On We Are All Trying Here Apr 18, 2026
OMG that summary preview MDL writeup and this page writeup just do not convey anything about this drama!!!! I wasnt even going to watch based on the writeup and only when someone said the script writer wrote My Mister (one of my favs ever) I decided to try this. OMG!!!! this is amazing!!!!

ML is actually a creative genius, a true movie art lover, and an open thinker.... and his classmates are so ... commercial and shallow. But they are trying... in a way they know... they are not happy bc they are not honest and genuinely creative... And ML is trying in his own little way, i.e. not really trying, he is not disciplined to channel his gifts, so he is stuck. But he got that awe in the field of flowers and joy catching the leaf etc! Underneath his depression is LIFE, AND JOY. He is absolutely delightful!!!! that field of flowers is really his inner life underneath all that depression and suffering. Nice legs too :) But he gotta stop running away... he gotta experience his life and give it his best, and he gotta sit down and write, no more being a lazy coward. S I T D O W N and write. Every day. That young woman might get hurt bc he is so ... cadet in outer space, but ... she is also right, he needs to relate to people and experience his feelings and himself and then move onto expressing it for real in his life.

ML is endearing cute!!! He is so fun! but a man-child still. Things that he was telling to someone in the first scenes blew my mind, the guy is really smart, deep, and observant, but then what he said at the movie dinner was soooo ... crude. I really hope he hatches soon bc he is super gifted and super fun. I am really looking forward to his movies as emotional massage.

The drama amazes me with the filming, it is soooo well filmed, and the script is tight, and the acting is yes creative. Even the stuck up commercial crew is very honest in being themselves :)

There is so much humor in this drama and so much light, as well as heavy issues of ML's mental and financial state. He is depressed - yes - but he is so alive, that field of flowers is there - so yes wonderul things will bloom. That lady already fell in love with him - bc he is really GENUINE, genuinely creative and fun, and yes has that field of flowers as his real self and she is already starting to enjoy it. She must be the same Kind since she Recognized him and diagnosed him so well. The lady is impressive. But..... he gotta grow up first :)

Great acting, really.
Twinkling Watermellon dad never ceases to amaze me, how the same faces can be the loving Trinking Watermellon as well as Hello Monster or this commercial BussinessOwner lmao

I am just blabbing here bc I am really happy to watch this. I am geting that field of flowers emotional massage feeling from this drama and I feel happy. I am happy to see such a creative drama. It is really a nice gift. I am smiling :) Looking forward to the next episode. What a treat. Yay! Thank you God - and this entire drama production - for dropping real stuff onto this dry scorched Earth.

It’s so draining…. Gosh I don’t think I can handle it in the upcoming episodes.
Wow I was left with the feeling of the field of flowers, and smiling :)

If it was anywhere between 7.5-8 I would have ignored the ratings and watched it. But the 7.2 is raising my suspicions.…
This aint drama about young pretty and rich. :)
No, it is not bad at all.... I think this is a unique drama and really interesting. I think it is a masterpiece. But then you got Perfect Crown, Practical Guide to Love, Phantom Lawyer, the Pursuit o Jade, etc and so much audience is into fluff like that :)

This one is watching an ordinary good honest person fight to stay alive, then get some riches and go off handle
and the lessons are profound - the butterfly effect in action i.e karma 101

easy going drama so far !!! ... 14 ep and it feels like 5 ep ....
It is somehow ... shallow? I do not feel connected to it. Lots of scenes passing by like watching scenery out of a train/car/bus, just passing by, not experiencing it. I dont like watching FL bc the role is dumb and the actress is somehow... not there..... , and I dislike watching ML bc he cannot act, it is all pretending, and he looks so sickly and tired
I dont really remember anyone from that drama. I actually like watching the stiff Lady Secretary and her slightly chubby but very handsome and healthy energetic Young Master - but otjerwise he is a jerk so I dislike watching him.

But in First Man, I remember JM/SR and BH bc actors are very genuine, solid on the screen, natural and energetic in their roles, there is a warm healthy vibe around them.

if you are watching the latest episodes, are you less interested or ore interested in the series
less, bc Chloe made that stupid decision so the drama is now entirely based on suicidal actions, hurting each other, and suffering, so it feels like watching a war or experiencing a severe constipation problem Kardashians-like situation

NEEDLESS drama is too much, NEEDLESS pain is too much. I dont want to watch pain and suffering without anythng positive pulling forward

but hey someone got it to get to 7.2.
ANd I am starting to fast forward and skip watching

Who is the dad of HY's miscarried baby? That baby was miscarried while HY was spying on pregnant SK - and I think that is Lapdog's baby but I do not remember now why I concluded that back then.
Someone else said the miscarried baby is Chairman's son - what is the evidence for that?

JH's dad is a mystery to even Lapdog - is it also Lapdog's and he didnt know?

you might also like kdrama Heesu from Class 2, has similar "true love" approach
Hm I am curious why you didnt like Heesu? It is relatively similar to this one bc it shows the emotional rather than physical side of love, straight friends, etc.
Well it is a high school drama so the characters are not so aware and outspoken like in Cherry

Or - you dont like kdramas in general?

This is so ... well... I dont know how to say it - so revealing of Chinese culture, this very strong belief that this is real. And in fact... it is :)

The filming and topic totally reminds me of Stephen Chow movies, such as Kung Fu Hustle and its dark poor and/or underground hoods. And It has this wickedly twisted dark humor, such as Third Crown Prince looking like a hippie-biker with a lollypop...

The movie has all this glitz special effects
but the value of the movie is the very rare but powerful dialogue, such as Buffy's dying message towards the end of ep 8, starting at min 31.

She asked him to love the world for her, whether it is messy and even the gods cannot do anything about it.
She said: "I think that the ones who might really change the world for the better are just ordinary people like us. "

She asked him to wish for world peace. Bc -
An old man told her once:

magic cannot defeat spiritual power,
spiritual power cannot defeat karma,
and karma cannot defeat a wish.
So a person with a wish is strongest of all.

So actually the drama should be rated 10 for the messages
I gave it 8 bc of all the frills :) I watched ep 1,2 and then fast forwarded through all the special effects etc
and watched ep 8

Buffy Chen is an amazing actress, really.
ML actor is ... meh...

Super cute, realistic, and very funny story of true love. A true rom-com.
>>>> I recommend this drama to anyone - straight or not, young or old, first timers or married for 100 yrs. <<<<<

The drama shows what true love looks like, acts like and thinks like...... It is true love between two very kind nice people.

It is filmed in a really fun and creative way too. The music is fantastic. Camera is so creative. That scene when the water bottle drops from Kurosawa's hand, outside of the restaurant...
SUCH REAL DETAILS, filmed and acted so well, it is so endearing and so funny too

This is a rare jdrama that has good acting :)
The script is great. This is a story of true love as it is in real life, to normal nice people. It is sexy in good taste, it is caring without soapy, it is very very very GENUINE and realistic and HEALTHY. It does not have false prudishness like most straight kdramas have, and it does not have overdone lewdness and twisted sexuality - esp. associating s.x with violence and games - like so many BL dramas have.

This drama is a super cute story of true love. So different than most BL dramas which honestly are too lewd or playing games. This drama too has a very common plot of a convinced gay male who runs into a closeted gay male and kinda shocks him and cajoles him into it, however, it lacks the sexualization and predatory feeling that so many BL dramas have.

This drama is UNIVERSAL, you could play it with straight or any other ppl too.
Kurosaw is so sensitive, caring, attentive, honest, and gentle yet sexy, he is a true love that anyone - straight or gay - could only dream about, as ppl like this are very rare.
The same for Achi, he is so honest, self aware, brave in stating his feelings, and extremely caring and kind too. The two have found each other, the cats of the same kind :) kind honest ppl.

Also, I was thinking, the only way to produce such a great Japanese male lover, so sophisticated, sensitive, caring, considerate, gentle, hot like Kurosawa was to make him gay. If Kurosawa was into women, he might have not been this caring all the time bc it is just not how you treat women in a sexist society.... most likely, it would have been a lot harder to keep the equality between the lovers. Sad but true :)
Also, I was thinking, the only way to produce such a brave shy person like Achi in Japan was to make him gay. If he were a woman, he would probably suffer from inferiority and self repression to some degree. He is free to be brave and to express bc he is male, that is my educated guess.

But - the love between them is portrayed in UNIVERSAL way - love between two PEOPLE. Straight relationships could benefit from this story so much.

The plot is actually a mimic on the common straight plot from kdramas - a popular charmer suave guy falls in love with a clumzy insecure not-popular shy loser chick who is KIND good person. In the straight context, this plot is super sexist. The female is the dumb one and the male is the smart one who runs her life bc she is so incompetent she cannot survive on her own. Such dramas glorify the man as the "higher" one.

In this gay drama, the main protagonist is an insecrure clumzy unpopular shy target of love.
But this drama is a twist on that, and how it is done is so ... well done. The drama does not put anyone down, nor does it make the "more suave" person more "interesting" or "higher" in status. The suave guy who is pursuing him is popular yet genuinely kind, decent, honest person. And the shy guy is not dumb or ignorantly unaware... The shy guy is smart, observant, self reflective, and proactive.
Truely they are equals.

As for acting, Kurosawa is perfect. That actor might be gay or bi in real life. Achi actor is .. hm.. sometimes it is obvious he is pretending. Is the actor a straight person in real life? he was acting scenes with a woman a lot more naturally.

I would encourage everyone to read the review that is on the top o MDL reviews, by TangYang. It says it all :) I just filled in some holes.

This drama reminds me of BL kdrama Heesu from Class 2 which talks about two gay male high schoolers in love and one of them getting out of the closet. Heesu drama also has positive female models and female friends and straight friends and does not portray life as "planet inhabited by gay males" as most BL dramas do. Hessu drama is balanced, just like this drama.

Boring as hell, this is the equivalent of elevator music for BL. I was OK until they got together but damn nothing…
yeah that's why only BL watch BL... bc it is too ... hyper and over the top
This drama on the other hand is universally applicable to ALL
