ended up hating some characters, cursing some in the middle, rolling my eyes at some point, and laughing like an idiot in others!! Sometimes I got frustrated, and sometimes mad enough to flip the table, My heart when fluffy in some scenes and even felt like crying in others. Every step was fun. there was character development and story development was gradual, there was no obvious rushing at the end. This ticks off as one of those perfect weekend dramas.

D.U.M.B

I guess I'm just dumb to expect something good from this drama. It started off really well but then I just don't have any other nice word to say than dumb. Then I skipped a few episodes, just hoping.......with a teeny tiny bit of hope that the story will get better but.........................TADA! It gets dumber and dumber and dumber and then I just watched the final episode and phew it's over!!! yay! At least the ending was good.

My conclusion after watching not almost all the episodes --> These four friends pretend to be so high and mighty and clever but they are dumb as fk.

So in my opinion, 24 hours a day is precious, so don't waste ur time on this. Don't be dumb like me. My 5/10 is only because of the actors and actresses.

100/10

This is an all-around 10/10 for me. Who needs romance dramas when u have a perfectly sassy gumiho??!! Trust me this is INFINITE times better than season 1. Honestly, I wasn't so impressed with season 1; the romance was too dull for me, and the only thing that piqued my interest was Lee Yeon's sexy hair and Kim Bum, who made a stunning comeback after a long time! So at first, I was even wondering why the hell they need a season 2. Hence, I started watching with a slight doubt BUT...... FK romance, romance played only a very small role but the action scenes, and the crazy friend trio was just PERFECT.

If u ask me, just watch season 2 instead of watching season 1. From what I see, season 1 doesn't play a major role in season 2, the two seasons tell two different stories. You only need to know 3 thing,

1. Lee Yeon is a Joseon Mountain God who fell in love with a human woman. After she dies, he waited for her to reincarnate which she did in modern times. CUZ Foxes have only ONE mate for LIFE!!!
2. Lee Yeon has a brother called Lee Rang who dies in season 1 trying to save him, so LY feels guilty about it, plus they have a bro complex.
3. Lee Rang has a love-hate relationship with his brother, he thinks he was abandoned by Lee Yeon so he's kinda like a kid who's trying to throw tantrums at Lee Yeon trying to get his attention.

That's all u need to know from season 1 to watch season 2.
