Absolutely Amazing

The plot twist.... damn, it shook me up too hard. I never would have expected that. The entire drama kept me on my toes for every episode, it was hard for me to look away from the screen. The plot was amazing, to be honest when i saw the episode that revealed stuff my breath got stuck in my throat it was too unexpected. I found it beautifully portrayed and all the actors depicted their characters so well that it was hard to guess what the truth would have been. I specially loved the character of Yoo Si Joon, I have no words for the character, the bond between the siblings, the reliance upon each other and of course the unexpected part.

The BEST BL/Bromance I've Ever Watched

This drama had been on my watch list for years. I finally got to watch it last year. At first, I didn't understand much of the plot because it doesn't start in order without much context. However, as I continued watching, I found myself binging every episode. I thought I would get bored after a couple episodes; 50 episodes did look like a lot. But in reality, 50 episodes is just not enough... the things I would do to watch more.

Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan did Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian JUSTICE!! I absolutely cannot imagine these characters being played by anyone else. Due to China's strict rules on non-hetero relationships in entertainment, I was a bit nervous on how they will turn a BL novel into a bromance drama. However, despite there being no kisses or direct love confessions, watchers could feel their love. This drama is the best example of how actions speak louder than words!!!! The supporting cast also did an amazing job. The acting and casting was a 10000/10.

The storyline was also very easy to get into as long as you stay attentive. I love fantasy and action, so this drama was my type of drama. I would rewatch it again in a heartbeat. The character dynamics is top notch.

THE OST!!! Wuji was on replay everyday after I finished this drama. It made me cry every time. I don't think I ever moved on from this drama despite watching it a year ago. It is just toooo good. PLEASE watch this drama, you won't regret it.

Coming Out story of a Confused teen - full of sweetness and angst

Completed - 2/10/2022

This is my first completed Thai drama (BL or not). I am not a serious BL drama watcher and I am a straight woman, so I can't really comment on how realistic this drama's portrayal of a teen's coming out journey. However, I have to say that among the BL dramas that I have watched (Chinese, Korean or Taiwanese), this one is the best produced and most "realistic" to me. Most BL dramas focus a lot of the romance and skinship/kisses and are usually comedies. This one shows us Teh's conflicted feelings of realizing that he is attracted to his male best friend.

I really like the first episode. It was well-produced like a movie. It describes the young friendship of two adolescents, how they had a fallout and then back together as friends. It was innocent, and just about rekindling and repairing a lost and broken friendship. I was hooked after watching the first episode.

Episodes 2 and 3 brought us more joy and the developing of feelings for each other. You see a little jealousy from both Teh and Oh-Aew, when they are not quite sure why they are feeling a certain way. Is it just pure friendship or more than that? We also saw a few very intimate and sensual scenes from the pair of friends, yet not sexual as other Thai BL dramas I've seen. There are so much emotions in these episodes and I really enjoy the acting from both of our leads. Oh-Aew is so sweet and caring, and such a great friend to Teh.

Pacing slows down in Ep 4 and 5 and I lost a little of my focus. The focus is on Teh's mixed feelings and confusion. Others might think that it took him too long to understand his feelings. However, I disagree. Though I don't have such experience, it can't be easy to have your ideals and belief system turned upside down. He needs time to think and process and really feel. Teh is not sure what to do with these new feelings for Oh-Aew, as he's brought up to like girls and not boys. His heartfelt talk with his older brother conveys, I assume, many teens' concerns about how others view them as "different". Oh, what a great and supportive brother he has.

If I have to say one thing I don't like about this drama, is the overdramatic crying of Teh. He is quite a crybaby and the saliva and snot are a little too much for my taste. Otherwise, the acting is solid. I really like PP (Oh-Aew) and prefers his acting and showing of emotions over Billkin (Teh).

For some reason, I had low expectations for this movie but I was really surprised by how funny the writing was and how entertaining the characters were.

I thought My Tutor Friend 2 would be much like the original My Tutor Friend a boy meets girl, high school romance with some angst thrown in the mix. My Tutor Friend 2 is actually more of a light-hearted, fun comedy that appeals to rom-com lovers.

Having seen Lee Chung Ah's stiff acting in Flower Boy Next Door, I wasn't expecting much out of her but she surprised me in this movie. Her acting was very natural and convincing. This is my first time seeing Park Ki Woong act, and his mischievous smiles and wicked expressions left me wanting to see more of his work. Jong-man (or "Junk-man" as Junko refers to him) provided a lot of humor with his bad attitude and misguided lessons. The supporting characters were also a source of much of the humor in this movie. Jong-man's father and Jong-man's two sidekick best friends create some hilarious scenes. The play fighting scene between Jong-man's best friends is one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever seen. Just recalling it makes me laugh out.

For anyone on the edge about watching this, or like me having low expectation for it, I'd say wholeheartedly watch this movie. It's a fun watch and you will be left feeling satisfied with a grin on your face.

After finishing this drama, I must say: WOW!!!!!

I really really really.......loved this drama!!!! And why? There is more than one reason:

1) The story is amazing.
It is about a group of young adults who are studying at the university in a musical department. It is about their past, present and future, about their dreams, relationships and problems. It has a realistic plot. It is a mature version of Dream High, but in my opinion, What's up is much better! The writers here did a great job!

2) The characters.
Each character in this drama is unique, human and real. Each of them has own flaws but also positive aspects. My favourite characters were Oh Doo Ri (Im Ju Eun) and Kim Byung Gun (Jo Jung Suk). Both actors did an amazing job! I loved every scene with them!

I loved Im Ju Eun in Wild Romance but after watching What's Up, I came to like her even more. Her character was just so cool! She was clever, crazy, a bit of a rebel but also nice and talented. I loved how she had one-sided love for her professor.

Jo Jung Suk is one of my favourite actors and he was the reason why I started to watch this drama. I chose well, but did I expect something else from a drama starring Jo Jung Suk? No. His character here was hilarious, pitiful and I was just waiting till he finally showed his voice to the world. Jo Jung Suk is a really good singer and even better actor. You will see that you will love those too.

On the other hand, I really disliked the character of Park Tae Yi. She was so naive and to me, she seemed stupid.

3) The music!!
The music was outstanding! What a shame that I am not able to find the OST anywhere. Everyone sings very well but singing of few of them is just amazing! I was never a really big fan of Big Bang but I have to say that Daesung is a really good singer (however, his acting skills are really low). Jo Jung Suk is also an ace. And I also liked Im Ju Eun's singing. I was also surprised to see here a member of my favourite k-pop group SPICA, Yang Ji Won, whose singing was superb as well.

4) The ending!
I really liked it. Even though I would like to reveal more, I won't. Just watch it yourself, you won't be disappointed. I guarantee it!

5) Jo Jung Suk - he just deserves his own point.

6) Im Ju Eun - so as her.

Right now, I can't come up with more reasons to watch this drama. It is just superb!

And who should watch this drama?

- a music fan
- a fan of Jo Jung Suk
- a k-drama fan
- a person who likes good quality series
- a fan of Rachel from Heirs a.k.a Park Tae Yi
- everyone who wants to watch something realistic
- a person who appreciates good acting
- ...... etc.

I hope that you will enjoy this drama as much as I did!

Nankyoku Ryourinin or The Chef Of South Polar is an engaging take about the life of a group of scientists thrown in a faraway post in the Antarctic region.

The team of eight have different shores within their posts and they have to stay there for a little more than a year. Their story is mainly told by their easy-going appointed chef. Basically, the film shows bits and pieces of their everyday life and how they manage to survive in such a place. There’s water control, waiting for one’s role, lack of communication, shortage in certain ingredients and surely routine, cold and loneliness.

The characters in this film were very well shaped. Even though the chef was the main character. Every other group member got his exposure. There was an interesting balance between their behaviours and their natural eccentric personalities. You would see a bunch of grown man doing sports activities every morning, a tantrum thrown out of nowhere or several activities to shorten the time. All while helping each other and relying on one another through various situations.

The film’s strength was keeping the storyline very close home. It was humane and quite real. It’s how you would expect of a scientific team to act when they’re thrown in an isolated region. Their quirky humour and delightful situations were a great way to not make this film too melodramatic or overly sentimental.

Led by the versatile Sakai Masato, the acting department was very well illustrated. The cast delivered, as they should have. They were quite faithful to their characters.

It could be that the film got a little slow but it was that exact same building that made it quite delightful to follow. Plus, the funny situations made it a lot shorter than what it seems.

A little warning, try not to watch this on an empty stomach. It will be a complete torture with all the delicious dishes in the film. It’s impressive how a good chef can make a variety of food with little choice of ingredients.

So many excellent and exciting fantasy elements. Shamans, priests, spirits, ghosts and a dragon God. An unlikely group come together to secretly reform the NightWatchmen and fight against evil spirits. Production value is high and the main theme is pure fantasy in a historical setting.

The acting and direction was ok. The story drags out far to long, sadly taking the edge of the excitement. If you love fantasy and you need to kill 24 hours, this can be the drama for you.

Story: this is the second series that i like in UP series after Crazy Artist.. the story is cute. the guy is not over the top like any other UP ambassador portrayed in their series, the guy is basically a normal guy not to mention he is runaway prince so obviously he got his own attitude. but not so over as i said he was being portrayed as normal guy. the story was funny ! and i really love it when the main lead are wearing the girls clothes. pretty sure he is much more beautiful that most of us.. the girl main lead also is just like a normal universities girl which she dont really go around chasing the guy like the other series.. the story is good and lighthearted without any really evil villain.. it just a story between both lead.

Acting/Cast: i really like the acting of both lead, they are so cute. just like crazy artist where u can feel the chemistry between lead and feel sad when the lead is crying.. it is the same with this series.

music: i dont really like it personally.

rewatch: it is the 2nd series that i like in UPrince series. obviously gonna watch it again ! there is no dragging in this 4 ep okay..

This is one of the most interesting show I've ever seen. It's filled with great storyline, amazing cast and characters. I absolutely instantly fell in love with it and it didn't help the fact that Moo-gang/444 was really hot. The story's within a story and the way the plot unfolds was something unique and performed really well. From the first episode itself I got hooked and had this obsession over watching more and more. Although I got greedy with the ending it still was something beautiful and more on the reality side.

Overall there are no words that can describe my love for this show, it's got every genre there is, Thriller, Mystery, Comedy, Romance, love, friendship and what not. So anyone having doubt about watching this show should just close their eyes and get to it, because I assure you that this show will not disappoint.

Well, let me just get started on this whole plot thing. You read the synopsis you know thinking you are going into a movie with at least a semi decent plot but oh boy are you wrong. The plot starts to fall off truthfully around 30-40 minutes since it seems to be going all over the place and by this point you can already predict the ending ( but I'm sure that is the point I mean the movie is a ' psychological ' horror and most people get wind of the ending real quick). You can get confused easily if you don't pay attention I know I did and had to re-watch some parts to truthfully understand it. It wasn't really scary, like even White: Melody of The Curse was scarier than this which is saying something since I found a lot of that movie just poorly done in the horror section. The acting was okay, I mean the maid probably had the best acting the entire movie and her dead stare was the best part of it all. The kids also did a decent job with the acting but for the mom/father they had some parts where it could definitely be improved. For Music, truthfully I don't remember much music but the cello music on the tape and hey, that was some good stuff. Don't rewatch it after watching it once though its honestly a huge waste of time that you'll never get back especially because the whole plot at the end will just be ruined for you.

A very refreshing surprise - reminded my why I love K-drama

I loved this drama! You need to watch it. It’s more about competition for grades, and scams where the wealthy and privileged buy preferential treatment for college admission, than it is about an affair between a teacher and a student. Misleading info about this show: 1) The title “Melancholia” sounds depressing. This isn’t a comedy, but it was not depressing, either. I binged 16 episodes in three days. I couldn’t do that if it was depressing. 2) There is no physical relationship between a student and teacher. I’ll admit a couple of episodes seemed slow, but the other episodes more than made up for it. I loved the ending, which is more than I can say for a lot of K-dramas. I was so impressed by what happened in a couple of later episodes that one scene made me cry happy tears, and another gave me goosebumps. Several people have asked if they should watch this, and I say definitely yes.

story could've been better but that's okay

I started this drama when I was bored and it was really fun. My review has spoilers, so please be careful.

OST: Love the songs of this drama! Morning & Evening by Liu Yuning was a great opening song for this drama.

Story: I believe story could've been better actually. The first half was really good in comedy and crime. Cases were also interesting. It was different from other dramas and I had high expectations. However, second half was not as good as first half. There were lots of push and pull, discrimination between 2 races, predictable events and of course cliche love things. For example, when she was afraid to be with HZ because of what other people might think, cold ML changes and become soft because of FL, she decides to sacrifice herself and he sacrifices himself to save her, him not inheriting throne etc. These are what we saw every drama. I expected sth more than this cliches actually. But sometimes they made things I didnt expect which was good. Bromance and friendship between HZ & WJ were also one of the best things in this drama.

Acting: I didnt have a problem with acting of main leads. It didnt bother me how she acts cute etc. But some may found it a little bit off. Bi Wenjun was great as HZ I believe.

If you wanna have a good laugh and watch beautiful fighting scenes, you can give a chance to this drama.

Cute, easy to watch rom-com that took the path of least resistance

The start of this show is actually the best part. The premise of an overbearing highflyer who flew too close to the sun, crash and burn to become a lowly live-in caretaker of a share house is interesting.

The fish out of water trope generated a few laughs. The injection of a FL who held a grudge against the ML sounds spicy but that's about as angsty as it got. Yes, there was a bit of payback fun and resultant character growth and healing but it is a tropey rom-com to its core so it is no surprise that the rest of the plotlines follow the well thumbed playbook.

I'm not saying that it is bad, to the contrary, it is quite light and an easy watch. The "problem" is that it doesn't push hard in any direction. The revenge plot is half hearted because the FL is too nice. The SML/SFL are too understanding and they just take the hint and move on. A bit of distraction and that's about it. The romance of the OTP is nice but not particularly passionate. Even the skinship is more coincidental than full on passionate affairs. I normally hate "angst for angst sake" type of writing but this show swings a little too far in the opposite direction.

Naturally, the ML is a changed man by the end of the show and we get the mandatory HEA ending. Totally fine and a bit of fan service but this puts it squarely in the middle of a very crowded space with little to separate it from the rest.
Worth the one time watch but hard to come back for seconds.

Phenomenal at its best, cringeworthy at its worst

Like the first season, we see an assortment of crimes that the Rainbow Taxi crew goes about resolving. The quality of the show varies from case to case - though most if not all are drawn from real life crimes, some are much more compelling than others.
It's always entertaining to see the group play different roles as they hoodwink criminals while getting their revenge. At its best, it draws a light on justice not being fully carried out, and hints at some of the corruption within the legal system. There's a pointed difference between the rulings you see when all the evidence is given to the courts in this show, versus the lighter sentences in real life.

What I didn't quite like was the interactions between members of the Rainbow Taxi group. Too much of the dialogues between each other was excessively cheesy and cliched. At its worst, it feels like you're watching a bad action movie, with a level of corniness that just makes you want to skip to the next episode. I think this season could have done a better job showing the camaraderie between the group without just repeating lines that we've all heard a million times.

The BGM continues to give this show a unique style, but I wish there was a little more variety. A couple of the heroic songs are played way, way too often, especially when nothing important's happening. If you have a BGM as good as this show does, there's no reason to waste it by overplaying songs.

A Wonderful Surprise

I accidentally found this piece of gold, and I am so glad I did. I enjoyed this so much because I liked that they took the time to build the relationship. In my opinion, this was a lot like being able to take a look into the characters lives. Mitsuomi comes off as serious and a bit rigid, while Yamato is a warm and friendly type. Overtime, you get to see different layers of each of their personalities that isn't immediately noticeable. To me, this felt like a very realistic of a relationship developing which was so refreshing. The actors were great and story was great. I was a fan of the music as well, it really fit the scenes well. A++ for this film. I've watched more than once. Do recommend. ??
