@ Hakoye, I agree with you about waiting for quality dramas. Once I watch several good ones, wasting my time on mediocre ones seems like a bad decision, especially when I'm busy.

@ Brownie, I noticed you mentioned starting several dramas at the same time. I don't know if you are similar to me, but the only time I've experiences a real drama slump was when I kept being disappointed in several dramas, so I kept starting new ones, eventually getting bored with all of them. Maybe it's what happened to you, too. When I carefully chose 1 to focus on and am lucky enough to pick a good one, this doesn't happen to me.

I agree with you, this year especially has been extremely difficult for me to pick up a new drama. I don't know why, but this year's dramas seem to be lacking to me or maybe I feel like I've seen the same faces so its boring. I'm still hung up on Circle.

It can happen when all the recent dramas on air may seem disappointing - especially if you're watching on a legal streaming site where the selections are limited. I'd suggest trying out an older drama. You might be surprised how much more engaging it is. When I picked up Prosecutor Princess I was really enthralled..Idr what other drama I was watching alongside, but I was more interested in the older drama.

Another suggestion is those 50+ episode dramas. At first it takes time to get to the juicy parts - and although they can get draggy, by 25th episode they become addicting.
As for Variety shows, some are available on YouTube channels. KBS World TV has The Return of Superman, Hello Counselor, Happy Together, Sister's Slam dunk, and more: https://www.youtube.com/user/kbsworld/playlists?shelf_id=15&sort=dd&view=50    DramaFever has Running ManNvm, they privated all their older episodes on their yt channel. Another channel is https://www.youtube.com/user/MBCentertainment but it seems like they've only got clips

KBS Drama Specials are also available on youtube.

Here's some Recs:

KBS Drama Special:

Drama Special Season 7: My Happy Home - Fantasy/Sci-fi with an atypical plot

Short/Web Drama:

First Love Story - Unlike other web/mini dramas, this has a cohesive plot with a beginning, middle, and end - but it spans 3 seasons. Can be watched here.

Regular Dramas:
Nobuta Wo Produce (2005) - J-drama; High School, Friendship & Bullying; It's a classic J-drama on friendship that a lot of people loved & enjoyed.
Liar Game (2007/2014) - There's a J-Drama & K-Drama Version; Psychological, Suspense.; Pretty interesting plot & premise if you're into psychological stuff.
Kill Me, Heal Me (2015) - Psychological, Rom-Com; Deals with DID. Lots of people loved this show. Worth it for the comedy & ML's split personality. There's some hilarious characters & Ji Sung's acting is incredible. Here's clips of what to expect (x,x)
Ex-Girlfriend Club (2015) - Rom-Com; The drama is only 12 episodes long, and the beginning of a drama is hilarious - If you enjoyed Eulachacha Waikiki & slapstick humor then this drama is for you.
Mask  (2015) - Good revenge drama if you're in the mood for melo & suspense. I watched it back in 2015 and it was good for it's time - but idk maybe there are better recent ones like Money Flower
The Lover  (2015) - Sitcom (Episodic), Rom-Com. Another comedy drama, though the comedy is more R-rated (sexual innuendos & jokes); otherwise a very low-key, realistic, slice of life drama;
Please Come Back, Mister (2016) - Highly suggest to watch this one :) It's a roller coaster of emotions & a beautiful drama.
Something About 1 Percent(2016) - Rom-Com; Great short drama to watch if you're in the mood for romance; Since the episodes are short, it's straight to the point with no frills like evil MIL's and such
Age of Youth (2016) - Sitcom, Rom-Com. with mystery aspects. Lots of people loved this show.

Well, reality TV shows like Heart Signal (Korean) and Terrace House (Japanese and on Netflix I hear) caught my eye. I haven't got time for them at the moment though. You might wanna check them out.

i've decided to watch only jdramas since the beginning of the year after always being disappointed with the newer kdramas so i feel you

@Hakoye I'm actually  more into OSTs type of music and whilst I've only watched UP10TION, Please I did enjoyed the type of activities that were on that show. So, I guess that's the type of variety shows that has captured my attention. Also, there's only one k-drama I'm actually looking forward to but it's not for a good 3 weeks so I'm getting kinda anxious to get that one started. XD

@Linus Its a MUST that I have several dramas I'm currently watching otherwise I'll just get bored unless I'm REALLY into it. Sometimes I find myself binging up to 3 episodes of a Taiwanese drama and then 2 episodes of a thai lakorn and then an episode of a Chinese drama. I wouldn't have survived this long without them. XD

@Rebeccaabena I couldn't even get into Circle, lord knows I tried but I gave up after the first episode. I can't seem to recover from Waikiki and INAR which I know were very recent but they had me hooked, so badly.

@Anajwo I made a start on Rich Son during easter but then it went from 50 episodes to 100. The 3 digits seem kinda off putting because it means there will be a lot of annoying people and dragging which I hate. Super picky watcher, here.

@Ari I watched 2 j-dramas and a few movies. I've started a few other j-dramas but I can't seem to get the hand of the language so I just don't complete them

I have lots of college stuff to do until Thursday this week but I'll see what I'll be able to watch over the weekend.

Thanks again, everyone. :D

Usually when I get tired of series, I go back to my favourites to re-watch. If that doesn't work, then I start watch anime or read manga. And after a long while, I'm back again. Its been a few months since I watched a drama, but then a few weeks ago, oh dear. I've watched like 18 different series. Some are movies, some are long dramas, some are web dramas, and one is a special. I am crazy addicted, and I've never gotten to this stage of addiction (at least for dramas, anime and manga I have definitely became addicted to, although I'm not sure about this degree...), and somehow it has not stopped, and doesn't seem to be ending. So I'm glad I'm out of that hole, and I'm in something completely different. But it happens to me more than this. I rarely watch more than 2 or 3 (especially if I don't re-watch a series, because often I get bored or annoyed and I really want to watch an amazing series, so back I go to my favourites lol). Sometimes, though, its the drama. You gotta find that one drama that you love so much it gives you the giggles or the heart wrenching crying. Fighting~!

P.S. Example of an amazing series I just finished the other day was Suspicious Partner. Not sure if its your cup of tea, but I effing loved it lol.

Been through that time a lot. Personally for me there are a lot of reasons sometime its just cause im tired sometimes its because the show I watched is too good.

Id say you either take a break on kdramas only and watch other countries drama (if you norm don't) as their takes on drama are diff. I like to go to J-drama during this time as I like their comedy and thriller dramas...its always so good despite how short they can be.

You can also watch c-dramas each ep isn't as long as a kdrama although they do have a lot of ep but personally its not as tiring to finish 1 drama sometimes. I rec:

Love O2O

 My Mr Mermaid

 Where the lost ones go

The other option is just take a complete break on watching dramas in general. Finish whatever things you have to do like hw and stuff (if in sch) or work. Aft a mth or so (can be lesser or longer) come back hopefully by then there will be new shows that are to your liking.
