This was a very cutesy drama! It's cheesy and pulls all the cute tropes! It definitely has its sad moments but its mainly fluff! I would reccomend this drama if you enjoy the cuter/fluffy dramas. The one complaint i have is that the drama never truly takes itself seriously. At times when you feel the story is about to reveal something serious a comedic scene is played directly afterwards. I feel as if the cast was perfectly selected for these roles! Its truly a nice quick watch! I recommend this drama if you like cold male leads, work settings, and love triangles! I hope you give this one a chance!

It's difficult to review this drama, because the story/writing is just abysmal, but despite that there are some amazing things in it too. Many comments talk about Hwang JungEum being terrible in this, personally I think that this is the role that fit her the most out of all the roles that she had, her acting was phenomenal, it's not her fault that she had to portray a superstitious nutjob idiot of a woman. Ryu Junyol himself is also a nice surprise, he was so much more interesting in this one than in R1988. (I never understood why everyone wanted him to be main character in 88) Their chemistry was amazing. I liked pretty much all the side characters too, the exception being Gary Choi. What a super annoying male second lead he was..

To elaborate more on the bad writing. After enjoying the first 5-6 episodes the drama really started to drag & the stupid triangle started to annoy me quite a bit and then finally when all that was resolved following just one fuzzy episode everything went to shit as usual in many kdramas. I mean good God, that fortune teller just had to ruin everything. The ending is a cliche fest, forced separation into time skip into a rushed reconciliation.

I could nitpick about inconsequential things too such as how Tennis players don't have agencies, but rather they employ a crew, or an agent if they have to. Tennis is not the SK entertainment industry. Then there is the blonde Novak Djokovic...
There is also the recurring theme of stealing games/code pre-release. There are very good reasons why this doesn't happen, especially how it went down the second time around. Then again these I could easily forgive..

Lucky Romance is frustrating. The plot isn’t anything special and all in all it’s really nothing new.
BUT what makes this worth watching is some of the cast members. *ahem* Ryu Joon Yeol

Cast: Ryu Joon Yeol as Je Soo Ho is BEYOND adorable. Of course I’m superficial and initially I was unsure about him but he was amazing. I liked him almost immediately. I loved the way he played his character. Ryu Joon Yeol made Je Soo Ho into a really unique male lead and that made him the most refreshing part of Lucky Romance. Watching him fall in love was the cutest thing and it made me sooo jealous of Shim Bo Nui. Ryu Joon Yeol is what makes this drama worth watching. Also, his smile is cuteness overload!!

My other two favorites were Hang Ryang Ha by Jung Sang Hoon and Dal Nim by Lee Cho Hee. Ryang Ha was the perrrfect comic relief. He was so hilarious and I loved his relationship with Je Soo Ho. I love a good bromance. I wish he had had more screen time because his scenes were always a highlight for me. That brings me to Dal Nim who is also super adorable! I feel like her character would have been the annoying supporting character if not played by Lee Cho Hee. She made Dal Nim so precious and I just wanted to be best friends with her and protect her from the world. Together they were super precious.

Shim Bo Nui… I don’t know, it’s not that I minded her character all the time but there were whole episodes were I couldn’t help rolling my eyes. She was super cute with Je Soo Ho when she wasn’t being an idiot. I just couldn’t handle that she was a constant worrier and was always needing to be talked back into reality. Maybe it drove me crazy because I’m that way but I could not handle how dumb she was. The writers made her character almost seem mentally ill with how far they took the whole bad luck thing. Je Soo Ho basically became her babysitter and was constantly having to drag her back to reality. Hwang Jung Eum did her best to portray her as likeable but Bo Nui was just too unstable.

Plot: I don’t really need to go into detail but basically the plot is not very original. There isn’t really anything that sets it apart as being unique besides a few well written characters. It definitely starts out slow as many of the reviews mention and it quickly picks up momentum as the main couple’s relationship progresses. I could not handle the last couple episodes though as they revolve around Bo Nui being sooo stupid. Ugh, I’m sorry but I just don’t have the patience for stupid characters. And that last kiss though I have some serious beef with that!

I would recommend this if you like romance and super cute male leads. Just be aware that this is a pretty basic kdrama and it definitely has it’s frustrating cliche moments. Also, the first couple and last couple episodes are not that great.

The cutest, sweetest kdrama ever

I love the male lead in this drama. He might be one of my favorites out of the countless dramas I've watched. He was such an adorable nerd CEO who loved the female lead with his whole heart once he fell for her. They make a great couple. Well-developed second male lead and female lead storylines as well.

I was hesitant to start this drama because of the premise of needing to sleep with him... I was like wth? Thats weird. But I decided not discount it ourtifght because I watched another show (oh My hostess) that also had a main plot point of the female lead needing to sleep with the male lead to fulfill some sort of destiny. This drama carried out the story well and the antics had me laughing throughout. It was the perfect sweet, healing, funny kdrama.

Unique Story, Cute Romance, Likable characters

9/10 is my rating. This a 2016 South Korean Romantic Comedy television series With 16, 1 hr, episodes.

Shim Bo-nuI had lived a life filled with a series of tragic events. Looking for meaning she turns to a Shaman who tells her she is the epicenter of all the bad luck and gives her advice to take physical measures that make her seem odd to other people. She keeps many people at arms length for fear that her unlucky aura will cause bad things to happen to them. She keeps crossing paths with a cold genius CEO Je Soo-ho (Seol Woo-Byung). It has been years since her sister fell into a coma and doctors are encouraging Bo-nul to discharge her sister and care for her at home which is a likely death sentence. With years of unpaid medical bills and the diminishing possibility that her sister will ever wake up result in an urgency to the situation. Feeling powerless, Bo-nul once again turns to the Shaman for advice and he tells her she must sleep with a man from the year of the tiger to change her sister’s fate. It just so happens that the socially awkward and cold genius she keeps running into is year of the tiger. At the same time, Choi Geon-wook/Gary Choi (Lee Soo-Hyuk), Bo-nul’s childhood friend, returns to South Korea, after making it big as an international tennis star. He still has feelings for Bo-nul who was secretly his first love.

Spoiler 🚨 I really liked all the characters and the romance progressed in a way that was believable. It was even relatable how she became convinced she was unlucky and why she might try to feel in control by doing things the Shaman said would change an outcome. It felt a little frustrating at times when those around her point out how illogical some of her conclusions were she would stubbornly stick with her beliefs even when the outcome of events was overall positive. It came to a point where clinging to superstition was a way to shield herself from tragedy. It felt a bit cowardly at times and I found myself going from understanding to irritation because she hurt others by withdrawing lest her bad luck rub off on them. It was enjoyable overall well worth the watch.

What a wonder storyline, love the actress who played as Shim Bo Nui, seen most of her series and she is such a wonderful actress. I find that she likes to do comedy romance. Actor who played Je Su Ho is great as well, love his eyes and smile, he was good also in Reply 1988. Now the actor who played Choi Gun Wook is excellent, his voice is what draws me to watch his series, loved him in The Scholar who walked the night Going to see him and High School King Of Savvy. Overall this series was great from beginning to end. Every singe episodes was entertainmenting and a lot of funny and laughter in most of them.

The leads sure can act!

Huge fan of Ryu Joon Yeol in this. He was the perfect cute genius nerd and a perfect boyfriend. Hwang Jung Eum's acting is solid as always but why did the stylist give her such terrible clothes?

It's the perfect rom-com. I'm not a fan of the superstition premise but I enjoyed everything else, from the swoon-worthy romance to the love triangle (which I usually hate to watch) to the character's careers/goals.

Lots of laugh out loud moments in the beginning.

Enjoyed everyone in this drama, including the family members.

A feel-good drama, through and through!

Its pretty straight forward

Im writing this review qith a bit of love/hate. why ?
Cause its pretty straight forward.

I started this drama expecting a typical rom com , filled with heart fluttering moments , with those tad its of emotional heartbreaks , and an all is well ending .

What I got was something I did not all experience before. Was that bad ? yes and no.

The first 12 episodes of the drama flew by for me( except the first two a "bug" in the system as mentioned by above reviews) . In fact I liked it to a point where I thought its certainly gonna be extremely fun ride , which it was , but what i did not expect was how surprised I would be with the way romance is handled in this drama .

Dont get me wrong , it has everything a romcom drama has to offer , but where I got put off was towards the end , The lead characters apparent romantic troubles ,was in non chopped words, pretty bland. they show irrevocable trust in each other , which sort of defeated all the purpose of the introduced side characters and their backstories, and the ending is spelled out for you without any trouble, It was straight forward in its romantic emotions , If I may put it like that.
You know the feeling where you can almost feel the pain and emotions from the characters from the screen ?, which is something I live for. This drama did not present me with nothing of that sort from the romance side, which should never have been the case.

Nevertheless , This was a fun ride , I finished this way faster than I expecte to , Fun quirky character , a pretty good plot , and cute bffs , You'll definitely get the package all right , its just that it had pretty bad wrapping , and it sort of damaged an otherwise brilliant product.

Gotta watch out for people that give out easy 9s-10s for mediocre shows like these

Watched this because I like the FL in "She Was Pretty". That one was exciting. Dragged some bit but overall fun and energetic.

This show, someone said the first two episodes were not so good and to watch at least 4. Got to 5 because I was desperately hoping this would pick up. Skimmed through 6 and now I'm dropping this.

A huge copy paste romance, interesting story pitch but not very good execution. I totally don't get the attraction between her and the ML computer guy too and for a guy that claims an INSANE 200 IQ which is extremely rare in the world, handful of people, he stumbles on words and acts like a regular person. See him try his best memorizing basic lines. Anyhow, extremely boring and generic. Pretty disappointed. Having a harder and harder time trusting you guys with rating stuff....

I have to admit, I had a hard time watching the first episode, but I was intrigued by the idea for the plot and I was curious about how it's going to play out. I'm usually not a big fan of rom-coms because the usual awkwardness in those types of dramas tend to kill me. I survived for this one!
Story:
From reading the plot summary, I couldn't help myself but trying to watch this. The plot seemed unique to me. I'm glad I checked it out! What really drove the story the most though were the characters developing and their chemestry.
Acting:
I didn't start watching it for the actors at first but the table turned quickly. Ryu Joon Yeol and Hwang Jung Eum made me fall in love with them quickly. I read in the comments for this drama that some people were bashing Ryu Joon Yeol because he "wasn't handsome enough" for them... Let me tell you, while watching this he was the most handsome man in the world for me because of his CHARISMA! His acting, the character he played... I fell so hard for him. The chemistry between the leads was awkward but cute and lovely and I definetly laughed my ass off more than a few times while watching this.
Music:
Not much to say; Good for the athmosphere and fitting depending on the situations.
Rewatch value:
Already watched it twice and would go for a third time.
