I think it was how it told it through time passing. You really feel that passing of time in this drama

lol the same thing happened to me but even worst. I was liking it, in a mehhh style. Then came episode 13 and I was completely hooked! I couldn't freaking stop watching! I remember I had a test and I didn't study for it because I just HAD to see what happened next, even if I didn't wanted it to end. Then the end came and I was FURIOUS. I mean I hated it! I went to sleep and when I woke up I had an epiphany: It was GENIUS. One of the best dramas ever, I loved Reply and I the things that I didn't like, I didn't like because it reminded me of something I had done or someone had done to me.
I think this is the most incredibly thing about this drama: It's not so much the story that it's great but the way that it is written so that it makes you nostalgic and gets you hooked :)
just finished ep1 ... that is what u call a die hard fan wow
I finished the drama last weekend and absolutely loved it! I gave it 10/10! It's funny, in 1997, I was 10 years old and it was the beginning of boyband realness in the U.S., but I was never a fangirl then. Now, I'm a fangirl, and it's weird. I think if I watched this show in 2005, I wouldn't be able to relate either, but now, now is the right time. However, there are some things in the show that made me tear up with nostalgia: Sony Walkman cassette and Panasonic cd players, Tamagotchis (I had GigaPets, but same difference), the popularity of Shaq backpacks, and so many other things. Reply 1997, for me, will always be one of my favorites. There is so much heart in it, and there is not a character that I loathe, and I think that's a plus. Sometimes, you don't need a villain to make good drama. :D
I really don't understand what this drama is about.. but it seems that quite many people like it. I have only watched the first episode and it was just confusing. :P i wonder if i should continue to watch it? :)

I think you should lol. I know the first episode is kinda confusing, I feel it too and some of my friends as well. Well for me the confusing part is the plot but on the next episode the plot is not confusing and you'll understand the story and the plot yourself later. You should continue \O/ lol

i think you will continue to be confused as to what this drama is about for the first half of the drama, but i kept up with it cuz it was funny and it slowly got me into it.
I just finished watching Reply 1997 and I can't rate it high enough!! Very well written and fantastically acted by all the actors and actresses. It was amazing...at first I thought this was good then it became really good and as I was approaching the end I knew I was watching a masterpiece. It had the 'whole journey' something I've been looking for. Also it was very nostalgic for me watching this as I remember owning a Tamagotchi (yes when it first came out!!) and I took it to my lectures at University!! It was beeping when I took it to my exams :) I wasn't a heavy fan girl but I did have a favorite idol of the 90's and it was Leon Lai (HK Canto pop singer)....I really loved him!! Posters and a hoodie with his picture on the front I used to wear around!! Ahh those were the days!

This drama was a real suprize!

While it was airing I didn't want to watch it, because of the hype about it.

After I watched a music vid of K. Will I was like: Ahh that boy from Love Rain.
In the comments to the MV someone mentioned Reply. So just for Seo In Guk I started the drama and got hooked.

Somehow this drama teleported me back to my teen years. Loved the drama for all the lol moments that reminded me of me or my friends back in the day.

I didn't give it a 10. Why? I only give 10 to dramas and movies that I will definitly re-watch. not sure if I'll watch this one again.

Still applause to the creators behind this drama.
I didn't really want to watch this drama, since I wasn't born in Korea and couldn't relate to fangirling to H.O.T(for us H.O.T=Backstreet Boys, and Sechskies=N'Sync so after watching the drama, I found that I COULD relate, in a way) - I'm glad my roommate chose this drama to watch next - it took me back to the days where life was so simple, and friends were so precious like family - I was still in elementary school in the 90's, but this drama spoke to me, and I'm sure many, no matter where they're from or what era they were born can relate...by the time the drama ended, the nostalgia was unbearable and I have already arranged a play-date with some of my childhood friends so we can go hang out when I come home to visit from college - I'm fortunate enough to have a group of friends similar to the ones from the drama, though not a romantic special like Yoon Jae(unfortunately lol) I want to highlight on the back-and-forthness of this drama - it was especially evident in the first few episodes, and continued through to the very end - sometimes when they add these kinds of flashbacks to movies/shows it's just to get you to understand a situation, but the fact that the creators of the drama took it a step further so that it was like looking into everyone's hearts/perspectives, really added to the charm of this drama
I originally had no intention of watching this drama. I decided to give it a shot after I saw how many rave reviews it had. At first I didn't really like it that much. Before I knew it though, I was hooked. I liked how they didn't just show you when the characters were teenagers, but instead took you through their adolescent years and into adulthood. I felt like I was able to grow up with them. I especially felt connected to the story of unrequited love. PS- that damned sheep sound in the background started to grow on me. Initially, I thought it was random as hell but after a while I started to go "where's the sheep? This scene needs a sheep!!!!"
