I enjoyed this drama but started disliking it closer to the end. For me it doesn’t make sense how He Tian Xing…
He Tian Xing is not Si Tu Ao Ran...in the last episode he even explained to her that she met the version of himself that he despised the most. Also in the other world at one point (I can't remember which episode) they sort of make you aware that He Tian Xing might have become Si Tu Ao Ran if he did not have to be so guarded and so careful like he did in the real world. In the novel, he never had to contend with all the dark family stuff that he did in the real world and he was obviously more relaxed and cheerful.
Lemme start by saying...THE SEX SCENE! If you don't watch it for any other reason...watch it for that. It was one of the best...if not THE best sex scene I've seen in an Asian drama...lol I was so happily shocked by it...my mouth was opened the entire scene (I watched this sceneit 3 times lol).
Be warned the Second Lead Syndrome is strong in this one. I never get SLS. I could tell you one other drama I had it (Prince of Lan Ling) and that was only because the ML was an asshole..but this one both Main Male Lead and Second Male Lead are amazing, attractive guys...Honestly...I was rooting for both of them cause it was so hard to choose.
Also the good thing about this drama...both worlds are equally interesting. I found myself invested in what was happening in both worlds. The depressing and sad stuff in one world is perfectly balanced by the happy and fluffy stuff in the other world. It worked so well together.
The ending was amazing. Finally an Asian drama without a stupid redemption arch for the villains or the ML giving up everything in the end for "peace" or "love".
Finally...Guys I had no expectations when I first started this and I deliberately did not read the comments because I wanted to give it a fair chance and I am so happy I did...My heart is full. This is one of the best rom coms I have ever seen. The amount of hits they take at the "rich man poor girl" troupe is hilarious. If you're an avid watcher of that genre you'll find yourself dying from laughter each episode. To end this..Just watch it...it surpassed expectations and is really good!!!
I love this drama and would definitely recommend it. I would rate it among my top 5 college/university dramas.
One note...The main FL is scarily thin. I know Asian actresses are usually quite thin but this actress was distressingly thin..A lot of the time I was worried somebody would grab her too hard and accidentally hurt her.
Tried watching this but the Male Lead Character was supposed to be super attractive and extremely handsome but imo he was not...I could not get with it. That was one of the main reasons I was turned off from this drama because I could not get behind the premise of the ML being so attractive when he clearly wasn't.
If there's one thing I hate in Asian dramas its villain redemption arcs. That aside the drama was really good, just filled with lightness and fluffiness. I loved it. Somebody was complaining about the FL's acting but I thought she played the role quite well.
I would recommend this if you're interested in watching and came to the comments looking for confirmation.
Not into cdramas bcz they r cute n childish but this one seems to be a little mature. Going to give it a try.…

Eternal Love
Yanxi Palace
Girl from Nowhere
Mars (Taiwanese)
The eternal love

A lot of these are historical if you're not into that.... I'd still recommend you giving them a try lol...because I thought I wasnt into them until I was.
OK. I finally had the chance to watch this... and halfway through. Sure the CGI is pretty bad which makes watching…
lol the weird thing is...even with all the bad things you stated. I understand what you meant. People on here have a tendency to exaggerate alot sometimes.
Let me first start off by saying I binged this in 2 days. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen. I even found the politics interesting (which is rare for me). It was a good drama and I definitely recommend.
Now for those of you who are uncertain about whether to watch this because of the comments that speak to how evil the ML is and how badly he treated the FL. I would highly recommend you still watch it. The main reason I held off on watching this for so long was due to how many people commented on how bad the ML was and how he used the FL for the entirety of the drama and what not...That just sounded super sad and not like something i'd want to watch. Howeverrr after watch the drama I can confirm the ML is indeed trash, but those comments that made it seem like her entire life was just pitiful and sad and depressing as a result are not entirely accurate. Listen if you watched Ruyi from start to finish this should be cake for you (not in terms of similarity of content but because of how literally depressing Ruyi was).
- I really liked the female lead even though some moments I was frustrated with her actions sometimes but I understood that half the time she was not even remotely aware of half the stuff that was happening. It wasn't until the last few episodes I truly became annoyed with her. Her thoughtlessness and selfishness in how she handled the situation with Gu Jian (thousand arrows reference) made me so upset.
-All the Males in this drama are trash...all the females were the real rockstars and heroes
SPOILER BELOW
-A'Du suffered the most having to deal with the burden of remembering on her own. She literally had no one she could confide in or cry to. Atleast Xiao Fend had the luxury of forgetting.
The ML was hands down the worse thing about the drama for me. I rarely have second lead syndrome....as a matter of fact, I have never had second lead syndrome but I disliked the ML so much that in contrast, the second ML was perfect. He was honestly everything the ML should have been to the FL.
The last few episodes are so bizarre that all I could do was laugh. People who hated a character since episode 1 suddenly in the final episode liked them?? Grudges were buried after a single chat??...there was obviously no consequences for the bad guys. It was super unnerving seeing everything wrapped up so easily.
Honestly half if not all of the FL's problems in her relationship could have been resolved if she had resigned and respected her husband's wishes (which imo were valid given the situation) and kept her distance from a certain someone.
The FL from the first episode to the last suffered from what I like to call 'bleeding heart syndrome' no one was beyond redemption or saving to her *cue eye roll* and she always saw the best in people. As a result of that, she was constantly putting her relationship in jeopardy..it was so annoying. Also given the ML's childhood, his attitude and reaction in certain situations were definitely valid.
One thing I will say about the drama, the beginning was very realistic (something you almost never see in dramas such as these) Would still recommend it. The episodes prior to the last few episodes were good. I don't see myself rewatching this though.
If you skip the scenes with the secondary characters...your watching experience will probably increase by 70%.
Also the only thing that made this drama bearable for me a little was that the ML reminded me so much of Ji Sub whom I love. The female lead was sensible and stood up for herself but it was obviously useless hence the endless crying.
Whoever wrote the ending for this drama will never see the gates of heaven I swear.
I was a bit skeptical about this drama but I still decided to give it shot because I was curious. I'm really glad I did because it turned out to be fairly addictive (binged in 2 days). However, the ending left much to be desired. While watching it I could not believe this was the actual ending....SPOILERS BELOW!
SPOILER ALERT! Why is it in all these romance dramas with fights for the company or cooperation, in the end the male lead decides to give up everything...either for love or to be "actually happy" it grates on my nerves because for 20+ episodes we're seeing this person fight for this company and then in the last 3 episodes just decide that its not worth it....I am sickkkkkkkk of these dramas doing this. Why cant the male lead ever get love and his freaking company. The funny thing is in most of these dramas the ML has the right to the company and some irrelevant party wants ownership and in typical; self-sacrificing fashion they end up giving up the company in the end.
Secondly none of the secondary characters who contributed to the suffering of the main characters in small or big ways faced any repercussions..none at all so that sucked.
All in all I would still recommend but just be prepared to be disappointed with the ending.
Have you tried Oh my emperor or romance of tiger & rose?
