If your first instinct is to be protective of that sort of behaviour just cause the guy has good looks then you need to check your priorities in life. He made life horrible for others for years. I'm sure he can handle the image loss that comes with being a public figure with a dark past.

For shows like this we usually just call them bromance. You won't find actual evidence of a relationship in the show but the guys will be really close and have a few cute moments together. The original novel the show is based on is BL.

I have learned to appreciate all bromance main leads for their own special type of chemistry. I'm highly enjoying seeing new types of personalities and while I love Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian I think these guys are extremely loveable too. Like you said, this drama will reach a ton of popularity. I haven't read the novel so I will wait till the ending to see if its better storywise. I will admit though, the CGI has been better LMAO shoutout to that CGI water-beast from Untamed.

Literally every Chinese drama undergoes this process. So there really is no need to single out this one. If you've seen any Chinese drama you've technically been ''supporting'' it. This is the closest you will get to something which can be seen as more than just male friendship in current China, so yes I will still watch it.

Usually dramas that show ''too much'' can undergo a cut of scenes or the drama is put on permanent hold. This is because of media regulations that mainland China upholds regarding topics such as timetravel, reincarnation and other stuff.
I will remind people of the 2016 BL-purge that happened in China. One BL webdrama caused the permanent change of regulations regarding tv topics, its remaining episodes never aired. All dramas since that time have had to uphold stricter regulations. This is where we entered the age of bromance dramas (Guardian, Untamed) and our current time.
However, just because a drama is termed bromance and thus officially seen as friendship it does not mean its riskfree. Yes this drama passed the initial inspection phase but at any time it could still be cut or put on permanent hold.
Joking about the ''lessened censorship'' is also not really a good idea if you have any idea about how much power is being held over the release of these dramas. If you love the show, hope that we reach the final episode. Shows with low amounts of attention can get away with a lot but popularity causes unwanted attention too.
I think people should be careful not to comment on social media too much about it having flirting scenes, BL stuff…
I literally have so much anxiety for this show. I truly hope they manage to make it to the last episode. They luckily release fast but I can only hope its fast enough before the popularity gets negative attention.
