Just finished this drama for the second time. I feel the same way as the first time. Excellent drama. I do wish they had added one more episode which would have made the ending perfect! I rated this 9 out of 10.
Just watched for the second time. Excellent top rated drama! Watched probably 5 to 7 years ago and it is still just as amazing as it was then. Truly a must-watch. I rated it 10 out of 10. Would give it more if possible. The perfect drama with the perfect ending.
I am just starting episode four, and while I really like the actors in this drama (Encounter), I am not feeling the connection. He is just a little too young and his constant overly big grins just don’t fit with a “mature” image to be with an older woman. And she definitely does not have a playful young persona. The music is nice and the cinematography, but the “real” romance is just not happening for me. Partly because it is sooo slow but also there is something else missing. I’ll keep watching for awhile (was since the ratings are so high) to see if it gets any better. The plot is there, but i am seriously not connecting to the emotion.
This is a really good drama that will evoke every emotion from you. The female lead was perfect, but somehow I felt that the crown prince did not quite fit the role, although his acting was good but just not quite believable at times. Since this is a tragedy, I was concerned about how it would end after so many episodes, but it was better than I expected. I definitely recommend watching this drama. I gave it a rating of 9.5 and will probably watch it again.

I love Asian dramas—especially historical dramas. While Scarlet Heart Ryeo (Korean version) was okay, my heart belongs to the original, Chinese version (Scarlet Heart/Bu Bu Jing Xin) that I saw first. The storylines are somewhat similar, but there really is no comparison. The cinematography is breathtaking, the actors and plot intriguing—it is one of those dramas I will never forget. (Although the sequel was somehow a complete letdown so I can’t recommend the sequel but part one is a must-watch. —I would Love to see a quality re-make of part two if anyone would dare to make it!)
This was a cute comedy with melodrama. I enjoyed it although I wasn't sure what to think about the ending. It was good but questionable (one question)? It's worth watching for a good laugh with a little suspense.
The cinematography is so beautiful. Anybody able to offer recommendations for similarly beautifully and creatively…
I highly recommend watching “Bu Bu Jing Xin” (the original “Scarlet Heart”—Chinese version.) Part 1 is amazing. A must-watch! Beautiful cinematography and music. (There is a part 2, but I have no idea how they messed that one up so badly.) But Part one is worth watching all by itself!!
took a long time but i finally got around and finished this. there were so many stories that intertwian with each…
I’m not sure if it was so rushed at the end, but just setting up everything for the sequel to follow—except that there hasn’t been anything yet. Please, please make this sequel if at all possible. It is one of the best dramas so far! Thank you.
Has anyone heard anything about season 2 of “Tribes and Empires?” Also for “Princess Agents?” There must be someone who is representing/promoting these dramas. It would be really nice if they could give any kind of information whatsoever regarding the sequels. I have now watched “Tribes and Empires“ for the third time. It’s pretty amazing—as good as “Game of Thrones.” The only thing is that They made more than one sequel for that one. I would love to see the same thing for “Tribes and Empires“ and also “Princess Agents.”
It looks like there are so many good dramas to watch with Shawn Wei. I am currently watching "Goodbye My Princess." It is very good and I am interested in seeing him in other dramas--I just hope I can find them! Great work!
I am really liking Peng Xiao Ran in "Goodbye My Princess." When this drama is completed I will definitely watch some of her other dramas. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Love your acting! Can’t wait to see you in more dramas. You have so many listed for this year. Please be careful not to burn yourself out. Take care of you first. xo
I decided that I need to leave one more comment... Usually I complain a lot about watching dramas on Viki.com because they continuously flash on screen too many advertisements throughout the drama about their voluntary subtitlers. It would be okay at the end, but it is very distracting continuously in the middle of the drama! I feel a bit guilty because I really do appreciate the dedicated work of the translating team while I also feel that it is somewhat shameful of the company that these people are not being paid while the company is making money from their efforts...enough said! *** I just want to point out that at the end of the series, “Ashes of Love,” if you continue watching the credits, you will notice that the lyrics to the song change. The words become personal comments by the subtitle team and they are very clever—Great job to everyone and thanks for your hard work!
I dropped this drama twice in the beginning but came back to it because of all the high ratings. I'm glad I kept trying because it just got better and better all the way to the end. It started out really silly and became much more serious and interesting. I think that I will re-watch from the beginning--I'm sure I will have a much different perspective now. It's a must-watch. Really good story and acting.
