I persevered and made it to the end. I think the viewers should be compensated to make it through these 100 plus episodes. They always start off with a unique storyline and you are lured to watch more and more episodes with cliffhangers. Then around episode 50 or more you feel the drag, the repetitions of dialogue, the illogical scenarios. It would be better to break these storylines into different production projects than hyperextend to the point of ridiculous or absurd. In the end I didn't like any of the characters -- felt like PSY - two faced all of them.

Love this actress- waiting for her return to acting. Sorely missed. Congratulations on the birth of your twins. Harder to be a career woman and mom at the same time but hope she is up to the challenge.

In the beginning of my K drama addiction, I found find it hard to drop a drama after investing more than 6 hours in it. I would drop a drama after about 2 episodes or even one episode only if no redeeming qualities or poor acting or repetitive storyline. I have learned to let a drama air to its completion and read reviews. If good comments I will add them to my watchlist and defer watching current airing dramas. My problem is the 60 and 100 plus episodes. Some of them are awful but you put in so much time watching you feel like an ass drawn to water that you must drink. I lose interest but continue to the boring end -- and just give a bad rating if I remember. Your article is good because it gives standards for dropping. I am going to write them down as an "addicts guide" so I move on to quality versus quantity. In the past two years I have been heavily drawn to Chinese (especially historical or period dramas) and Japanese dramas because there are fewer episodes (can marathon in a day). Thanks for the article.

Title Sweet Enemy
Story writers are challenged to maintain viewer interest over long episodic periods. One family of villains vs other families of good but sometimes evil people interweaved. The story is addictive if you have time to waste in your life --mindless entertainment for the soap opera crowd. I 'm on episode 99 now and when I look back I realize the writers were good at keeping me hooked from day to day with good cliffhangers. Will hang in there to the predictable end.

the drama was okay - gave it a low rating because it repeated too many storylines and seemed unable to move forward without taking two steps backwards. Really did not like the lead actress who was too reactionary and over attendant to everyone except herself - unnecessary self sacrifice syndrome.

Really enjoyed. Wrote a review - I only ask viewers to read the history of the period and you will get a greater appreciation of this drama --- I am still upset about Princess Agents (rushed ending) - none of that here - therefore I feel every hour was worthwhile watching. A story within a story within a story about the early unification of China. You love and hate but you begin to understand -- that is why the last episode and last incidents were so prophetic. It is always about understanding -- the other person's point of view.

Title The King's Woman Spoiler
The drama is finally displaying the ruthless nature of the 1st emperor of China. It is impossible to continue this drama as only a lovey-dovey romance when history is on the side of him being pure coldblooded. I always remember we started this drama with him killing his young half brothers.

Very different, very engaging, great editing, and the story is mesmerizing. Really enjoy each week, watching to see if the director, writer, and editor can really sustain this intense of a drama week after week. So far very successful and unique story.

Very bad ending - and the movie really didn't have a story to tell. without character development. No feelings or emotions could be shared with this waste of film.

I just decided to add to my list and I'm reading some of the comments. On episode 38 and this drama drags for me. I am trying to finish because there is always a problem when you invest so much upfront time watching these dramas -- you feel compelled to finish as opposed to dropping. I am struggling and I see from other comments I should have done my research first. My complaint -- choppy and illogical scenes and story lines..

This is my favorite drama right now -- I watch about 10 per week. The fight scenes and romantic tension is excellently portrayed. The acting is good and because I love history I have been introduced to a very important era in Chinese history. After researching most of the characters I am addicted -- there is a high level of historical accuracy (except G Li - who appears to be introduced to soften the emperor's image). Scenery and props are outstanding. Dialogue flows smoothly. Typical conflicts of the harem are there but even this familiar theme is not boring. When you read how history portrays the characters you will understand the director's and writer's perspective in maintain historical accuracy and not just a fantasy for the viewers. I was so upset after watching 7 days a Queen because it was all fantasy with no disclaimers. This drama is sticking to history as close as it can and I appreciate it more and more each episode. I am enjoying each and every episode.

Lots of issues in this movie. Social injustices, bullying, rape, abuse, privilege, inadequate police protection and consequences are all adequately explored in this short film Even though this is a movie about teenagers it is not something I would recommend for early age teen viewers.Very adult like themes. At the end, you are left wondering what the back story was for the disabled man and his daughter.

I really really liked this drama. I almost didn't watch this due to some of the reviews, but I am glad I…
Debated whether to watch but after reading your comment decide to make it my weekend marathon drama. This drama was everything you said and more. A good portrayal of job searching for young people and the inner workings of companies, how new recruits are treated, how women are treated in the work force and office romance (very limited). Different drama with lots of light moments. the actors were good in their roles and it was enjoyable. A watch if you watch a lot of dramas - but if you have limited watch time - you can take a pass.

OMG I just found out that Nam js hyun is only 21 :O here I was thinking that she was at least 28 cause of maturity…
Playing that role at the age of 21 was amazing. Her immaturity probably helped the comedic side of this drama. An older woman linked to a "pure Adonis" would have probably made this a "mature" drama [which was not the intent]. That why Healer and Empress Ki had that "feel."

I get it when people say they didn't like the drama of course everyone has their own opinion and tastes everyone…
100% agreement with your assessment. The quality of actors and actresses often transcends the story being told. For 20 episodes the writers seem to live by the push pull rule. As a viewer I enjoy progression of relationships as opposed to the up and downs with twists and turns. The chemistry was good so there was no need to slow down the story - which causes the lower ratings. I watched every episode with 12 hours of release -- it was a good drama and your analysis hits the bulls eye.

Too late reading your review-- a complete bust for me -- just too predictable to the point I wanted the main female actor to just go away. Acting was bad - the story was bad and could never overcome its own fatal flaws. You should die when you should die and you should use common sense in common sense scenes -- these were my main complaints. Suffered through all episodes and now I'm angry with myself for not just dropping -- or more importantly reading your comments in adance.
