Very strong premiere

A very strong premiere! The chemistry between the leads is already noticeable and it's amazing. Love that it's not the cliché version of a bad boy falling in love with a smart girl, because our girl is quite capable—not some shy damsel in distress. All the things she has to juggle to take care of herself and her grandma! 🥺😏❤️Wow, I think I am already sold. Really! 🤩

He is a total red flag, but I'm still trapped!

[WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 2]Episode 2 completely changed my view of the male lead, and honestly, it left me in shock. Feng Suige is ruthless, manipulative, and straight-up cruel. If this turns into a toxic romance where the female lead actually forgives him and ends up with him after everything, this drama is going to be completely messed up and wildly unhinged.BUT... even though he is a walking red flag and a literal psychopath, I just can't bring myself to hate him. When he smiles like that, all my anger disappears. Chen Zheyuan's visuals and charm are downright dangerous, making his character absolutely terrifying yet incredibly charismatic. I am completely trapped. I’m fascinated, terrified, and officially trash for this man!

the mellow vibe continues, but Chang Yang…

the mellow vibe continues, but Chang Yang has become very flirty & the fact Qing Lang is attracted is obvious.. he's even worried his brother might have feelings for Chang Yang. but what does that mean? will he make sure his brother isn't emotionally involved? or like he is doing he will focus on Chang Yang??? ***********************************************************guess the 2nd couple r the actors that r in a BL. the oil & water attitude is entertaing but i still would want to know if it's cause of the character's or is the one that is pursuing the docile one really attracted? vice versa about the stoic one - how much is an act & how much is genuine. need more

What a situation!

Shaoshang is so reckless. I know Buyi likes her the way she is, but oh boy, the situation they got into because of the tally! Not only did the Crown Prince lose it because he didn't listen to Buyi's advice not to take it outside the Eastern Palace, but also, due to the Crown Princess Consort's plea for help, Shaoshang decided to make a fake one. 🫣🫢😰And that's a crime for which one's whole kin can get executed... Oh, Shaoshang! 🤦‍♀️ If Buyi hadn't given away his last remaining relic of General Huo, Shaoshang wouldn't survive this whole thing. At least she reconciled with Buyi and kind of finally confessed her feelings. 😌 The scene with Buyi's mother was so sad to watch. This was one of her bad days. 🥺💔

"A very promising start with one standout character

Just finished the first episode and the plot already looks incredibly promising. The world-building and the pace kept me genuinely hooked from start to finish. To be completely honest, I have mixed feelings about the main cast selection, as the leads didn't immediately click with me. However, Chen Zheyuan as Feng Suige is an absolute game-changer. He completely stole the show in this premiere! His character has so much presence and potential, and he looks stunning on screen.Overall, it's a solid 1st episode that makes me want to jump straight into the next one. Definitely watching this for Feng Suige!

Too careless to be believable.

I never like to victim blame and she's not at 'fault', but Jiang Jun was incredibly foolish to go visit Wan Shan alone and then come back on foot alone in the dark. Her character never struck me as this stupid before so this feels like plot-induced stupidity to create the drama moment. This whole sequence just seemed contrived and poorly written. Then the next sequence with Xu Li going to campus to stalk Riley Wang's character was also stupid. No savvy computer nerd walks away and leaves their laptop screen unlocked like that. And really, the whole Xu Li + Xiaochuan storyline is just not interesting. Too carrtoonish, cringe and weird. This episode goes further south with the cheap setup that Du pulls off to get Jiang Jun mad at Yuan Shuai and sympathizing for him. So obviously contrived and the writing makes JJ look more stupid again. The writers have totally suspended her common sense and critical thinking in this episode. The funny/romantic/cute scenes at the end of the episode between JJ & YS almost make up for it, but it's hard to forgive that much junky plot shenanigans.

SML sob story time

Not too surprising, the show has started to build out a sad-sack sob-story for Du Lei to build sympathy in you for the creep. Whatever. I will probably skip through most of his scenes from this point forward. The truth is, in every drama with his type of character, it just feels like a waste of time when shows spend a lot of minutes trying to make you feel sorry for the unrequited love interest when he isn't someone I can feel sorry for at all and you _know_ he is not the one who is going to get the girl. Plus, Du is just creepy and pathetic to look at. And clearly a lying snake, stalking her and contriving to 'save' her from someone (probably his own man) with a car ride. And he's morally compromised. He obviously knows that Wan Shan is an abuser of women but does nothing about it, only warning FL - a woman he cares about - to stay away. Du could care less about all the other women who that scumbag has raped.

What is going on between the Du siblings?

Any bets on whether Du Lei will do the psychopathic delusional thing of so many 'unrequited love' SMLs and misconstrue her simple gift of a plain old tie as if it is some expression of her undying love for him? I really hope we don't have to suffer through an excess of screen minutes devoted to this creep. Especially if it's at the expense of time that could be spent on the two leads. Also what's the deal between Du Lei and Du Ling ('Linda')??? Are they siblings? Why does she seem to have the hots for him? Lots of hints of past intimacy between them!! Is there really an incest vibe going on here? Or will they be revealed as adopted or step siblings? Probably, to get past the censors. Nevertheless that got freaky. Later, Bai Lu does drunk Jiang Jun in absolutely hilarious fashion! Her chemistry with Leo is crazy good and especially when they get comedic!

LOVED IT

I absolutely loved it, Hong ye ji and park ji joon nailed their role. It’s just sad that she doesn’t have any recent series, I love seeing her in my screen, the only thing I didn’t like about this show was that 1. At episode 12-16, the show felt a bit dragged with unnecessary plot like loosing his memories2. When Yoong mentioned her mother at the end, we didn’t get any clarification if she was really alive, or if he was lying she to kill her.3. This might feel a bit personal, but I would have loved to see a moment when they’re in the queen and king roles, or even a child. Just something from the future, but that ok

Unexpectedly, Yuan Shuai gets some really…

Unexpectedly, Yuan Shuai gets some really solid advice from his assistant, Su Chang. In so many dramas, the cold, dominant ML's assistant is too much of a clown or too socially challenged to offer decent relationship advice. Su Chang, who does come across as a little clownish, nevertheless gives his boss so really sensible advice regarding Jian Jun. Then we get some "I'm sick take care of me" hijinks by YS (drama trope) which leads to a great, steamy moment when JJ reads a very steamy passage from a book! The only downside to this fun episode is that we have to suffer through another appearance by the creepy Du Lei. I guess he's just going to be around because some writers just don't know how to write a story without a 'love triangle'. Grit teeth and skip. It's funny just how pretentious the restaurant and fragrance chamber places he takes her to are - especially after Yuan Shuai took her to a place that made a noodle dish that specifically emotionally evoked her father's homemade noodles. The contrast in her reactions to the food on each 'date' was stark. The end of the episode ending with a face-off between Du & Yuan was oozing with testosterone but it at least revealed Du for who he was so JJ now knows honestly who she has been dealing with.

Ignoring the fact that we are both pissing…

Ignoring the fact that we are both pissing me off right now, I did not expect this to go this way. I understand he was lying from the start, like a comment on IQIYI said that. And I am like, okay, but lying to get with him is one thing, and then having his best friend lie to him, having his so-exposed childhood sweetheart lie to him, and then you set up this whole thing, a fake wedding, a whole bunch of shit. And believing in these Feng Shui masters, I am like, okay, we are on two different levels right now. He is playing checkers, y’all are playing football, because there is no way. I feel like he has every right to be mad because he has no idea if you are lying to him, because everyone knew from the start he was lying to him because he had a crush on him, and he has had a crush on him forever, okay? But he does not know the same with you, and you can tell him all this stuff, and he just thinks you are using him for his body. I understand that, but maybe if we communicated more, but I understand why he does not want to talk to him. So I am low-key on Ritz’s side right now. I think his feelings are completely valid, because lying is one thing, but he got the whole cast to lie to this guy. I am like, okay, so now we both like each other, but there are levels to this. They lowkey had me fooled so i guess 8.5/10? Okay bye!
