Very interesting story with really nice plots

Great storyline! Very intruguing and really interesting to watch. I loved how the storyline went really smoothly. Although the ending felt quite abrupt and some of the spidoes felt a little too short but overall really good drama. It has interesting law cases and was an entertaining watch. I loved the acting of the cast tho! The cast smashed it! The whole thing just felt realistic. The music was great too! very soothing and fit perfectly into each scene. I wouldn't rewatch this drama but it was a really good one. Very mysteriously interesting characters with unexpected.. links -I must say. Truly truly worth every minute. It was interesting but a little.. boring ig at the same time. I felt like there could have been more details in the episodes but, that's just my opinion and this drama turned out really great and I would love to see a season 2. Overall, Great drama with interesting plots and very intriguing chracters and perfect music. ?‍?️??️??‍?????‍⚖️????‍♂️

Worth rewatching

I am biased because I have completely fallen for Eiji Akaso. He is too adorable and acts so well in this drama. I like the fact that unlike other BL that can sometimes be too physical (not that I’m complaining), this plot is more about the inner thoughts and the journey to self awakening. Some will say it is for those still in the closet, or for highly introverted. For me this is very engaging because it was like taking a walk down memory lane to my 1st relationship. I like the scripting of the show very much. Very refreshing indeed.

Watching this was hard

I usually like simple rom-com where there is no major mystery, but this has been just more ridiculous than I was expecting it to be. I tried to see it 3 times and it is not engaging at all. Jun ho is great to look at and I mostly like the dramas he stars in, but his looks couldn't make this show watchable. I usually try to see the last episode just to see how things ended up and in this case - there was no curiosity, at all. The only angle that could hold my interest was FL and her friends.
I was looking forward to watching this as I had high hopes.

Deserves the hype

This is going to be a quick and short review because I just need to get my love of this show off my chest.

This show is a literal masterpiece. I literally sobbed for 40 days and 40 nights over this show. Lee Jehoon is an incredible actor and literally never disappoints. Tang Junsang also done an amazing job. 'Move to heaven' which is a company that specialises in crime scene clean up takes time and effort to really appreciate the life that a person once lived through packing up their sentimental items and then delivering it to the family. Each episode is based on a person who has passed away and every episode was just as sad and beautiful as the next. The relationship between the uncle and Geuroo had one of my favourite developments in a kdrama. Both characters were total opposites and I loved watching both of them slowly adapt, respect and love one another. The characters were well written and acted. Lee Jaewook probably had one of my favourite guest roles in a drama. I honestly couldn't love everything about this show more.

This drama has excellent acting, beautiful story telling, drama, action, death and many more themes. I would definitely recommend this drama if this is something that you are genuinely interested and now just giving it a go because you see a high rating.

=> A good drama that introduced me to Yamada Ryosuke, but just for entertainment

PLOT:
A Fake Marriage Contract is signed between 1 CEO, the ML, who wants to boost his sales by making a vlog of his married life, and the FL, wedding planner in the company. FL comes from a large, warm and poor family.
The mother-in-law will do everything to ruin this marriage.

PROS:
+ The characters are endearing, both family and colleagues.
+ The CL is convincing.
+ The main theme is attachment to family.
+ It's a JDrama, so there is no length (10 episodes and everything is said :)
+ The Shiba Inu is adorable.

CONS:
- the character of the mother-in-law is excessive, almost psychotic, but everyone forgives her (because she is family ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
- the OSTs are too Japanese-kawaii for me.

=> A good drama that introduced me to Yamada Ryosuke, but just entertainment. So I won't watch it again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLOT:

I ship love stories but if story was good i don't mind

Story commences ver well , characters with their specialities are introduced very well. The part which i don't like about drama was it had no love story but if story is good i don't mind but for me even the story was boring.
Based on title Tiger and cane full drama has run and accordingly it end .
In the starting one - one character joined for the search of truth and as reaching towards the end one - one character died .the tiger and the crane remained
I don't wanna be spoiler but watch it at your own risk

worth it.

i was skeptical,, bc of some reviews but i still wanted to give it a try.. i didnt really check the summary and just jumped right in. i still enjoyed it alot! at first it was like an eh its ok but as characters joined in and the story progresssed i was super into it!

the actor who played dong sik did a rlly good job bc omg i loved his character sm and the way he executed it!!! dong sik is funny, clumsy, a bit dumb but he's a really good liar and actor. bluffing is literally his specialty! i cant get enough of him. dong sik's and bo kyung's dynamic was amazing and entertaining to watch! literally got me on my toes waiting for what's going to happen next! all the actors did a really good job!

the plot was good and it didnt feel very dragged out imo,, just a guy thinking he's a psychopathic murderer.
the drama had more comedy (?) than i thought it would but im not complaining bc i loved it!! i was giggling all night to myself as i watched it,,, maybe my neighbours think that im a psycopath now

anyway i would totally reccomend giving this a shot!!<3

Disappointing

Most of the cast were underperforming on their roles. Aside from the main female lead, there wasn't much appeal going for the drama. Which made the drama utterly boring with its insane 24 episodes nascence runtime, it felt painfully infinite. The drama had a poor pacing with every section/period. The first 10 episodes all served as an intro and could've been condensed down to couple of episodes at best. Some gisaeng "training montages" were laughable and straight up ripped from anime-esque training arcs followed by an instant skill power up, despite having all the time in the world to flesh out the gisaeng journey from an artistic point of view. A drama about gisaengs that doesn't put the effort and needed attention into the gisaengs. To top it all off, they couldn't even deliver with the ending, I hated the last episode, everything felt force for the sake of progressing the drama. By the way, Jang Geun Suk shouldn't be listed with the main cast since he's only there for a few episodes.

One of the finest Psychological dramas

I have no idea why the reviews are so bad but, Through the darkness is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever seen. The show is about criminal profiling first being introduced into South Korea to help discover 'what makes a serial killer?', 'what attributes does a person have that makes them commit a crime?' and to be able to link crimes thus making catching a killer a lot easier.

The drama centres around Hayoung and Youngsoo who decide to take up the difficult task of creating their own behavioural analysis unit to aid investigators catching serial killers. Of course in the beginning of the show there is plenty of ignorant characters who do not take them seriously but as the show progresses we see how helpful criminal profiling has become and the difference it has made to the justice system. Hayoung is a passionate character who will literally do anything in his power to show how reliable criminal profiling is and to prevent serial killings. The shows has different storylines with a new serial killer for each story set over a time period. Each story is completely different and shows the growth of criminal profiling as well as how detrimental to your health working in this field can be. Through the darkness is different to other kdramas in the same genre as it is realistic and based off of real events and research from a South Korean criminal profiler. Therefore it isn't overly dramatic or has any unrealistic plots.

The acting? Perfect!

If you enjoyed the American drama 'Criminal minds', then this drama is 100% for you. This is a realistic portrayal of serial killers so please keep that in mind.

(bare in mind some scenes can be upsetting and overwhelming)

the mild and kind of beautiful romance in it is to be appreciated

the overall drama was good and the wait for every episode was eager the last few episodes were kind of chaotic but the male lead made the whole drama moving with his fine features , but the drama was quite unclear regarding it's historical depiction and beliefs on spells but maybe that's how a dra is supposed to be at the end the supporting characters were left with untold stories and much more were left unfinished all together the drama was worth watching I watched it for rowoon oppa and that was worth it ✨

Like:
+ Some scenes are really funny

+ Yanase is such a kind and caring character. His face expressions are top tier and especially in episode 7 I had a lot of fun watching him. Kudos for this inner monologue. It was hilarious.

+ The creditscene was really wholesome. Pay attention! I don't want to spoiler anything, but I was really kinda impressed by it when I realized the little details.

+ At first I was a little annoyed that they include a pair of fujoshis, because I thought it will go in a terrible direction, but actually it was really well done and we get a little important information out of their conversation!

Dislike:
- The beginning (mostly like everything till episode 7 lol) was really hard to watch for me. Some scenes were so awkward and uncomfortable.

- The whole show felt so slow-paced because so little is happening. The flashbacks were way too much, which made it unnecessary repetitive and boring.

- The whole story is..like..just boring. What's the red string here? That Yuki likes him? But doesn't do anything? Geez..

- felt no chemistry at all.. Yanase is carrying the whole show for me, because I like him, but I can't bring myself to like Yuki, although there were a few scenes I didn't cringe that hard about him.

- Imho Yuki is a character who really frustrates me. I don't like overinsecure characters at all. His crush on Yanase was just so awkward for me. Like wtf does he call him god.. x.x

- the ending was so unnecessary dragged. Like.. I already felt like there is no progress at all and than they come up with this. Geez.

I remember a scene with shaky camera and weird angle, but overall I liked the production.

I was often so annoyed, frustrated and awkward with the plot or the characters. For real, Yanase saved it in the last 2 episodes. :'D

I wouldn't recommend the show, but I also wouldn't say "Don't watch it!". It wasn't terrible. If it would be horrible, I would have just dropped it. But there was definitely something that kept me watching. But I also feel like the show gave me nothing but a headache. I think I wouldn't miss something, if I didn't even started the show. ^^'

Unlike other histrocal dramas

When you think of a Korean historical drama 9 times out of 10 you think serious, heart breaking, and LONG. However this Saeguk was different.

You have a King who has lost his wife and set a marriage ban until he remarries and So rang a girl who has lost her way, working as a swindler and now has somehow ended up in the Kings palace pretending that she has been possessed by the late Queen and yet this was was HILARIOUS. The comedy in this historical drama was literally a breath of fresh air. I started this drama while I was in a slump and omg it brought me right back to life. Of course, their is treason, scheming, murder all of the tropes that a Saeguk has but somehow it never felt that serious and always managed to make me laugh, Now, there is a love triangle and although I used to LOVE a love triangle Korea has manged to make me hate them! In the beginning, I actually was enjoying it surprisingly and then after 4 episodes began to quickly hate it as it turned into an overly persistent sml who can't take no for an answer. I have seen some people complain and say that the show lost its fun in the last third of the drama however I have to disagree. The show was more funny and light hearted in the earlier stages of the show, but there is still major plots that need to be resolved and can't help but be a little more serious as the show comes to an end, but the quality was always the same. Anyway, I still thought the show was funny and unserious throughout and was quite obviously not historically accurate.

THE MAIN COUPLE!! One thing that I will always love in historical dramas is the TENSION and omg was it great. The drama was the opposite of a slow burn and they came to like each other very quickly although the king took a little while to recognised his feelings. Their chemistry was so GOOD. I kept rewinding scenes while internally screaming because the tension and chemistry was hitting DIFFERENT.

The acting was up to scratch Park Juhyun is always a plessure to watch and was so good in the comedy genre and slayed her emotional scenes of course. Kim Youngdae, is literally so FUNNY, he has amazing comedic timing. I hope to see him in more romcoms soon. The supporting case were also great, some actors were doing their job a little too well because at times I wanted to punch the screen.

The music was enjoyable so no complaints.

The forbidden marriage is the sort of drama you rewatch because you know you'll keep enjoying it over and over again.

I don't actually have any complaints other than the the love triangle but it didn't take away from the show.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and would recommend this romcom to any one who wants to watch a Saeguk that isn't gut wrenching but will instead a have you smiling and blushing.
Quick sidenote I have seem this drama being compared to the Cinderella trope but I would disagree it's not really rags to riches after you learn about her character.

How do you even make 10 minute episodes slow burn?

I probably have a good headline in one of the reviews, so I will look for it as I look for the reviews. Which is going to take me forever because it has been forever. It gets an 8.3 out of 10 from me. I am a dumbass, and I just realized that you can go to the episode tab and find your reviews and not scroll through all of them and get sidetracked.

I started this on June 22, 2023, and finished it today, October 17, 2023. Its been a while, so I am going through the reviews. I am going to be honest; I wasn't emotionally invested enough until the end, so I don't know anyone's names, and its very embarrassing. I was confused to start it off. Kang Gook and Han Tae Joo had the spoiled brat and just "puts up with" dynamic, and I could get behind that, so it was a pretty good start, and we had the whole thing with the ears, which they didn't really touch on past the first few episodes because I forgot about it.

I watched the next episode on August 3rd. Damn, I spaced this one out. I was surprised that Tae Joo didn't break his back with Kang Gook through him on the ground like a rag doll, bro. I was confused about why I hadn't finished it. It was so short, but I couldn't get into it, and that's what took me forever to finish it. They were making the 10-minute episodes slow-burn. It was crazy.

Once again, I was complaining about the 10 minute episodes feeling very long and hard to get through, and I couldn't even remember what happened in them because they were so short and I watched them so spread out, so I was struggling because it also wasn't really that interesting. They weren't doing a whole bunch, and it was just one-sided love on Kang Gook's part. It was getting annoying.

I was complaining about the long 10-minute epilogues again. It was getting to my head, bro. They tried to have a plot, but it had so many holes in it that it was hard to have one, and they just end up sitting there and nothing gets done. They only get stuff done in the last 2 minutes of the 10 minute episodes, which makes it unbearable to watch. They should have filled the earlier episode with the same amount of plot as the last few, and I would have finished it sooner than I did.

And today I set out to finally finish this very long show. Episode 5 was the first good one since the first episode. The dodgeball game was very cute, and it symbolized how their relationship is going throughout the show up until this point. Tae Joo being jealous was very funny, just because of the way he acts and how his personality is. I just think its funny. And seeing the character act out of character with smiling and laughing was actually very cute and made me gush. Kang Gook kept getting his feelings played by Tae Joo throughout the whole thing, and he only keeps putting up with his shit and coming back to him because its his job.

The acting got better towards the end, and so did the plot. Tae Joo was going to get kidnapped and sent away, and then they would relinquish their true feelings for each other. Too predicale. Kang Gook is a dumbass, bro. I understand where he is coming from, but he finally likes you back and realizes your true personality, and you shattered his heart into a million pieces. The confession scene was good; it gave me chills.

The fight scene was one of the best I have seen in a while; it was pretty realistic, and good for them for making it like that. Bro was fighting for his love like his life depended on it, technically, because Tae Joo is his life. They can endure so much more than they know, and this episode showed that.

They really got their happy ending robbed from them. Too many shows are doing that now, bro. Someone gets sent off to usually England, and they have a shitty reconnection, and the show just freaking ends, bro. It gets on my nerves. This show definitely turned around for the better. I am going to have a hard time finding all of the episodes because it has been so long, but they changed this for the better, and I am glad they did, because I was not going to get through it if they didn't. Good for them despite their happy ending of getting robbed. I would recommend it because the last few epiodes were actually pretty good. That's it. okay bye!

Still smiling thinking about this show 10 months later

I watched this underrated drama 10 months ago in 3 days and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about it. Taeyang and Taejun have to be one of my top 3 kdrama couples.

Lets start off with the story. So the show mainly focuses on Taejun, Taeyang, badminton and their relationship with each other as well as the sport. Personally I am not a fan of sports dramas, however I loved this one. I think the show has a very good ratio of badminton to drama. One thing that did take me by surprise is the fact that this show is honestly a light hearted melodrama. Taejun and Taeyang both have a lot of childhood trauma, family issues and psychological issues that they both need to overcome in order to make their relationship work and to fulfil their dreams as badminton players. Although, in the later quarter of the drama the show can be more emotional and serious (the story does need to progress so no complaints from me) there is also plenty of comedy relief. From the team, to the many coaches, love all play had me smiling and giggling. The show also does have multiple couples which was enjoyable but didn't shy away from the main couple. The Yunis team also does live in dorms so there is a sense of that University life within the show.

NOW ONTO THE GOOD BIT. Never in my life have I watched a kdrama and loved a couple this much. Their chemistry was absolutely perfect and found myself having butterflies and smiling anytime Chae Jong Hyeop smiled. Seriously my jaw hurt from smiling so much, kicking my feet in joy, putting my phone down whenever the scene was too sweet. No character has boyfriend the way Taejun has boyfriend in a show. From the minute he saw her it was like love at first sight and pursued her so persistently and cutely, I too was falling for him. He was so obsessed with her ( as he should be) and smitten and I have genuinely never enjoyed watching a man pursue a woman in a romance drama so much in my life. I have genuinely rewatched this show so many times because I have yet to find a couple that I like more than them two.

Park Juhyun is one of my favourite Korean actresses and have literally watched every single one of her kdramas. She embodies versatility and it was a delight seeing her play yet another different character so well. I will always look forward to any kdrama she has coming up. In addition, this was the first kdrama that I've watched from Chae Jonghyeop and his acting was great. I have never seen an actor fit the 'golden retriever/ sunshine' trope so well. Of course the supporting cast were amazing as well!

The music was also great very catchy and uplifting.

Now, if I had any complaints it would be about Taeyang and the situation that caused her to leave badminton in the past. Although I understand why characters were angry, Taeyang did NOT deserve to be treated the way she was. I don't want to say too much because I do not want to include any spoilers but that situation was frustrating in the sense that it really wasn't solely her fault and people should take responsibility for themselves instead of pinning the blame.

I would definitely recommend this drama to any one who is a big fan of romance and doesn't mind sports dramas. Like I said it is not a full on melodrama however you can fill the essence of a melodrama. I have genuinely rewatched this drama every month and watch edits everyday of the Park twin couple!!

I enjoyed this drama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This drama skillfully navigated the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship, portraying the evolution from the challenges of teenage pregnancy to the shared experiences of navigating adulthood. The dynamic of Jin Hee still living with her mother adds a realistic touch, and the constant bickering provides a relatable and human aspect to their relationship.

The introduction of Dr. Park Jin Hong and the workplace dynamics with Eun Jae Won added a mix of personal and professional challenges for the characters. This blend of storylines adds layers to the overall plot and enhances the viewing experience.

The successful balancing of various genres, including mystery, comedy, romance, and drama, is a commendable aspect. Achieving this balance make this drama appealing.

This drama delivered on its promises and provided a well-executed exploration of family dynamics, personal challenges, and professional relationships.
