What am I expecting??
The simplicity of this series carries such deep emotions. This is why I fell in love with JBL, and honestly, it's been a while since I last felt this way about one.I fell in love with it in the first episode, then slowly fell out of love after two or three episodes. But then I stopped and asked myself: What exactly was I expecting from this series?
The characters are literally in their late 30s. So what was I expecting? Fluff? Pick-up lines? Cringey romantic moments?
And that's when I fell in love with it all over again.
This series is not for everyone. As I've mentioned before, this isn't your usual fluffy, student-themed BL. This is real life. There's very little fantasy in it. Instead, it hits hard with themes like midlife crises, the struggle between choosing stability or happiness, the pain of slowly losing people through death, falling apart, and of course, love and marriage—especially as a queer person.
So yeah, it's not for everyone, but I'll definitely recommend it to all of you.

Crazy how s2 is better than the first one!
WOW! I just finished season 2 and did not expect it to be better than season one, but it did. The plot was phenomal and everything about the characters and plot twists were so well written. this is a well deserved 10/10 in my book.I loved how everything connected, and I am they very excited to watch the third season as I’m confident that it will not disappoint. My hopes are up and my standard is raised! As an avid romance watcher, I did not expect me to be so pulled into this kdrama but I was heavily.

It was alright. The ost was pissing me off though, I felt like all the music except that one Yena song felt out of place to the situation it was being placed in. It was also strange how they did not give Boyfriend on Demand that much flack in the end, I thought they would pull a "None of this is real and thats the problem" but they never really did so it was a bit strange. There was also quite a bit gen ai use in the scenes which was ironic considering they're editers for webtoon artists. Overall though it was a rather light hearted drama with some good comedic moments. Was this review helpful to you?
Rude FL ~ the name or this drama should have been "Spring Cooking & Eating".
Wtf. How to invest money and time in such mediocre drama, nothing interesting, sparkle, inspiring. The only thing you can say is lovely is the visuals of the ML and the seaside, the nature.She, FL, is so rude, a jerk, entitled and act like a toddler... how a masculine man can accept such a toddler girl.
for example.. she is unhappy that she was saved with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and that she has a boyfriend?!?! how he dare to do that... wtf. ... is she mentally retarded? is this how a woman behaves in korea?
The drama is about cooking and eating?! 90% of time is about cooking. 90% about FL rudeness and the rest about life.
So mediocre and time waste.

Acting is great! Plot has it's pros/cons but overall a good watch
This plot line is very reflective of it's original source and you can tell it's based off a novel. It keeps you interested and intrigued throughout with it's twists/turns and it's unexpected surprises around every corner. The plot is deep, well though out, and quite intricate. There's these little details they've snuck in there that I didn't know until I rewatched some episodes and I really appreciated the thought that went into those moments. I've been watching a lot of short dramas lately so the depth and intricacy of a long drama was refreshing. However, that's also the downside of this drama. The plot in the middle lost it's steam a bit. While the beginning was cute, had multiple comedic moments that I really enjoyed, and moved along at a good pace, the middle tbh was quite slow/boring for me and I legit fell asleep at one point. They spent way too much time on that netherbeast section and I was over it at that point. I couldn't wait to get to the last third of the drama. They tried to maintain some of the initial comedy but as expected, as the storyline got more serious, the comedic moments because fewer and fewer. ML, FL, and all the other actors were all very good and I enjoyed their acting a lot. I don't have anything to be critical of the actors themselves, mostly a plot thing. After watching this, I'll be a lot more careful about what I wish for?
Just completed watching this one and honestly, I'm so glad I randomly stumbled upon it while looking for my next watch. The concept immediately caught my attention, and since I've always had a soft spot for Taiwanese BLs, I decided to give it a try. Safe to say, I don't regret it at all.What drew me in the most was how unique and fun the premise was. I'm exactly the kind of person who stays awake at 3 a.m. thinking about random "what if" scenarios, so a story revolving around wishes and shooting stars was right up my alley 🫣✨
In fact, after watching this series, I'm pretty sure I'll be a lot more careful about what I wish for 🥹
Going into it, I expected a light fantasy romance and nothing more. The concept felt playful, so I definitely wasn't prepared for any real angst. That's why when the story started dropping hints about what was actually happening, I literally had to pause and scream, "WHATTT???" 😭 I genuinely could not believe it. The shift caught me completely off guard and made me even more invested in the story.
What surprised me even more was the ending. I was convinced they were heading toward a typical cliché conclusion, but they ended up taking a different route, and I really appreciated that. It wasn't perfect. The ending did feel a bit rushed. But at this point, rushed endings are almost a trademark of Taiwanese BLs, so I've learned to make peace with it 😅
One thing I absolutely have to praise is the directing, especially in the final episode. There was something about the way those last scenes were shot that just elevated everything. Even if the ending felt a little rushed, the directing made it memorable, and honestly, the last episode ended up being my favorite because of it 🤌🔥
Overall, Wishing Upon The Shooting Star was a pleasant surprise. It starts off as a fun fantasy story, throws in emotions you don't see coming, and leaves you thinking long after it's over.
If you're into fantasy dramas and want something a little different, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a chance ❤️

A second watch review
The series is just as good as I remember so I've kept the score the same. Although there are plenty of crime series out there, this one shines for multiple reasons:-- The lineup of actors are fantastic and they all mesh really well together. The bonds between the group is weighed heavy but this is also why it feels real.
-- Although the series revolves mostly around the mystery of a violent crime, almost each episode just slowly peels off one layer of the unknown at a time with great pacing.
-- There are many times I really want to reach into the screen to grab the arrogant and young male lead... and just shake him really hard. His actions and mentality were so irking but you will eventually empathize with him as his past unravels and as he learns to face himself.
-- Although the situations feel quite depressing at times as you are introduced to many individuals with some heavy and complex trauma that they live with, it also manages to create a nice wrapping of warmth. Our "darker" male lead will also give you quite a few laughs just because of who he is.
-- Although a tad gruesome at times maybe for some, there isn't an over-dramatization of crime scenes. It isn't one of those that tries to play CSI but it still respects common sense. I really appreciate this actually. It didn't need any of the unnecessary addition for it to be intriguing.
My only nits are that they sometimes repeat flashback scenes a little too much but this is probably needed if you aren't binge-watching. And as mentioned above, the young lead just irks you quite often with his personality for quite some episodes but also as mentioned, he does make up for it well. Highly recommended for those who enjoy crime dramas without all the showy aspects. Even at a second watch, I still didn't feel the need to speed up any of the episodes.

ending this drama feels like a heartbreak
idk what they put in this drama but I guess it was a lotmaybe it’s bcs I watched perfect crown before this one but the story had me in a chokehold since episode one, the acting and don’t even let me start talking about the OST
last time I felt like I will miss drama characters was after watching love next door.. but now, even thinking about not spending my evenings after work with ki-ho, chae-ho and mok-ha makes me sad af..
I feel like I typed a lot but nothing will express how much I loved and enjoyed this drama

Not what I expected
I really didn't expect the game plot and how they would meet. I thought it was such a cool concept. Then suddenly the plot changed and it started to be based off construction. I didn't mind it at first, but for me, it slowly became more boring and complicated with the addition of the plot about her father and the ML. I miss having the game as the plot. I really did like the romance of the couple. both of their actings were really good, but I just hated the additional argument they had and felt as if it was too excessive. Due to the fallout of their relationship, I had to force myself to finish the series. The ending was a nice touch, but I do not think I could rewatch it again.Was this review helpful to you?
Not worth watching for a 36 episode Drama
This is my first ever online review of a any drama and it is so for a reason. The last 7-8 episodes are absolute blunders, felt like the writer just gave up. I'll give my reasons below:1) Felt like FL is not in love, its just a fling.
2) The very strong shown ML proven wrong as if his all the work experience didn't count at all.
3) Only the ML is making an effort to keep the relationship afloat.
4) FL felt very prejudiced and proud as if she surpassed the ML in careers.

The idea was great but …
First I need to say I really wanted to give this show a chance, but it sadly didn‘t work for me. The idea of the story was really great, like going back in time to fix and change the way you life went. I liked that a lot. Sadly the writing couldn't finish where they started it, and the villain was too simple and one-dimensional.But I need to say I liked the main couple; they both did a good job, and the chemistry was there; I could feel it. I think the biggest issue was the music and intensity that never went away. There were some scenes that weren't that dramatic, but the music always sounded like the world would end. So at one point I was just annoyed by the music and felt nothing.
The worst scene for me was when Armin got shot. Like, how could he survive a shot in the heart and also have no scar, nothing, like it never happened? What the hell? That sends me completely off.
The ending was underwhelming, and I was just happy when I finally finished it.
I think the idea was great and the acting as well, but the writing just didn‘t work, so everything fell apart at some point, sadly.

When adults are afraid of children, it will be the end of society.
A very good drama. You won't have even 1 minute to be bored. Good acting from all the actors. The emotional energy that ML transmits trough his eyes is powerful. For the first time in my kdrama watching i like FL shouting . it's nice, and her form of expressing, has a deep psychological understanding.It's called a fantasy, but I'm afraid is not. Many may say it's exaggerated. yes, some phases are exaggerated, to have an impact, because I always believe that Life beats Film. All fantasies are inspired by reality.
But I think not many people, especially teenagers, will not understand the seriousness and what messages are being sent through this drama. When adults are afraid of children, it will be the end of society. yes, because more are actually disconnected from their soul, values, connections need, many of them are superficial, don't have real knowledge and the hate grows more and more.
I think we are slowly we are heading towards a society without integrity... absolutely adrift... I wished to have this inspection Team in real life in all the countries.
And people that have values and integrity, and care for the communities will be so powerful, valuable, like as a luxury product.
Korean society scares me. the perfect world that they want to seduce us... for me it's started in the last months to crumble. now i understand why the suicide rate is so high in korea.
in many dramas alcoholism, hatred, malice against children from adults for certain mistakes, bullying, and in reality, on social platforms in Korea... from anything from such simple, small things... not knowing the truth. people, young people, teenagers do not realize the gravity and pain they put in society... probably this is the moon and suicide in the world of celebrities... I don't even want to imagine what happens in normal life, among ordinary people.
I recommend this drama. I wish they will make us a surprise, announcing a Part 2.

The First Jasmine (2026) — Review
The First Jasmine has been a delightful surprise, drawing me in immediately through its rich historical setting and the powerful performances of the leads in these early episodes. Bai Lu completely embodies Ye Li with a compelling blend of poise, cleverness, and subtle resilience. Her portrayal feels authentic and layered, making every quiet decision and emotional shift captivating to follow.Cheng Lei excels as Mo Xiu Yao, bringing a strong yet vulnerable presence that adds real gravity to his character. He conveys so much through restrained expressions and steady intensity, perfectly complementing Bai Lu. Their evolving relationship crackles with intriguing tension, mutual respect, and moments of warmth that make their interactions stand out.
The ensemble cast does an excellent job fleshing out the intricate web of court politics and family loyalties, creating constant undercurrents of suspense.
Visually, the drama is a feast exquisite costumes with beautiful detailing, grand yet atmospheric sets, and elegant cinematography that transports you straight into the period. The OST heightens emotions, perfectly syncing with both dramatic and reflective scenes.
What makes it even more engaging is how performances and production blend seamlessly every scene feels carefully crafted, from the smallest gestures to the sweeping visuals. It’s a drama that rewards attention and keeps you anticipating what’s next.

Second To Last Love was pretty good, in my humble opinion. I've seen WAY worse rom-com K-Dramas that I binge watched just to get to the end because the characters were awful and made stupid decisions. Second To Last Love was NOT one of them.The characters/family dynamic in this drama was believable, with each individual person having their own dilemma they had to work through. The back-stories of the two Main Leads was heart-breaking. Also, Shin Suk Ki was a good villain. I kept shouting, "Snake!" whenever he was on screen. That means I was invested.
I'm so glad Joon Woo did not get with Min Ji-Seon. I felt like he was sending her mixed messages, tho. I also thought Kang Min Joo did Joon Woo dirty. She only dated him because she was flattered that a handsome, young entrepreneur was interested in her. She didn't have the same romantic feelings for him that he had for her.
Having said that, I wasn't feeling Joon Woo and Mi Rye either. The actress who played Mi Rye looked all of 15 years old. Joon Woo looked 27-30. And they were practically siblings. It just felt awkward to me. I could see Joon Woo with one of Sang Sik's or Min Joo's female employees.
But since the show runners had Joon Woo and Mi Rye in a relationship I would have liked to see them make the move to Canada. It would have been a great life lesson that families change, but your love for one another doesn't.
I also was not feeling the characters Cha Soo Hyuk and Goo Tae Yun's (former student/teacher) relationship. It didn't even get a conclusion. The writers just left that plot thread floating in K-drama space.
I thought Soo Hyuk could have had a perfect enemies to lovers relationship with Na Joo Yeon's (the stuck up actress). That would have been a great second lead romance. Another one could have been between Min Joo's teacher friend, Goo Tae Yun's, and Producer Han Jeong Shik.
I would have liked to see more of "Hoon". The writers didn't give this character anything to do outside of being tutored by Min Joo's friend. Maybe the actor was working on more than one series?
And I was hoping that Sang Hee would kick her cheating husband to the curb. Granted, he had a legitimate complaint about his relationship with his wife- he felt neglected. But instead of talking to her about it, he emotionally cheated. Granted, that IS a believable plot structure, but the family just forgiving him and moving on without any consequences? What kind of message is that? He could have at least been kicked out of the family home. It also would have been nice if Sang Hee got a life outside of wife and motherhood. She was an excellent pianist. She could have gotten a job teaching at a prestigious music school.
Lastly, I'm okay with Sang Sik and Min Joo not getting married in the end. That was refreshing. They were together and in love. That's good enough for me.

Simple yet good.
Another K-BL and I'm starting to get anxious about watching them because I've seen so much bad rather than good. What I like about Korean Bl's is that they're sooo short so I can easily finish the series if it ends up being bad lmaoo. This series however, wasn't bad, unlike the others. It was simple but extremely good. I love how it strictly followed its plot and didn't add unnecessary things.This series got me surprisingly locked in. I was really curious whether or not to trust Jin Hwan and I just purely watched to see if Min Ju would forgive him just for the story to take a small turn. I just kept on wanting more of those flashbacks and I wanted to see more of the actions Jin Hwan did towards Min Ju and I kept on getting more curious.
They really left me on a cliffhanger and I just didn't believe Jin Hwan at first, he seems so sketchy and just... yeah. He just doesn't seem like someone I would trust either. Another thing to add to this is how I actually didn't expect Min Ju to forgive Jin Hwan and Jin Hwan was soooo fucking sketchy like everything he excused made 0 sense and honestly I assumed he was lying about everything.
Acting is really good, they really got me especially Chae Jong, It's sad he hasn't really been in any series or movies this year. I really look forward to see more of him. He might be the reason I was so locked in, he was truly captivating. I'm not even joking I was mesmerised at how good he acted the feelings out. What I also really liked was that he made it feel real, not the other characters (Sorry Seong). Feel like I can relate to Kim Min Ju extremely. I always have that feeling of not feeling good enough for someone. I also dated a popular dude years ago and I felt exactly how Min Ju felt, like I could be replaced any moment and I was scared he would stop liking me, but I also didn't wanna be to clingy to him.
I have read the Manhwa years ago so I don't remember much and I can't compare them but I am planning to reread it for sure to be able to differentiate between them. I do remember really like the Manhwa, it's sad I didn't know about the live action earlier.
I'm gonna be honest, on some aspects the series is good but could be improved, like more episodes and more character to the locations, but that's something I always like. Even if I think the surroundings were extremely empty I also like it at the same time because that empty love really goes well on it. I would've loved longer episodes and more in depth characters, especially side characters like the best friends of Jin Hwan. I think they didn't give us proper background information to add to that 'emptiness' but I'm just saying it would've been nice. .
I'm gonna be honest I was expecting them to get married hahhaha, but eyyy at least they cleared up their arguments.
