Deeply Engaging Story, sizzling chemistry between Lusi and Anyu and Wowza! Special Effects!

I am addicted to this show. On days it is not telecast, I watch reruns of the episodes or youtube clips of spoilers.
I started with a noncommitted approach but by the end of Episode 2- I was hooked - line and sinker.
This Chinese drama is an epic rollercoaster ride filled with mind-bending mysteries and heart-melting romance that will have you hooked.
The storyline is straight out of the cosmic universe, blending ancient legends with futuristic vibes that will leave you saying, "Whoa, that was lit!" šŸ”„ Imagine a world where immortality is within reach, but at what cost? "The Last Immortal" delves deep into this concept, offering a fresh twist on the age-old quest for eternal life.
The characters in this show are like squad goals incarnate. Gu Jin played by the ridiculously talented Wang Anyu brings a boyish charm to his character. You'll find yourself shipping Feng Yin / A Yin ( a brilliant Zhao Lusi) with both the leads (no spoilers here!), and trust me, the chemistry between them is off the charts!
Now, let's talk about the visuals. The cinematography in "The Last Immortal" is straight-up dope! šŸ“ø From breathtaking landscapes to stunning CGI effects, every frame is Instagram-worthy. You'll want to screenshot every scene and set it as your wallpaper, no cap! šŸ“øšŸŒŸ.
And the soundtrack? Major bops all around! šŸŽ¶ The music choices in this drama perfectly capture the feels of each moment, whether it's an intense action sequence or a heartwarming romantic encounter. You'll definitely be adding these tracks to your playlist ASAP! šŸŽ§šŸŽµ
But it's not just about the visuals and music; "The Last Immortal" tackles deep themes like love, sacrifice, and the pursuit of a higher purpose. That's some real woke content right there! šŸ¤”šŸ’
"The Last Immortal" is a must-watch for anyone who craves a thrilling blend of mystery, romance, and futuristic vibes.
Get ready to be shooketh, fam! šŸ’ÆšŸæ #TheLastImmortal

A goblin, grip reaper, fox, alien, vampire, and now a demon!

It's like collecting Pokemon, and now there's another piece that fits into the puzzle.

If you looking for something incredibly new and mindblowing, then this is NOT it; if you looking for something light-hearted that has beautiful visuals, comedy, and romance, and to just pass the time ~ this is it!

The story takes the typical cliche and mixes it to make something unique using;
- A female CEO who is rich and strong āœ…
- A demon who becomes a bodyguard āœ…
- A contract marriage of convenienceāœ…
- A murder mystery surrounding a chaebol conflict āœ…
- Past life lovers (?)āœ…

The humor and the chemistry are captivating in many scenes; the love between the leads can be felt through their eyes and actions. The annoying and creepy characters (especially the family of the FL) keep you on your toes. And some of the characters (cough second FL & ML) make your blood boil.

The story was consistent in delivering and keeping up with the pacings, chemistry, and romance through! Honestly, give it a shot and it will have you hooked on the first episode!

This is basically a romance set during the 1980 Gwanju protests. I thought that the Romeo and Juliet couple, beautifully acted by Lee Do Hyun and Go Min Si, pulled all of the appropriate heartstrings. But the characters surrounding them leaned melodramatic and simplistic. The evil villains, for example, were simply evil, whose evil acts were motivated by evilness. The troubled relationship between Kim Myung Hee and her father did not resonate with me because the whole thing seemed kind of over the top but, at the same time, petty. The Lee siblingsā€™ characters had little depth or complexity. And the Gwanju protests and why and how everything went horribly wrong seemed to be simply background noise, albeit terrible background noise, to move the love story along.

The drama is decent, although not my favorite Jung Kyung Ho drama. I think that he did a great acting job as usual, along with the always terrific Park Sung Woong and Lee El. I think that Lee Seol suffered by comparison, particularly her one-note portrayal of Girl Gone Bad. But it was the script and story arc that I had the most problems with. The drama took on the topics of free will and divine guidance and made kind of a mess, which isnā€™t that surprising considering that theologists and philosophers have wrestled with those topics for centuries. I appreciate the fact that this drama made the attempt. Iā€™ve noticed a lot of recent dramas dealing with the subject of free will and a characterā€™s struggle to act independently of an omnipotent being, whether itā€™s a god or gods, manga writer, or game creator. Itā€™s an interesting subject and deserves a better drama.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story about young love. Watching the drama does require a large amount of suspension of belief because none of the characters look like athletes, particularly the so-called weightlifters. The swimmers also don't have the proper physique or form. (Why couldn't they have used a body double for the swimming scenes?) But the friends to lovers story is charming and well done, not least because Nam Joohyuk's acting is natural, relaxed, and believable. I could have done without the birth mother story line but luckily it didn't take up too much time.

An All Time Classic with the perfect mix of Action, Fun, and Drama!

Where do I even start with this amazing K-Drama? I may be slightly biased with this K-Drama because of the obviously heavy focus on Catholicism but this k-drama instantly hooked me in the very first minutes of it. The character introduction of Father Kim was instantly iconic, the presentation of how he moves and his fiery personality made him larger than life. Kim Nam Gil does a perfect and flawless job in his portrayal of Father Kim, nobody else in Korea could have done what he did with the role. Right from the start The Fiery Priest does a wonderful job in establishing the tone of the entire K-Drama showing both a comedic side and a more serious side while adding in some actually pretty amazing action scenes with some fantastic choreography which is always a crucial thing for me when it comes to watching a K-Drama. It never strays away from the set tone once throughout the entire series. It expertly mixes it all together allowing for the viewer to laugh and enjoy the really fun and happy moments while feeling the emotion of the serious scenes.

One of the biggest motifs of the Fiery Priest is redemption focusing around Father Kim redeeming his two main partners in taking on the corrupt council that runs Gudam. It handles redemption in a perfect pace allowing for a proper pay off of Father Kim's two main partners. His first partner, Goo Dae Young, starts off as a foolish unlikeable corrupt goofball and turns into a brave passionate police officer who wants to protect the innocence at all costs while still being a goofball. Kim Sung Kyun does a great job in showing the duality of both forms of his character and acts as a great counterpart to Father Kim. Father Kim's second partner, Prosecutor Park Kyung Sun starts off as a crazy dirty backstabber who wants to get promoted at all costs and becomes a cunning brave, smart, and bold upholder of the law even if it makes her lose her job. Lee Ha Nee does such a perfect job with the role, really owning the craziness of the character. All of this is done through Father Kim's influence over them. Another person Father Kim influences in a good direction is Goo Dae Young's rookie partner, Seo Seung Ah, while she starts off already good and wanting to take on the corrupt Gudam gang, Father Kim makes he really brave and even stronger in her pursuit of doing good, I loved how Geum Sae Rok made her such a loveable character right from the start.

One of my favorite things the Fiery Priest did was it gave every main character a proper backstory on why they do the things they do which allows for a more in-depth look into the psyche of the character giving even more life and a feeling of natural connection to the characters. It's truly amazing how many character's got a proper backstory. The Fiery Priest held consistent to this all throughout the series which showed the screenwriter and director really knew their characters.

The supporting cast was fantastic with Father Kim's fellow clergy to his friends around Gudam especially Ssongsak, his growth as a character was amazing throughout the series, becoming a character I couldn't wait for the next scene he was in. Hwang Cheol Bum and his gang especially Jang Ryong were great fodder to Father Kim's fiery path of justice. Everything about this cast from the top to the very bottom was pure perfection, I wouldn't even change a single casting nor remove or add any single character.

The pacing of the Fiery Priest was perfect, it never once dragged on for even a single second. Every single scene had quality and entertainment which kept my eyes glued to my tv at all times watching this perfect K-Drama. The one slight disappointment I had was the quality of the filming which isn't the fault of anyone really, it's what SBS had given to the director but he did a wonderful job as is with it. The soundtrack from the OST to the background music is amazing, especially Hero by Norazo, it's such an energetic track that matches the fire and passion that Father Kim has.

This is my second K-Drama I have watched that was directed by Lee Myung Woo, the first I watched of his was Backstreet Rookie which was my first ever perfectly scored K-Drama, this man really knows how to put together a perfect cohesive and consistent K-Drama. Seeing Eum Moon Suk and Ahn Chang Hwan who both appeared and interacted with each other in Backstreet Rookie again in the Fiery Priest made me so happy, especially how they both developed a friendship toward the very end.

One final thing, I really loved how The Fiery Priest respected and treated Catholicism with honor and due diligence. Never once did I find anything disrespectful or offensive to my faith. Father Kim has become one of my all time favorite Catholic non-fiction heroes, he might even be in my Top 3 now next to Daredevil and Robocop!

I really really really love The Fiery Priest, I can't wait for the rumored second season! I'd recommend this K-Drama to absolutely everyone!

Choi Hyun Wook is the standout here. He is such a great actor that he steals every scene he is in. The story itself is about bullying in a high school and how a ragtag group of students band together to defend themselves. I wish that the bullies had been portrayed with as much nuance and moral ambiguity as the "weak heroes," instead of just being your typical bad guys. It would have made for a more interesting drama. But this is still pretty good, primarily due to the stellar acting by the young actors.

A little gift from Santa fr

So many good shows have been coming out this month, especially this one. I had such high expectations coming into this to the point that I was worried it wouldnā€™t reach my expectations, but goodness golly gee I think this show far exceeded my already sky-high expectations fr

The writing for this show so far is so captivatingly written, and it has an interesting blend to it. Itā€™s meaningful, suspenseful, and actually quite humorous. Speaking of the humor, if youā€™re interested in stories with some dark comedy in it, this would be a great show for you. The writing for the characters is phenomenal as well; each character is very memorable, and I love how each of lives that the protagonist enters serves an important purpose to the plot, despite a quarter of those lives being extremely short-lived (im talking especially about the ceo and the skydiver guy lmao).

The acting was great, I mean you canā€™t expect anything less from the avengers type cast this show has (I swear every reel I see talking about this show is of the user thirsting over the cast lmao). The cinematography is amazing as well; the shots are creative and the coloring is just right.

Anyways pookies Iā€™m really bad at writing reviews but the point is this show is rlly good and you guys should like watch it frfr (especially for the cast)

Good Acting and CGI, but failed on the Narrative

Ever since One Piece live-action came out right, I had high hopes that the following live-actions from now on will be at least decent since OP proved that it can be done, but i'm still on the fence since it's always gonna be 50-50 when it comes to adapting an anime or manga into a live-action.

In the beginning, it was really really good. I think the first 2 episodes had good pacing and writing, but in the remaining 3 episodes, the pacing of the story started really becoming fast, like 100 miles an hour. I think right that if they wanna condense the story all the way to defeating Toguro if the higher-ups behind this had no choice but to really condense it all, if they had at least given it 10 episodes run time, i think it would be a decent enough time to give the characters some depth and their dynamic/chemistry with the other characters and take the time to build up the story enough.

I think what really carried this adaptation, to compensate for the fast-paced story is the good action and CGI. My god, the fight choreographies here are so good, whoever is in charge in that department did a really good job, the fights are really awesome. And the CGI, they poured in some money in their goddamn, it came out really really good and clean and I like how they visualize the realms, it's so beautiful, props to the art heads behind those set, that why i think if this had more episodes, it could've taken the time and showcase the realms, cuz they just brushed it off as if it's just there.

The characters, again because the story is fast-paced AF we didn't even get that much time to get really invested in these characters, but they showed enough for us to care, aside from our mc Yusuke and Kuwabara, because in the beginning, they build them up fairly well. The acting... you know, i hate it in japanese films when the actors imitate the anime acting in real life, like you're not a fictional entity, why are you imitating this thing that only works in animation? but here i think the actors did a good job at portraying the characters. I think the only actor that really embodied the anime acting, but still came out really good was Kazuma. He's so good and can we just appreciate how alluring the voices of the actors? like my god! I'm using in-ears watching this show right and ooohhf! them voices tho!! It's so asmr coded. The costumes of some of these actors, like it didn't look like they were cosplaying at all, we probably aside from Hiei. When i first saw him, he really looked just like a cosplayer, but everybody else they really are in tune with their characters.

Overall, as a fan, this was a really good adaptation in terms of action and cgi, but i'm disappointed because they failed in the story for how fast it is. If you're someone who's never heard of Yu Yu Hakusho before and you're going in blindly in this, i think this is a good gateway for the anime or its manga.

Iā€™ve missed thisā€¦Reminds me why I fell in love with K-Dramas in the first place?

This show is everything I love and miss about Korean dramas. Iā€™m trying to take my time watching it after binging the first few episodes because I donā€™t want it to end.

The visual appeal alone, just the visual appeal of the two main leads is enough of a reason to watch the drama! Not to be vain or someone who obsesses over looks but itā€™s undeniable that itā€™s way more entertaining, enjoyable, makes onr happier, to watch very attractive people on television.

Song Kang- GORGEOUS, Kim Yoo-Jung- GORGEOUS. They are practically a work of art when placed together and Iā€™m in love. I unfortunately began to ship them in real life because they look too good together to be paired with anyone else other than each other. LOL Iā€™m really obsessed with them right now but all jokes aside, they are so cute and the chemistry is chemistrying. I fear Iā€™ll never get over this one yā€™all, pray for mešŸ˜‚šŸ¤

I havenā€™t been watching a lot of Korean dramas recently because itā€™s so hard to find a good romance with both actors that I can enjoy and a good compelling story or are good enough chemistry because even if the story is not that good if the chemistry is good enough I can get through it because theyā€™re a cute couple. Iā€™m so happy about watching this drama. Itā€™s making me crave Korean dramas like I used to in the past. Iā€™m only on episode six now. I hope that it stays as beautiful and fun entertaining as it is until the end so that the rewatch value is high.

Wasted Potential

This drama is genuinely the definition of wasted potential. They had such an amazing idea/concept and could've executed so many different ways but they failed. I want to preface this by saying I love thriller/horror dramas, they are my bread and butter. I stayed up until 2 am binging this entire series HOPING it got better. Let's break down every part where they failed.

The main characters lacked so much depth. We don't even know when or how the two leads met. They show a flashback of some trauma that the male lead has but they never go into detail about what is or what happened. How are we, as viewers, supposed to empathize and support the main characters, if we know nothing about them?

This drama was also so infuriating to watch. everyone acted like an idiot. I'm not one to usually criticize the dumb actions of characters in thrillers because they're usually under a lot of stress, but some of the things they did. WOW. The bullies of the group kinda got to do as they pleased with no repercussions. It genuinely made no sense how they got to do whatever and manipulate everyone. The good guys just kind of let it happen. The female lead had her moments where she made some smart decisions, but she was also the type of female lead who was kind to a fault. She let the bully do as she pleased and would forgive her no matter what. The male lead kinda just stood by and let it happen. He "stopped" it a couple of times, but he also just pretended like it didn't happen and he'd be chill with the bully. There are multiple bully groups and it makes no sense how they survived as long as they did. I get that they were manipulative, but how did everyone put up with their attitude for so long. It's usually not as bad in other dramas bc the leads counteract the bullies but the leads in this series are just like bystanders.

This one is minor but it was just kinda like wtf. The sound that's played every time there is an announcement is the same exact sound from "The Purge." That should speak for itself.

I didn't wanna include any spoilers so I'm going to do my best to explain how bad this was. The reveal of the motive of the "antagonist" didn't make sense. To a degree it made sense, but it didn't explain why everyone in the class had to be punished instead of just the bullies.

It's hard to do a review without spoilers especially when I have to explain why things were bad. I just kinda felt sad. I really did want to like this drama and I just felt extreme disappointment. There were also multiple plot holes that I wouldn't be able to explain without spoilers so I'm going to be omitting them. I can't believe I was late to work the next day because I stayed up for this drama. wasted potential and a whole lotta disappointment.

It could have been the best based solely on the aesthetics

The strength of MJTY lies in the cinematography and the various eye candy actors yet it still falls prone to the C drama Achilles heel where the audience is given a taut beginning that rapidly descends into hum -drum. Time and again the middle will drag and answers that could have been provided incrementally are dumped at the last minute. In addition, there was barely any chemistry between Esther Yu and Zhang Ling He with both performances verging on robotic, meanwhile, Ryan Cheng and Tian Jia Rui's looks and performances overshadowed the main leads.

Also, the fight scenes were a tad acrobatic-ish (and boring) with multiple skirts flying amid the ridiculous gymnastics but overall a good drama

ITā€™S FUN! Have an open mind ^^b

As a 34 year old fan of the original animated series who watched it a lot in my youth, I can easily say that this live adaptation was fun. I really like it. I didnā€™t go in expecting it to follow the series to a t, which probably helps. Some of the fight scenes were pretty wicked, like when Urameshi fought his first yokai (and so many more.) Iā€™d watch it again. And I hope thereā€™s a season two in all honesty. My only complaint is that I have an intermediate understanding of Japanese and some of the English translations bugged me, but not enough to ruin the watch. ^^b

It's pretty good! Really!

Geez, ya know I was thinking "oh no not another baking series", now I'm like "ya know this should have been a longer series. " Seems too short and the writers got lost a few times. I can see the writers going like "oh shit we only have 2 episodes left." LOL
Seriously folks, the cast was really great. Ohm is a so-so acter but I really hated Shin in this series so I have to say Ohm did a good job at portraying an unlikeable character. All Guide has to do is smile and he's adding to the series. So with all it's flaws this is really an 8.0 series but I rated it a 9.0 that's because the cast was so strong even with a poorly written script...AND the rating here on MDL is too low. Yeah it's not right but that's what I do. (lol)
I would have liked to have seen Atom with someone and yeah Guy and Oab would have been sweet.
BTW I thought Grandma was just great.
For sure someone with a keen insight could have made this into an 8 or even 10 episodes and improved the story line.
This was so close. It is still watchable and for me rewatchable.
Lastly, It's better than most of the other series that have been airing the last half of 2023.

captivating highs and occasional lows

The entirety was just a rollercoaster, with captivating highs and occasional lows that make you contemplate skipping ahead.

Predictable ending aside, Lee Rang's fate left me wanting more. Despite his character being awful in ghe first part of the show (arguably the entirety until the last two episodes) I still felt the desire to see his character development in the end, especially after the small glimpse we've been already given. The show's strength lies in gripping narratives, but the inconsistent engagement demands effort. Despite occasional drag, its unique blend of supernatural elements and character dynamics makes it a worthwhile me experience.
