Not as serious as I thought it would be… This drama seems to have been produced more like an average romcom. There is something very wrong with this production. With the exception for Allen Ren, I can understand not every production is going to have a stellar cast… I fully understand that. However in this drama… The script, the general writing, the directing and the editing are seriously lacking. I am not sure about this one, yet.
*After watching the following military dramas… - “Arsenal Military Academy” - “You Are My Hero” - “The Glory of Youth” - “Glory of the Special Forces” It is difficult to watch one deviating more on the comical side.
Propaganda or whatnot… I am always favorable to any military genre. “A girl may have not join the service, contrarily to her family’s military tradition; however, her military’s genes will always remain.”
*I was very much convinced by Yang Yang’s performance. He has evolved a lot, as an actor in recent years. I really thought that I was going to favor more “The Glory of Youth” with Li Yi Feng… Surprisingly enough, I love both “The Glory of Youth” and “Glory of the Special Forces” equally.
*I wish we had many more episodes for both of them.
You know something is that good… Just looking at the mere poster of it…Makes you laugh🥹😅😂🤣.
Although “Mr. Queen” is a comical Sageuk; however, one of the very best that I have watched and truly enjoyed in recent years. The last Sageuks that I truly enjoyed were “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” - Kdrama and “The Swordsman” - Korean movie. And that says a lot…
There is a continuous pattern here… Xiao Yun Jie (A likable character but with some very average abilities) never does anything remotely special nor extraordinary; however, this beyond-than-lucky-dude always enjoys the benefits from Yan getting scolded, framed, yelled at, disqualified, demoted, passed over, reprimanded and downright disliked by the entire Chinese military. Xiao Yun Jie is one lucky character.
Can't stop comparing this to the first one..... This one felt like they just changed some scenarios, threw in…
I completely and totally agree with your comment. If one did not watch the prequel… This sequel might have been ok. However just like you, I did watch the prequel so this one, to me, is more like, Hmmmmmmm🤔. Not really funny.
Actually, I am rather disappointed by this sequel. The main theme of this movie, “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure,” is obviously pirating and comedy with a slight undertone of seriousness. However for me, the comedy portion was too forced and the delivery was not really natural. They were trying so hard to be comical that they came out rather faked.
*Personally, I did not enjoy this sequel as much as I did enjoy watching the prequel, “The Pirates (2014)” with Kim Nam Gil and Son Ye Jin.
5 months later… I am finally back to continue this costume drama. And just as 5 months earlier… I still think that the emperor is a fastidious and a pompous a$$; who thinks the whole world revolves around him. Why it is so difficult for DramaLand’s writers to create a likable second male lead (Emperor’s character) like, Zhen Lan/Lang Gan from “Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities?”
My… My… My… That female lead’s acting is rather unique, to say the least. Then, her servant in the ancient time is just as unique. 🤨🤨🤨
This is hard to believe this was written by a legit writer. I waited 7 months to start this drama; however, I think that I could have waited even longer. I pity Thomas Tong… Once again, in a subpar production.
Episode 7 starts with a confusion so monstrous that it kills the drama by itself. We see the child and think it's…
We all spent more than half of the drama, thinking the initial young boy who watched his father perishing in front of him was SaeHa… That is why his biological mother went into deep depression after her husband’s death and even worked as a blue collar worker at a manufacturing plant to make ends meet. Then out of no-where… No explanations… No clarifications… SaeHa is actually the young boy of a scientist who unfortunately died by being at the wrong place and at the wrong time; that faithful night…🤨🤦🏽♀️.
Therefore why SaeHa always got so worked up whenever the janitor’s death was mentioned in the early episodes? And why his biological mother was bedridden and comatose before his first time travel’s jump? What exactly happened to her that brought her into that comatose state?
So many questions… Starting from episode 5 and 6 and on… However, nothing got answered…
Exactly, what the F$$k was that mess about😡? It was interesting enough to keep us watching… Hoping that at some point, it will make sense. But NO… Not even Dr. Albert Einstein nor Dr. Strange could make sense of that Sci-Fi of a mess. The general acting was great and the directing was not half-bad; however, the writer or writers simply gave up (All-together) halfway through.
*That was “The Matrix Resurrections” all-over again. YES, 10 episodes are more than enough. We don’t need a second season.

Therefore, I really hope that “The Emperor’s Love” will also become one of my classic favorites.

So many dramas have been buried 6 feet under; less than halfway through off those very first episodes.
