Sweet home is a good (considered the best for me) drama to watch during the pandemic

This is my first time writing a review!

I'm still pretty much a newbie to kdrama industry but i do watched couple of zombies/vampires/monsters/devils/mythical creatures/horror dramas, so i was very surprised by how realistic and was in awe of many high quality cgi scenes from this drama. I was immediately captivated by the trailer of sweet home and i knew that this drama will be great.

"apocalyptic horror South Korean television series", can't completely explain how amazing this drama is. Although this drama is categorized as horror, i think it is not as horrifying as Conjuring series. HOWEVER, this drama makes me panic every minute. I think one of the greatest strength of this drama and makes it attractive is... You totally don't know what's going to happen. You can't predict what will happen in the next episode AT ALL. Any moment someone could die, any moment i will cry. (Did i mentioned that this drama makes me emotional too?) So basically, unlike many other zombie dramas such as KINGDOM or TRAIN TO BUSAN, you really can't tell what the story will turn out in the end, ecspecially when this drama is about humans turning into "monsters" when they got overcame by their own "desires". (as complicated as it sounds, you can watch the drama and find out!)

A TOTALLY NEW CONCEPT for a kdrama, unlike zombies, you turn into one when u got bitten (infection) or maybe angels and devils or demons, you turn into one when u drank their blood (?). Literally, this drama gives panic attacks to audience because it gives no warning on how or WHEN the characters is infected and is becoming their evil side.

Now that we talk about the monstrous sides of "humans" that this drama managed to capture perfectly, let's talk about the distinct characteristics or appearance of EVERY "monsters" the main character, Cha Hyun-soo encounters. Spoiler: For example, a disabled runner that wishes to run again, would give into his desires to become this hideous monster with legs that can run so fast that no one can escape from/see.

Ok, if you came this far. Im sure it is getting boring but i have so much to share with you! The concept and storyline of the drama is already very well-written, but the casting and acting in this drama makes it so much better. Song Kang acts as Cha hyun soo, a male that finds life meaningless and been counting days to mark his death. You can easily tell depression symptoms from the way he carry himself or just leaching off at his room/at rooftop. He is a character that is broken inside and talks little. But we could understand enough about his struggle based on his behaviours and his past (NOPE A SPOLIER! AND WILL MAKE U ANGRY AND CRY AT THE SAME TIME) I really liked how instead of a very brave, aggresively justice or highly intelligent main character that highlights a lot of survival movies, this drama chose a main character we can relate to. Cha hyun soo thinks little of himself, doubts himself alot which sometimes restricts him into action immediately under dangerous stituations. He has very low self esteems but is a very kind hearted fellow. He is stupidly too kind for this world ugh And there is this one scenario that highlights how other characters make use of his good heart to stay alive. The main character transformed into "desire" halfly and can regenerate his body when he is injured BUT HE STILL FEEL PAIN. Humans being humans, others that are still "humans" forced Hyun Soo to travel to dangerous areas where monsters roam to help forage for food. *i dont know what im talking about this point, you get me if you watched it :D*

The camerawork is smooth and doesn't make me feel choked. The sequence when Hyun soo have to fight for himself and others also were captured nicely. Hyun soo is just a person and never fought against 8 feet of a monster before. So the struggling and actually tripping or panicking during the fights really are good details. (He almost died alot of times omg) And i think the music is pretty iconic too, u can hear the ending song and damn it stucks on your mind. The music really just makes you think "oh thats sweet home" ORIGINALITY YAS

Hmm OH YES, You know there are many dramas that sometimes over-summarize side characters personality and it is not easy to protray side characters importance and presence throughout the entire drama. This drama did a good job in showing side characters desires to survive and realistic sides that anyone under the same stituation could relate too. No sugarcoating yay and omg look at how diverse the remaining survivors are (there are mothers that lost their child, children that lost their dad, gangsters that are retired but damn soft inside, teenagers that are overly positive and depressed, a firefighter that lost her fiance, a girl that is too rebelious, a typical kdrama auntie, and more). I ended up falling in love with all the *important* characters BECAUSE of their flaws and their humane qualities (such as comforting someone that is down or forgiving or sympathize or setting up a funeral although the whole chaos is still going on)
And the fact that the characters are so heavily outnumbered but hope really kept each other going.

Ok..the end must come. And i just want to say that hyun soo is gorgeous and handsome. Im running out of ideas, please just watch it. I am hungry and can't think any gorgeous words to describe this drama. I shall eat now :3 sayonara

COnclusion: watch it :]

I watched it for V(Bts) but stayed for the bromance and i love it

HWARANG
PRETTY BOYS
WHY NOT WATCH IT RIGHT

well well well
You might think that this drama is the carefree, cheerful, peaceful otome story about men united to serve for the Queen under the name, Hwarang. And i beg your pardon, nope it isn't carefree. Don't be fooled ladies, it prepared surprises.

These all lies into the storyline. I have to admit that the story might not as solid as i wished and my favourite characters kept getting hurt and my kokoro is hurt as well. BUT HOWEVER, you have to understand that this drama carried out what they promised!!! PRETTY BOYS.

Spare your opinions and enjoy the interactions these men have for each other. The chemistry is real people and that highlights the story and that is what you should look forward to!

In short, this is a terribly written summary by me,
2 poor boys with no identities sneaks into a "city", the main lead follows his friend into the city in search of his lost family. However, his friend meets a tragic end due to some unfortunate events and the male lead continued living under the disguise of his friend to survive in the city. THEN, SOMEHOW the male lead got caught into a drama with the royal highness THE QUEEN & THE KING. The male lead joins a group of pretty boys under the name Hwarang that serves for the King in search for answers regarding to his friend's death, The boys in Hwarang are nobles and they are prideful and are bullies (lowkey childish but it's ok, nothing serious). The male lead being male lead, charmed more drama and got caught in between this drama between the queen and the other nobles. While all of these are happening, the male lead fell in love with a girl that he shouldn't and trapped in a love triangle stituation with the King that is also in love with the girl. yes.. that's pretty much it

Conclusion: I love the chemistry and it really makes me feel warm inside u know

A great movie to enjoy with family :)

There's just something about the opening scene of Lin Truly (Main character) working in an office, appearing flawless and beautiful, or thats what she is trying to appear like. And then her having relationship problems like anyone of us might have experienced as an adult and- to her bedroom, listening to a song of her favourite idol. AND THEN TRANSITIONS TO her waking up when she was younger, looking totally different of how she is now as a grown up.

There is just something about youth that this movie managed to bring out to the audience (aka me) Lin truly is not the best student, she is just a normal teenager. She is introduced as a character that many of us can relate to! She has a neighbour that her parents always compare her to (such as looks/grades/popularity) Her parents dotes on her brother alot more and she hates her brother. I think this movie really focused on building Lin Truly as a person we can relate to! (she is pretty funny too)

My parents likes this movie alot and i watched this movie with them for so many times that i might be able to recite their dialogues. Don't get me wrong tho, i still like this movie! My parents thinks this movie has a special place in their heart because this movie takes place in a timeline when my mom too is a teenager. My mom told me stories about she too, just like Lin Truly, rides bike to school, skip classes, forgetting exams, falling in love, running to canteens, running out of money, avoiding gangsters in her school and she also was an Andy Lau fan.

Not only this movie brings out the times when our parents has experienced, it also gives this whole movie a beautiful & dreamy theme that we couples/singles/whoever we are now can never experience again. OK WE Settled the part about the movie concept/theme/background.

We can now dive deeper into the storyline. And man, i think this is like the most dramatic yet realistic yet emotional yet wholesome drama..? This movie really makes you vomit so much emotions but i assure you that many of them are positive :) The most wholesome highlights in this movie probably about how the main female lead interact with the main male lead. The main male lead appeared to be very violet or rebellious. ANd definitely scared the hell out of Lin Truly at the beginning of the movie. BUT he is so precious and cute to her as time goes by. I like it when he laughs. OUT OF TOPIC WHOOPS

The lesson you can look forward in this movie is... get a boyfriend like the male lead.

I REALLY DONT WANNA SPOIL MUCH BECAUSE IT WOULD RUI N THE SURPRISE SO BAI

I am here to drop bombs, yes

Hello, I admit I did not finish the drama and I'm damn irresponsible for that- You may judge me on this later ;-;

I caught my sister watching this drama by herself and I was intrigued by how cute the chemistry between the main characters are. And that was how I ended up watching the series...

So far, I am so so so happy. Like this series makes me happy. And I think I'm VERY entertained. HAHAH
The opening song sounds pleasing to hear and really cheerful, I like how their song is simple, yet has their own personalities by the two singers. The male would be talking about how the girl is so cute and the girl will talk about the male. BRUH I like it ^^

This show is not longwinded and really showcases the character's personalities well and don't leave the audience confused. Of course, the actors played major part in making the show work out. I personally think the actors are well picked. I couldn't imagine any other actors to play their part. (Of course, your opinion matters) When the story started to feel real for me, I knew this show will be great.

In summary, the female lead is an ordinary hooman that is in a hurry to get her paycheck. (I mean ME TOO *crying noises*) She is the author of this story she came out with and is waiting for it to be approved so it can turn into a film. But the male actor who supposed to play the male lead role in her story commented on her story in a quite disrespectful manner. [Wait did i mentioned how funny this series is] He basically didn't agree with how biased and injustice the story turned out to be. Like how man "rule" over women in our world. The female lead wrote her story by flipping the table and made the story world, a world where women has more rights. To the actor, he sees this as no difference than the world we living now. WHICH I kinda agree.

Who cares, she needs her paycheck anyways and she died trying to complete her story without rest. Woke up in a princess body in a brothel. Woke up with richness and power, but she wanna go back home. REALised she about to die in the story she wrote because the princess she possessed is a no good-third princess. I bet you are confused right now, reading this review. I kid you not, my english proficiency is bad as hell and I'm tired like hell LMAO

SO, to not die. SHE DID EVERYTHING to not die. *cutely* Like why is she so cute. And the most funny part is, I'm amazed how is she not killed yet ;-; Like wow, you survived that huh....

Anyways, I hope you will watch the rest by yourself because I highly recommend this series to you if you are upset and is feeling under the weather. This series has choked me with anxiety and cuteness. Please enjoy.

(Why are they so cute? This is illegal*)
