must watch
I can't seem to find where to begin in my review.firstly based on my personal thoughts, this drama is one of the best I've watched so far, as a drama lover i find it interesting and well thought though there are some minor plot issue that I personally think could have been made better.
for the the protagonist takgu is well portrayed though I sometimes find it funny everytime Takgu reminded ManJu that he is the older brother when he is a bit smaller(height).
What intrigued me the most is Yu kyung's decision she could have chosen takgu and still get her revenge but don't misunderstand, i still find yukyung and manju cute together its just that I think takgu and yukyung is well suited as well.
in addition i find it hard to beleive that takgu's father seem so powerless even with his status.
in conclusion I believe this is one of the drama i watched and i will definitely recommend this to others.

I don't usually watch Korean drama. Mostly because i don't too like the actor and actress (too many plastic surgery makes me feel they all the same face) and not too much like the language (sorry). Sometimes i feel Korean drama also too exaggerated in someway more than Chinese drama. But with king of baking i don't think they exaggerated at all. Everything just in their place.
A little flaw:
> Shin Yoo Kyung (SYK) feeling toward Goo Ma Jun (GMJ) is a little bit odd. How come she just jumping to like him... Odd for me.
> Kim Tak Goo (KTG) character development you can say too positive... Yeah I know that's what good from KTG himself. But don't you think is odd people with the background like KTG can grow into that positive. He also seems have no problem with his dad what so ever.
Like: KTG finally choose Yang Mi Sun and not hanging in his feeling toward SYK.
Love: The ending where they finally get along together.
Re-watch: One time is enough for me

While watching this, it was very prominent that the drama industry has developed alot in these past years since Baker King was on air.
Baker King definitely has the old time feel to it with focus on the dramatic parts since that is what the plot relys on.
It is safe to say that I really enjoyed it since I have been stuck infront of my computer. The acting was mostly good except some overacting which actually made laugh haha
The characters was well fleshed out and felt very real, they all had their own story and character development.
A big plus was the ost, so good!

The most amusing bread in the world
This drama has many typical makjang elements, but the story sucked me in with its heartbreak, secrets and courage in face of all odds. It's ten years old, but it is still the 30th highest rated Korean drama of all time. While the show features lots of delicious looking bread and dough preparation, it's evident the writer knew nothing whatsoever about bread. Having baked bread since I was 8 years old, I find the world of breadmaking portrayed here unrealistic and comical. It is not necessary or particularly helpful to have a good sense of smell when making bread. Nor does it take years and years to master the art, especially in a commercial bakery with professional equipment. However, perhaps it would take years in that particular bakery because the teacher is never once shown actually teaching anyone how to make bread. The apprentices seem to be left to flounder and scrape along on their own with no guidance. After years of working there they don't even have the least idea how to make sourdough, for goodness' sake.
Definitely watch this show for the family drama and character development, not the baking.

I had a hard time watching the first part of the drama which sets up the characters and the villains because I can't stand watching bad things happen to little kids. And the villains do so many despicable things that I had an upset feeling in my stomach watching it. I almost dropped it. But after getting through the beginning, I enjoyed the middle and end of the drama. Though Kim Tak Gu is so good that he's very unrealistic, I have a soft spot for him because I like to believe that the qualities of hopefulness and goodness can actually be such a strength in life.
Though much of this is a stereotypical melodrama / soap opera with the archetypal good and bad characters and over-the-top plot, the baking story element gives it something different and refreshing. And without giving away the story, there are certain elements that didn't turn out in the stereotypical way as well -which I appreciated. Enjoyed this overall.

I tried really hard to like this drama because the first few episodes seem to set up the storyline for so much potential. Unfortunately, while the premise is enticing, it reveals too much information about the characters. As a result, you can pretty much predict what will happen next in the drama. Due to the lack of any particularly surprising twists, this otherwise emotional drama ends up being rather dull.
A lot of the plot is driven by nothing other than "fate" or "sincerity" and lacks logic and reality. On many occasions, the lead character is shown to be completely incompetent, but suddenly, due to some well-timed advice or some miraculous coincidence, he suddenly pulls off some unbelievable task.
It is also quite repetitive, in that you can expect to see characters exchanging the same set of lines multiple times throughout the drama. The first time would be invigorating, the second time satisfying, and the third time tedious. Although dramatic pauses and slow speeches are sometimes necessary for effect, this drama seems to lag around for much too long and employ too many flashbacks of the first few episodes and could probably be shortened by about 15 episodes if you cut out the excessive flashbacks.
ACTING/CAST
In particular, Joo Won, Eugene, Lee Young Ah, Park Sung Woong, and the child actors pulled off their rolls spectacularly, demonstrating both the complexity and raw emotions that one would expect from individuals with their characters' past. Some of the other key actors, however, seem to be rather one-dimensional and their acting cringe-worthy. It was difficult to rate the acting in this drama though because 1) the actors are either amazing or quite lacking and 2) sometimes I can't tell if faulty performance was due to bad acting or poorly designed characters.
MUSIC
The music wasn't particularly stunning nor was it lacking. It had the characteristic courageous music at the key moments, which set up a theme for the drama. Music fits the mood of the scene.
REWATCH VALUE
This drama was predictable the first time watching it, so I doubt watching it again would be interesting.
