A work in Art

Wow this drama was really cool, and funny, and totally awesome. For me the two characters that made this drama was Ne & Phueak, these two were amazing evening though phueak didn't get much screen time, as for Ne well she was down right hilarious as always.

So this was a really good series and everything flowed through really well, the main characters were well matched and the chemistry between was on point, the art work thrown in was a good twist and a nice change then the normal BL we get to see. I especially loved the whole animal scenes poko and Stephen then we added the chicken into the mix I am glad they made it to the end of the drama and not end up in a pot (LOL). Our main couple is Maze and Phap. Maze is the president of his company, is a money motivated person, and mainly uses his head to make choices. As his social status suggests, he has an extravagant lifestyle, wearing expensive clothes, living in a luxurious apartment, and driving a costly car. On the other hand, Phap is a carefree artist that specializes to abstract paintings. He is the exact opposite of Maze and uses his heart to make decisions. He is not rich, he believes in himself and his capabilities, and he loves nature and animals. He loves animals so much that he has three animals’ pals, Poco – a lizard, Steven – a cockroach (yeah, you read that correctly), and Teriyaki. They coming together by an accident that Maze was doing is what started this funny series. Then Ne is thrown into the picture, although she doesn't have any significant role, but her comments and attitude is what makes this series so entertaining.

The music was not so great for me, nothing that will make my playlist.

Overall it was a good watch.

It's hard to write a review about this but I feel obliged to because it's such a heartbreaking tragedy and shouldn't be forgotten.

On 16 April 2014 the ferry 'Sewol' sank on it's way to Jeju Island and 304 people (mostly students) died. They were given instructions to stay put and don't move from where they are even when the ship was tilting. The captain who is supposed to leave a sinking ship last and responsible for the safety of passengers left the ferry and was rescued when more than half of the passengers were still on board...

This documentary includes recorded conversations between Coast Guard and President Office for example which sent shivers down my spine. In just 29 minutes this documentary portrays openly what went wrong and let survivors, helpers and victims relatives speak. There's footage from students who were still on the ferry when it already tilts to the side and footage from dash cams in the ferry that show vehicles moving sideways inside the ferry like they weight nothing. This beside the interviews with the civilian divers who searched for bodies and interviews with parents of victims leaves a huge depressing impression. It surely isn't easy to watch for the soft hearted but I prefer the brutal truth over all the lies that were told about this tragedy. Media reported that all passengers were rescued when in truth it was well known that over 290 people were missing. Almost 3 years after the ferry sank they brought it back up and retrieved things such as cell phones and searched for the still missing bodies of 9 people.

2019 had marked the 5th anniversary of this tragedy and this documentary might once again rise awareness with its nomination for the Oscars 2020 and even if it didn't win the award I like the symbolism. I recommend this to everyone who is interested in background information about this tragedy and its aftermath.

The documentary was posted on Youtube by 'The New Yorker' under the title "What Went Wrong in the South Korean Ferry Disaster? | The New Yorker". I'll post the link in the comments.

Talk about just four little episodes making a very special and powerful drama! As the first collaboration between Japan/Korea, it was very well done. Very well done. I fell in love with both characters of Ji Hoon and Tomoko. Admittedly, this was not my first experience with the lead actress, Fukada Kyoko. She has a way of embodying her character so fully that you can't help but love her. And Woo Bin?!! Finally a drama of his that I could totally love!! His character Ji Hoon was so sweet and kind. Even the brief misunderstandings and interferences were tolerable but then that's the difference between watching JDrama and KDrama, these periods are not drawn out for a ridiculous amount of time. I have to say the chemistry between these two was electric!! And guess what I learned watching this? Lee Dong Gun can SING!!

Oh My.. Why Ichihara Hayato can be so funny in this drama???

I give a try to watch it because I know the manga before this drama, I didn't expect much but trust me, I FALL FOR THIS DRAMA! this drama became my number one favorite drama <3

The story was so hillarious, with a litle mature content in it, I guess under 17 need some guide. The storyline is awesome, the cast are good, Don't compare the drama with the manga, because in the drama you will get what you didn't get in manga and so otherwise, I love the way Saru speaking, the accent was so cool. his face when he unlocked some lock is cool. They did a great job to cast Ichihara Hayato as Saru.

It's worth to try to watch, I rewatched 3 times already and I guess I will do more!

I watched this special earlier this year (it seems like it’s been a decade, with all that’s going on) and I thought I wouldn’t write a review, but after watching other things after, I came back to it, watched it again and I feel like it deserves some love.

This special has all the feel-good energy of the drama, which I consider as heartwarming as the meals they prepare in it. If you liked the food, the feels and the domestic fluff of the series, this has all of it.

Storytelling-wise, it doesn’t add anything too crucial (aside from Miyazawa Rie making an appearance as the famous Mitsuya Mami), but it does develop interesting elements upon what the show discussed. There’s more about Shiro’s feelings towards his relationship with Kenji, about their plans of growing old together, and details about his relationship with his mom, past and present. This drama has never shied away from difficult subjects while remaining positive, and the special is no exception. A specific scene with Shiro’s mother got me feeling all sorts of emotions.

The special is divided into three mini arcs, the first and last centered in Shiro and Kenji, whereas the middle one is centered in Kohinata and Wataru, which I could have lived without, but I think it’s amenable enough, all things considered.

All in all, it’s an extension of the series that delves into some of the aspects outlined there but doesn’t add anything too major. Still, this is such a feel-good series, I come back to it when I need some pick-me up energy, and this is a good way to come back. The food is still amazing, by the way.

Apparently, there will be a movie, so maybe this special was meant to tie the two. In any case, it’s as enjoyable as the series, so if you liked it, I’d give the special a go.

Almost perfect, but no

Papa and Daddy was a short, LGBTQ+ series about two gay men with a son conceived through surrogacy. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

THE STORY. This is a story that needs to be told, and the writers did a great job with this one.

ACTING. No complaints!

REAL LIFE SITUATIONS. I liked the pride parade, the circle of supportive gay friends, the hiding, the coming out... all realistic issues for gay couples with children.

CONS

SLOW PACING. Some of the scenes were a bit draggy and boring.

THE ENDING, THE ENDING, THE ENDING. It's a stupid idea for any series to end a season with a cliffhanger, but especially for a BL/LGBTQ+ series, as Season 2 often has a way of not happening. Turns out Damian has a teenage son and Jerry is just finding out. And the producers have announced that Season 2 will likely not be happening. SHAME ON THEM.

It's the reason my score is as low as it is. Even if they do have a Season 2, ending with a cliffhanger isn't cool. Cliffhangers suck.

What would have been 9.0 from me is now 7.0.

The Drama offers purely entertaining story that tells the ups and downs of five friends in search for the Right One. Had I known it earlier, I would have probably finished it watching by 2019. Regardless, my faith in Thai drama has been restored thanks to Wake Up Ladies the series. If you are finding a series that will make you laugh out loud, don't hesitate yourself to give it a shot. Season 2 is coming out in 2020. I am certainly looking forward to it. Hopefully, those five actors are still retained and few improvements in cinematography and acting can provide the viewers with new ambiance of the series.

from the beginning i already like the cinematography and the setting. it wasn't anything fancy, but good enough. also, the fighting scenes were nicely done too

the poster making it look like harem. but the romance wasn't shown much.

the pacing were a bit too fast. which resulted in poor character development, plot holes, and makes it a bit difficult for me to keep up. but when i finished the whole movie, it's all connected.

I'm not familiar with any of the actors, but they portray their roles nicely

if you want to watch it, don't think too much and just go with the flow

Don’t do it. Messed up ending.

This was definitely heartbreaking but the writers turned it into something more. The took a characters heartbreak and turned it into selfishness on another level.

Please don’t read below if you don’t want the spoiler. It’s definitely a summary of he tragic events. ?.

A couple (not close at all) loses their soon due to an accident (he left the house at night looking for them). The wife blames the spouse and mistress because she went to find them, therefore she wasn’t at home (like babysitters don’t exist).

In summary; child is hit by a car while outside at night, in the rain looking for his mom, who just so happen to be going to confront her husband who she already knew was cheating, really no shocker., the person that caused it didn’t see him, didn’t realize. The driver and mom falls in love and get married then the case is solved. Stepdad who by the way is amazing, loving, patient and loyal is revealed to had been the driver. Sadly he wasn’t even aware that it happened. But no forgives or mercy granted. She doesn’t forgive him, he goes to jail and she just so happens to keep his son forever. Clearly she never loved the man. I can imagine the kid growing up and finding his dad or asking this woman questions. The lies will create a sequel.

Totally depressing.

Interesting, took a weird turn though

This is somewhere in between acceptable Drama and very good college production. I have absolutely no idea what the budget on this was, or how the shooting/producing conditions in general were. I imagine it must have been quite a low budget production though, judging from the dubs being off a lot of the time, sound quality etc. So I won’t weigh those aspects to heavy into my review.

I am deducting most of my points for how this was directed I guess? I am not bothered by quality, the main problem is how some of the scenes played out and were shot. (Hence the higher rating on all of the separate categories but lower general rating)

The main actors where quite alright portraying their roles, I can’t really complain about their acting, their chemistry wasn’t really all that strong, it was fine for the Drama though. All in all especially the side character’s acting (or maybe it was some of their lines/scenes) gave off quite the Theater-acting-vibe instead of a TV production. That kind of gave the series a little more charm too though.

It started out quite entertaining, a light hearted, fun, office romance with two sympathetic characters. The storyline isn’t anything new, that’s absolutely fine with me though. The plot/series itself didn’t seem to take itself too seriously which made it entertaining to watch. However, at some point in the middle as the relationship progressed they seemed to try and take the whole thing a little more serious, which lead to some (to me) uncomfortably “dramatic/ trying too hard to be serious” scenes.

I think if they’d kept the lightheartedness they started out with for the rest of the Drama, even keeping all the scenes they had/ the story line as it was, just without trying to make it too serious, it could have been a lot better than it turned out to be. I did however, surprisingly, very much like the ending.

All in all this is certainly not a masterpiece, nor a must watch, if you however, see yourself with too much time at your hands, and are looking for something that may make you laugh for a bit, do give it a go.

Heart wrenchingly beautiful

As a lover of angst, this drama fullfilled that well. It had my heart aching almost every episode. It took me through a rollercoaster of emotions, tearing up and angry at times. The soundtrack was beautifully done as well. The acting of course was amazing, regardless of language barrier issues; I felt the connection between Peach and Yoon Oh intensely, as well as with Yoon Oh's mom. Jimmy and Tommy did a great job in their roles and i'm proud of them. Choi Jae-hyun definitely got my attention as Yoon Oh, enough to want to check out his other works. I don't give it a full 10 because Mario's storyline felt a bit incomplete to me, I needed to see more punishment for the person responsible for what happen to Yoon Oh and wish there was a bit more to the end like a flashforward but other than that I loved it.

Started with a bang, ended with a fizzle, as they say...

It's 25 episodes long, but so much happened in the first few episodes. It started really well but seemed like they were blowing through the plot too fast. Everything in the plot summary seemed to happen in the first 5 or so episodes, and the series kind of fell apart.
~SPOILERS~
The whole taste exchange thing didn't make much sense because they never really investigated or explained it. Maybe I wasn't paying much attention to it, but I didn't understand why it was his taste. Was it just because he was her first kiss? Because he had perfect taste? Not sure. I chalked it up to "drama logic" and ignored it.
The murder plot was just too random and boring for me to care much about it. I knew the "villain" the first time he met the FL because he was acting too suspicious. No wonder he got caught. The last five episodes were murder-plot-heavy and just bogged down the whole series.

The reason I gave this such a high rating was because of the acting and the romance part of the drama. The acting was nice and the leads had enough chemistry to make an unbelievable plot slightly more believable.

One of the best kdrama I have watched in a while

I usually don’t like cute kdramas, but this one I loved. For once I actually finished the whole series. I really recommend this series to everyone. I think most people would like it.

What made this kdrama better is the perfect choice of actors. Everyone was perfect for their role. The casting is 10/10

The topics they bring up are refreshing to see in a kdrama. How they brought up and talked about each topic was so much better than I have seen in other kdramas.

I just love that they chooses hairdressing as topic for the whole series, cause it made it very interesting. I feel like they almost every time choose acting school of film school as topic. So it was cool to see

I dont get it!

I'm confused! Is her previously being fat, and having surgery on her face (because of an accident) really that big of a deal? I know the Asian countries aren't exactly kind to people who are overweight in their plots, but this one seems unrealistically excessive. None of the characters were written believably, their actions didnt make sense. It was a set of dramatic scense with a forced drive through strange twists in a jumbled plot to get from one to the next. Maybe the long version is better, but I'm not willing to risk 68 episodes in the hopes this trainwreck changes.

A light intro to Thai drama for beginners ;-)

This series is highly recommended for those who are interested in watching Thai drama for the first time. Nothing special about it, a lovely rom-com. It's light, the pace is fast, and the 'Thai-dramas spices' in it aren't overwhelming. An excellent cast and the ending fits the genre. A happy ending : )
