Just friendship, they just work together to protect their country. It's a Chinese show so it can't be BL. The title refers more to love for their country and them being willing to die to protect it. The friendship bond they share is for the sake of their country.
Ah sorry the dailymotion link I had 5 months ago when I watched it doesn't work anymore T__T I watched it raw though, I don't think it ever got fansubbed since its only 1 episode.
Good list! I like friendship dramas as well. I can recommend '' Love is More Than a Word'', it's similar to Untamed with friendship but more historical.
I thought this drama had reached its last episode with 10. I was wrong XD For all the people who have also been watching this show while its airing. I respect that; it takes some strenght at times. Although yes it definitely has an entertaining side to it in the pure chaos or the beautiful pictures of Thai tourist locations. I am also confused about the Nite-situation right now and am hoping for answers.
This is the first BL I ever watched, and I binged it at one go. Even though I have gay friends & I am open minded,…
Oh good to hear this was your first BL! Welcome to the world of BL! This type of BL story is still fairly new and like Hikari said, the most related one in Japan (Also TvTokyo) is Kinou Nani Tabeta. With Ossans Love being more distantly related to this jdrama through influence.
Now since this BL can be considered a type of pure love story I will give recommendations for possible directions you can take from here. It will be outside of Japan but might be interesting to explore regardless. You may know some of this already though!
China: Alright so China doesn't allow BL production but the closest thing to it are its BL-inspired bromance dramas. These are stories that focus on two male leads growing close but never actually follow through officially (read the novel for that). Very popular examples of this are The Untamed and Word of Honor. While they don't allow kisses, they do allow a ton of flirting. You'll find your way around if you start from there but be warned that these stories are long.
Korea: So Korea recently has started short productions of BLs. These BLs will often be less physical as romance kdramas in general are known for being like that. They will often focus on looking each other in the eyes and usually have one or only a few kisses in the story. Good examples are Where your eyes linger and You make me dance.
You can try Thailand and Taiwan if you want try a BL that shows more physical scenes or typical BL tropes. If you do, I recommend for Taiwan ''We Best Love: No. 1 For You (2021)''. For Thailand there's ''A Tale of Thousand Stars'' which is good.
Gave it the 3 episode test and dropped it like a hot potato, Spent most of the viewing time reading these comments…
I looked at your watchlist and it seems to be all Thai BLs. Different countries (Korea,Japan ect..) have different ways of making BL and exploring them can teach you what your watch-preferences are. Now you know Japan likely isn't your country for watching BL.
Personally I watched this show because its a warmhearted story. It showed characters with immense compassion and showed the main character gaining the courage to reach out to others. The show also has details in it that casual viewers don't pick up on immediately, making the world feel interesting and the characters real. It's not just watched for a lovestory but also for the warmth it gave with its wholesome characters in the cold wintermonths of 2020. If that's not what you're looking for then this drama will have nothing for you.
I would recommend you Taiwanese BL (like We Best Love: No1 for you) as they are more similar to what you are used to from Thai BLs.
I just hope we're not being teased with a well-put trailer. I'm worried whether they really had the courage to…
Yeah just give me a smart evil character and make it an interesting game of chase and hiding between the good guys and him. I hope it's not a ruse as well.
I actually got a bit emotional at episode 8 during one scene. Its easy to grow attached to this family with realistic faults who try to make things work in the end. Have been really enjoying this drama
I knew they were portraying Jung Ba Reum as way too innocent to be true. Like multiple times they brought up him saving that bird and he was always overly friendly. That would be fine if he wasn't involved in the cases this much. He always had that cheery and naive look but had some sudden insights sometimes. He had a reason to keep up that innocent look and it beautifully paid off. I was glad with the reveal at episode 4.
At some point I was actually worried they weren't going to make Jung Ba Reum evil as it just felt like the right thing for the drama to do to add more mystery. Now lets see how far he can take this.
Alright that was quite an emotional rollercoaster for the guitar guy in episode 5. Also loved seeing happy Kobayashi in the flashback, the guy needs more happy moments. So finally Amamiya (Machida) is set to have his emotional story in episode 6! The ''last customer''? Its all so omnious! They could just buy new cans right?
I watched it raw though, I don't think it ever got fansubbed since its only 1 episode.
