At first glance, Tempest delivers everything one expects from a high‑budget political thriller: a gripping story, two charismatic leads, and a production that brings cinematic quality to the small screen. Jun Ji‑hyun as former diplomat Seo Mun‑ju and Gang Dong‑won as the enigmatic mercenary Paik San‑ho carry the narrative with a presence that works both in action and in silence. Direction and cinematography rely on clear, elegant images that convey tension and atmosphere in equal measure.The series scores with a genre mix of political drama, action, and character study. Particularly striking are the variation on the bodyguard motif, the international dimension, and the women at the head of politics—not as decorative figures, but as strategic actors. Seo Mun‑ju embodies a form of strength that is quiet yet unshakable. Paik San‑ho, meanwhile, breaks the macho mold: respectful, restrained, emotionally intelligent.
Tempest tells of Korea’s desire for security autonomy—and of the bitter realization that such independence is hardly attainable within the current geopolitical order. It shows how deeply international power interests penetrate national politics, and how self‑determination shatters against invisible dependencies.
BUT:
A finely tuned orchestra that began with complex tones was, in the second half, drowned out by an unmotivated, deafening rock band. The carefully developed threads were not woven together but torn apart in a “very American‑like,” loud and metallic, black‑and‑white blockbuster finale.
What remains is the impression of a missed opportunity. A KDrama that began politically sharp and atmospherically rich collapses into the banal. WHY?
A pity for the outstanding cast, who deserved more.

This Drama Gave Nothing New… and Still Kinda Ate
This one lands right in the middle for me. Not the kind of show that leaves you speechless, but definitely not something I’d call boring either. It’s solid, the kind of drama that doesn’t wow you with big twists or surprises but still keeps you watching all the way through.At first glance, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a revenge drama. The female lead loses everything in an over-the-top conspiracy, disappears, and returns with a plan to take down those who wronged her. You’ve seen this setup before, probably more than once. And this show doesn’t pretend to be different. It embraces the formula completely. That might be a turn-off if you’re tired of the genre’s repetitive structure, but if you’re someone who enjoys these stories even when they’re predictable, like me, then this one is worth checking out.
What really helped my experience was keeping expectations low. I’ve seen flashier revenge dramas with bigger budgets that ended up being directionless messes. This one, though more modest, knew what it wanted to be. The plot follows a straightforward path, with no major surprises, but what stands out is the female lead. From the start, she’s clear about what she wants and never wavers. She doesn’t get emotional to the point of being reckless, and she doesn’t let anyone, not even the male lead, distract her. There’s never a moment where she reverts back to being helpless or confused. Her clarity and focus carry the whole story.
One of the most refreshing elements was the relationship between the leads. I’ll admit I had a bit of bias going in, expecting the usual love-hate chaos, especially since the male lead is from the rival family. But to my surprise, their dynamic was calm and surprisingly grounded. No forced angst, no dramatic blowups just for the sake of tension. Their connection builds gradually and feels natural within the context of the story. Even though the plot isn’t offering anything new, the chemistry between them gives the drama a lot of heart and kept me invested when the rest felt familiar.
As for the male lead himself, I liked how he was written. Yes, it’s a little odd at first when you realize he’s falling for the woman who used to be his dead brother’s wife, but the show doesn’t dwell on that awkwardness. Their past connection feels more like a detail than a major plot point, which makes it easier to move on from. What really works is how he supports her without trying to control the narrative. He helps when she needs it but never tries to take over her mission or become the savior. That balance makes their relationship feel respectful, and honestly, it’s a dynamic I wish we saw more often in this genre.
Where the drama falls short, though, is with the villains. Don’t get me wrong, they do enough to keep the revenge plot moving, and their actions are definitely evil. But they never feel truly menacing. There’s no standout antagonist who makes your skin crawl or really pushes the lead to her limits. They’re just... there. Functional, but forgettable. Luckily, what the story lacks in villain energy, it makes up for with strong visuals. The cast looks incredible from start to finish. Styling, outfits, presence — all very much on point. Even when the tension dips, it still feels fun to watch because of how well everything is presented.
So, would I recommend it? If you're looking for something fresh or unforgettable, this probably won’t hit the mark. But if you're in the mood for a straightforward revenge story with a strong female lead and a well-balanced romance, it’s surprisingly satisfying. It doesn’t waste your time, it doesn’t go off track, and it delivers what it promises. Familiar, yes, but sometimes that’s exactly what works.
[Also, credit where it’s due: Fifty percent of why I kept watching was Wu Jun Ting’s voice. I could listen to him talk all day. Completely hypnotic!]

Great beginning...... That's it
I must be one of the rare few who thinks it was a hot mess. The series started perfect, I enjoyed the first 2-4 episodes, they did suck me in and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. But after the 4th episode it just.... declined. The concept of this drama was a hook for me, I was so interested in how they would expose the bl industry for the awfulness that it is, and don't get me wrong they did definitely do some exposing but after a while, it just felt... flat for better worlds.The series dragged in some places and was just.... boring in other places. The series wasn't dialogue-heavy either which of course you would think means it was action (gestures and whatnot) heavy, but it wasn't. I think if they introduced just a tad bit more dialogue it would have helped a little bit more. I truly do not think the director knew what they were undertaking and felt overwhelmed.... which sadly means it translates into the drama with how lacking it was after a while.
The ending for this drama..... Let's just say it could be a lot better. The fairytale gag in the ending was cute do not get me wrong, but I felt like that just... ruined the whole ending for me. I would rather enjoy that as a bonus scene in the ending, which would have been super cute. The ending was lackluster and needlessly portrayed. During it, I found myself just looking at my phone because I was so BORED. So... the ending was not it and was total crap.. CUTE, but crap... Lol
Now let us get into the acting. The acting was...... well... How do I say this..... good but not great? I'll be totally honest, the best acting in this series was the villain of the whole thing Aey. Bruces acting for that character was top-notch, of course, I hated the character but I cannot deny it was the most talented acting in this drama. The other actors of course are good at acting, but it just felt like the director wasn't.... directing and the actors were just trying to make the best of the situation, so of course, their acting fell through at times. There are quite of few moments where acting was lackluster and it made the scene boring or just dulling at moments. Now like I said, that's not because the actors can't act, but because it just felt like even the director didn't know what they wanted. So acting is good, but not the best.
Overall, the first half of the series is really good, the second half is boring, dull, and lackluster.
So do I recommend this BL? Yes, I do. Everyone should watch it at least once because it does highlight some very important issues in the BL industry and the drama is good for the most part. So yes, watch it! Just be warned of the dullness after a while lol.

The game of light, colours, and nature was just brilliant, with a nostalgic note, beautiful sceneries from Norway, and melodic pieces of classical music and piano to paint the perfect picture of an idyllic and tranquil picture. The pace of the drama was equally perfect for the cinematography, as it was calm, with nice notes of drama here and there.
The performances were excellent from all the actors and actresses in the cast as well.
However, the story was messy and confusing. The script offered little to non information about the cryptic gadget that used a person's voice and character to communicate with the loved ones once that person has passed away. The characters were equally mysterious as well, with some background stories coming through from the flashbacks that the drama offered, but, overall, it was difficult to understand them, know them, and, thus, sympathize with them. The message that, I guess, the drama wanted to pass on, that there is some comfort after a loved one dies, was beautiful. However, the romance was boring, as the characters seemed wrapped up in their past and didn't really invest in the relationship.
So, overall, five out of ten.

The story was slow paced & really boring. It did progress, but it progressed quite slowly which was a drop for me. There wasn't even much of a story. I usually do love music genre dramas but this one didn't intrigue or interest me in any way which was disappointing. I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't find myself to sadly.
Acting/Cast
As many know, Joy is from Red Velvet and this was her first drama. I didn't really have any high expectations because I do know some Kpop idols aren't really experienced in acting. Joy, however, was quite decent in her role. I don't get the hate that was being thrown at her for her "rubbish" acting - It wasn't that bad. Lee Hyun Woo was also adorable in his role. The problem was the chemistry between both of them. I didn't find the bond exciting or anything, it was merely boring and unrealistic.
Music
The OSTs for this drama are really sweet to listen to. I just finished the drama & I will definitely download them. I guess for me, this was the only good thing about the drama itself.

I hardly rewatch dramas unless they were exceptionally excellent. So in this case, I definitely won't.
Overall
If you are struggling whether to watch this drama or not, I'll say give 1 or 2 episodes a try. If you don't like it, I suggest dropping it because it doesn't get better. But if you do like it, keep going! Don't let my review discourage some of you because everyone has different tastes :) Hope my quick review helped! x

Three genres are featured prominently in this drama: action, drama, romance. None were explored to their full potential. Plus, where the cliches of one genre were challenged, they ran amok in others.
The action scenes were well choreographed and exciting to watch, but were often pulled up short and were too far in between to have full effect. Just when my adrenaline started to flow and I'm about ready to forgive less involving aspects of the show, they were over.
Which brings me to the weakest, but most prominent, link ... the drama. I spent a good portion of this show, from ca ep 6 to at least the 3rd quarter of ep 14, being bored. These episodes were mostly dedicated to the back story of the parents, for which I never developed an interest. I never became invested in any of these characters enough to care about their story. I cared about the characters in the present and wanted more of the focus on their individual & common journeys, independent of what happened to their parents in the past. There's a reason why they urge you to keep flashbacks as a driver of story to a bare minimum in screenwriting 101. Flashbacks are intrusive and passive, and should only be used as a function of character (for eg, recalling a memory), not story. An entire story hinged on flashback yanks us out of the present action and keeps the plot from moving forward, which is exactly what happened in Healer (and many other K-dramas. Why some Korean writers can't seem to grasp this very basic rule of screenwriting, I don't know.).
What's more, characters were inexplicably killed off or shipped off when they no longer suited the writer's purpose. This was glaringly obvious. There was no cohesion in how one plot line flowed into the other. Just '(s)he is getting in the way of where I want to take this story so bang! you're dead!' When the sex scandal case concluded, I was like 'Wait, what just happened? That's it?!!' And have you ever noticed how women in K-dramas are *never* killed off? No matter who they are or what situation they find themselves in. Oh, the men are fair game, but the women always manage to escape with their lives. ::eyeroll:: ... because this is such a cliche of the genre.
Finally the romance, it was nice. I agree with other viewers who commended the absence of the usual unpalatable cliches as well as the relatively good characterisations. I really applaud this evolution the romance genre seems to be having in recent K-dramas. They're finally starting to acknowledge their characters as sexual beings, rather than strip them bare of human desire. My only complaint? People will make bold statements ... about kissing, holding one another, making love and what have you, but words aren't followed up enough with actions. It's all just big talk. There's still that air of fakeness and lack of emotional depth in romantic relations. That lack of natural, comfortable, spontaneous intimacy (one drama which came close to what I'm looking for is It's Okay, That's Love). Oh there were some fine moments, by all means, but they often felt ... stilted. Staged. Contrived. Awkward. And even if this were only a minor complaint (it's not, not for me), the romance itself took off too late, almost in the last quarter of the drama, and stayed around for exactly two episodes and change, before focus was returned to less involving narrative arcs. Romance has always been a 'back-up' genre for me. When all else fails, it tends to keep me going, until hopefully things pick up again in other departments. That didn't happen here. Basically, every aspect of the drama that could've and should've kept my interest, short-circuited. There's no doubt the romance was cute, there's no doubt the characters had chemistry, but it wasn't executed to satisfaction.
A more worthy drama to me is Nine, in which the same combination of genres were better executed. I can't remember being bored watching Nine. I was on full alert, wondering what would happen next, how will the characters react? The plot wasn't without its holes, but the pacing maintained its momentum almost from beginning to end. The romance was evenly spread, so that when it wasn't being featured I didn't miss it, but just when you started to crave it, it appeared. I was able to enjoy Nine in spite of its faults whilst Healer became untenable because of them.
In closing, I would be remiss not to mention the 'villains' (with the exception of Secretary Oh). I've never seen a more pathetic lot. All these imbeciles knew to do was snare. Imagine a whole barrage of goons not able to break down a door being blocked by one man ... and other absurdities. In terms of moronic villains, Healer could be Cruel City's cousin, the drama in which a pair of slight 100 lbs women in 6 inch heels, who couldn't fight, outran & outfought seasoned criminals. To say these bumbling idiots were cartoonish would be an understatement. And as per usual dramas give the South Korean police a very bad name. If I were a police officer watching this show I would be offended. Neither one nor the other presented any real threat or challenge to the good guys, which only served to discredit whatever battles they won against the Farmer and his farmhands. It's really hard to suspend belief when they make it sooo easy for the good guys to win.
By the time Healer drew to a close I didn't even care that the ending was rushed, because the show had already gone downhill for me long before that.
There were things I DID like: the score and the soundtrack. The characters and the acting. Yoo Ji Tæ can do no wrong for me, an incredibly charismatic actor. I didn't think Park Min Young was that bad. Ji Chang Wook is one to watch. And I liked the mild-mannered, unassuming, but creepy Secretary Oh. That little smirk of his, with his hand raised to his mouth. It was a nice flair. I appreciate these little quirks and habits that make a character stand out. And it was rather effective too. I wouldn't want to be trapped alone in a room with that guy. So kudos to the actor.
While I liked these things, if sloppy storytelling keeps pulling me out of the narrative and have me asking too many questions, instead of sucking me in with the action and the drama and the romance, then something is wrong. Healer, in some ways, is quite different from the average K-drama, but in other ways it's all pretty much the same.

An okay drama that could've been better
My first impression of "Love in the Big City" wasn't entirely favorable (the drama was too depressing for me to handle); however, I was impressed by the cast's performances. One standout was Nam Yoon Su. He took a courageous stand against the homophobic attitudes that plague society by playing a non-straight role and partaking in same-sex intimacy without any reservation. Each kiss, each moment of physical closeness, was an act of trust, a man's willingness to open himself up to another man. The directors' attention to detail and depth was evident in every frame, and it was impossible not to be moved by the beauty of itYoon Su deserves the utmost praise for bringing warmth and sincerity to his scenes. He held nothing back, conveying raw passion and vulnerability in equal measure. His performance left a lasting impression on me, one that was haunting and memorable
Having paid due attention to the positives, I'll analyze the elements that require improvement, as "Love in the Big City," even with its noble efforts to redefine "queer" storytelling, remains short of fulfilling its promise. Among its flaws, none are as detestable as the violation of a gay male space (a gay club) by a "straight" identifying woman (31:07 of episode 1). The sanctity of a gay male space is not to be disturbed, it's a space for men of like mind and heart to be unabashed in their same-sex desires, away from the harsh gaze of the heteronormative society. Entering a single-sex space with the intention of pursuing someone of the opposite sex to carry back to one’s bed reveals a lack of understanding of, and respect for, the space's true purpose
What was that sudden, unceremonious reference to HIV? HIV isn't a gay disease and a character's (homo)sexuality doesn't warrant the inclusion of HIV in a storyline. The doctor's assumption that the main character's HIV was sexually transmitted is inconsistent with his assertion that the chances of transmitting HIV through sex are low (39:50 of episode 5). The main character's life was unaffected by the disease, and there was no reason why he should be among the rare cases of sexual transmission. HIV is being used for dramatic effect
The narrative device of "straight" identifying female characters befriending gay male characters and becoming the medium through which gay stories are told is tiresome and troubling. Why a "straight" identifying woman, and not a gay woman, a fellow member of the community who shares the same struggles and experiences of discrimination? Can't a gay woman and a gay man get along and be depicted as friends for once?
The conclusion of the story was an anticlimactic question mark, tinged with the bitterness of an uncertain future. Sad or open endings are a trademark of most "queer" stories, and their writers seem to have a vendetta against gay happiness. Time and again, the main character experienced the crushing revelation that the men he believed to be his perfect match were either prejudiced against his (homo)sexuality or not a good fit. It pained me to see him isolated and dejected. I find greater comfort in happy BLs/gay stories that celebrate the joy of the romantic fulfillment and validation denied to gay couples. They surpass their sad or open-ended "queer" counterparts
The depiction of a gay person's life prevents me from rating "Love in the Big City" too low. I've decided on a score of 8 that acknowledges the value and the flaws of the story

On a more positive note, the performances were good and the bookish refrences nicely done. The side characters' stories were interesting as well. So, 6 out of 10, because I loved the first part, but the second one was boring.

Okay...I guess?
Okay, here`s the thing:This was just a mess from a writing standpoint and there`s no two ways around it.We don`t have to find something realistic in order to connect with it and find it interesting. However, in my case, it should be consistent and this drama`s execution is lacking, when compared to the synopsis. And it`s not due to the lack of trying. It just feels mechanic. The girl finds herself in an absurd new world, has trouble dealing with it, a handsome savior appears, they fall in love, chaos ensues. Nope, it's not another Disney movie, it`s a supposedly gritty and ill-fated romance of two people found on opposite sides. But I just couldn`t get into it.
First the acting. This is Hyun Bin`s best acting role to this date, easily. His character is also the most likeable, albeit seen before and the chemistry between his unit is great as well. Honestly, I would`ve been fine watching their perspective of this unfolding, it would make for an interesting change. Seo Dan`s story is also mad intriguing and deserves its own show. Son Ye-jin however... I don`t know. I`ve watched her in this and in Personal Taste and I guess her acting style is just not doing it for me. In that way she reminds me of Lee Min-ho, though I did like his newest project. Se-ri is just an unfinished character. It`s like the writers wanted her to be strong and bitchy, but also a damsel in distress so from the get go, we see her be cunning and calculated, but then at the same time, she makes stupid mistakes a character with her capacity shouldn't. And through it all, it just doesn`t feel believable to me and that does fall on acting. And people will probably judge hard but here it goes: I see no chemistry between Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. None. Zilch. They effectively feel like a brother sister duo to me, if anything. Also, and I cannot go without mentioning this but: CLICHÉS!CLICHÉS LEFT AND RIGHT!YOU GET A CLICHÉ, YOU GET A CLICHÉ, EVERYONE GETS CLICHÉS!
I have a bone to pick with the way they used these clichés, rather than them being used at all. Again with the we`ve met before. Only this time we`ve met so many times, that it`s just crazy how we haven't recognised each other already. Again with someone being shot and almost dying. Only this time, it was done twice. Again with, OH LOOK WE`RE IN A BAD SITUATION. Should we solve it and think, as we`ve been established as smart characters?Nope, let`s kiss instead. Look, my main issue is that if you have such an impressive concept and such a cast on board with it, you better use it to your best advantage. And they haven`t really. If I was to interchange North Korea with any other severe world where individualism is not accepted, it wouldn`t make a difference basically. And that`s a problem. There was potential in this:That scene when the main leads had to separate finally made me feel something. But it came too late.
And then, THE COP OUT ENDING. Maybe I misunderstood something but this just may be one of the worst endings to a drama I have ever seen. If I`ve got my facts right, Ri Jung Hyuk was accepted as a pianist in Switzerland and his position was given to Pyo Chi-soo. Meaning that he can stay in Switzerland?And Se-ri, who now has no reason to hesitate decides to stay in Seoul instead of moving in with him and they settle on 2 week-are writers on opiates? What even?I can`t even hide how much I hate the ending and I don`t even like this drama a lot.
Anyway, sometimes you should trust the percentages and sometimes...just don`t.

FL ruins EVERYTHING
I watched up until Ep2 then dropped the show , the FL completely ruined the experience for me , the way she gets in between their friendship which was the highlight of the show.like come on she was no needed , like I physically can't stand her charater at all
so after the friendship was ruined by her I dropped the show and could no longer continue watching...

It was worth to watch.
I think this drama is worth to watch. I instantly got super into this drama since the trailer came out. Definitely a hands up especially to the characters. I just hope that the release of episodes are early and consecutive...Bai Lu suits the female lead really well. Her voice is natural as well as Dylan's. Her natural beauty and elegance are on point based on the description from the novel. I understand that since the story is also modern, the flow is kinda slow and careful.

Not extraordinary but it's interesting.
I really enjoyed this one. It was a wholesome movie with both emotional and hilarious scenes together and it was a good blend of it. It's definitely different cause it first Korean production related to space. As its name suggests it's the story of space sweepers who do the cleaning of space debris in the year 2092. We all have wide imagination of how our future will be and actually they did a good job cause it seems like future.As I said the story isn't extraordinary but it's entertaining. It does have many plot holes and answered questions in the last but we cannot expect to show it all in the duration of 2 hours. The actors did a good job in acting I guess the cast was good for their roles. I would really like to appreciate Park Ye Rin she's such a cute girl and did a great job portraying Dorothy.
The best part is its graphics and cinematography it's the real strength of this. The beautiful scenery and realistic graphics are really great.
Overall I really enjoyed it, don't expect too much from it but still, it's worth watching so give it one chance if you really love sci-fi and space you won't regret it watching.

On my rating scale, this means « just boring ». When I started it, I had high expectations. The setting was interesting, this was supposed to be a cohabitation drama with a sort of forbidden love we're not used to see. There was even another interesting twist with a lot of potential to bring in some action, the male mc background. Yet, they managed to make it all sooo pointless.
Romance & comedy
I never watched a drama with so little chemistry between the leads. I don't even think it's the actors fault. How can there be nearly no skinship in a cohabitation drama? Just erase the kiss scene and they could have been real step-father and daughter for all I care! All they talked about was how to keep their land and make dumplings. There was nearly no tension between them, you can only expect some cutesy if you like it.
Highlight on the second male lead
On the other side, Lee Soo Hyuk's story was much more interesting. I actually enjoyed his scenes with Shin Se Hwi, his sister in the drama, more than the two leads together. He was a breath of fresh air. At least, I had fun watching him and he's probably the only reason why I managed to finish this drama. (That and because I watched it while it was airing.) On a side note, red really suits this actor. One more thing, if you don't like love triangles, this drama might still please you. Hong Na Ri never gives lawyer Kwon Deok Bong a real chance, neither does Go Nan Gil with anyone.
Background story
This is hard to describe without giving some spoilers, but I'll try. Let's just say that Go Nan Gil past is sure to bring some troubles, dangerous troubles. With that, you can expect him to save the damsel in distress while fighting in front of her, right? Don't. He does fight from time to time and, just because he's good at fighting, everyone seems afraid of him. But come on! His opponents could just try to kill him, it's not like they actually care about life. They could also try to hurt Hong Na Ri, but they don't think of it. With that, another potential interesting story just fell flat.
Music
That's one of the few things I liked. It was fresh, light-hearted and put me in a good mood.

Most of these "all-10s" reviews are clearly written by fans of the main couple. Do me a favor and go to their profiles. Their accounts are only created to hype up the drama. Unless you're one of them, you're likely to end up disappointed by this much-anticipated series. I'm just a regular BL watcher, always on the lookout for a good story, regardless of who's starring in it, so my review is unbiased.I do appreciate the production value, the sets, and the effort to make everything look visually grand. However, sometimes it feels overly controlled and artificial. For example, the club scene, the protest scene, and the market scene all came off as staged rather than organic or lively.
The actors are almost always dressed impeccably, but it often feels like they're just reciting lines rather than truly acting. I'm not saying they’re bad actors, but the script is poorly written and gives them little room to showcase their talents. There was one scene where NuNew had to cry after his adopted father died, and that was genuinely moving. On the other hand, Zee’s character supposedly has childhood trauma related to rain, but that emotion never really came through in his performance.
The rest of the time, it felt like the actors were just wearing expensive outfits, delivering stiff lines, and doing forced NC scenes, simply because that's what the majority of fans want to see.
Overall, this was a poorly written drama with a massive budget for set design and wardrobe, but very little depth. The actors delivered their lines with maybe 25% of the emotional weight they could have, and the result is a series that looks good on the surface but lacks real substance.

I liked it until it lost me
TRIGGER WARNINGS of this series: Infertility issues, illness, death.Comedy is on the thinner side and there is also melodrama.
Looking at the ratings of this drama I feel like I watched a different one than everyone else.
I really wanted to like this series because the premise and the start had potential and there are things I liked in the portrayal of flawed characters that don't do the best of things, but sadly this just progressively lost me as episodes went on and things started to annoy me.
Overall my main two issues here are:
The execution of the plot is a mess at times, it wants to do too many things at the same time but none are necessarily solved or are just there for the pure chaos of it, it got kind of boring. I certainly didn't expect to find this show boring considering its length and how much I wanted to like it because the characters are not presented as perfect like in many other dramas. At points I felt kind of disappointed in myself for not finding it engaging enough but I literally fell asleep a few times, and I never fall asleep with series or movies. Funny enough is how I didn't even bother in going back and I don't feel I missed anything even though I missed in total probably about an hour and a half or a bit more of the total series.
Until the later episodes most of it it's just going and coming from places without enough of a substance to me, felt like a lot of padding. They're just looking for the potential father while he's dragging the girl around and the other two are following them, and the scenes with SML's mother and all that I still don't know what they added to the plot.
The second worst thing in this drama is once again the obsession with the bloodline. At points I thought it was presenting different ideas here because of the main characters and the plot in general, only to fall into the same silly ideas with the blood and how once you see your parents "you know" just because and unconditional love and blah blah blah. Equally silly was the expectation that some dude that might be his potential father would care about him just because he gave the sperm once, this is when they were theorising what that potential father might do or not for him as well as potential inheritance. And then only in the end to go back to a father that was a piece of s*** and abandoned him back in the time. "Oh, but he did go to the school though!!" someone might say, yeah, and after he was missing he didn't move a finger to find him, and apparently didn't care about her blood daughter either. I get ML needed the closure so to speak, but he said it more in the line of getting back some kind of relationship with him again, what falls again into this korean idea that parents don't do wrong and that at the end of the day everything needs to be forgiven because they're your parents, blood and "unconditional love" again.
The whole series revolves too much around "daddy issues" and I'm not a fan of this plot device.
I get it wanted to be comedy at some points but at times it was simply bad taste to me, like how FL wanted to take that baby in the beginning or when she takes ML from the hospital towards the end.
I also didn't appreciate much the duality of going from comedy to melodrama from one scene to another. I don't like melodrama in general either but I think that the comedy bits fell even more flat at times when straight before or after everyone was having a melodramatic moment. One second they're crying about something and the next it's like it never happened and everyone is happy to then remember and cry again.
There are quite a few side characters for such a short drama and I don't feel any of them was explored in depth what it would be fine if it wasn't because it feels they wanted me to care more about them than I did. SML is explored more but it could have been better in my opinion, his whole personality is more or less following the girl all around for most of the drama and it's progressed quickly to have his ending as it is.
I liked the ML for the mess he is, but I would have liked a tiny bit of growth, why is everyone still following him around when he's trying so hard to push everyone away? just leave him get lost then. It's funny that of all the things he did that was the worst for me, because as a viewer this dynamic got repetitive. He's a bad person but a good character, but I wish there had been some progression and that we didn't get the same dynamics of him rejecting people to then leave to then the others try and follow him, it got old quickly.
FL was ok for the most part until she started annoying me with her extremely childish tantrums, she spends half the show screaming. So she might be a good character again but in her case I didn't enjoy watching her.
Her side of the story is never explored enough anyway, we're given some pieces but there is never more exploration about it. She didn't even ask the bio mother anything either, she just spent the time screaming once again. We're also not given any other answer or even conclusion to her menopause thing, because it's not a black or white topic that it's how they presented it here, she's told, that's the end apparently. Her character in general revolves too much around ML and she's just a girl with two personality traits.
The ending was expected considering how the show starts and still was a bit anti-climactic in my opinion, even more that credits scene with the car driving, it's that FL with ML's body inside or what? It also felt a bit rushed since we got so many bits of their trip in a few scenes, I really wished this had been a good chunk of the drama instead of the thugs pursuing them in the first half for example.
Overall it's not an awful drama and it can be watched. I wouldn't rewatch it personally and I wouldn't recommend to people that wants happy endings, perfect characters nor to those that might be triggered by some of the topics.
