Green Flags, Plot Twists & Terrible Exes

This was probably my favourite episode so far.We’re finally starting to see a different side of Li Yi Fei following the breakup, and I enjoyed seeing some of the cracks in his normally calm and collected image. The more I see of him, the more green flags he collects.Qian Fei continues to have a rough time as she tries to move forward after losing both her relationship and her job. Watching her struggle through unsuccessful interviews was frustrating because she’s clearly capable, but life doesn’t seem interested in giving her an easy win right now.The biggest surprise of the episode was finding out that Li Yi Fei’s ex-girlfriend already knew he came from money. I genuinely didn’t expect that reveal. Up until now I assumed she simply chose wealth over love, but apparently she already knew exactly who she was walking away from. That revelation made her actions look even worse.Meanwhile, Qian Fei’s ex continues proving he might be one of the most annoying characters in this drama. Watching him with his new girlfriend makes it increasingly obvious that his idea of a “perfect woman” comes with a very specific bank balance attached.My favourite scene was easily the bartender friend throwing Li Yi Fei’s best friend over her shoulder after a drunken misunderstanding. I was not expecting that at all and it had me laughing.Favourite Character: Li Yi FeiFavourite Scene: The bartender friend launching the best friend over her shoulder after their misunderstanding.Biggest OMG Moment: The reveal that the ex-girlfriend already knew Li Yi Fei was wealthy.Overall, the romance is still developing at a slower pace than I’d usually prefer, but the characters continue to keep me invested. The green flags are stacking up, the exes are making increasingly questionable decisions, and I’m fully seated for whatever consequences are coming their way.Current Verdict: Not perfect, but I’m definitely sticking around to watch the exes regret everything.

Just use the 'skip' button a lot to get through this one.

Episode just barely starts and I'm already agitated and irritated. The idea that her 'friends' basically trick FL into going on a hiking / camping trip without warning is just insane, given her special health risks. And that's not even accounting for the fact that creepy stalker Du Lei is there and Yuan Shuai has no idea where they are. My god this event is already pushing so many buttons to make viewers triggered. Thank god Yuan Shuai found out about it and reeled everyone back before it became an overnight. And man, Liu Yan Xi was totally channeling his Till The End of the Moon role of Devil Lord Tantai Jin as he sat on the couch in his apartment in the half-dark when Li Xiaochuan walked in trembling! LOL! That scene saved the episode! Otherwise, this episode spends far too much time trying to sell Du Lei as somehow sympathetic and a worthy 'other love interest'. He's not. He's objectively a terrible person based on the things he has done. And we also find out that HE was involved in driving her father to his death! Far too much screen time spent dwelling on his sad-sack, I-feel-sorry-for-myself face. This episode requires constant use of the 'skip' button. Just skip to the final nice scene between the two leads at the end.

Return for one and trip for another to Lishan

I did not expect him to burn the wrapper and so effectively pierce her heart.😭💔 That incident followed by a divorce decree gave her no reason to hope. The prefecture had every reason to want to celebrate after case finished and promotions along with bonuses passed out. Prince Ding is far from being in the mood and only his guard knows why. Ye Li went back the way she came with her two favorite people in her heart. She is devestated that Xiu Yao was not by her side but thought he wanted it that way. She had no way to convince him her love was not simply charity returning a debt. I wish we could have seen what her letter to him said. It will probably be a flashback later. He joins his colleagues and tries to drink his pain away. He brings her back her favorite food and sweets to apologize, but she’s long gone. He wakes up and finds every letter but his and goes to FeiBai who berates him for sending her back to a desolate mountain. Xiu Yao now looks like he’s aged two decades with the grey hair. His talk with Fei Bai makes him request a meeting with the emperor to relinquish his post. Since he is such a meticulous person, he already had capable replacements lined up when he asked for indefinite leave time from the palace. He is quite candid as to why but the Emperor doubts his motives. For once Empress Dowager is helpful for the right reasons. She wants to know what happened to Lishan and this gives her a good reason to find out. She has sent her spoiled eunuch to accompany them. He is already whining about the food.😝🙄She has granted Prince Ding the authority and position to gain entrance to the school. We know what he will find. What we don’t know is what happened and how she survived it all. I am grateful they did not wait 4 episodes to get to this point but went directly to resolving the misunderstandings. Tomorrow we will get to see how Ye Li is doing. The eunuch will probably whine about the lack of accommodations.😝🙄

The snake and the sparrow

And in the end, it turned out that Mo Yungao was his own adjutant—the third one that had to die. And the Evil God was all fake... 🙄 Well... this isn't a fantasy drama after all, right? 😏I didn't expect Haixia to kill Haiqi. 😧 But maybe, just maybe, he didn't do it himself, but Haiqi forced his hand in the end? She was holding his arm. And that look on his face maybe wasn't the anger of a killer, but anger because she made him kill her? I don't know... As always, grasping at straws to rationalise anything my dear Haixia is doing... 🥺🤷‍♀️And now Hailou has set his mind on killing Haixia, but will he be able to do that? Really? The mask makes him look like a snake, returning us to the story at the very beginning where Haiqi told them Hailou was the snake that kills the sparrow (Haixia). 😭💔

Quite epic

Haixia is Hailou's guardian angel—dark or not. He wouldn't let anything happen to him. I had a hunch he would intervene, and he did! 👏😌 Bye-bye, Mo Yungao! 👋Also, I think Haixia is provoking Hailou all the time, trying to prove he's not redeemable, for it would harden Hailou and give him the strength (mental more than physical at this point) to kill him. 🥺 Haixia said himself that he wants to die, but he can't kill himself. I guess his dark self just doesn't let him. 😔And Hailou as Feikun Balu—just wow! 🤩 All his skillsets and abilities seemed like they were on a whole new level. The entrance was EPIC, the aura was overwhelming, and the way he moved and killed was like a tornado destroying everything in its path!P.S. I am actually grateful they showed us Mo Yungao's journey up to the point where we first met him. It explained a lot, especially that it has been the Evil God's influence on everything that has happened from the very start. 👆

Struggling with changes

So meeting was with YiFei’s dad. He said no for all the reasons YiFei had outlined for him. What was positive was not closing the door when he had product ready. YiFei’s meeting was tech and farming. They were developing a way to help farm in a sustainable way integrating it with developments and tech. There is a bday dinner for Jun Cheng and his mom staged an argument to prove her son could actually act like a grown up. There is hope for him.🤣Between Wang and gf the gf is the grownup. He wants to put the blame on Qian Fei when it was his behavior that was betrayal. So he wants to kick his ex under the bus to make his life easier. 😡🤬 Ms Liao had the right response for the situation. I still do not see what she or Qian Fei see in this guy that ever made him worth their time.😝This is probably in the cut scenes when they had to do face swap. It was fun watching the Ace Fei’s studying for test. She can basically quote the book verbatim. Someone is making the video viral because they refused money to kill it. Not sure yet who wants benefits most from that. There are other ways to get rid of Qian Fei. Who wants the Hotel to look bad? This time Wian Fei is wondering where Yi Fei is for dinner. She made all his favorites. JingJing told Qian Fei how she could not stay with LuZe if he truly valued his company more than her. I don’t know why he thought she couldn’t grasp his situation. She pretty succinctly told QianFei why his company was set up to fail. She was even braced for it. It’s kinda like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol when he gets the fiancée’s ring back because it did not have the same appeal as the money. I didn’t expect that from him. I wonder if mean girl is behind the video trend. That kinda seems like her bailiwick.

Aftermath

JingJing gives LuZe an ultimatum and Lu Ze failed. He is so driven by his product which should have been the perfect thing for R&D, but he did not know how to protect it or produce it. This worked against him as a businessman. Making Qian Fei the messenger for his business lapse in judgment was unfair to both of them. She and YiFei outlined what he needed to change on the business side and he bought into Mr Liao’s fake security. His biggest failure was not confiding in JingJing and to not think her capable to be his supporter for his business. If he loses her, he deserves to. YiFei has disappeared and Qian Fei wonders where he is. Poor bear getting quite a beating with no snuggles this time. A drunken YiFei finally gets back and notes the bear dressed like him.🤣He tucks bear in with her and tells them goodnight. They bargain for chores and both equally shameless involving parents. Qian Fei won that one since mom is a spirit. He whines greatly over dish chore but the button sewing gives them both fond memories of mothers. These little instances bring thoughtfulness to the drama and a sweetness to the couple. Wang txts an apology but it said unsent. Had he texted her with the truth from get go, that whole lobby scene would have never taken place. Qian Fei has been toting that 500K luggage around all day.😝🙄Ms Fang is told no about apologizing to Ms Liao. Wang should do that. 😝 Lu Ze and business partner are at Yi Fei’s family home waiting on a meeting. Yi Fei is off to a meeting. Can’t wait to see the look on Lu Ze’s face next episode.

i think it’s fitting to pull the rug out under us but i do wonder what i would feel if they actually did permanently leave. because i thought this was a touching tribute to the two of them. i liked acknowledging miu’s patchy leader+ship & her purpose being a spot of insecurity ，i liked shun’s blunders catching up to him & i thought how they handled this was pretty beautiful. tokuda was a kind’ve clanky perfomrnace where the mark was missed that’s honestly how it was ，it was not perfect. i liked what they did i liked how things went. i loved the hair zodiarts a lot that’s my thing & i think it was really cool. but yeah i think that’s all it for this.

Bounce back from the ickiness?

After all the icky cheap plot gimmicks of last episode this one starts off with a nice and sensible reconciliation between JJ & YS and hopefully sets the stage for no more deceptions and a a start to an actual equal-footing romance. But .... then she immediately lets herself get lured right back into creepy Du Lei's manipulations!!!???? I just don't get why she is so stubbornly stupid about how dangerous it is to keep associating with this creep. It doesn't make sense and feels so manipulative by the writers. Fortunately, once Du is off screen again, the rest of the episode is charming. It's kind of a fundamental about this show: It's extremely enjoyable when both leads are on screen and otherwise kind of tedious. The other side stories are either flat or cringe.
