Do not try to understand everything. Sometimes....

...it is not meant to be understood. Just accepted.

This is a quote on the wall behind Tod and Nick. I liked it. So I put it here as well.

The stories in this anthology series are all of different quality, and this one is definitely one of the best. It follows or it takes place at the same time as the previous story, Pisces of Me with the same characters. While there Tod was a third lead, here we get to know his story and why he was the way he was in the previous episodes.

I like the synopsis above: it is poetic and completely incomprehensible if you have not seen these two episodes.

Tod was an unruly high schooler so his mother got him a tutor, Nick who managed to set him straight. They click together, they are close and spend a lot of time talking and confiding in each other. Tod likes and admires NIck. If ever there are feelings brewing between them, they are never told or explicitly shown. When his parents need to move away from Bangkok for work, the boys keep in touch, with Tod even planning to go back to finish high school there and live with Nick. But Nick has his own dreams and when they become reality, he is torn as to how to make everything work, how to keep his promise and how to live his dream. When Tod finds out the truth, he realizes he had been selfish and lets Nick go through a small white lie.

The title of the episodes, 1626, refers to their respective ages. This is a story of the first love which doesn't say its name. Nick is being a responsible adult and never crossed the line (there is a parallel story in Pisces of You: a tutor actually crossing the line and aggressing the admiring pupil!). Tod's feeling are never really clear, almost until the end: is he in love with Nick or does he want him for an older brother? Tod only admits to incredulous Kun when he tells him the story of Nick, that they only ever touched twice during the time they knew each other and both times was to apply ointment!

The parents are surprisingly open and warm even though they seem too busy, they notice more than Tod thinks they do which comes as a huge surprise to him. They are not judgemental and accept Tod's decisions within the realm of possible. They do not impose their opinions on Tod but let him make his conclusions as to what to do by giving him the facts.

The story is well written, subtle and emotional, a slow burn kind of story. I loved the space references: Pluto and Black Hole were the names the MCs gave themselves, explaining how they felt about their lives. The whole drama special has a poetic, ethereal feel about it, like a dream parenthesis in the harsh reality.
The characters grow and change and mature as the story progresses. The acting is better than in the previous episodes. The production is good: the cinematography, the sets... The editing is a bit messy: to story goes back and forth, past and present and sometimes is difficult to know when a scene is taking place. But that is just a minor flaw. I probably was not paying enough attention, or at least not as much as I should have since these four episodes(Pisces Of Me & 1626) demand and deserve full attention. The endings are open: the boys are young and they will grow and mature and meet new people and have new loves.

But these moments were those which formed their characters for the better!

This show is so inspiring!!!

THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. Love Monika in anything as always but especially when it has a clear message. I literally used Google translate in picture mode just to follow along when I didn’t really need to. The idols are vocal legends so they have amazing voices and they’re super funny!!! It’s a very inspiring and an interesting concept for a girl group/show that I think should be explored more. I don’t know if anyone will ever sub this but if you ever get a chance to watch it DO!

In terms of story it hits the nail on what it’s like to be an idol in old age having to adapt to new trends and a new lifestyle. What it’s like to be back on stage with people you may not know etc.

The cast was top tier with already established singers, choreographers (Monika Shin/ Prowdmon) and ofc Mr.JYP himself in every episode

. The Music was AMAZING you could tell they have been singers for YEARS. Though the songs felt too outdated at times.

Overall a great watch! :)

BORING

This series is the most boring series I've watched in a while but i have a few things to get off my chest :
1) Day's character is the most selfish spoiled brat character I've seen , he's a a master at gaslighting ( gaslighted Night about him going blind because he drove night home but didn't even look at the road while driving , blames Mohk because he didn't want to go to hawai or wherever the f , broke up with him and blocked him not acknowledging ANY GOOD THING Mohk did for him and even told his mom "should i forgive him after what he did" ? b- what ?! Making it sound like Mohk was beating him everyday, little brat and even when he asked for a second chance he said " i decided to give ME a second chance " not us but it's logical since his character is all about ME ME ME all the time
2) The finale was atrocious , same boring copy paste time skip finale , director did it in 1000 stars where tian left for the US 2 years , did it in Bad buddy where Nannon left for 2 years in Singapore now Mohk leaves 2 years in Thaiti ...... Like can't you be creative ?
3) they made Day regain sight therefore defeating the whole point of this series about being happy and adapting NOOOOPE the message was if you're blind and want a happy ending you'll need to be RICH and have 1 or more TRANSPLANTS oh and to SEE ? what a waste of time this series was ?️ they did the whole cringy "leaving wedding and running to the airport romcom scene" because Day doesn't care about Night anyway his love life is more important than his brother's wedding ( he made his brother leave his wedding and run after the guy he JUST REJECTED ) eeeh god i hope the director never gets another series again ( if he does , expect a 2 year time skip at the finale )

Started good, but progressively became a drag

honestly, this series started so good and had the potential, but what were the last 2 eps? honestly, it felt separated from the rest of the series, as if a block of events happened but they weren't connected to each other, the context was off?! Did we actually need the last bit of him working in the hotel, looking at the sea and coming back to see his cafe still standing? so many questions in my head from just the last 30min of the episode alone. I was always shipping Dream and Night but I believe their past and their relationship could have been told more thoroughly or deeply, it felt shallow. After seeing how Day asked Dream and told him to wait, I had a feeling they would be a good ship as well. Probably one of the few times I support the ghost/alternate ship more. So many questions were left unanswered and felt too rushed even though at the same time last 2 episodes felt like not much context and just dragged to make episodes. Does it make sense? Therefore, I first rated the show a solid 9 but I dropped it to 7.5 right now and it is for the sake of the beginning.

Good idea

I'm a bit unsure about this drama. I watched it having just gone through the 4th trimester myself, and I'm in the older age group as well and was working full time with a really busy schedule while pregnant. So while there are quite a few things in the drama that I could relate with, I also sat there thinking "yeah right" A LOT, and I'm not sure who the drama's target audience is. My first thought when I saw that the babies don't stay with the parents was that I'd be pissed if my baby was separated from me unnecessarily. And then there is the unrealistic appearance of someone who just had a baby - high heels, tight clothes and looking that thin? Yeah right. I appreciated some of the humour though, but overall I just felt like I'm watching a highschool drama given how the characters behaved, and it feels like they're in an antenatal course that happens post-natally. Also, have they not heard of breastpads? Cute baby nicknames though.

Great Era of Politics with Romantic touch of FL life

Well if you are looking for Politics (most prob) than this is the best drama, a must watch. Whereas in romance it is a slow burn (means if you are asking about romance between ML than it properly start from Epi 30).
Before that there are good scenes between SL and FL and Fight and Funny scenes between MC.

In every aspect story was good. I love how both Male Leads weren't clingy to FL whereas ML was more possesive and obsessed with FL but it in a good way (acc to me ??)

A must watch drama.

a sweet drama for in between

I think the drama, because of its six episodes, is perfect for a nice rainy day when you don't know what you want to watch.

The story is simple, but you feel for the characters.

You can certainly still change things in one or two corners, but that's always a matter of perspective.

The story of the main characters is a longer one, in which they lose sight of each other and sometimes think it is right, but sometimes wrong decisions are made.

At the end of the day you have to say that life doesn't always go smoothly and in my opinion this is also reflected in the drama.

The historical background with the music is a change and I really liked the song.

I think Soundtrack #2, but also Soundtrack #1 can be watched again and again if you just need something to switch off.

A drama weaving warmth in every flaw.

Stepping into 'Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai!!' was like getting a cozy hug from your favorite blanket – warm, comforting, and filled with all the feels. It's a world where an otaku daughter and her romance-novelist mom team up for life's crazy adventures, and let me tell you, Miho Kanno and Minami Hamabe make this duo the definition of dynamic.

Right from the get-go, the chemistry between these characters hits you in the feels. It's not just your typical romance; it's a full-on exploration of the wild web that is family bonds. Aoi and Sora's mother-daughter tag team is so real that I felt like I was part of their squad, eavesdropping on the coolest friends ever.

Hold up – can we talk about Mizukami Koshi? The dude's the sweetest on-screen guy I've ever seen. Patience, understanding, and support oozing out of every pore. And Saori? Her thing with Gon's father might sound like a script from a rom-com, but darn it if it didn't feel oddly heartwarming and endearing.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room – the flaws. Yeah, this drama's got 'em, but who cares when you're having this much fun? Flaws, schmaws, the quirky dialogues, honest convos, and the epic journey of Aoi and Sora's growth made it a breath of fresh air.

Flaws aside, 'Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai!!' is a gem. It's not just a show; it's like grabbing a seat on a rollercoaster of emotions that leaves you with that fuzzy, happy feeling. Major kudos to everyone involved – the writers, the actors – for creating a ride that's equal parts fun, heartwarming, and downright charming. This drama's not just a journey; it's a ticket to the heartfelt intricacies of life, love, and the craziest family adventures. Grab your popcorn; it's one heck of a ride!

the starting was great but...

I was really excided for this drama, and the drama was great for the first half. The female lead was actually badass, the story was good . The character development was also great.
But then they killed off 3 characters very suddenly in 1 episode, and in the next episode more died. the ending was super rushed and very unsatisfactory. The scene in the palace with therevealation (that the disabled prince is the villian) had absolutely no context and was very sudden with zero build up
That being said i still think that if the ending was better and they didnt kill more than half the people in the end it would have been a marvelous drama

I Don't Understand All the Hate for this Drama : (

Okay, so I've never written a review for a drama on here because I have my own set-up for this kind of thing, but I feel like I have to for this drama because of the ridiculously low rating it has on here.

I don't typically rely on the rating system on here to determine what I watch because I know that viewers' opinions on a drama can vary and there are some aspects of a drama that I happen to like that others don't. So, I didn't look up this drama prior to watching it - but I happened to look it up to try and find out if the actress for Soyong was someone I recognized (she wasn't, but no biggie), and saw that the rating on this was in the 7's. I was a little taken aback because the other dramas that I've watched have never been rated below an 8; it made me wonder if there was something seriously wrong with the acting, chemistry, pacing, or general cinematography. I then scrolled down to the comments to see what all the hubbub was about and saw people pretty much bashing the fact that 1. there was no kiss in the drama, 2. that the lack of skinship in the show made people want to label this as a bromance and 3. that it overall was boring. While I don't particularly care about kissing and bed scenes in dramas (they're a nice addition, but certainly not necessary) I was a little worried about the bromance comments. I've seen bromance dramas in the past (typically those from China because the censorship laws are a little finicky) and know that, for those, you have to read beyond the lines for the fact that the characters have more than just platonic feelings for one another. So, I was then feeling a little wary about whether this was going to be something I wanted to watch as I was looking for an actual romance drama and it seemed like people didn't particularly like it. Despite those comments, I decided to continue watching since I was still only on the 1st episode and hadn't gotten a feel for it yet. As I watched, I found myself getting sucked into the drama (by this, I mean actively reacting to what was happening on screen) and itching to get to the next episode so that I could see how Daeyol and Taehyun's story would pan out. I kept waiting for the "sucky" parts of the drama to come on, but it never got there. What exactly sucked about it?

I thought the plot of the drama was really interesting - it's not just about two high school boys growing feelings for one another, but about two people with complex insecurities trying to navigate past the preconceived notions they have on how they should be traversing their everyday lives. For Taehyun it was forgiving himself regarding the accident with his mother and getting past his abandonment issues; for Dayeol it was letting himself find something he was actually passionate about and not just doing because he was good at it.

The acting was really, really great - I was surprised that this is the first time either of the leads has been in a drama because they really blew it out of the water. There were a lot of emotional scenes in this drama - whether through anger, grief, or acceptance - and it never felt stale or off. I especially liked that they could actually cry because there's nothing that takes me out of a drama more than when they pull a crying face but no actual tears come out.

The chemistry was so freaking clearly there. I didn't know that these boys were part of a K-pop group together, so I'm sure the bond that they built in their careers helped with the naturalness of their on-screen relationship.

There was very clear and evident pining and romance happening on my screen. Sure, there wasn't a kiss on the lips or holding hands, but you could clearly tell that the two characters were romantically interested in one another. There wasn't a need for all of the more explicitly laid out romance to be shown to you - the stares, small smiles across the room, the light brushes of shoulders whenever they'd sit together, and just the general happiness on their faces whenever they were with each other painted a very clear picture to me that these two were clearly in love with one another (if not, at the very least, clearly infatuated). I'm also seeing some people say that it didn't feel like the two were in a relationship/working towards a relationship because they weren't constantly touching one another. I don't know if it's because I'm one of those people who doesn't equate physical affection with how someone feels about a person, but it just didn't seem like that to me. On top of that, the entire last episode was full of them being close - literally laying in each other's lap, resting their head against one another, touching each other's face, Taehyun hugging Dayeol's waist whenever he was drying his hair and Dayeol literally kissed Taehyun on the ear at the end. It made me feel like people checked out before the end because they didn't get a kiss elsewhere in the drama ;-;

I, unlike most on here it seems, didn't even hate the ending of the show. People are saying that it felt rushed - I'm assuming because of the time skips (not gonna lie, the 2 years on top of 2 years kinda threw me off) but to me it felt like their story didn't need all the extra fluff on how they rekindled their feelings for one another following Dayeol leaving in the middle of high school. I think the main focus of this drama was to show their journey through high school as they developed their feelings - not really what things would have been like as they grew into adults. It was clear that both boys still had feelings for one another after they entered university, so there wasn't really a need to get too into depth on how they would have reconciled after their sad departure. Would it have been nice to see a little of the exposition in their university years where they re-enter each other's lives and become friends again to lovers? Yeah, of course, it would have been - but it didn't ruin this drama for me. The last episode was cute, it felt like a small glimpse into what their life is like following them getting into a relationship. It was a nice close to it, honestly.

Overall, I just really really enjoyed it. I don't understand why it's 1. not gotten more attention and 2. surrounded by so much negativity.

Started Well But .....

It really started well as you see "high school best friends get separated and meet after several years to realize their love for each other" trope. After finishing ep.3 my curiosity for the drama increased a lot but after ep.5 i lost all my hope for the show.

The main lead is such a stupid character to exist and I know such characters really exist but still it was hardful to watch these shows in 2024. He really kissed a boy and next day he straight up goes to girl and confess he likes her because He does not want to disappoint his father. When he know that his brother also likes the same boy he wanted to win his brother atleast once so he chases after boy.

I was really expecting something like Our Dating Sim where both characters long for each other after separation and try their best to rekindle the love for each other. Here its straight opposite where one is clueless about love while other is reason for unncessary misunderstandings.

It was okay. Nothing More, Nothing Less

First off, I wouldn't say I wasted my time since I watched this mainly because of Lee Siwoo, so I came out like "Yep, I'm satisfied" since I got to see another work from her.

The story is okay, though it didn't really click with me. The initial hook was a very cute romance so I thought it was going to be that way all the way through, but after that, it hits you with a story about a disease that has spread in Korea that will dumb your brain and make every person only speak a limited amount of words which I thought it was going to be like a "The Flu" esc but minus the death which used brilliantly to coincide with the romance, a family drama which was okay to some extent since it made me feel something and a little bit of politics and throughout the end it left me with a wholesome feeling for how it ended.

The world of this movie is set in 2031 and it was shown a little bit as this very futuristic civilization, but since it's not really the main attention of this film, it hardly got highlighted, we just had 1 scene of what the city looks with a flying car passing by and maybe some scenes where some characters are interacting with a hologram screen and this high-tech wristband.

Characters are okay, though not much of them really stuck with me because, since this is an Hour & 7mins film there's not much character depth that they could do, so I hardly got attached to any of the characters, though I would give them props because even with the tight runtime, the pacing didn't become an issue, though it would feel like it's slow because it had a lot of talking.

Acting is good, especially because of how the disease works, so they really have to nail the body language, facial expression, and tonality of what they are saying, which they did, especially the mother of ML. The dynamic of ML and FL is really cute, though how I wish they could've shown us more since I was really invested in the romance aspect of this movie. The brother really annoyed the fuck out of me when he first appeared because he was introduced as this goofy playful brother who's always not there and rarely comes home, but if he does he's just there to goof around and do nothing, but it turns out he was actually doing some political works behind the scenes, sacrificing for the freedom of language and for ML to be able to end up with FL.

tension!!

The post credit is so hard to skip, that ost is fire, setting up the intense chemistry of the leads. I love a mini drama with a plot and this is one of it. Watching a mini drama is so non-stress that sometimes I prefer it over full dramas. Best of all, those kisses! That's how it is done! 2nd cp also cute in this one.

I was so shookt with how it opened. Really rare to see characters doing deeds in such a lengthy manner. I got intrigued right away.

I didn't have much info about the plot so I was blown away when ze'an appeared. Plot twist after plot twist!

For a mini drama, this is well done.

Just Cat Food Commercial

Yes you heard it right. A very very low budget cat and dog food commercial with here and there small filler of bl story.

As it is just a commercial you should never expect any explanation of what is actually happening and why it is happening. It is story at the bird's view so just fragments of things are thrown in so that you can connect it yourself.

A breaks up with B because B spends lot of time on C aka Cat , B misses A and request god for new boy ( but we dont whether he will neglect the boy again), B gets cat turned into boy and finally they lived happily ever after.

Lessons to be learnt - Take care of your cat more than your boyfriend cause who knows it may turn into human anytime and be your next boyfriend

A magical dream that you don't want to come out of

This drama has been out for more than 1.5 years and pretty much everything that needs to be said has been said. The only thing I want to add is that this drama is probably the most magical drama I have ever watched. It's like a dream that you don't want to get out of.

The things I liked:
1. The story was tight knit, solid and had good consistency throughout even though towards the end it felt a little disjointed but the thematic coherency they maintained was good.Execution was elegant, character development, plot development, dialogues everything was done with thoughtfulness and effort.
2. The acting. Aside from Dylan and Esther being downright spectacular, I liked how the supporting cast also proved themselves especially Zhang linghe as changheng and ronghao's actor was brilliant.
3. This drama has probably one of the best osts I have ever heard. It complemented the scenes and even provided context for the characters emotional states in such a way that was so raw and so poignant sometimes that you forget it's a drama.
4. The costumes. Especially dongfang qingcang's costumes that Dylan rocked. Man is made to be wearing long dark elegant beautifully embroidered robes! I loved the color schemes and the aesthetics that they were trying to going for that addr an extra layer to their identities, be it cangyan tribe or shuyuntian people or the XISHAN people.
5. Production value and cgi was through the roof. The budget reflects that and it delivered. One of the c dramas that I have seen with Hollywood level cgi.

Things I felt could be better:
1. The drama being 4 episodes longer which would have made the finale more impactful and not feel rushed. Especially dongfang qingcang's death and his revival.
2. Xunfeng and danyin should have been a couple.
3. More background on taisui and how the first goddess subdued him. I felt like they just introduced him as a plot device, about whom we got to know very little about. He just appeared few times and suddenly after ep 31 he is the big threat. The transition seemed forced.
4. Ronghao killing the xilan tribe and the supposed ties between xiyun and chidi was introduced and then was never addressed which is odd.

This drama is one of the best xianxia love stories that I have watched and many more dramas will come and go but this will have a special place in my heart.
