I've spent the last hour reading awful things about Privates/anti-fans/sasaeng fans. Wtf?!! Those people doesn't deserve calling themselves fans.. they are just crazy people!! Right now I'm trying to take in what I've just read.. I'm really shocked. Just look at this picture, creepy?? (Look behind the window)
Wow, and this :o
One private was almost hit by a car while following Yunho around, and she got saved by him or other members?? Dunno.. anyway. Now other privates have started imitating her, trying to get saved by a member.. Aigooo!!!
This is from this article: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QXbyYQjPbfXtdcRF4Uh9k-2wx_VUHzfbjV80ZnwsRHg/edit?pli=1
Crazy people.. I'm going for a run while listnening to TVXQ.. poor people!

This one doesn't bother me so much. Let me explain; Usually when big stars appear at restaurants, stores and the like don't big crowds usually gather when they discover the famous person is in said restaurant or store? This pic doesn't really scream Saesang Fan to me. More like 'crowd gathers when star appears' which, while is probably a pain in the arse for the poor guy, it probably is something that happens more often than not.
Now when I read about 'privates' or Saesang fans chasing them down in taxis or installing CCTV cameras near their apartments or taking pictures with zoom lenses into their homes and on and on...that is really super creepy. Is there something going on in the background of this picture that I am not getting...other than a crowd gathering when they know a famous person they like is inside?

lol I agree. It's not terrible (the picture), but it does make me giggle at how from a distance they look like ghosts. XD
Yes! I'm weird and find humor in horror! Don't judge me!

No, no. You got it right. You are not missing out on anything. The picture only freaked me out, and I agree with famous person = big crowd following around. The way they are leaning against the window just freaked me out^^
Hehe, it does remind a bit of a zombie movie or something like that :))
I think the creepiest incident so far that I've heard one was told by Jaejoong in some talk show: he texted Yoochun, arranging a meeting some couple hours later in a park. Two minutes later, Jaejoong receives a text message from someone, saying "Jaejoong oppa, why are you meeting Yoochun in the park later?". That's like WTF all over the place...
It's super weird. I mean, as much as I disagree with all the aggressive fans, I can still understand the logic behind being like that, if JJ had texted some girl. That's not acceptable, of course, but I would just understand that the fan got jealous - at least that makes sense when you think about it. But what, now they can't meet their own band members?

to me that makes sense on no level. it's indicative of an inability to seperate fantasy from reality. once the cameras are off or the artist is on his own time they are seperate from the public persona that fans have a right to.
i suppose since i've actually HAD a stalker i am reluctant to accept any justification of the behavior.

Seeing the logic behind something is not the same as agreeing with it. Let's take an extreme example: a kid was being beaten by his parents all the time, perhaps even sexually abused. When he grows up, he goes mental and kills his parents. Now, I don't agree with that, cause it's still a murder, but that makes sense because I can see the logic behind it - the kid was being beaten so he wanted revenge. Since it's logical, it makes sense.
there is no logic behind stalking. any" logic" is derived from the delusion. it is not logical for the stalkers to be jealous, it is a by product of thier mental illness. they are acting out their obsession. obsession is by definition illogical.
i think this is part of the over all problem, esp in korea, that this behavior, while seen as odd or out there isnt addressed as what it truely is, a symptom of a dangeous mental illness. when females do it it is seen as less dangerous (not just in korea) if the korean legislature isnt willing to address the issue it is only a matter of time before some one gets seriously hurt. the longer stalking goes on the more likely it is to turn violent.

People can be really crazy when it comes to their idol, I mean CCTV, seriously
If you want another example, I know that the actress Shin Se Kyung had to close her mini home page because she was insulted by a LOT of Jong Hyun fans when she was dating him
And about Tablo... that is just wrong, what's the point in doing this... don't they have other things to do
You should read this, it's about JYJ' saesang fans.
actually, i have read this article a month ago and it bothers me. and i really felt it was unfair for the idols to be treated that way. JYJ has the most "privates" fans (as what that article calls them). are they also called saesang fans? i have no idea the idols are going through until ive read those information about these kinds of fans. i even read an article that Jang Geum Seok is having a problem with them, too. and it pissed him.
i call myself a fan, too. sometimes i would google a lot of things or info about my idol. i would even google if he has/had a girlfriend, news on their upcoming dramas and fan meetings, etc. but i think those saesang fans are not normal and i think they are SICK. most of them gave up on their everyday lives, and follow around the star's schedule. these fans are STALKERS that violate the privacy of the stars.

I google the crap out of the actors and actresses I like. But I don't follow them around in taxi cabs, set up cctv cameras around their home, call them on their phones, post messages all over the internet about how much I want to kill their girlfriends/wives or take pictures of them by telephoto lenz in their homes. I am a curious fan. I am not...and neither are you, a stalker crazy freako who needs to be behind bars. Rest easy girl.
Very interesting thread even if I didn't read all the links you posted. I agree with most of what has been said.
I'm not really surprised that some people can go very far for/because of (??? don't know wich word is appropriate) the idols they like. Or because of parties, ideas, religions... Look at all violent acts some english, french, italian or any other european "supporters" do before, during or after football matches (soccer). They just cannot accept defeat, just as they cannot stand that other people can support another team. This is just sport, after all.
I don't think we can call this madness (except for some stalkers); it just seems to be the only way fans can find to express their frustration towards things they cannot control. I'm not trying to find any excuse to these behaviours, just thinking that human beings are often very aggressive because of helplessness.
Someone said they must be "nolife". Maybe some of them are, but I think there are few. As a kind of "nolife" myself, I can understand how frustrating it is sometimes to see that people you admire find someone and marry and have children. But I just find it frustrating because, I am not able to do the same (and I think like that because I'm already in my thirties and there are so many people younger than me who met someone and marry and have babies( though i'm not interesting in marrying and having children)). Truth is that it doesn't matter at all : I like them because they are good singers/actors or seem to me so. Or because of the character they played in a drama touched me. Sometimes, I wish I can meet them, but, 1) it is very very very unlikely to happen, 2) I don't think we can get along very well with each other, 3) I may be disapointed, 4) it is very very very unlikely to happen... And the people I like change very often.
To me, most of these "crazy" fans are young people (teenagers or young adults) who are not really aware of the consequences of their acts or what they write (as much as people who talk about their private life or post private photos on Facebook). Youth is not an excuse, but this is the time when everything seems possible, so why not meeting nor dating the idol they like? As someone said, some cannot distinguish fantasy from reality. This is sad, and dangerous. But we can expect things will change in the future for those people who will understand how bad was their behaviour. (I feel like a very old lady in writing those things...).
I'm sorry for this sooooo long post and the bad english. it took me ages to write it...

I didn't want to re-post your whole thing but I just wanted to say, I found your observations interesting. and agreed! I can understand the element of frustration but I think for me, it comes mostly from not being in the same country and limited access to the projects, films, dramas a favorite star might be acting in. The long long wait to watch the new things that come out.
The other side to that coin...the side you are talking about above, where the frustration gets out of hand and turns to crazy behavior always baffles me! I think a lot of us might feel sometimes we have no life but I can't imagine what pushes people over the edge into those crazy stalker over the top actions.
Good Post!
To Jeaniessi : Thanks !!!
Just wanted to add that it's scaring to think that people can easily swing from strong but sane admiration to crazy behaviour cause the limit is sometimes so thin... And it may be even more frustrating when realising you cannot come back to previous state cause something is broken (don't know if it's clear...)
