umm, how is rapist successfully uses rape as a seduction technique and gets the girl NOT about evil getting redemption?
You should still put it in the spoiler tag and since you feel so strongly about it comment a general warning in the comments for future watchers (although rape is included in the tags). Its an asshole move to post a spoiler without a warning because you're upset about the ending.
In addition, I said it wasn't a redemption arc because he wasn't "redeemed" he didn't change his ways, there was no big revelation...he was still evil. Usually with redemption arcs the person acknowledges their wrongs and ask for forgiveness and works towards changing for the better while everyone tries to forgive or justify his/her actions. There was none of that here.
It sucks that the writers made her die along side him...it sucks that the writers wrote that she fell in love with him (which btw wasn't one of those suddenly revelations at the end to change him into being good...before he raped her she was already in love with him (which was quite tragic)) but at the end of the day he did die. He did not get the chief priest title. There was no 'he suddenly became good at the end'. They both died...he didn't even end up with her...that wasn't a redemption arc...that was honestly just lazy writing.
Oh my god yall will hate me but it must be said. This drama was doing too much...too much was occurring. At one point I think 10 storylines were all happening simultaneously. I felt like I didn't even get to genuinely appreciate all that the characters were going through because so much was happening at the same time. Like okay he found out _ about the sister but at the same time the sister is going through _ and we also found out that this person is _ like okay I'm angry at the sister but now I'm sympathizing for the sister, okay but now I'm angry FOR the sister like wth...WTH writers...and this was happening with all the characters...each of them had like 3 side stories occuring at the same time...WHY...WHY was that necessary. Anyways I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It was just okay to me.
I dropped it...man i really tried because the premise seemed really interesting but then everything seemed rushed at one point and the FL who was supposed to be extremely smart but was such a dummy (like why do you keep getting drunk and behaving stupid in work settings) even with all of that I would have still tried to make it to the end if we had some sort of skinship...i was honestly surprised when she got pregnant because WHEN...i guess we were suppose to like pick up on very very very SUBTLE clues.
I did like how they showed how hard it was for women in modern organizations to raise families but that was legit all I liked.
Um is there a sad ending? If there is then I cannot watch it. I binged watched too many Cdramas with sad endings…
It has a sad ending but it not an ending that makes you sad if that makes sense. When I got to the ending after so much build up I honestly was like. 'oh.....okay'. So i'd still suggest you watch it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so to Koreans he may seem quite attractive. How about we just look at him…
The premise of the drama is him being one of the most "handsome" guy that you'd rarely come across...that is literally one of our first introduction to his character. So if that isnt telling me to look at his appearance idk what is...and you're right...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and to this beholder he's not attractive. Good for the korean who find him attractive??
Just wanted to ask if this is worth watching? I watched yanxi palace before this and grew interest and curiosity…
Not sure if you watched it yet but ummm noooo...this is nothing like Yanxi Palace while Yanxi Palace had its sad moments but was mostly happy with us seeing the FL outsmart everyone ...Ruyi is practically only sad moments with few happy or good moments sprinkled in between. It's much more intense than Yanxi Palace.
I really enjoyed it but it was a hard watch. The FL is smart ofc but she's not conniving or scheming like Ying Luo. She's classy and reserved. She really tried to stay away from the harem dramas...which made it that more difficult to watch because it seemed as if all the bad things that could happen to her...did. But like I said its a great drama just very intense and sad.
And the emperor is not portrayed as well here in comparison to Yanxi Palace. In this one I hateddddddd Hong Li. He was literally the worse character in this drama.
This was pretty epic guys...The acting, OST, visuals. It was good. I would definitely recommend this one. The fight scenes were really well done.
I am only hurt because now I have to wait until season 2 and only god knows when that will be out. People are also saying Leo won't reprise his role and I really can see anyone else playing Xiao Yan so well so I'm already preparing myself in case for the disappointment,
You don't need to wait on part 2 to watch this one because the cliffhanger is not so huge that you definitely need to wait until part 2. One of the main things that started his journey was completed in this season so that was a plus for me.
Also, all the female actresses were great. I loved all of them so much (except Yanran). They were done so well in my opinion that when one had screentime with the ML you didn't hate them because they were all just so awesome.. I honestly shipped the ML with all of them (except Yanran).
I like this version better than the drama..no unnecessary flashbacks just straight to the point plus Yang Mi's acting was wayyy better than Tiffany Tang
First of all..if manipulation was a person it would be Woon Tak cause what the FUCK. He had me believing his lies when I knew the truth. I don't blame Soon Jin though she was just really naive and didn't know better and to be fair...he had a lie for everythinggg...I was dying with laughter at how convincing this dude was lying....Even after all of that. I was still rooting for his crazy ass like sue me I loved him. I mostly skipped everyone else's storyline just to watch the eldest sister and Wook Tak. I was shipping even when the show ended.
Tiffany Tang's acting in this drama was so bad. She literally had this wooden acting from beginning to end. Janice Wu's acting really outshined her...I get that her personality changed from when she was younger due to everything she went through but damn it was so one-dimensional...even when she was "happy".
Omg...the sex scene! I didn't blink the entire time. And, like you, watched it several times. Wow. Im speechless.…
Girl my mouth was open the entire time...at one point his hand was quite literally on her boobs and I think..no I know that I screamed out loud...I was shooketh. That scene lives rent free in my mind everyday.
I watched it for the same reason..I love them in 'The Eternal Love'. Howeverrr, this one is really bad sis...I…
The fist half was actually not bad...seeing their relationship grow and her relationship with his family (btw the aunt and son arent evil in this version and that was one of the best things about this version tbh because in this one the aunt is very likeable) it only gets bad a few episodes leading up to the "accident" (since you watched the Thai version you should know what i mean) and after the accident it gets worse but the first half is good and will satisfy your need to see their cute moments.
