guess we gonna keep getting the 2nd couple…

guess we gonna keep getting the 2nd couple 1st lol, not that i am complaining - they give us a more mature vibe - they for sure "go for it" & make things "steamy" while the main couple brings a more pure young/1st love vibe - where they r still circling each other, always on the verge of confessing.***************************************************************************************side note: Ouyang Han saying his natural hair is curly is utter b.s & made me laugh as in the rain when he was dripping wet & Li Ming found him, his hair was straight & didn't revert back to being wavy or curly. just an observation. ****************************anyway liked that Yu Lei didn't waste time but patched things up with Ouyang Han also gave him his approval (for dating Li Ming) also liked that Ouyang Han didn't hold a grudge but in turn tried to advise Yu Lei about his nonexistent progress with Chen Ke - that was sweet & well done given we an ep from the end. so am happy the bff's again. *********************************btw the whole scenario where Chen Ke's class were changed is kinda far-fetched cause the librarian sayings a few days have passed - can't be. u register for classes at the start of a semester, not a few days after finals. same with the CCTV vids bein gin her computer. that was all fast-tracked so we would find out who messed with Chen Ke & why. cause we an ep from the end?!? oh well - pity this turned a bit sloppy, hope this not gonna infect the rest of the ep as so far this has been a gem of a drama. *********************************************************************************************************************************************btw at the start we saw that He Jin cheated, that means he may have been doing all along so he doesn't deserve the scholarship & now we find out he is messing with Chen Ke, why? Chen Ke has never done anything but be kind & friendly - among all the kids in his room let alone that University why He Jin zero in on Chen Ke - so weird. & sorry but his punishment was whack - especially when the victim Chen Ke wasn't helped at all, if anything he had to now work harder & even move cause of He Jin's wrongs. how this logical that he was basically punished & He Jin got away with "murder"!?!? *************************************it's so ironic that whenever Chen Ke is troubled he pushes Yu Lei away, i get that it's cause he doesn't want to be a burden to him, but he needs to stop dictating thing for Yu Lei & actually listen & communicate with him. he might as well put a muzzle on his mouth. he decides all on his own & after that there is no dialogue. this is so unfair to do to anyone - friend or lover. yet can't hate on Chen Ke cause in his heart/mind he is doing this for Yu Lei's benefit - he isn't taking advantage of his kindness - sad. as they both end up lonely & hurting. Yu Lei bless his huge heart wont stop trying - until the end he's fighting & so am glad that he stopped trying to communicate & used action to convey his feelings, that for sure will break through Chen Ke's "walls".

Three Stars

Sigh!! Hui Ju tells Yi An to fight but she seems like she's giving up to protect him. Does her theory about fighting to protect someone you love not apply to her? I was so sad for the King his grandfather and mother are so awful. No wonder he loves Yi An so much.

forensic subplot ends super underwhelming.…

forensic subplot ends super underwhelming. Kinda just ends and not really explained as to why? Closing the department was super out of nowhere and idk feels weird like the writers were like "yup this did its job so we can write it out" Other than that I'm glad that we finally get to see more of Ryo and the mysteries surrounding him. I wish the main protaginst wouldn't be so obnoxious so I could enjoy the scenes with

Highly emotional

Such an emotional episode where we get to learn the characters’s painful background. An amazing drama all around with top-notch acting. Fantastic!

Immersion Ruined! Weak screenplay!

Destined was a grounded, brilliant character study, but Episode 14 trades logic for cheap gimmicks, ruining the emotional stakes. The Yangzhou Massacre should have been harrowing; instead, it became a superhero trope-fest. Gu Jiusi fending off 100 men and Yuru galloping into a cramped battle zone on a horse (on her first day of learning😂) is peak "plot armor" that destroys all realism. The writing fails the characters too. Yuru, usually cautious and proprietary, inexplicably ignores her husband’s warnings to meet Luo—a virtual stranger—in the middle of the night. What was her plan? Meanwhile, Luo’s tears over a childhood acquaintance he barely knows feel unearned. From the hollow "sacrifices" of brothers to the melodramatic pacing, every beat feels like a forced ploy for sympathy. Even the deaths feel disingenuous, though Matriarch Ye was at least spared the disgrace of this writing by dying off-screen. A disastrous turn for a once-promising drama.

one of the cutest and wholesome moments i have seen in a drama

At 11:19 in ep 7 the Goddess of wind moment. It's is fascinating how watching or reading certain scenes or dialogues heals a little part of you. This was the moment . A pure moment when the characters are simply enjoying what they are and what they will become. A moment of simply existing and being. Finding joy in the smallest of moments in life that is like an extended episode of a monotonous loop is what makes it exciting. And this scene in ep 7 from 10:39 to 11:19 is why i watch dramas. For me this little moment is pure bliss

The Girl They Cast Aside Has Returned 🏮

First ImpressionEpisode 2 balanced beautiful cinematography, family tension, political danger, and sharp humour so well. The female lead continues to prove she’s far smarter than everyone around her expects.Episode ThoughtsThis episode opened with the female lead’s coming-of-age ceremony and honestly… it was stunning. Her grandmother truly spared no expense. The styling, the music, the atmosphere — everything felt elegant and grand. One of the most breathtaking moments was the black silk draped across the courtyard. When it was pulled away and sunlight poured in around her, she genuinely looked ethereal. It was impossible not to notice the way everyone was staring at her, including the male lead 👀But of course the peace never lasts because her father immediately starts causing trouble again.During the ceremonial rites, the female lead had previously refused to perform the bowing ritual toward her parents, yet somehow it was forced back into the ceremony publicly. It felt very much like her father trying to humiliate and control her in front of everyone, but thankfully she’s far too clever to let him fully succeed. What makes the family dynamics even worse is the presence of his favoured concubine. The fact he brought the concubine while her actual mother remains absent and unwell in the capital says EVERYTHING about the type of man he is 😭 and expecting the female lead to bow to the concubine too? Absolutely not.Thankfully she skillfully avoids the situation while still embarrassing her father in the process. We also begin to see more clearly just how much political danger is surrounding the male lead. Her grandmother is secretly assisting him in investigations involving corrupt nobles and princes connected to tax reform opposition, which means the entire family has now become a potential target.Because of this, the female lead is suddenly ordered back to the capital — a decision pushed forward by the male lead himself after she witnessed something she shouldn’t have. And honestly? Returning to the capital feels less like “coming home” and more like walking back into trauma. Before leaving though, we get more scenes with the prince introduced in episode one and he’s honestly such chaotic trouble 😭 he insists she call him “uncle” because of his relationship to her cousin, only for her to immediately outsmart him by demanding a gift if he expects the title. Their dynamic is hilarious.Naturally he responds by giving her a supposedly poisoned dagger because apparently this man treats life like a game. Then comes the carriage scene. This prince is genuinely insane because he literally points a crossbow at her while she’s travelling 😭 but weirdly… it may have saved her life. Her horse carriage had been tampered with and would’ve gone over a cliff had he not interfered. The drama continues to blur the line between whether he’s helping her, testing her, or simply entertaining himself because he’s bored.Once the female lead finally returns to the capital manor, we get painful flashbacks showing how badly she was treated as a child before being cast out. It becomes very clear this household never truly accepted her.But once again, she refuses to be powerless. One of the funniest moments of the episode happens when she deliberately arrives at the manor in the prince’s carriage, causing her father to mistakenly bow to HER thinking she’s the prince 😭 absolutely iconic behaviour. The prince appearing afterwards only makes the humiliation worse for him.We also finally see the reunion between the female lead and her mother, and honestly… it’s complicated. Her mother seems genuinely happy to see her, but the female lead remains emotionally distant because the pain of abandonment clearly hasn’t healed. The family dinner later on perfectly highlights how isolated she still is within this household. The concubine’s family behaves like the “real family” while she remains treated like an outsider. And when the concubine’s nanny tries stirring rumours about her arriving with the prince, everything escalates again. But what I absolutely LOVED was the ending. The female lead finally reaches her limit and basically makes it clear:“Maybe my mother will tolerate this treatment… but I won’t.”And then she storms directly into the concubine’s residence to confront them herself 😭This girl truly refuses to stay silent and I love her for it.Character NotesFemale Lead: Smart, fearless, emotionally wounded, but absolutely refuses to be controlled. She continues to carry this drama.Male Lead: Quietly watching everything unfold while clearly becoming more interested in her. There’s still a lot hidden beneath the surface. The Prince: Chaotic menace energy 😭 impossible to fully trust, but incredibly entertaining.Father: Somehow becoming worse every episode.Mother: A much more emotionally complicated character than expected. Their relationship feels painful rather than simple.Final ThoughtsEpisode 2 expanded the political storyline while also digging deeper into the emotional damage within the female lead’s family. The pacing continues to be excellent, and the drama balances tension, humour, and emotional moments really naturally. Also… the female lead humiliating her father twice in one episode? Deserved.Favourite MomentHer father accidentally bowing to her after she arrived in the prince’s carriage 😭Trope Check* Strong female lead 🏮* Political intrigue* Family betrayal* Chaotic prince energy* Hidden agendas* Slow burn tension* Court politics* Returning to hostile family home* Smart FL outplaying everyone* “I refuse to stay silent” energy ✨

Lots of back and forth between settings and…

Lots of back and forth between settings and plot points not too much of a fan of it. It still builds up towards one specific plot but it feels a little bit too hectic and all over the place. The reveal of what's inside the artifact was also a little bit lackluster to me. And the whole forensic side started to confuse me more than I understand what's going on. It always cuts back to it but only for a few seconds without much dialogue. Episode feels a little bit overloaded

Trust the writers!

I should have just trusted the writers LOL they are the writers for a reason. All of my frustrations in Episode 9 was slapped away by Episode 10. Hui Ju and Prince I-An deserve each other, and I am so happy that they are fighting for their love. Hui Ju’s brother shined in this episode, I’m just charmed by his and his wife’s characters. The Prime Minister deserves a good choking and slapping. Lord Inpyeong deserves to be whipped to death. I also cried for the Queen and her son. This was a roller coaster.

Ouyang Han getting defensive is logical -…

Ouyang Han getting defensive is logical - that's his go too... anyone that doesn't want to get hurt will go on the offensive before the other party can... & given Li Ming reaction to wakening up next to each other (which was also understandable) i get both sides. ironically both couples got their wires crossed, cause they don't know what to say or how to verbalize what they r feeling, let alone 2nd guessing what the other is feeling thinking (in Ouyang Han & Li Ming there aren't any feelings per-say) still same same but different *********************************************************************************************************the main couple ironically do feel the same about each other, but r too in their own heads & the lack of communication is causing the misunderstanding... Chen Ke stopped Yu Lei from talking & then get's mad that he didn't talk, while Yu Lei wants to express his feelings, but stopped cause Chen Ke told him he needed space & time - ugh. ******************************************thankfully Zhang Han turned out to be a sweetheart, seeing her cousin & Chen Ke's situation decided to step in & dish out some much needed advise (in Chen Ke's case, he isn't just pushing Yu Lei away cause he isn't aware of his feelings, it's cause he is jealous of Yu Lei's other friends) so thankfully she gave him the push he needed to go seek out Yu Lei. pity the health scare threw a wrench into the whole reunion - but it also goes to show how good a a friend/person Yu Lei is, cause he didn't care about anything but being with Chen Ke, helping, supporting & comforting him - wish i had that in my life. such a gem he not only put his life on hold to follow Chen Ke, he also made peace between father & son. ********************************************on that note Li Ming is another good-guy, after taking a breath he seeked out Ouyang Han & in spite of not being welcomed warmly, he stuck around & made him thaw. the only thing i dislike is how Ouyang Han like to belittle Li Ming & call him names - that aint cute & i need him to stop ASAP. ********************************************************************************************side note: i could've done without the trope of "they met as children therefore they r destined.." that's a bit eye roll inducing - but it's written this way so it is what it is & at least that means they have the parents approval to be together (even if their approval is just that they can be bff's & they not thinking anything romantic but it's something...).

Good episode, continues the established pacing…

Good episode, continues the established pacing and mood that the previous episodes established. But I don't understand Makoto's characterization. He doesn't notice the omnious hand on the picture but the coin in the bottle? Maybe this was done to show that he is quick to pick up on things? So far I find his plot the most interesting. Shoichi is a bit annoying as a character and we sadly don't see too much of Ryo. But I like that it's still a mystery what's his part in all of this.
