Not For Me But...

I'm dropping the series mostly because even up through episode 8, the action aspect of the plot never picked up pace. And personally really dislike the typical romance stories with overly innocent and useless women. What's worse is the rest of the other women so far have been portrayed as either being just as useless, full of drama, evil, and/or manipulative. This is very typical of the old-school ideal of Asian romance and couple portrayal. Poor woman/rich man, innocent and sweet woman/powerful and misunderstood man, attached with unrealistically cute voices that belong to girls who haven't gone through puberty.

But for those who love these types of sappy stories, I can see why this one is on the higher-rated end and would definitely recommend. Personally I was putting up with the heavy romance scenes for while hoping the action and backstories would pick up at some point but it's been a slow burn.

Started off well , ended up a cliched mess

I guess i am also one of the very few who cannot rave about this show and this review will not be liked by most of the current (young) audiences but well since i watched i will provide my thoughts

I was attracted by clips of first few episodes and story line thinking it will be "we. will cross all hurdles including time and space" type of love story which i am up for watching anytime but i was disappointed big time.
First two episodes was gripping. First wave of disappointment came in when there was fire in Im Sol's house . What was it ! why that sequence which did not make sense and its utterly annoying to see such stupidity. Its not comedy if it does not fit into the flow of the sequence. Randomly these sequences are integrated. There are some comic scenes which is really good but most just falls flat and importantly it does not contribute to the story in any way.

But what really doused my interest is ML liking her with just one look .Liking her to the point where he cares nothing but her. ML cares about swimming for first few episodes then he doesnt give a damn. After that its like a list of cute scenes or crying scenes but really what is their relationship if we dont see them sit and talk and discuss other than saying they are happy !. He was a student who worked hard for it and now he is just a romantic goof .
Even FL does not show any maturity when she is supposed to be 34 year old in the body of 10 year old and that too for a person who has gone through so much and she remembers that! Being full of life is not same as acting all teenage like!

Psycho story line is a mess as well. A criminal attacked police officers and how come he is still roaming around and police officers are listening to a teenage girl what to do!! No wonder they could not keep a criminal in hand cuffs in place lol.

Same with SML and ML's friend . ML did not even know where his friend lived. And SML one day became buddies with them and enjoying in the beach ( another beach scene cliche thats a must i suppose) .
Point is none of this characters or the relationship is built up on a solid base that you care about them (Cant help but think of SOOD here)

Only good thing is the leads and the actors who do have a good comic timing ( but sadly all are over the top or out of place)

This plot had the potential to be as good as Someday or one day. Sigh ..

PS : i am still giving ratings more than what i think it deserves

Interesting, but boring

I was glued onto this drama at the start of episodes 1-5. Then it got boring. The stories of each person just kept getting less, and less interesting.

Also, from what I heard, Jing Bo Ran was supposed to play 5 different characters. Each with different personalities.
...However, all the identities he took all had the same personalities with the same style and looks, except for when he had longer hair as one of his identity.
I felt that a few scenes were a bit scripted, and you already could predict what would happen next...
For example, the part where the ML came out after taking the exam for his half brother. All the examines walked out and the FL's dad took a picture of her as she was walking out. You could tell that in that scene he would take the photo and then capture the ML in the background. Lol.
Another predictable, scripted scene was towards the end where they were all being rocked on the boat. Of course, so obvious that the FL would fall into the water and ML would jumped in after her.
There were no twists. Plot slowed down after episode 5. The drama got boring afterwards.

Overall, it started out strong but weak ending. The ending was so overly dramatic.

There's an Easter egg ep, but I skipped it. Lol

I can't believe Lee Soo-yeon wrote this

I can't believe Lee Soo-yeon wrote this. It bears saying twice.
The first four episodes showed evidence of her deft procedural hand as BF CEO, Yoon Jayu (a flat and uninspiring Han Hyo-joo) finds her company beset by internal and external challenges just as it's overcome the challenge of cultivating seafood. She recruits one-dimensional sex bot Woo Chae-woon (a flat and uninspiring Ju Ji-hoon) to be her bodyguard. A job which seems to involve wearing turtlenecks and hair gel, driving her into ambushes and never wearing a bulletproof vest.

Chae-woon secretly has AN AGENDA, which in a better Soo-yeon show would mean something (everybody has AN AGENDA after all) but is rendered meaningless the minute it's revealed.

At episode 5, the show then quickly degenerates into a somewhat shallow (at times farcical) mess of cliches and tired conspiracies, combined with a dose of Alpha superhero nonsense that clashes wildly with the show's attempt to canvass Korean gender issues. Is it about political corruption? Corporatism? The impact of a disruptive technology? A study of humanity? A canvassing of corporate ethics? A warning against the widespread use of AI?
Who the hell knows. Not me and not the writer either.

For a writer famed for exploring Korean social issues from a place of nuance, perception and intelligence, her villains are suddenly crass and stupid while her protagonists' moral and ethical failings are swept under the rug or even portrayed as somehow acceptable. Character motivations are opaque and contradictory and if there was a theme(s) there I couldn't find it.

The acting, direction, lighting and cinematography do not help. All are approached with a lacklustre paint-by-numbers sensibility that suggests the whole thing is half baked. And while Lee Soo-yeon has long struggled with the strictures put on her by a Disney that has the money but a legendary lack of courage and imagination (just look at what they've done to Doctor Who), this is such a mediocre piece of work that I have to ask again.

Did Lee Soo-yeon really write this?

How Can You Not Love This?

Oh, this was like the bread and butter on BL. I can't imagine someone watching this and not falling in love with this adorable makeshift family. I don't know why I haven't watched this before now, but oh boy, am I glad I came around to this wonderfully happy little BL.

Let's Dive In.

Wow, so this was the cutest little J-BL I've seen in a while. The stacks are pretty low, but the feels are incredibly high. Yutaka who has always eaten by himself due to past trauma finds a little dude and his incredibly hot brother to spend his long-awaited time with. It's so nice just to see people connect over food and feel warm and loved. I can't even say anything different than what others have said because it's all true: this was a really special BL.

Ratings:

Story: 9/10 - Such a lovely story. We see so much domesticness go on between the three of them and it's the best thing ever. I also liked how we see Yutaka at work but it's not overbearing or with tedious office jargon. Their relationship is so precious while not having to be too physical, and it's perfect.

Acting: 9.5/10 - That kid stole the show. The way he was able to keep up with these adult actors was insane. I don't think I've seen a kid act that good in a while, and he's so incredibly young to be acting so good!! The leads did great as well.

Music: 6/10: It wasn't directing but not very memorable.

Recommendation Value: 8/10: this was just so precious, I highly recommend it if you're wanting a heartfelt watch. it does have some tough stuff about grief and death which could be a doozy, but for real, please watch this!

solid enough

not really a ground breaking Kamen Rider that you would expect after four years off the air so it is easy to understand why the second run of rider didn't last long. But I had fun with it it didn't do anything that the first series didn't and had no ongoing story beyond beat Neo shocker but it had it own charm with how it did thing. That is pretty much it watch any Showa rider you will know what you get from this. also those two girls were totally dating as much as two girl could in 1970s japan.

IMMORAL AND DISGUSTING

congratulations to the chinese writer at last they wrote something so nauseating that has broken all records ... Where to start with ... Let's talk about the LOVE STORY ... The ML is sleeping away with his cheap concubine who harasses the FL ,who is further physically abused by someone as lowly as a palace guard ... She is forced to jump off the cliff and compromise between life and death ..she is left all injured even her face can't be saved ..yet the shameless ML says he is doing all this out of love to save her ..bosdi k (MOFO) if this is love then people don't need enemies .. she is forced to jump off the cliff and commit suicide cause he wants to save her ....
Just catch the bloody writer and shoot him/her on the spot ... This type of stories are not good for a societies moral ...and by all means I wish the writer is forces to jump a multi story building for their lover's attempt to keep them save ... Let him/ her have the taste of their own medicine ...

Seriously I am beyond myself with rage on what in the f-king world I just watch ... Pathetic hopeless ...this is against the entire human race ... The day people will start making their lover jump the cliff the entire human race will come to an end ...

I strongly recommend don't watch it ...

Best COMFORT, SWEET SIMPLE DRAMA...FULL OF LOVE

I usual don't write...this is my second time that I am writing a review.
I found this drama really sweet... NO OVERACTING, NO EXTRA DRAMA, NO TOXICITY, NO FORCE OF THINGS TO HAPPEN ...just pure emotions...and understanding for each other.

How is make you comfortable?
KARAN:-
A loves someone for years secretly... without any expectations...
though he waited for this for long time since he respect your emotions, your discomfort, don't force yourself on you, love you the way you are, make you feel special... understand you in every possible way.

ACHI:-
A person who is never been in relationship try to figure out things how he will good in a relationship...
how will not disappoint another person.
Try not to take advantage of another's emotions and feelings.

The thing I love about ACHI AND KARAN relation is they.... RESPECT eachother, they GIVE SPACE to eachother THEY SUPPORT eachother...they try to UNDERSTAND eachother emotions and feelings... THEY DON'T FORCE one to another....
The thing I LIKE THE MOST IS.... is not necessary always you to kiss after your confession...you should give yourself and another time to adjust and adapt the things ( may be most of the people don't like this) you don't have to touchy and have intimacy to show your love...
Your small gesture always show love towards eachother other...

THEY SHOW HOW A RELATIONSHIP GROW SLOWLY...HOW TWO PEOPLE TRUST EACHOTHER AND PROVIDE COMFORT TO EACHOTHER.

MIN & JINTA
they are cute , sweet, a good understanding realation.... ( But I just find a little bit lack of chemistry between them)

ROCK & PAI
they are cutest... Their relation is sweet and spicy.... Even PAI knows Rock feelings are genuine...but she still needs her time and ROCK has no problem in that.

OVERALL THIS DRAMA IS SIMPLE, SWEET, COMFORTABLE...
FILLED WITH LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, UNDERSTANDING, SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE.

Thanks for all the hard work

The storyline really leave a big impact on me, i love how each actor display well the emotion towards their acting, but its not enough for me because i'm hoping that boys be brave will have another season that more focus about the second lead and the main lead love story. Anyway, big applause to the director who put much effort for making this masterpiece, and for the actors i love you all

2024 BEST ROMANCE DRAMA

The story line is very good, the location also very beautifull
I love all the cast, main role and support role all are the best
The relationship progress between ML and FL indeed real for me, at least that what I feel when I first my boyfriend and now become my husband
and of course there is no perfect relationship, sometimes problem come and that's a test of how strong the power of love is between two people can solve that problem
This is indeed the best love story for me, ^^

Rewatching it again in 2024 that good

I have rewatched this drama multiple times. It just that good. The lead couple is beautiful together. This drama makes you laugh your guts out. It’s sweet and romantic with some emotional moments but not to heavy. I love the way their relationship develops even their childhood history. He falls first and deeply then she figures out her feelings and fall just as hard.

Not all actions convey the intention

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Cast: They did what was expected of them
Music: In every k-drama there is at least one track that I really come to love, but for this I loved almost all that were played in the background. I’ll have to create a new playlist altogether for queen of tears.

Chemistry: You wouldn’t see this high a rating for romance centred drama if the leads didn’t have appreciable chemistry. Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In’s deep love for one another is expressed through actions in taking care of one another even when they have apparently fallen apart from each other. Some of the epilogues where they secretly vie for one another were really enjoyable

Plot/Theme: A chaebol family falls apart because they are unable to segregate whom to trust whom not to and sticking it to the other person. I really liked the part where the Hong family had to make amends with the Baek family while they were kind of forced out of the city. The first half of the series really sets up the narrative for something unprecedented but fails to capitalize on it in the second half. Hae In’s unconscious pursuit of Hyun Woo even after losing her memories gives vibes of the popular romantic movie, “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind”. This is something I really loved.

The wrap-up: K-dramas always end in a very predictable fashion; we are given a happy ending where Hyun Woo and Hae In seemingly spend most of their lifetime together before Hae In says goodbye to the world ahead of Hyun Woo. This surely doesn’t amount to the kind of anticipation the drama sets the viewers for.

It was okay, I would like a special episode of the second lead couple.

This was my second Korean bl series. Overall it was okay. I personally liked the second lead couple Choi Balgeum and Ji Inho. I liked watching their story. I really felt bad for Balgeum especially in ep. 6 iykyk. Granted yes, Balgeum could’ve done something with Inho that wasn’t a lot of money. But I think it just made Balgeum feel bad because he wanted Inho to have a great time. I also think it was an insecurity of Balgeums’ to because his family was in debt meanwhile Inhos’ family was wealthy. Definitely episodes 3 & 6 were my favorite.

NOT JUST A MEDICAL DRAMA BUT ABOUT PRINCIPLE IN LIFE

The first season implies the same, standing on your principle in life in the path or work that you have chosen, I did not realized and understood that on the first season of this drama, but it has made clear to me in this season, Dr. Kim is just a Doctor who is driven by his passion to save a patient no matter what happens and that is his principle while some other people with different views and principle in life coincidentally cross path with him, and chaos, change and learning grows. Choosing what is right or choosing money and power, this really happens in real life, and just like how this drama portrays, so many people in real life is being affected by peoples greed and power and money and I am one of them, This drama left a question to me, will I choose to do what is right and fair for everyone or will I choose to choose myself my ambition, money and power ? And my Answer is off course I wilL choose myself power and money, why ? coz most people are ! and will do the same ! coz there is no such as Master Kim and Doldam Hospital in reality , but they are an eye opener that somehow perhaps we can be different in the world full our greed.
The Acting storyline, progression is all two thumbs up ! I can have nothing to say against it, but Ahn Yeo Seop look too soft for me , I don't know why , I miss Dr. Kang and Dr Yeo and so happy to see again some of the original characters here, like Nurse Park, Nurse Oh, Nurse Gu !! he was so funny.
All in all a very sense-ful drama to watch ! definitely a recommended one ! in some ways I wanna be a part of Doldam hospital too even not just a Doctor but as a staff of Mr. Jang

Unsatisfied with the vast majority of the current season's J-dramas, I decided to go and try one of the many "Golden Age" ones I still hadn't watched, and picked this "Aishiteiru to Itte Kure".
Well, sometimes even older dramas can be a real let down, as it was the case here, alas.

First things first, what I liked: namely, the *marvelous* OST (WOW, seriously, perfect 10 there!), the unmistakable "90's Flavor", and the always good performance by Tokiwa Takako - whereas the rest of the cast, imho, didn't do so well; most were sub-par, but I don't think it's entirely their fault, as the material they had to work with was the real problem.
In a scriptwriter's career (even when we're talking of someone like Kitagawa Eriko who's done some real masterpieces!) there's bound to be the occasional lousy work, and this was precisely such a case.
It started quite well, except for the honestly annoying subplot involving the stepsis; but then in the second half it became more and more trite and poorly written, with the last episode being particularly terrible, to the point it ended up being involuntarily ridiculous. HUGE spoilers ahead so stop reading NOW if you wanna avoid those!

*****SPOILERS*****

Misunderstanding after misunderstanding, the FL convinces herself (and wrongly so) that the ML has cheated on her, so she goes and cheats on him with her childhood friend, the 2nd ML (who took advantage of the situation, ok, but then again she had been taking advantage of his kindness for the whole series, so hard to cast the blame there, imho). Even after the misunderstanding got cleared, FL and ML still break up, she has apparently realized that it's better to be loved than to chase after someone rather cold (which might have been less romantic, but I was still fine with such a development, it would have been mature and adult and realistic and honestly quite a nice change after all). So she's bound to move back to Sendai to marry the 2nd ML and help him run the family inn. All fine and dandy, right?
But then the Nth set of coincidences unleash (seriously, the way the characters keep running into each other by chance, you'd think this series was set in a small village, rather than in the tentacular metropolis, LOL) and she runs into the ML, goes with him to an apartment/villa at the seaside ('cause yeah, what normal Japanese wouldn't have a seaside house with a fireplace, right? Mattaku...), where they open up a bottle of champagne ('cause yeah, the house is uninhabited, but of course there's a fine bottle on hand just in case!), almost have sex but stop midway after he picks up her keys ('cause yeah, what normal dude wouldn't pick up some keys while going at it, right?) and she notices the keychain belonging to the 2nd ML, thusly bursting in tears.
Come dawn, a *ridiculous* scene on the beach ensues, where we discover that deaf people apparently have the superpower of being able to understand what you say if you just put your throat on their shoulder (seriously, Kitagawa-san?!? Or was it Stan Lee who wrote that scene? Who knows, maybe the ML got bitten by a radioactive mosquito? Again, mattaku...)
Then she gets back to the 2nd ML, who's the usual, understanding nitwit and leaves alone, brokenhearted but with a big smile (oh, boy) while she stays in the Big City to pursue her acting career.
Three years later, she's been so "successful" that her single-line scene gets cut, but apparently that pays well enough that she's dressed all in style with Italian/French designer's clothes. And then the leads meet again by chance in front of an apple tree (more like, a completely different plant to which some poor sap of AD has glued half a dozen apples bought in the closest supermarket!!!), and so they can live happily ever after. *BARFS!*
Wasn't it for the OST and for Tokiwa, the grade would be even lower. 4/10
