After some searching, I found an old topic and in one of the replies it's suggested that users have to select predefined categories before posting on MDL feed. Here is the link to the particular comment:

https://mydramalist.com/discussions/suggestions/17405-news-feed-management-more-options?pid=530669&page=1#p530669

In my opinion this is a good suggestion especially when a lot of people don't feel comfortable with feed posting lately. Therefore I would like to dedicate this topic for the above suggestion.

I'm opening a new topic because this was commented some time ago under an old suggestion. I'm not sure about the status, yet I won't waste my vote worrying admin will only take the OP suggestion and not considering this additional suggestion.

The mechanism is simple and already explained roughly in the link above, but I want to add few more ideas. Make few simple categories that users have to tick (make the field required), my suggestion:

  • Artist Gossip
  • World News
  • Off Topic (non Asian drama post including anime and western shows)
  • Discussion
  • General (means screen shots, drama updates and so on)

Users have to chose one category only when posting, otherwise they can't click on "Share" button. Please make this as a separate function from spoiler, so that after choosing 1 category user would still have to decide on spoiler or not.

Secondly, create a filter when viewing the public/friend feed, so that users would be allowed to choose whatever categories they don't want to see in the filter setting. By default all categories should be showing.

Im totally for that idea. Im not really fonf of gossip or policy descussions regarding it so this would be a huge help with blending it out.

Thank you for voting! Hopefully this would be better than to have block someone just because he/she posted 1 topic that you didn't like... And the mute option seems like pain in the a** too as you had to see the post first to click on the mute button

We will have something similar for feeds this year.

Thanks for the heads up Ji-N!! Looking forward for the changes.

I'm good in any ways, but when browsing through the feed it's tiring to see some users complaining this post is inappropriate, that post was too political....it would be great if everyone could enjoy using this site and not only centered around group of escapism ideologist only...

I'm bringing this back up. we could really use filters by country, like kdramas, cdramas and so forth, or an option like the one we have for "genres advance search" where we choose the topics we want to follow and X the topics we don't want to see.

lately the feed is too hectic that it's not fun anymore, there's no unity. it's like twitter xD

Commenting that I voted 1 vote.
