Viva La Vida!!!

One of the best kdrama I've ever watched!! To be honest I was getting fed up with the recent kdramas and I was so into Cdramas. This is the kdrama I've watched after a loooong time. It's really amazing. The plot is amazing and the cast is amazing everything is perfect. Way more beyond the typical kdrama plot. Fiction but still feels amazing. gives good life lessons. You must watch it and it's not boring at all. It's a mixture of all the emotions. Happy, sad, angry, confuse, excite, disappointment, guilt, regret everything is there. Best Drama (Kdrama) I've watched in 2023!!

Badass but predictable

This show starts with such a strong and tenacious female lead. I have a soft spot for badass female characters and Ji Woo has guts and the grit to propel her forward in her quest for revenge after watching her father get murdered. She pushes back as the police seemingly bury his murder by being taken under the wing of a notorious crime boss that claims to have been like a brother to her father. He helps train her and stoke her fire for revenge sending her into the police academy to catch her father's murdered while also being his eyes from the inside.

This show was very predictable. You knew what was happening from the very first episode and just stuck around to wait for her to figure it out. That left no true suspense since almost every confrontation you could see coming. You also have to suspend belief a bit as well because some aspects do not make sense if you think too hard on them. For example how she got into the police academy under a false name and background, which is believable until they mention that she never registered her fingerprints. They also mention a mole that set up all the cameras around the crime boss but then completely dropped that plot after it served its purpose. And then you have the secondary antagonist who was a former member of the gang that got kicked out after attacking Ji Woo; for as brutal as the crime boss is it did not make sense that he would let him live after giving him a reason to want revenge and then not notice that a few years later he was stirring trouble and making a new drug until he was at his doorstep. It is just hard to believe that a top crime boss for over a decade wouldn't notice a competitor emerging until that guy comes and slaughters your well trained thugs.

Mostly what this show delivers on is violence and intensity. There were several scenes that I had to look away from the brutality of it. And the actors did an okay job in my opinion but they also kind of felt one note with no real depth to them. Ji Woo is tough as nails and the first two episodes showcase that well but after the time jump and she joins the police academy she ends up becoming kind of boring. She is quiet and stubborn and that is about all that is left to her. Do Kang Jae wanted to be at the top of the gang but after getting kicked out becomes a murderous druggie and his performance felt over the top. Pildo was a stereotypical arrogant cop. Choi Moo Jin had some more depth to him in his character, especially as you watched him struggle with having grown to care for Ji Woo and the situation he was in. There was also the awkward romance storyline that was thrown in toward the end that for Pildo felt more believable than it did for Ji Woo.

The ending came out feeling rushed and incomplete to me as well. So this is not a bad show but it also was not that great. If you want to watch an intensely violent show that is quick then this will hit the spot but do not expect much from the plot or characters.

BL To Beat

Gorgeous scenery and cinematography. Excellent scriptwriting. Acting is outstanding! Nonkul being a season actor is the perfect actor for Jom. Bright is great revelation here! He acts really well too. All the characters get their proper time to develop their story. No one was left behind. The characters are even fleshed out in all it's splendor as if I'm watching real people. My only concern is that I hope we got to see the backstory of the two troublemakers, the foreign master and Dech. It would be nice to see where they came from and the reason of their motive aside from just being greedy. Nonetheless, the series is amazing.

I enjoyed how they show the truth about politics, society, and prejudice during that time. The blunt and unfiltered portrayals gave this piece of art a disturbing feeling but in a good way that will make you question your beliefs and morals.

Every detail and every scene was carefully shot as if I'm watching a high-quality movie every single episode. I'm not sure why some people are salty and tries looking for faults in this show. Frankly speaking, with the caliber of this series, I keep on questioning myself if I'm really watching a BL drama. This is a freakin' masterpiece people!

Without any bias I can say that "I Feel You Linger In The Air" is the BL to beat. THIS IS A MUST WATCH!

Outstanding

The Worst of Evil is an outstanding Kdrama, and not just in the noir genre. It is a fascinating story with captivating characters, stellar acting, great action sequences, THAT KISS, a touch of classic tragedy and a real departure from simplistic black-and-white storytelling. Very few of the characters in this drama are actually good, some are very very bad, and most of them fall somewhere in between.

The intriguing plot revolves around our policeman hero who goes undercover, partially to impress his wife’s family who think she married the wrong guy, and ends up working for his wife’s ex-boyfriend who is now a gangster and decidedly not a good person - though we forget that pretty quickly thanks to his charisma. The wife, anxious to help, gets involved with her ex, while our hero catches the fancy of a drug lord’s daughter, and is torn between real affection for the girl and loyalty to his wife. This is where the element of a classic tragedy comes into play. The wife only gets involved to help her husband, who only got involved in the first place to get her family off her back, and in a bitter case of irony, that is what destroys their marriage in the end.

The characters are so well written that I found myself rooting for the bad guys on numerous occasions. When their bag of drugs is stolen, my first thought was Oh No! before catching myself. These people make a living off the misery of others, but we don’t really care, do we, since many of the “bad” characters are really charming or have redeeming qualities. The drug lord’s daughter easily could have been a cliched figure, but she is ultimately just a girl unloved by her father, who’s a constant threat in the background, with her bodyguard / replacement father figure the only person she trusts until she meets our hero. And while not all if the gangsters are really bad, many of the “good guys" are not good at all. There is so much corruption and blind ambition displayed by some of the policemen that it is clear that the line between good and evil blurred a long time ago.

I can highly recommend this show to anyone who enjoys the crime & mystery genre, great storytelling, or just something very far removed from the bubbly secretary and chaebol heir type of stories (though I quite enjoy these stories too). My one and only point of criticism was actually the wife’s character. Not that she hooked up with her ex, because she had a good reason. No, I thought she is way too passive during the big fight, especially as a trained policewoman. Generally speaking, nothing riles me up more than the female character just standing by while her boyfriend gets beaten up, or falling over in a dead swoon as he comes to her rescue. This is a recurring theme in Kdramas, Hollywood movies, fairytales and just about everywhere else, and it’s bloody annoying. Other than that, this drama was a perfect 10.

Romance, Food and Music

I didn’t want to write a review so early in the series but l just could not help myself. I’m enjoying this series so much, everything is just falling into place with the characters. The setting is beautiful, Zhou Ye is amazing as usual and TJC’s voice?? (chef’s kiss).

The pacing is so good and l would not mind seeing this for the rest of my life.

If you are still second guessing on whether to start this series don’t hesitate by all means grab some food (because you are going to feel hungry when watching this) and enjoy.

See you at the end?.

Actually Quite Good

I stumbled upon this drama while checking the “Coming Soon” info in Viki. The title was interesting and so was the synopsis mentioning Sherlock Holmes (I have read every Sherlock Holmes story several times), so I put it on my Watchlist. Slightly deterred by the low ranking, but determined to give it a try, I started this show expecting a charming tale about amateur sleuths, some light-hearted banter, perhaps a bloated corpse or two, but overall a pleasant experience.

Ha! What I got was a dark tale of murder, rape, sexual abuse, lies, blackmail and yes, there was a bloated corpse. And a corpse in a car on fire. And a corpse on the beach with only one set of footsteps (but we all know it’s not suicide!). So once I adjusted my mindset, I began to enjoy the drama. It reminded me of British mystery shows, with the setting not the dark underbelly of London but the – for me – exotic location of Taiwan. I had never watched a Taiwanese show before, so that part alone was interesting. Dark and gritty, with many ambiguous characters who hide secrets, and lie to their friends, and yet we can understand why they act the way they act. I enjoy shows where not everything is black and white, good vs evil, and this one certainly fit that bill.

The murder mystery plot itself was okay, nothing spectacular but certainly not boring. There are only 10 episodes of about 45 min each, so it was a relatively quick watch. If you’re a fan of the crime & mystery genre, and want to watch something a little different, give this one a try.

Amazing drama

Must watch if you want to get small pretty butterflies. The acting is not cringe. Ost is good. Quality of drama is also good. However skipped some fillers some including 2nd lead.

The start was not slow, it was pretty much interesting
I wished they had shown more visuals over the historic part and made the ml a little bit more mischievous in further episodes , but it was okay as he liked the fl 1st.
The fl is a great actress, no overacting and no making cringe faces.
The romance development was the best part of the drama further best was strory and then the overall visualls of drama

Disappointing!!!!!

Started this season with really high expectations but it turned out to be a let down.
The thing that bugs me most is how little screen time the ML had in all of 8 episodes. After that huge growth in the last episode of S1, they just removed the ML as if it was a spin off with side characters, still didn't do any character development of those new characters.
Many scenario just happened repeatedly to increase time slot.
And trust me when I say the creatures looked more like TRANSFORMERS to me?

Best drama there is for romcom & fantasy.

I'm not much of a romance drama fan, I watched this because of Song Kang's awesome work on Sweet Home , wasn't expecting much since this was a romance drama but it piqued my interest the more I watched it & now I can't wait until they release a new episode. Really like how this is progressing. From cast to the crew everyone's doing a great job making this beautiful drama .Hope they will continue this for more seasons if there are more to told after Song Kang's return from 2 year military service. Highly recommended for those who are interested and not interested (Trust me you'll get hooked to this).

Sweetness Overload and the Male Lead is a walking Green Flag.

From episode one till now it never disappoint me. Every episode made me blush. Grabe yung kilig, shocks. For me, this is one of my favorite drama. Grabe yung chemistry between the FL and ML. Tapos respectful pa si Male Lead. Nag uumapaw na green flag. Shy type si Female lead and that's okay. Cutie lahat ng cast. Hoping na hindi masakit sa heart ending nito. I don't mind the 33 episodes as long as bibigyan nila tayo ng happy ending. Mukhang ibibigay naman. Ito yung drama na hindi ako nagskip kasi worth it every second ng drama. If I'm not mistaken 22 si FL and 29 si ML. Cutie ng age gap. Watch niyo na guys.Sabay sabay tayong kiligin. ❤️

It was good until the ending came

At first i really liked it, the acting is perfect, and so is the plot, but as i came to the end, it kind of went down from it. shortly i wont really think to rewatch it, it is sad that the end ruined the good of the story. by the way it is my opinion and there are probably people who will think different from me.
p.s why does it have to be 500 words ????helppppp

Romance Drama Perfection!

Disclaimer first: I'm a huge Dylan Wang fan since MG2018, so some bias may occur.

If you're a fan of the 'OMG when will they finally end up together and get over themselves??' - genre, this is the drama for you. The sweet taste of frustration when any of the characters does not speak their mind and/or heart, letting misunderstandings rise and being unnecessarily shy or insecure. It's horrible, but I love it. Especially when these shenanigans are being portrayed so perfectly as here. ALL 3 (or 4, if you count the boss lady and the uncle) have this trick down hard.
It's a drama like a one of those paperback romance novels. Including the hothothot kisses. I will for sure put this one high up on my re-watch list!!

This is the 3rd drama I've seen with Bai Lu and Dylan Wang as leads and I must say they are indeed a match made in heaven. Their chemistry is electric and they are so natural together. Bai Lu has great chemistry with more actors, but this pairing is exceptional.
Dylan Wang is getting better and better, but his best performance is still the 'Tsundere', the on the surface cold and distant man, but when thawed is a big bowl of charm.
This couple is playing the attract and reject game like pro's. I have been yelling at the screen at them en almost cried in frustration. They could have been married with kids in the first 10 eps, but instead choose to listen to horrible advise and their own huge inferiority complexes. Even a monk telling them they're meant to be doesn't help.
The 2nd couple is possibly even worse! 2 people very much in love but both thinking the other likes their freedom more than them and purposely misunderstanding or running away. Aarrrgghhh. I love it. It keeps me continuously entertained and invested.

Even though there's continuous drama, it never gets boring or bland. This is mostly due to the actors, who are so good at emoting and subtext. The best scene? For me the suduction sequence, where FL tries to get ML to sleep with her, but he has no clue, until he literally gets the message.

Does this drama have Red Flags? Ohhh yess. Many. Women as well as men. All of them have their own shade of red.
Does this drama have cliche's ? Almost nothing but. But that's also why it's so comforting and appealing to me. I really miss these kind of cliche's done well. Here they're done perfectly.
Is this drama for everyone? Probably not, but who cares? Give it a try!

*cue dramatic violin and drums intro*

Ahh, soap operas... who doesn’t love them once in a while? This is my very first Thai Lakorn which, I confess, I only watched for queer romance in a historical setting (with a bonus NOT tragic ending). As soap operas go, this is one of the most bearable ones - no temporary amnesia, love triangles or 100 episodes worth of meandering plot. That is not to say it’s without the signature genre traits: there’s an overabundance of scheming family members and misunderstandings and crying and repetitive conversations but it’s worth it for the gorgeous love story and the unfading bond between two brothers.

When Thailand is offering a gay romance and a soap opera all in one, it would seem a moot point to hope for fleshed-out female characters, right? WRONG. I was pleasantly surprised that women not only dominate the cast (the only men of importance are the three leads) but they are overall, besides glitter and romance, the best part of the drama. The actresses are by far the better performers, each given at least a couple scenes to really shine; the women are different and complex, and every single one is given more depth by the end. Rightfully, it seems that all the budget went into their costumes, while the city this takes place in was relegated to the same three (3) streets. I cannot tell how accurate the dresses were to the time period but they were certainly beautiful and eye-catching.

I only have a few other things to say to convince you to watch this: glitter poison fights, a straight romance that is as adorable as it is watchable, Tian's secret, scissors, women murdering men.
