Tame and Traditional ending

So this was basically the missing ep 8 that the series needed as closure.

We see the couple 2 years later on a trip to Chiang Mai where Lom has a secret plan and everyone is on it but Namnuea. Even the GL couple make an appearance which is nice to see that they're still together after two years.

For those wondering there is no guest appearance from the LITA boys - I know, I was disappointed too. It's also more sweet than hot and heavy. Really out of the honeymoon phase I guess

What is nice is that you see some of the local customs and traditions around Thai ceremonies which isn't seen in other BLs . I still think Marine and Nuea could work on their acting at times but it's better than early on in the series

Would I pay to watch this? No. Is it worth a watch, yes if you are wanting more of the MC. Is there rewatch value? Not really. But, I'm happy we were able to see the ending as often times we don't get to see it.

Enjoy !

Drama is so much fun!!!! I thought it was just a school action, but it is deeper than that. It explained the feelings of teenagers, their psychological struggles, their relationships, and their oscillations. I feel that I came back to see myself when I was young, so I was really affected and really loved it. The drama deserves praise and appreciation.
I think they put in extra effort because it's live action so they really deserve appreciation !

Park Ji Hoon is a good actor. I felt every feeling the character felt, dullness, sadness, depression, and even feelings of warmth in the hospital scene.

Story of Highs and Lows

This is a tough one to grade. There are many things I like about this: morally dark characters, violence, one-take camera shots, no simple solutions—just a progression of things getting worse, and mysterious happenings that the characters or audience are unaware of. What holds me back from a full recommendation is the characterization. The characters are left ambiguous, with most of what they tell each other being lies, so there's no real sense of character, making it hard to get emotionally attached. The writing is also not the best; most of the dialogue feels stilted and not how people would naturally talk to each other—it's just a bunch of yelling and swearing over each other with no proper conversations ever being had. The plot armor for certain characters became laughable, as multiple characters should have died over and over and still made it to the end. At the end of the day, the highs were able to outweigh the lows, and I would watch the second season that has been announced, but it's not something I'm eagerly anticipating

Surprisingly boring...

If you are suffering from sleep issues, this is the best medication that you can get in this world, you are going to sleep deep and soundly as a baby. Believe me.

It's so boring. This series is really overhyped and overrated as hell. The premise is interesting, but the execution and development sucks. It's unnecessarily lengthy and painfully uneventful. The absurd scene repetitions are infuriating and the repetitive "jokes" that lacks any fun are frustrating ?

If you sleep well enough, you can skip this without any regret and you will surely get a better way to waste your time.

My favorite K-Drama of 2022!

Loved this psychological thriller, which is adaptation of the novel/film American Psycho.

It has a nihilistic arthouse vibe that's more common in Japanese cinema/storytelling, but this is a K-Drama so it's got that K-Drama technical polish to it. It goes places that make Squid Game look tame. By far the most raw K-Drama release to date.

Acting, direction, cinematography and production quality are first class.

My favorite K-Drama of 2022 so far as it will stay with you after the credits roll.

Recommended for those with an open mind.

This was so great, I laughed the whole way through.

It was very interesting to see how the format of the show came together and found its identity. The choice of the guests, especially early on, was incredibly ambitious. On the other hand, this would probably not have become the phenomenon it is without that bold move.

And oh my, the hosts have struggled greatly. You root for them almost immediately and you learn a lot along with them. At first, mostly about how to keep yourself alive in an old school cottage and then about the Korean cuisine. There is so much to love here. The way they both struggle with basic meals and constantly call their moms from the landline ("Wait, that sounds complicated, I will give the phone to Taecyeon.") and succeed in producing an enjoyable meal is very sweet.

Both of them are also really handy, worked a lot around the house and the animals. I also enjoyed very much when they had their outings to town and made so many friends at the market and in the hardware store (Dong Shik rules!). Also, Seo Jin's sassy attitude is my favourite thing.

This show was excellently produced, even the episodes where I was not fully familiar with the guests were entertaining and enjoyable. I just loved it.

Things don’t make sense just to cater the plot

Warning ⚠️: Might contain spoilers

Plot: Basically it’s like little mermaid but with past life and sprinkle of murder(which is interesting). However, for theatrics to work, some things don’t make sense. For example, she can’t be rained on or get wet or she’ll turn to be a mermaid, so she doesn’t shower or wash hands(?), she claims she doesn’t have money but she actually received money from Chi Hyun, how can the police not remember her when she didn’t even erase his memories( it’s not like she knows where he lives), the doctor’s role and purpose was questionable as well(even in the joseon period) and that made this drama less convincing despite the fantasy element. Still, it was watchable to the extent that you wanna know how it will end so you binge watch it. If you’re not particular with small stuff then you wouldn’t notice what I mentioned.

Acting: The kid(Yoon Ah) is the cutest. I adore her here. LMH did great, JJH decent acting. Their chemistry wasn’t explosive for me. I was more excited about Hye Sun(Shi Ah) and Won ho(Tae Yo)’s love development. The rest of the characters were good and satisfying.

Music: Not catchy enough, even the songs for the sad scenes.

Rewatch Value: Definitely a ‘no’ for me. Even the kissing scenes of main leads feel forced. I do like some of the bed scenes.

Overall: 5-6 stars for the thrill, animation and acting. Spain looks stunning and they showed that very well in the drama. Legend of the blue sea is not droppable but not excellent either.

A nice continuation of the series. It was short but super sweet. The chemistry between the leads is amazing. Just as good as the rest of the series. Of course, the BEST thing would've been if they made a season two, and there were some characters I missed, like Ha Ni's dad and Joon Gu. Still, I really enjoyed it! ^_^

Surprising and captivating. The most beautiful thing about this drama is that it shows the importance of friends and teaches you that hard work pays off at the end. The acting was exceptional and the drama was hilarious- if I was not laughing by the end of the episode, I would definitely be smiling =) but it also made you cry (can it be more perfect?) You can observe the characters developing and changing for the better. Overall it was perfecto and very realistic. This is a must watch!...and it might seem boring for the first 30 minutes, but stick to it because it will leave you smiling =D

One of the best

As someone who’s watched over 70 bls, this is easily in my top five.
Im so sad this beauty of a show is finished , it took me weeks to finally watch episodes 8-10 and now I feel like a part of me is missing.
This is the kind of show that has strong chemistry by the simplest of things. Whenever they look at each other or glance , you can just feel the fire of their love. It’s one of those shows where it doesn’t feel awkward when they stare at each other, like you’re intruding on a private moment. It’s a show that makes you happy even by the smallest of things, and as cute as that kiss scene was, the show would’ve been perfectly fine without it.

The storyline is so well done and well written. You have this rich boy who likes to party with his friends , and because of a second chance at life, he puts himself in a position totally opposite from his lifestyle. You see the difference from being a upperclassman, to someone who is basically poor. The message of this story basically tells you that you really don’t need money to make you happy. You have one life, so live the way you want. Don’t waste a minute of it and Just do what makes your heart happy.

Earth does such an amazing job playing as Phupha, someone who’s strict but also shows his warmth beneath the suit. His facial expressions and the tone of his voice even , I literally can’t imagine anyone else with that kind of roll. And hello rookie actor Miew. Tian is one of my new bl crushes and I need more of this actor, I’m so surprised that he’s a rookie. His way with the children and those big beautiful eyes when they look at Chief, you just can’t help yourself and just fangirl. When he smiles, you smile. when he cries, you also cry. He’s very good at showing his heart as he acts and Tian had a lot of moments where his heart was shown.
Other actors aside, I love Dr. Nam, Torfun, the kids, but especially Longtae. Longtae didn’t have that second male lead that are often in shows, even tho at one point it seemed like it might’ve been heading there. He played such an amazing best friend to Tian, and helped him whenever he noticed Tian was in trouble . I hope to have a Longtae in my life, what a guy.

OST was a perfect 10/10, I really loved the edition of the wooden flute, everything else along with it was just stunning. I applaud to the musicians who put their hard work into it.

If you’re thinking about watching this, even a little bit , take the chance to watch it. It really opened up an eye for me and I don’t think I’ll take anything for granted again, because most of us don’t get that second chance of life. I pray that they make a Season 2 , but with no intense storyline. I’m happy to watch another 10 episodes of Tian and Phupha being cute, see their daily dating life in the village, and perhaps seeing more of Phuphas personal life. I will most definitely rewatch this in the future, easy easy rewatch value in here. WATCH IT!

The Jokes are Funny, but Not the Best Story

As someone who understands Japanese, I was able to watch this without subtitles. The storyline itself is quite boring and feels like a fanfiction, but comedy is hilarious. That being said, I realized that a lot of the comedy wouldn't be funny to someone who doesn't watch Japanese TV or owarai gags. If you watch it with subs, some of the jokes might not translate well, especially the owarai gags and the special guest comedians. Anyways on to the review.

•❅✧❅✦ STORY •❅✧❅✦

I'll just spoil it because it seems like no one will be subtitling the drama anytime soon.

One day 8 mannequins at Shibuya's PARCO department store are magically brought to life by Maneki Towa. She reveals that she is half-mannequin, half-human. She tells the 8 mannequins that she has brought them back to life to allow one of them to become a human forever, however there is a catch. Only one of them will become human and the others will stay as mannequins forever. There also needs to be a trade off where a human will permanently become a mannequin in their place.

Maneki gives each of the mannequins a name based on their "personalities."
Chui - He's always giving warnings (chui) to others.
Matome - He is constantly trying to round up (matome) the others and situation.
Mukuchi - Not his personality, but Maneki thought he'd be cool if he didn't speak much (mukuchi).
Pocket - He always has his hands in his pockets.
Mysterious - Not his personality, but Maneki thought that he'd be cool if he were mysterious.
Lady - He is the most flamboyant and feminine of all the mannequins.
Necho - Not his personality, but Maneki thought it would be cool if he was macho. However since he's not macho he should be a negative macho (necho).
Tekito - He is not serious and half assed (tekito) with everything.

After giving each of the mannequins a name, Maneki begins to teach them how to become human. She teaches them about various emotions, sometimes inviting guest mannequins over to help in her teaching. While learning how to become human it is revealed that one of the mannequins had been a human in the past. Necho begins to suspect that Matome is the former human because in one of their lessons Matome had given a very realistic example of how a human would react in a certain situation. Matome denies it's saying he made it up based on watching how humans interact at the store. Necho is not convinced. He adds that Matome can play the harmonica, something only human's can do. This leads to Matome bringing up that Maneki told everyone that they all have a human talent. That even Takito can play the guitar. Surprised and wanting to find their own talent, the mannequins try to find their Talent. Chui can do magic, Mysterious can make cocktails, Lady is flexible, Pocket can change his eyelids from a monolid to a double lid, and Pocket can fart. When it's time to find Necho's talent, he can't seem to find it and leaves depressed.

While depressed, Necho is forced to continue to learn to be human with the other mannequins. Maneki invites an old mannequin who is said to bring bad luck to all the stores he's been at to talk to everyone about misfortune and sadness. The old mannequin is bare and naked because whatever clothes is put on the mannequin, the clothes do not sell and the store becomes bankrupt. Necho, Mysterious and the others cheer the old mannequin up and put clothes on him. After he leaves, Mysterious suddenly turns back into a mannequin as a result of the old mannequin's bad luck. They all try to help him turn back into his human form, but they cannot. Maneki explains that even if he is a mannequin, the lessons must go on, so they continue with their lessons. In the lesson, Necho is told to get upset at mannequins, using Mysterious's mannequin as a stand in. Necho yells at Mysterious his dislikes about being a mannequin. After Necho yells, they all can suddenly hear Mysterious's voice. They continue on with the lesson and Necho ends up bringing Mysterious back to life with his passion, which Maneki reveals is his special talent. They all celebrate Mysterious's return until Maneki reveals that tomorrow will be the last day of their lessons. That tomorrow one of them will be a human and the others will be mannequins forever.

Following Maneki's departure, the 8 mannequins reflect on their last day together. Necho wants to be human, but he doesn't want to leave his friendship with the others behind, becoming a human by himself. The others agree until Lady suddenly comes forwards saying he doesn't want to lie. He actually was human in the past and had met Maneki who turned him into a mannequin. Lady revealed that from a young age he knew that he wasn't like other boys; that his romantic feelings were not with woman, but with men. When he tried to act on his true nature, he was met with harsh criticism and hated life, it was at this time that he met Maneki and he willfully became a mannequin.

Necho is shocked until one by one the others became to reveal that they too were human.

Chui was working as a business man. His co-workers were jealous of his success and complained to his boss. After that everything that he did was criticized. He realized it was stupid to try and work hard because only the person who used dirty methods would achieve greatness in life. It was during this time he chose to become a mannequin.

Matome always dreamed of becoming a soccer player. He was so good that all of his schools and town was looking forward to him becoming a professional. During this most important match in the country, he missed the PK shot. After that everyone turned their back on him and hated on him. Giving up on his dreams, he got a normal job. At the job, his brought up his painful past and mocked him for it. He hated that all his years of hard work turned him into a laughing stock, so he chose to become a mannequin.

Pocket was a delinquent all his student years. After graduation he became a construction worker. There he met a nice senpai who told him it was okay to dream about having his own car company. Pocket began to save his money for his dream until his senpai asked for help with some money issues. Pocket loaned him some money and even became a guarantor for a loan. The senpai eventually ran away with the money. Pocket gave up on life and became a manequin.

Mukuchi was never talkative and aways shy. While working as a real-estate agent he couldn't get the results he wanted. His co-workers told him he needed to change his personality if he wants to succeed in life. He couldn't understand why his personality was wrong, so he became a mannequin.

Mysterious was a bartender who was looking to marry his girlfriend. She told him that his love was too heavy for her and she left him. He couldn't move on because he couldn't understand how his love was too heavy, so he chose to become a mannequin.

Tekito's parents placed lots of expectations on him, that he needed to go to an ivy league school to be perfect. When he failed to get into an ivy league university his parents lost interest in him. He didn't know how to live his own life since his parents had always told him how to live life, so he chose to become a mannequin.

After learning the truth, that Necho was the only one born a mannequin, he felt betrayed. He felt hurt and lied to. The others however, are adamant they didn't mean to hurt his feelings. That they only pretended they wanted to return to being human because Necho was very enthusiastic about becoming a human. That while they don't want to be humans again, they want Necho to be happy and live as a human if that's his desire.

Necho is chosen to become human and Maneki chooses to sacrifice her human status to become a mannequin in his place. After becoming a human, Necho choses to work as a security guard at Shibuya PARCO, watching over his mannequin friends.

•❅✧❅✦ ACTING •❅✧❅✦

Honestly it wasn't too bad. The members of Exile Tribe's FANTASTICS are all singers and dancers before they are actors, however, some members have done some acting work while for others it is their first time acting. Usually when the whole idol group makes a movie or drama, usually the acting is terrible, but for FANTASTICS it's not that bad. Not all members are the best at acting, but more screen time is given to the members who can act so it's not that bad at all. The actors of Necho, Tekito, Matome, and Chui are pretty decent.

•❅✧❅✦ COMEDY •❅✧❅✦

The jokes are hilarious, and I heard some of them were improvised on the spot. That being said, if you're not a fan of Japanese comedy and owarai, then some of the gags might not translate well. As a Japanese speaker, the jokes are funny though. Also, this isn't slapstick, so I'm not sure how well the jokes will translate to someone who isn't Japanese.

•❅✧❅✦ OVERALL •❅✧❅✦

It's not a bad watch. If you like the members of FANTASTICS and are looking for something to watch, then I'd watch Mannequin Night Fever. It's a situational comedy with fanfic like plot, so if you're looking for a great drama this isn't it. However, if you like FANTASTICS are looking for something funny to watch with jokes that actually hit the spot, then this is for you.

Only watch it if you are a fan of contract relationships/marriages

Completed - 3/31/2022

Contract Relationships/Marriages is one of my favorite tropes. I was willing to overlook this drama's flaws when I binge-watched 7 episodes in one go. I had a lot of fun, and I laughed and cried with the characters. The next day, my previous enjoyment and passion died down. I became more annoyed in the last 3 episodes of the drama. My initial 8.0 rating on day 1, went down to 7.5 at the end of the drama, and that's mostly because I like contract marriages.

This drama also has one of my least favorite things - misunderstandings between the leads. It was fun and cute for a while, esp. when we have a male lead who is anti-social, introverted, and inexperienced in love. I found his totally adorkable, even though he could be rude. The reason for going into a fake marriage seems interesting (but bizarre) enough for me to continue watching. He's a cute and dorky white asparagus (it must be the asparagus-like hairstyle). But the repeated misunderstandings due to lack of communication or miscommunication just becomes too much. The adorkableness of the male lead also wanes when he still acts so dumb in the last few episodes. No matter how inexperienced he is, he is still a 30-year old guy who is a professional working at an advertising agency. He clearly demonstrates his intelligence at work, but why not in his personal life? I was also annoyed that a lot of time was spent on the unrequited love for his sister-in-law. I understand it's an important plot of the drama, but I feel that it just drags on for too many episodes. But if the drama doesn't focus on the sister-in-law, there isn't enough content to last for all 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, I am not sure I would recommend this drama. If you like contract marriages, then it might be worth a try. Otherwise, don't bother. Oh, the drama does have a cute grumpy cat. ? So, if you are a cat person (which I know many MDL'ers are), it's worth a shot when you have nothing else to watch. LOL.

A very good version of "Boys Over Flowers" !!

So… this is the first time I write a review on MyDramaList !

First of all, I want to say that the only version of Boys Over Flowers that I had previously watched was Hana Yori Dango (Japanese version), which became my favorite drama of all time ! The level of waiting was high, thus.
I must admit that if Bright and Win (I LOVE them) were’nt part of the casting of the Thai version, I probably would never watch this drama. Well, what a good surprise !

First of all, if F4 Thailand takes the key elements of the initial story (school harassment, differences between rich and poor, horrible mom, amnesia, love triangle…), this version is very good for its modernity, the treatment of its characters or even the humanistic plot. For me, it is impossible to compare HYD to F4 Thailand, as each version has its own qualities.
In F4 Thailand, the destiny of Gorya, the heroine, is part of a modern society, where school harassment is amplified by social networks ; where everyone tries to integrate, even if it means denying their own values; where the «Red Card» game is reaching catastrophic proportions… the first episodes are very intense, due to the cruelty and passivity of high school students. Moreover, throughout the drama, the question of class struggle is particularly well conducted, especially the differences in quality of life between rich families (like F4 families) and poor families (like Gorya’s family), the economic crisis affecting the poorer classes in an emerging country where the richest are always getting richer… These aspects have touched me and are, in my opinion, a good element on the drama.

Of course, my favorite point of the drama was the treatment of the characters. Gorya and Thyme are the main couple of the drama, like Makino and Domyoji in Hana Yori Dango, but the other members of the F4 as well as other characters from example, Kaning, Gorya’s best friend) occupy a central place in the plot.

About my favorite characters:

- Thyme (Bright Vachirawit) is definitely my favorite character. If the Thyme of the beginning is horrible, its evolution is still beautiful and interesting to follow ! Under arrogant and disdainful airs, Thyme hides in reality a great sensitivity, a deny to grow up and become an adult and above all a heart capable of loving and be loved. I fell for him and I never doubted neither his love nor his resolutions (especially doing good around him). Bright was the perfect actor to play Thyme : in addition to his physical beauty, Bright managed to transmit to me all the emotions of his character, especially during the most intense scenes.

- Kavin (Win Metawin) was my revelation of the drama ! I wondered what Win would bring to this character who had not really marked me in Japanese version, but here, I was seduced by this character from the first seconds of the drama. I enjoyed each of his appearances very much and I was fascinated by his story, especially after his meeting with Kanning and the development of their relationship, always delicate.

- Gorya (Tu Tontawan) left me a mixed feeling ! If I admired his courage, his strenght, his loyalty, his kindness, I did'nt adhere to all her decisions/actions (in particular, in episode 15, I found her so naive…) which were at the origin of many misfortunes that could have been avoided! Moreover, despite her role as a heroine, it was not her story that captivated me the most (I preferred the sweet Kaning), even if her relationship with Thyme was so beautiful ! It was the first role of Tu Tontawan and I liked her !

- I also liked MJ (Nani Hirunkit) and Ren (Dew Jirawat), the other two F4 members. If MJ is more discreet, he forms a cute bromance with Kavin and is featured in a pleasant sequence to follow (and a nice advertisement for KFC !! ); Ren is a very mysterious character, but his role is primordial in the relationship Thyme/ Gorya!

I also appreciated very much the relations between the F4 members, but also with Gorya and Kaning. This group is endearing and will leave a trace in me for a long time! Among the other characters, Roselyn (Thyme’s mom) is perfectly detestable, but I loved the scene of the last episode in which Gorya managed to break the secret of Roselyn. Mira, Lita, Gorya’s family, Tia and Uncle Ga are also very important characters.
The entire cast is talented and contributes to the quality of the drama.

The production is also very well done, from the magnificent credits to the beauty of the images and the dynamism of the episodes where friendship, love, humor, personal development are always present.

Finally, how can I conclude this review without evoking the wonderful soundtracks of F4 Thailand, especially the songs « Who am I »; « Shooting Stars » and « One Last Cry ».

To conclude, F4 Thailand was a very nice surprise, from its characters to its originality through its omnipresent humor and its perfect cast. I would not hesitate to rewatch him !

Ok... Then... Here we go. I really didn't know what I was expecting when I made the choice to watch this movie. If I have to sum it up to you, I'll said it's probably the most awsome weird movie I've ever seen: "They're perveted aliens from some unknown world..." said one of the character in this movie. He's right.

More seriously (I hope):

One family - full of weirdos you know - no story, but a lot of facts & also a huge quantity of very good replies. Ok, if I give you an example right now, there would be no sense and you wouldn't be laughing at all. The "Why are you a triangle?" thing made me laugh a lot: No sense, right ? Let's continue. In my opinion this movie isn't stupid at all! In the contrary this is only little few things caught in everyday lives you could feel here. That's right, I'm agree with you, those guys are totally crazy, and some scenes let me puzzled whether it be the yakuza-shit or the "Yamayo" song scene for example.

*Silence*

Ok...I already feel your suspicious look, but I assure you my mental health is okay, I swear.
Behind all those absurd glimpses int their lives, there is Life with a big L, there are big questions and a lot of powerful emotions. The big question of consciousness and subconscious appears and disappears like a dream. In few words: this movie is like that, when the end finally comes, you don't really know what you were watching. However, like after a dream, something good reminds here and you laugh about little facts with no reason.

Taste of tea ? Yes you can experience a lot of taste in this film, but at the end, it's still good.

No Doubt, it's ''All time great Military genres Drama''❤❤

about this drama, one word:
masterpiece, great screen plot, intense, character development, coming of age❤❤
Each episode will fascinate you❤❤
....................
Let's talk about Story:
first of all, I want to talk about this screen plot, screenwriter Feng Ji did a great job. In other dramas or military dramas, we can see the only focus on the lead character, but in this drama, they focus on every character and try to show us their story.
Also, I want to thank the director Xu Ji Zhou to gift us with this wonderful drama with his great direction.

Let's talk about acting :

the main lead character is Yan Po Yue as Yang Yang, In my opinion, this is the best drama YY ever cast. I'm really impressed by YY's acting. how dedicated and passionately YY acted in this series. That's really impressive.❤❤
i don't describe YPY;s character. —No NEED❤❤❤

Li Yi Tong as Ai Qian Xue, no doubt did a great job. but in my opinion, I'm a little disappointed As the second lead character Li Yi Tong's screen time was too short.?

Jiang Lu Xia as Guo Xiao Xiao, I do not have enough words how to describe her acting. she is unbelievable and impressive. If this drama has any romance, then I want to ship YPY and GXX.❤❤

Meng A Sai as Xiao Yun Jie is my favorite character in this drama. I can't stop laughing cuz of him. also he is most supportive of YPY. Also loyal friend.❤

Jiang Long as Wu Xiao Tian, if I do not mention this character in my review, my review was incomplete.
our three musketeers ( Yan Po Yue, Xiao Yun Jie, Wu Xiao Tian). this trio whenever they are together will mess up something.
I do remember the drill mission, they messed up??
but sadly Wu Xiao Tian died to save YPY.?

Also Qin Feng as old sly fox ?,Li Xiang as psycho commander?, kitchen leader feng jin❤,Bai Long❤(when he leave, his crying scene, also crying me),Yue Kong❤( sadly he also died?),Cao Ben(great captain, when he put on machine gun in his shoulder,,that scene really fascinating.❤❤ )Lu Tu,❤Leng Jing❤ . they are a great contribution to this drama.?

About ost: it's good. so so. however i love ending ost??

About rewatch : in end every episode,i rewatch atleast two time??
