That’s really interesting. Admittedly I haven’t watched that many modern Chinese dramas, and most of the ones I have I’ve rated lower or dropped. The moral of the ones I’ve seen is cute girl falls for cuter guy that is emotionally unavailable (usually richer and smarter) but falls for her without changing a lot.

Great article! I added Splash to my PTW list. Like you I enjoyed the character growth, 180 degrees worth in Falling for Innocence. :)

@XingBack regarding your first comment in this thread—That would have been a better drama. I’m really struggling with the whole Hwi story.

I started Chromite because of Lee Jung Jae but it wasn’t very good. Skimmed about later when I saw WDH was supposed to have a bit part but didn’t see him. I’m sure he’s in there but I never made it to the end.

I dub thee MDL’s #1WDH fan and producer and keeper of amazing screenshots. And as of today the #1Recorder of WDH history. :)

Beautiful article! You really nailed what I love about this show. I agree, this story keeps getting better and better. One thing that I loved and laughed at is how a character basically told Young Shik to not be a SML.

I call that person the Netflix Phantom. He or she has been adding Netflix for the Network for a lot of Chinese dramas, not just this one. Very frustrating.

Sweet. Free of angst. Entertaining with a cute couple. But I am ready for Xing Zhao Lin to don a wig and strap on a sword and do another historical or fantasy drama. Not sure how many of them will be made though with all the new restrictions.
