A drama full of drama queens, passion, hate, spicyness and the thing with loyalty to those you love.

The trailer makes us believe that it is superficially all about sex. Even though there are many hot and sometimes explicit scenes, it's about much more than that. It's about friendship and what true friendship means. What highs and lows you experience, how you can solve problems. But it is also about true love and how human desire, which is inherent in each of us, can be a problem and a problem solver at the same time.
The acting is overall very good, only cheaum's performance can't quite keep up with the others, and yet her character is fun to watch. I also like the fact that the series doesn't have the heavy involvement of parents, which is something new in the bls I've seen so far. I especially like the theme music, finally a theme music that you do not want to skip. Even though I didn't quite understand the forshaddowing at the end of ep12, I'm hopeful and excited if there will be a second season. I'm sure they wouldn't have cast a well-known actor for the first guest if it didn't make sense.

If there is a second season, here are a few thoughts on my part:
- Can Boston really change? Will he continue to live his life as before? Will his dream of having his own art exhibition come true and will his ex-friends or Nick visit it? and what will become of Nick, will he maybe get together with his boss? I thought they were very cute.
- The storyline of top and mew seems to be told at first sight, but the newcomer aka first guest looks like a troublemaker. Will there be tension between mew and top? What will their life together look like? I think Tharntype has shown us that even an everyday life on the screen can be exciting.
- Sand and Ray. I would love to see the two of them travel around the world and sand play concerts. But it will probably be too expensive to produce. Will ray make it through his rehab? I really hope so and hopefully he will find something to do in life. It's a shame to see him so completely without a plan.

Hmmm. If you are unsure about watching this drama, don't look at the MDL review, look at Viki, it got a rating of 9.1. in MDL only 7.9. can they judge ?

In my opinion, Song Yiren's dramas are all good, she always has good chemistry with her co-stars, but in MDL she doesn't get much appreciation.

Ireine Song emigrated to Canada with her parents when she was 8 years old, but the family decided to move back to China three years later. At the age of 16, Ireine went back for further studies in Canada.
In 2012, she returned to China, enrolled, and graduated from the Beijing Film Academy.

She landed her first major acting role-playing the female lead Sang Sang in Ever Night. Since her rise to fame in Ever Night, Song has been given the title "The nation's little sister".

Really good and enjoyable !!

I really love this, it's on hold right now cause I can never complete a show at once for some reason I don't know why. I've watched till episode 14 and EVERY SINGLE EPISODE WAS SO DAMN GOOD. Now of course there were some boring moments, but every single movie and series on planet Earth does as well, so it's nothing new. But my goodness, the relationships between the main characters were cute and sweet and so AHHHHHH, their dynamic is frr the sweetest.

Edit: I finally completed it and my opinion is still the same, still one of my favorites. Just started watching the second episode of season 2 so I hope it won't dissapoint.

PS: I don't pay attention to OSTs and music unless I really REALLY like them, so don't trust my rating on that too much.

The most intrigued and traumatizing BL I've ever whatched by far

I have a lot to say about this series. First of all, I've been really impressed about the emotions It conveys. A BL series has never left me awake at night to cry about all its breakouts. The Story made me feel anger, sadness, jealosy, happyness, passion and love of the characters.
I liked the Story for the fact that It was intriguing, but It was to problematic and full of betrayals, and I didn't like that.

I wanna talk about the characters.
First of all, the one I've liked the most from the beginning of the Story... NICK. I mean, why does so few people like him. He Is perfect, he is cute, romantic, he Always gives another chance to Boston even if he breaks his heart and makes him cry, Just because Nick Is too in love with him. He Is also a nerd and he Is cleaver, so, he Is a unique character I've never seen in BL and I dont think i'll see a character similari to him in the future. HE NEEDS A HAPPY ENDING.

Then there's Sand, who I think Is the most loved characters by all the fans. He also does everything for the person he loves, Ray, and Always forgives him, never getting angry. He even renounces to his Jobs for him. He refuses to keep working as a Singer so that Ray avoids alcool and, of course, he refuses to produce wine(?) for him.
I think Ray needed to talk to his father at the end.
Oh and take a Moment to appreckate him Just for his musical tastes (Arctic Monkeys!)

I don't have much to Say about Ray, I'm Just Sorry for his mental problems, and his alchool addiction, and his one-sided-love for Sand, but he has been very lucky to meet Sand who saved his Life a lot of times.

Then there's Mew. At the First episode i thought I would have liked this characters, for his being romantic and sensitive, but I changed my mind. I think he Is exaggerates when he takes revenge and I HATE when he tries to change himself.
Also... WHY IS EVERYBODY OBSESSED WITH HIM IN THE STORY? (Ray, Top, Boeing and the due at the end)

What to Say about Top and Ton? I didn't like them but they could have been treated better during the story. I'm Happy that Top had a Happy endings (even thought I disliked him for his rude way to approach to Nick and Ray), and I'm disappointed sbout Boston ending with Nick.

Then there are Chuen and April, two comfort characters Who didn't bring problems to the story. GO LESBIANS

At the end we have the worst character of the entire Story: Boeing. Ok, differently from Top, I'm glade he didn't have a Happy ending. He literaly didn't deserve It.

That's all. I can't believed Book and Force are coming to have a fanmeeting in Rome, at 1 hour from my house but i think I won't go cause tickets are too expensive.

This could have been a great drama, but the author has written a script that has major lead dramas!

I have just watched the last episode of the drama and I can't get over it... the ending was tragic for the main leads... the author of the script had no mercy for them... and this is the main complaint and my low assessment of the plot, which was already saturated from the middle only drama, shocks, misunderstandings between the leads... there was blood spilling, everywhere around were people hungry for power, full of intrigues... it was definitely too much...
The beginning promised that it would be a nice romance, but from episode to episode the plot became darker and harder to bear. I don't know, maybe there are fans of such an accumulation of aggression, hatred, jealousy, deceit... but I am not one of them... I would like there to be some balance and for bad deeds to be justice and compensation... but unfortunately this did not happen in the majority cases of this movie...
What I liked.
FL and ML, i.e. Wang So and Hae Soo, played their roles very well for me, to the extent that the character of Hae SO at one point became obsessed with dreams (by the way, I don't know why she had such dreams from the past, if she hadn't experienced it before this life in those times, she just moved there, so how could she know certain situations? I don't know and it wasn't explained) in fact, she contributed to many bad situations... and she was completely unaware of it... she interfered and wanted to save and reconcile all the brothers, which of course was not possible considering that several of them dreamed of becoming emperor, so they pursued it by all means. Hae Soo allowed herself to be unnecessarily drawn into these intrigues. Her attitude pissed me off when she already knew that Wook had betrayed the emperor, she still had a million excuses... she didn't see and didn't want to see the truth... And besides, she fell in love with him when he still had a wife, by the way, she was her younger sister... great arrangement... These obsessive dreams were the reason for her hostile attitude towards Wang So for a long, long time, and it was only towards the end that one could notice that she was starting to feel something more towards him than just gratitude that ML had saved her many times... I regret that the author of the script did not develop the topic of true love between FL and ML so poorly... there were very few truly committed scenes when they really realized their love for each other, because the plot deviated in the meantime to side plots and supporting roles, which took a lot of time... In the last episodes, I was fed up with this heroine FL and her selfish behavior towards ML... Wang So did everything for her when he became emperor, he wanted her not to feel bad in this palace, despite the fact that everyone around they did everything to divide them and in the end it happened, to such an extent that the author of the script didn't even let them say goodbye in the last moment of Soo's life... a completely hopeless moment... ultimately left them both disappointed and lonely... they fought against adversities and in the end they were not given a chance to explain and forgive each other directly face to face... why, the author of the text, did you have to end things so hopelessly between them? I have huge grudges and that's why my rating for re-watching this drama is so low... I can't see it and experience it again!
The supporting characters did well - some were funny, others were power-hungry, others were irritating... unfortunately, the antagonists practically did not suffer any specific punishment... especially the witch Princess Hwang Bo - a terrible character... she was hungry for power and splendor from the very beginning. , full of envy, jealousy and striving hard to achieve her goal... and in fact she didn't suffer any punishment, on the contrary she got what she wanted... basically everything... so my question is, what's the point of being good and honest if you the good ones ultimately lose their lives, such as 10 Prince Eun and his wife... (victims of power-hungry brothers)... makes no sense...
I won't describe the rest because it would take several pages.
Overall, this drama could be really good, but the author of the script went too far, as they say in our country, "he went astray"... well, as I see, this is the problem of many script writers and few scripts are well written in terms of the beginning, development of characters and plots, and in balanced between good and evil... many questions remain because the plot often wandered and did not provide answers...
Why did So finally give hope that he would find her one day? And no sequel has been made, even though 7 years have passed since the premiere... no sequel... why give viewers hope? another poorly thought-out finale... well, to sum up, I regret that with a few wrong moves you can turn something good into something that arouses frustration and regret of wasted potential... and even the best acting of the actors will not help here....
OST
when it comes to music, I was particularly touched by 2 songs: beautifully sung with a beautiful heart-catching melody (Will Be Back) and beautiful (MY LOVE)...
I also liked Lee Hi's song 'Can You Hear My Heart'

It's alright

I didn't watch the whole thing cause I got bored, and also I have a big issue with watching ongoing dramas, I began watching it when it was ongoing so I had to wait for every episode to come out, and when that happens I drop the show so fast cause if I don't binge watch the whole thing in less than two weeks I will get bored (unless I'm really REALLY invested I guess). But that's my problem, so I'm not sure if I just got bored from waiting for episodes to drop or if the drama was really that boring. Okay maybe it wasn't boring, I really enjoyed the first few episodes (1-6), they had really good chemistry and I was laughing the whole time, but to me personally it felt like they were losing the tension and chemistry so that definitely didn't help my case. At all. I don't really know what to say other than that. So for now I am dropping it (I dropped it a long time ago but anywayd), but maybe I'll continue watching it soon.

Man to just put it simply, it's a big huge Meh from me. Had some potential, but lost it after 6-7 episodes. Idk, it just wasn't doing it for me.

PS: I don't pay attention to the music and OSTs and whatever, so I won't remember them unless I really REALLY liked them. So my rating on music isn't that valid tbh.

Your typical rich CEO falls in love with the middle class/lower middle class girl

It's literally not anything new but it's still so good. Every single scene is so painfully similar to every other cliche K-drama out there but it still is very good (I think all K-drama fans are immune to this kind of stuff atp). Btw, I don't really focus on OSTs and such so don't trust my rating on that, I don't remember a single song from this drama or other ones I watched unless I REALLY like it. Not gonna lie it did make me roll my eyes sometimes, but then again I've done that to almost everything. I did get bored sometimes, but as I said it's probably cause we've seen it all before. But it definitely was funny, sometimes I would end up laughing and repeating a scene for five minutes

I watched this back in 2020 and rewatched it one more time about a year ago but am now writing a review, so my memory from the drama itself is a bit rusty, but I do remember enjoying it a lot. The chemistry between eh leads was great, and as always Hyesun's acting never disappoints, whenever she got emotional I got emotional with her. I remember it also being funny, so that's always great (Idk why I suddenly got awkward writing this but anyway). But yeah, would definitely recommend it. (Btw I don't really pay attention to OSTs/music and such so don't trust my rating on that too much) But other than that I have nothing to say really, it was very enjoyable and loved it so much. Wanna rewatch it again T_T .

One of the TOP dramas

I love it, i love it, i loove it! --- This reaction i send to my best friend when i finished this drama.

Great actors, amazing story what i did not see before.

Drama is super funny, cute, scary and everything what i needed.

And also pretty hot (actors and some scenes).

I did not know what will happend next, (only like 2 times and in normal k- dramas you know half story from beggining)

Only like 2 things did not make sence for me, but that was the scene that we all hate, when you shout : do not do this or do not go there :D so nothing bad.

I finished it in 1,5 day, becouse i could not take my eyes from that.

The Show that is a realistic slice of life if you equate realism with misery

First off I had no issues with the ending as id already been hugely disappointed well before that. The open ended nature was an achievement given what came before. This IS NOT a realistic slice of life these are not average or ordinary lives. Also not having a happy ending or a show being full of misery does not automatically make a show more realistic than a happy ending rom com.
This story if you want to call it that is not anything. Two peoples lives intersect and one persons actions the FLs have huge impact on the Mls not so much the othwr way. We see so much more of ML life that we could onclude this story is about a man whose life is dominated mostly negatively by his relationship with an incredibly toxic flawed and selfish woman. This may seem unfair as he is a frustrating chatacter at times but the worst of him is usually reacting to his relationship with her and he always wants to maintain it whereas the worst of her is always about her thinking only of herself.
The interactions with her and the Doctor are what realky majez it impossible to see any hope for this story or relationship. She is with ML fully committed but from the time this guy appears she indulges him until she is in fact cheating even if its not physical though she finalky rejects him just!! As bad as that reflects on her whats worse is we are told explicitly that the break up is not because of him but following and judging length of the time skip she marries him and has his kid almost immediately after breaking up. The fact that no time is given to explain this or explore this in the drama is unfirgivabke abd makes everything else meaningless. Once she has the child thats it game over. BIG SPOILER AHEAD

The fact that the writer resorts to the childs death as the device to return her to Korea and reunite is distasteful to say the least. Anythig that happens after this is just not fate or meant to be its just tragic.

True to form the FL meets ML and of course does enough to sgaje him up i to breakimg up with his fiancee but doesnt want anything else.

If a woman like this is supposed to be offered as slice of life realistic its a big disservice to women.

He is just a man who cant get over his first love keeps meeting her and getting himself ruined tbat is the only consistent part more toxic and abusive than realistic IMO.
Aside from this there is not one really likeable secondarycharacter or story in the whole thing. Its uncanny. The FL brother is a selfish Ahole similar to FL. The FL friend is portrayed as pathetic and at a crucial point without any reason we can see compketely slates ML to FL.

Even the blurb above here is compmetely misleading. It is gratitous angst and cruelty with no resolutuon or meaning dont wate your time im sorry.

THE MOST ADORABLE THING EVER I WANNA CRY.

THE MOST ADORABLE THING EVER I WANNA CRY. Everyone in this show had great acting skills (which is kinda uncommon in C-drama if you ask me), and the chemistry between all the characters was MWAHHHH their friendship is to die for😭😭 .

This might seem like I'm being overdramatic or something but like really I've never been this invested in a C-drama before it quite literally hurt to finish, there's like a big gap in my heart in the form of this series, this was the missing puzzle from my life I love it so much.

NEVER SKIPPED A SCENE ( I lied I did skip once 😔)

I WAS SMILING THE WHOLE ENTIRE DAMN TIME.

10/10 would a 1000% reccomend.

It's gonna take me a while to move on from this and watch other series with the same actors in it cause I just cannot accept the fact that they're not besties and in love in real life I wanna throw up.

Okay bye. (PS: I rated music an 8 cause I don't pay attention to OSTs... oops, so take that one with a grain of salt)

Interesting premise

I do like this drama, it is a very interesting twist on two very popular and tragic love stories. It takes Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and blends it with the Chinese story of the Butterfly Lovers, put it in a strange setting that is a mix of Hong Kong with a Wild Wild West cowboy feel. You can feel the lawlessness of everything and how people can get shot and killed yet nobody bats an eye.

I am still watching this so will update when it is all done, but so far the mixing up is done pretty well. Will it end with tragedy like the original two stories? Who knows?

Update: I have just completed the series and I can say for sure that the series is good. It is not great, but it is worthy of being a 7/10 easily.

The fusing of two tragic romantic stories somehow managed to work here. Moses Chan as Leung Shan Pak and Aimee Chan as Zuk Ying Toi togetheras a couple was very touching, and I found their romance believable and convincing. Sadly, the other love story with Kalok Chow as Romeo and Kayan Yau as Juliet didn’t work with me. I understand this is following the original Romeo and Juliet’s love at first sight story beat, but my issue is with Kayan Yau as she lacks any onscreen charisma. There was no observable chemistry between her and Kalok so I was never convinced they were in love and wanted to really be together. I actually preferred watching Yuki Law over Kayan, and when that happens you know the casting went wrong somewhere. Please stop pushing Kayan as a female lead until she’s improved further, she’s not ready yet. She wasn’t ready in that TCM drama, and she isn’t ready here.

A wasted opportunity in the drama was when Aimee Chan took on Kalok as a disciple to teach him how to use a gun. They put this all into one episode and suddenly Kalok is pretty good at shooting. They should have done this earlier in the drama so that we would have gotten to see them build a rapport as teacher and student, making the final scenes have more impact. I won’t spoil it, but the final scenes with them both in there would have had a bigger emotional hit if we had witnessed this bond over the series.

One major gripe I had with the drama was the constant gun spinning and twirling the characters do as they drew guns to fight or train. It is so ridiculous sometimes as they would spin it halfway into a life or death gunfight, wasting 2-3 seconds spinning it before opening fire. It feels forced and in real life would have gotten the person killed.

The best part of the series? Weirdly enough, Joman Chiang as Zuk Ying Wah, Aimee’s cousin. She is the boss lady of a salon in the lawless 8th district and her gunslinging abilities are the best in the series, like nobody even comes close. Her story is also really tragic so when she goes on a revenge mission you can emphasise with her. Her skills are so badass that she did the Taken film bullet curling while dual-wielding to defeat both Aimee and Moses at the same time. Undoubtedly the coolest character in the drama, so her absence at the end of the drama was a huge hit for me. I was secretly rooting for Moses to get with her instead of Aimee… that’s how much I liked her. TVB, do a sequel with Joman and give her a happy ending!!! Do it!!! Easy win!!

Enjoyable and funny but far from a masterpiece !

There are a lot of good stuff like the acting, the messiness or people theories so I enjoyed myself.
But we need to talk about the sl*t shaming in this story. You cannot sell your story as really sexy, explicit and progressive and then have all characters who don't want to be in a relationship and just want to enjoy s*x be the bad guy in your story, they're just bad to be bad, no background, no reasons for their actions. They are just sl*t because life I guess (Boston best example). For me, it's really problematic.
That's being said, almost all characters don't really make sense too, they act to make the plot move forward :
- Mew calling Boston before having s*x with Top when they don't seem to be that close
- Nick putting the listening device in Boston car before the party for no reason
- Ray having a breakdown in front of everyone after telling the truth to Mew
- Mew hitting Ray in the face after the breakdown even if he does the truth
- Daddy Dan character just came and disappeared
- Boieng character same
- the token lesbien duo
- the r*pe accusation plot....
And it's just what came out of the top of my head.
Now, the relationships and characters !
- Mew and Top were really boring for me sorry, I don't like the virgin who's gonna change the bad boy from his bad habits because he's just soooo perfect. Not my cup of tea I guess. And I didn't like their characters as individuals too. I just remembered that Top used to take dr*gs and stopped thanks to the power of love ! With no consequenses
- Ray and Sand were cute but Ray did a lot of f*cked up things. Not respecting Sand boundaries and all of it being played as if it was funny just doesn't sit right for me. (The scene were Ray interupted Nick and Sand vacations after Sand told him not to come...) Or Ray calling Sand a bunch of names when he's mad and never really apologised for it either. Like there is nothing cute about this relationship if you think about it. They could have shown us the impact of that kind of codependancy but no. I'm happy they take Ray alcoholism kinda seriously even if he's pretty clean, his friends drink next to him as if he was not an addict, no discomfort... It could have been really interesting to also see the burning for Sand, being the only reason for someone sobriety is not easy.
- Nick and Boston were cute, I really liked them at first but they didn't get enough screentime in my opinion. It could have been really interesting to see their characters and the reason behind their actions. But I think the writer's opinions really shaped their story, especially for Boston.
And I'll finish by saying that if you don't know how to write about serious topics like addiction, abusive relationship, r*pe accusations, you SHOULDN'T !
But yes, It was an entertaining show ! So watch it if you want to have fun ;)

(sorry for the mistakes

My Roman Empire

For a series I binged watched, it is amazing. My first lakorn was Love in the Air and I thought nothing could top it, but now, I think this series may have changed my mind. The scenes when Nuengdiao and Palm are together alone made me feel like I was walking into something. Their scenes and emotions felt so real to the point it was uncomfortable. The way they looked at eachother were saying whole speeches without speaking a word. They went through so much together and I love the way they would do anything to protect each other. One thing I didn’t like about this series is the soundtrack and the way they kept running away from eachother, but all in all this series is amazing. Eventhough it is up to preference, this series is definitely worth every second.

I've waited patiently for this to dropp. And I'm not disappointed at all. I loved all the actors in it. They played their part really well. Of course I've mainly watched it for the three main characters...

In my eyes it's nor a bromance so if you where hoping for that I'm sorry. All three of them are pretty close to each other.

It's more a detective kinda drama with slot of nice moves. The ending really killed me tho. I was holding my heart the whole episode :).

They didn't really stretched the series, where u would say 40 episodes is to much or too little.

I myself have problems finishing series because I know how most of them will end, after watching just 5 episodes. But I had to finish this one to keep my mind settled. Not because I could see through ot but because I got attached to the characters.

I highly recommend others to watch the series. Its also a good start for people that are new to historical cdrama's.

Also to be more familiarise with actors like Joseph Zeng.
