He loved her so much but was scared to voice his opinion, until he just exploded. I'm looking forward to see how they show these too communicating their individual wants and needs in a relationship.

My thoughts are a direct comparison between the novel and drama.

In the novel Gu Wei comes from a larger family that has his grandparents, cousins, aunts, niece etc. who they mention and even make appearances in the novel.

Why did they change his and her family relationship to make it seem more dramatic?
Obviously we cannot see all the different characters from the novel in the drama because they would need more actors, more time and money. But they could have left their family as being nice and loving people from the 1st introduction. Why must most dramas have drama in the family?

An age gab does not always mean that the younger partner is less mature or experienced. Plus he also has no experience with dating too so why write her character like that?

She is cute, hardworking, loving and is trying to carved out her own path. But I do think they could have done better.

The 1st episode makes the dad seem not nice. Yes many people can say that her dad is just over protective. But Lin Xiao herself highlights her dads behaviour. A stark difference from the novel. It's not to say that he does not love her nor was his behaviour something that many people with strict parents never experienced but that does not mean that those behaviours were always right.

The drama portrays her as been reckless and not very smart (I'm not speaking on academics). Yes musicians are very smart, I'm not saying they aren't. . But why did the writers write her character to be a student that is struggling with her cello to the point that many, from her parents and teachers believe that she cannot play well and even she acknowledges that she doesn't play well and will have to work hard. They could have easily not emphasized how much she is struggling with her music and made her not the greatest cellist but good at least.

I do know she is young and is striving for her own identity and career, but she was not written that way at all in the book. So my thoughts were a direct reflection of those differences.

If we also look at the comments we can see how more people like and Gu Wei verse Lin Xiao in terms of behaviour. Why do most female characters always need to mature, need to learn more , need to find their passion verses their male partners who are almost always more successful and established?

I must say that the script writer really Fu**ed up Lin Xiao character.
Even Sansan character is written badly.

I wonder what is the obsession of these drama writer's in making females crazy, impulsive, indecisive, not too smart etc. While writing a seemly perfect male lead.

Can we please usher in the era of both leads being smart and rational while being in love.

I like Oath of love and it will definitely be one of my favorite dramas but I don't like the way they wrote Xiao Xiao.

I'm enjoying each weeks episodes but I can't help but be disappointed that they made Lin Xiao seem to be this aimless and reckless college student. That frankly isn't too smart.

In the novel she is a studying Geology, preparing to write her thesis & then gets into graduate. school.

I also don't like how they made the dad seem so bad. When he was in the hospital and asking her if she thought the Dr's were handsome. They have a great relationship.

I would have loved to see Lin Xiao give Gao Xi that dress down from the book & witness that cute way his mother met and found out about Lin Xiao.

I do think that Lian Kilen likes Keau and has probably liked him for years. But what he started to dislike was facade. Keau just acting so perfect & put together; so very fake.

I wish I could find the novel in English.

I also agree that arranged marriages should not all be looked at as something that is outdated and wrong.

Many people prefer that their parents or families arrange their marriage.

I don't think they forced them to get engaged. Although when the marriage was 1st mentioned they were too young. But they were both older when they were officially engaged and so it was their own decision.

Also the family doesn't seem as if they would have disowned or became angry if they did not.

At the funeral I believe Keau mother asked Lian Kilen if he was still okay with the marriage and he said he was.

Each week I always seem to shed a few tears and grin from happiness.
Our Beloved Summer will definitely be one of my all times favourite.

All I need from tomorrows episode is a long distance relationships if Choi Woong is going to study abroad.

I'm on episode 5 & I truly do not like him. From the time he took credit for destroying the book I was vexed & that shady meeting he had with the old man.

Yep, I was just thinking these two acting as male characters was phenomenal. My number 1 & 2 also.

I wish we could see the Li Qian and Dong Dong using a whip more often. It's just so bad*ss.

I wasn't planning to watch this drama until it finished, but lawd tictok videos just sucked me in.
Excited for tomorrow episode.

Finally a good Historical Korean drama to keep me company.

Some people just like to argue. I don't even try to have certain conversation.

Because they ask for you to respect their opinion but do not respect yours.
