Breaking the top and bottom stereotypes

Sep 27, 2023

WHOA, I finished this drama in like one sitting, I kid you not.

First of all, I was a bit shooked about finding the seme and the uke of this drama. It is good that they are breaking the stereotypes placed among mlm relationships. The plot of the drama is okay, it does feel a bit inconsistent but apparently this was adapted from a manhwa. SO guess who is about to read that manhwa since I want more details regarding the plot prognosis and such.

Yul and Chan's chemistry is so amazing. Chan really embodied that baby girl type of behaviour especially with the acting and the actor's delivery of lines. As for Yul, the switch up from his grumpy cold nature, to the more smily and carefree vibes later on was chef's kiss.

Love Tractor is definitely part of the generic and fluffy type content of korean BLs that are released this year. But something about it is just so interesting to watch. I feel like they really ate with the country side type of drama. I hope there are more like this to be released in the near future.

Innocent, sweet, light, heart fluttering romance.

Really enjoyed this short drama. The romance was very sweet and made my heart flutter.

I love how fast paced the drama was but at the same time, it didn't feel rushed. We got to see Do Hoon come to have feelings for Yoon Soo each episode and it was really cute to witness. Yoon Soo was also a fun character to watch; he was a master flirt and I loved how he'd always tease DH by getting all up in his personal space and making DH flustered. This drama will definitely have you giggling and holding your breath to see what happens next.

Aside from the romance, I also enjoyed seeing DH and YS in their respective workplaces. I liked all the interactions with the side characters too, even the intern who was crushing on DH.

The only thing I didn't like much was the misunderstandings between DH and YS because of YS's past relationship. I didn't like how both characters handled their feelings about it, but it's a short drama and I understand that a drama needs, well, drama...so I'm not too mad about it. Also, I sorta felt like YS was a bit too nice(?) with the way he handled his ex. Like, idk, I'd have preferred if he was more harsh to him especially considering the lengths the ex took to try to get back with him...but they'd been together for three years so maybe there was still some leftover affection there....(I don't think the drama intended for this to be the takeaway, but that was just the undertone I got from the whole ex-plotline which left a bad taste in my mouth and made me low-key side more with DH's feelings).

The acting was okay. I liked DH's actor the most. The character and actor himself reminded me of Ji Hyun from the Eight Sense; they both have that adorable and aloof vibe to them so it made watching him really fun. I mainly just had a problem with YS's actor and the intern. The intern's actor just came across as unnatural, but more like in a novice actor kind of way, which is understandable. Whereas my problem with YS's actor was the character always had this perpetual smile on his face. Idk if it was how the character was written or if thats just the direction the actor took. The smile was just so constant it made me uncomfortable in the beginning lmao. YS just always had a specific smile on his face regardless of whether the scene called for that kind of expression, so it really just pulled me out of the scene at times.

Overall, however, it's a really sweet, and light drama. For a short drama, it actually has some depth to it too which was nice.

Best k-drama webtoon adaptation

17 whole episodes just for background introduction story, I have no complain. for a deep serious story it should be that way.
almost every character is meaningful, the only problem is player role ambiguity. I assume flying boy is the mc since he is the one that has most character development through the story so far.

every character developed for the better or worse. main role, villains, even a support characters like the bully does.
at last a k-drama that gives a thoughtful love for their characters existed. let the original author do the drama writing really payoff.

last 3 episode rushed so much, many will think that still so much left out unsolved plot. moving might be planned to be multi season series, but there has to be a proper ending like episodes for this season. multi season or not last 3 episodes still bring a decent last battle vibes, pretty nice.

I'm surprised that I have no complains in the story progression or the characters, in the future k-drama webtoon adaptation really need to let the original author to do the writings or at least let them actively contribute in the writing process.

now moving to mainstream battle comic stories problem, power scaling. I'm a flipping geek, I cant believe myself talking about power scaling in a k-drama.
first of all, most op regeneration. this far regeneration means immortal, frank is still alive even after get burned yet gouged eye doesn't heal how far a wound can heal or not still uncertain.
another might be op power shown is time stop, only shown a little bit but if wanted to be shown later on this need to have certain limitation
then the induction power, in the ending shown a lightning strike. but power source of a bus definitely doesn't sufficient. a lightning strike carries at least 1 billion joules energy which needs several electrical bus energy to do that. lets say its not actually as powerful as natural thunder strike its just visual, in this series this power so far represented as the weakest when supposed to be the strongest. with proper power source bungaeman is basically a super human canon. a gun bullet speed is mach its already almost impossible to dodge, while electricity is speed of light nothing can escape that canon.

in summary, im pretty happy with this adaptation. I usually says that adaptation better to stick with the original webtoon as much as possible. but not this one, it doesnt matter this series is good enough as stand alone series. lets just hope disney will make season 2 happens

Even My Leg Hair Is Beautiful

"I'm the most beautiful and lovely fairy. Even my leg hair is beautiful." -FL

Updated at the end:

What can I say? This drama appealed to me more than "The Eternal Love" did. The ML has real "good guy" energy to him, and so does our FL. I have seen this ML in a number of other dramas, wherein he had all the charisma of a chair (made of wood). Not so with this drama! The FL and ML worked so well together that they won me over. I didn't even have Second Male Lead Syndrome for once. Their PDAs felt authentic and they msde each other interesting as characters to watch. Excellent casting choice here.

I love that the item that allows the characters to time slip is a meteorite stone. Haven't seen that used in a drama before.... or in any story, now that I think about it.

The story is nothing new. It's full of tropes, but I am very entertained, which is all I can ask for in a fluffy drama like this one. Oh! And the quote above that the FL said; I copied it out and will be repeating it as an affirmation.

So... this drama crashed and burned after the 20th episode. 20 episodes was all it could handle before running out of ideas and running off the rails into melodrama city. Should I take the rating down for this? I think in this case, the core charm was so strong that I will just pretend there were only 20 episodes to this series.

Be My Favorite was definitely a favorite

Since I've only seen Krist in "The Jungle", and Fluke in "Dark Blue Kiss" and "Not Me" (where I skipped most of his parts) I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Krist x Fluke. To my surprise, they made a cute couple; they definitely had chemistry though the romance wasn't romantic. However, I'd say that was due to the pacing and direction of the show after Pisaeng and Kawi actually started dating.

For the most part, the earlier episodes were enjoyable. I found myself laughing a lot and really invested in Krist's character but halfway through the show Kawi sort of did a 180 and became unruly and unreasonable; presumably the anti-social in him. I don't mind the changes as he has his own reasons but I was let down that there were no real consequences for his rash conduct. Everyone, especially Pisaeng, tends to forgive him right away as long as Kawi says sorry or whines a little. And if that doesn’t work, Kawi would bring up his dad’s illness or his poor background and would then get a pass. I’m not blaming Kawi, I think the show actually did well in showcasing this aspect. Since Kawi is anti-social, he’s going to be indifferent, self-absorbed, and in this case a sympathy seeker. And well, who doesn’t love a flawed main character? Kawi also mentions working as a stress factor but we never got to see him work or know what he did...? Maybe I missed it but not sure how he supported himself before his future self traveled to the past.

As for Pisaeng, I only feel three ways about him: I like him, I feel bad for him, and I don’t understand him. Pisaeng is nice, kind, loyal, honorable, and personable. All good traits that made him perfect as Kawi’s punching bag. In regards to his character, I only wish the show dived more into why he believes or thinks his mother leans towards homophobia and/or is unaccepting of his orientation. Since it was never hinted and instead she’s only denied him so many times and revealed to have a lot of employees in the LGBTQ+ community. She also doesn’t love her son any more or less for being gay. Plus we saw that Max, who’s part of the community, really admires Pisaeng’s mother. Pisaeng only exudes negativity when he’s with his mother and I truly want to know why.
I'm not a fan of Pisaeng painting his mother as homophobic when she was only doing what she thought a good mother would do for her child. I, however, did like that Pisaeng called his mother out on what she ‘thinks is best for him’ while never considering ‘what makes him happy’. I mean THAT was beautiful!

I like Max. He’s the kind of character that is a voice of reason for the leads and audience. I just wished his friendship with Kawi wasn’t as one-sided as it was (I can’t remember one thing or time Kawi did Max a favor or helped him with his cause. Even in their 30s and Kawi as a celebrity, Max took care of him. Kawi recognized the giver-taker relationship with Pisaeng but somehow didn’t notice it in his friendship with Max).

Even though I’m a bit disappointed that Kawi got away with some things, I’m more disappointed that Not/Knot got away with A LOT. However, these disappointments don’t affect the overall rating because once again it’s a good reflection of the real world.

Overall the show gets a 9.5 from me because although I was annoyed towards the middle, lost interest in the last two episodes, and wasn’t satisfied with how certain situations were handled (i.e. Krist not wanting to have s*x but never expressing it to Pisaeng and they just ended up doing it), I took a lot away from this series. I had fun and loved that it was slightly different. I especially like that Kawi, towards the end, said they should live their lives where they would never want to go back [to the past] and fix it. I thought that was clever and eye-opening. This was definitely one of those light-hearted and feel-good series and I’m glad I checked it out!

i love joongdunk with all my heart but i feel like this wasnt it 😭 lets just say if its not joongdunk, i honestly would not (??) watch this. very questionable storyline and like i dont get where its going like whats the main point. the first few episodes about Zo liking Nita and Joke being the third person were actually so investing, i feel like starting from there they could’ve just add more about it and not about those random debate club thing that doesnt really matter 😭 and then it started becoming a story about families like 😞⁉️ also jeng/pok or aou/boom NEEDS MORE SCREENTIME. they barely even get any screentime and i love them sm. i thought i would get more on the last episode but no 😭

unfortunately not max score

The story and pace is right, but extra scenes in school in original weekly episodes are cut off. So unrequited love from Lee Wan is actually not that convincing... The actors are good esp Gi Tae who can use his eyes expression very effectively. His personality is remarkable. This production is doing right even you can see about its low budget, but it is still good.

I try to think how they will add that extra scenes in movie and it is so difficult!! because mood and scene transitions will be not that smooth. I think they originally filmed for weekly air because time event skip is still obvious but acceptable in movie. You actually see this skip/discontinuity in weekly episodes but it is skipped after 1 episode, so I think it is good enough.

It is hard to choose, but I gonna recommend weekly episodes due to extra scenes, which fill Lee wan's feeling/experience and it fits the theme dating simulator game more. (You cannot feel that much in movie)

P.S. I like this serie colors, you can see Gi Tae usually has a lot of green color, I like his room design and especially his headphone. (if someone know headphone brand, pls anewer me >> thanks in advance !!)

Angel Terminators was a dark entry in the Girls with Guns genre. With the exception of Kenneth Tsang's Big Bad, the predominant cast members were all women---Sharon Yeung, Kara Hui, Carrie Ng, Nishiwaki Michiko, and Cheng Yuen Man. There was plenty of action and misogyny to go around. Not as coherent as Michelle Yeoh's 'Yes Madam' it still had enough kung fu and gun play to satisfy people who enjoy the genre.

The film started out clumsily with a car chase and gun fire. Ida and Hon seem to always be in the neighborhood when super cops are needed to bring down bad guys, including a kindergarten being held hostage by jewelry thieves. As Hon is leaving on a plane for Scotland to further her training, Sawada is landing. Sawada has been in Thailand for seven years to avoid being arrested. He has come to town to reclaim his drug and criminal territory. Ida's snitch, a prostitute named May, feeds her intel about Sawada's huge drug deal going down. The cops arrive and a ferocious shootout ensues. Sawada has a mole in the police department who helps him set up an ambush for Ida in retaliation for her interfering in his business. The mole is a gambler who happens to be married to Carrie, Sawada's former lover. Before long Ida and Carrie are in dire trouble when they find themselves in the frightening clutches of Nishiwaki.

Firearm acuity was not the movie's strong point. The opening shootout showed shooters trying to push the bullets out of their guns or closing their eyes when shooting. Another time when the police had the high ground and the bad guys surrounded they still managed to miss most of the baddies. Sharon could hold her own in the fists and kicks fight department and make the moves believable even when they defied gravity. Ida could have beaten the Olympic pole vault record by about twenty feet. With kung fu veterans like Alan Chui Chung San and Dick Wei, Sharon always had an accomplished opponent to spar with. Jacky Chen designed several creative fights though I don't envy the stuntmen who took some hard falls. The Hong Kong police department in the movie was going to need a hiring push after a significant portion of its police officers were mowed down.

This film would have been more entertaining if they'd left the Very Special Episode about Drug Abuse out of the middle section. I also deducted points for a scene where Sawada urinated all over Carrie, the woman he supposedly loved. It was disgusting and unnecessary. When the film focused on Sharon and Kara, either their friendship or when they fought the baddies together it was at its strongest. The two women had nice chemistry together and I fail to understand why they split them up for much of the movie. Angel Terminators kept the action and adrenaline pumped up, never slowing down to let the writer put together a more coherent plotline. The ending was bonkers and baffling. Only for Girls with Guns fans or old kung fu addicts.

I like how their life end after the story, how about you?

Lin Ru Lan's story was sad and painful throughout the drama, also for Meng Wan and many other girls who became Wu Lian's victims. Wu Lian can still walk around freely in most of the drama too, which really makes me angry. When Wu Lian got his own karma, I was the one who was happy about it, even until the end of his life I was still less willing because he only experienced a little of what all the girls faced, who had to endure guilt and shame throughout their lives.

The plot does take us to see Wu Lian's past and the "reason" why he acted so evilly, but I still couldn't feel sympathy for him. Having a bad past is not an excuse for him to hurt other people.

Apart from the ending of the drama which was satisfying for me, I liked the special episode (eps 25), because we were told what the life story of all the characters in this drama would be, if all these events had not happened. How Wu Lian chose to stay on the right track. Meng Wan and Lin Ru Lan didn't know each other, and the others also had a good life too, only they didn't know each other. I'm satisfied with the special episode!

Even though this drama is emotional, there are many scenes that are more or less related to women's lives, both in that era and now. Hopefully no one will ever experience something like Faithful 九义人.

I found the show to be quite enjoyable overall. However, I must admit that there were numerous scenes throughout that left me feeling rather uncomfortable. It is important to note that the acting, in my opinion, did not quite meet my expectations. The delivery of lines often felt forced or unnatural, which made it difficult for me to fully immerse myself in the story. I believe that stronger performances could have elevated the show and made it even more enjoyable.

Despite these criticisms, I still believe that the show had its merits.

This show sorely lacks a coherent plot. Instead, it relies heavily on repetitive and melodramatic scenes of Fiat's tearful outbursts, followed by conveniently resolved crises presented in a disjointed manner. It is a perplexing and frustrating viewing experience, to say the least.

One of the major flaws lies in the portrayal of the central relationship, which is undeniably one-sided. One party constantly gives, while the other consistently takes without reciprocation. Initially, this dynamic may hold some intrigue, but it quickly becomes tiresome and predictable. It is essential for a series to evolve and offer a more balanced and dynamic relationship to maintain audience engagement.

Furthermore, the series fails to delve deeper into the complexities of the characters and their motivations. Instead, it relies on surface-level portrayals, leaving much to be desired in terms of character development.

I can tolerate a certain degree of flaws in a drama as long as there is at least one character that I can connect with and find likable. However, this particular drama failed to provide even that basic requirement. To be honest, it was utterly nonsensical and left me feeling perplexed. The characters themselves were unappealing, and their actions seemed to lack consistency throughout the series. In fact, I would go as far as to say that half of them were downright despicable individuals. It wasn't until the final episode, during a brief five-minute period, that any sort of redemption or resolution was attempted, effectively disregarding all the previous episodes' shortcomings.

What baffled me even more was the fact that this drama revolved around an arranged marriage, yet there was no actual marriage taking place. It felt like a major letdown, as the premise held potential for interesting developments. Unfortunately, the writing was so subpar that it failed to even reach the level of being "funny" bad. Instead, it was simply painful to watch. This was the first time I found myself fast-forwarding through parts of a drama, as I couldn't bear to endure the entirety of it.

10 stars because trauma

Like all the others I fall in love with, I ask again, why did I put off watching this. All the ones I love sit in my watchlist for quite some time before I actually watch them. But then I have way too many on my watch list but man. LOVED the mental health representation. This one was so relatable in many aspects. The villain of the story still couldn't get past my ADHD character analysis brain, so I called it pretty early on. There was a couple times I said "oh didn't see that coming." so I give them props for that.
Cried and if you have read my one other review then you will know that's a favorite of mine so if you too enjoy crying, and you too have trauma, definitely worth the watch.
