Hey beca, come to the IRC. I think I may have found something.
Drama Genre Tards:

Why do the powers that be always insist on classifying dramas that aren't sauguks or action/adventure as Rom Com? What is wrong with Romantic Dramas? Do they think we're simple minded and if they don't describe a romantic drama as "laugh out loud funny" that the audience will turn away? There are so many Korean romantic/slice of life dramas that well...aren't even written to be comedy. There might be some comedic moments but the plot leans more toward the dramatic than comedic and yet every synopsis seems to describe them as Rom-coms. Grrrrr! Me To Flower...NOT a rom com. and that's okay. It's good! It's well written, smart, engaging...but almost not the least bit comedic. There are lighter moments and some funny scenarios but for the most part...very dramatic. Same with Scent of A Woman. Ummm...not a rom com! Please...powers that be..somebody out there. Stop the bullshite! Call a spade a spade and stop treating your audience as stupid. Oh wait, sorry...sometimes they kind of are.

Case in Point: Heartstrings being 5 on the top dramas of 2011 list. Ugh... (/me still not over it)
Ohh I've noticed them doing that! There are some dramas listed as a Rom-Com when they're really in between a comedy and a melodrama. They should call them just Romantic dramas, it'd fit! And yeah Scent Of A Woman was not really what I'd classify as a Rom-Com either. And hahaha they really are sometimes.. =___=

And I know! I'm just glad that The Princess' Man overlapped it!!
LOL I know! Some Rom Coms are just Roms and some are just Coms. Why not let them be what they are. Set them free! (wow that was kinda hippieish :p) hahah
*bump* This thread died :O REVIVE!

So Let me start off with a topic that we've recently been discussing. People that review/rate a drama that hasn't even finished airing. Or rate it when it has even BEGUN airing. I just think it's ridiculous. I understand you might be excited to see it or it has one of your biases in it. But be reasonable. How can you know the drama is good when is hasn't even started?

Haha it did! D:

I find it ridiculous, too. Okay if you rate it a 1O right off the bat. If you want to rate it to start off after the first episode with I think a solid "8" would suffice and either go up or down. I don't understand how people give it a 1O when it hasn't aired yet. Yes you might wind up giving it a 1O when it's over but there's really no knowing if something will happen to make the drama not good.

I also don't understand giving "1O out of 1O" to every drama you've seen... There are dramas that you're going to like more than others, but by doing that you're basically saying you fell crazy in love with each and every drama you've seen. But yet I've seen people give a drama a 1O and then complain about a few parts of it. Doesn't that mean it's not a 1O but a 9? Maybe I'm overthinking things =___=

Haha True. Although I may have rated something a 10 while still complaining about it. But usually that's because whatever I complained about wasn't that irritating to me in the bigger picture. But I don't understand everything getting a 10. I mean I rate a lot of dramas a 10, but that's because they really entertained me, but I also know that not all dramas are perfect score material.

Haha yeah what I mean is if you've seen like 3O or 4O dramas and like 35 of them are rated a 1O I think something is wrong =___= No 8's or 9's but just 1O's. I'll give 1Os out to dramas I really really loved and found little wrong with it. Although dramas with a 9 are also favorites haha. Dramas with an 8 I found pretty good but not all are favorites. I guess I look at a lot of things when I rate.

Haha Yeah I've seen that too. It does seem wrong to rate 95% of your dramas a 10

They just probably thought that the drama was so good that they were under the impression that if they had just rated it over 10 it would not explain the all awesomeness of the drama so they had to give it an higher rating.

True, it's just when I see them rate every single drama a 1O I start to wonder...haha
