Joseon's Romeo and Juliet
The Princess's man is quite a great watch. It was set during the time of Grand Prince Suyang, later King Sejo of Joseon. It follows the quest of Prince Suyang before and till he claimed the throne.Fictionally, it tells the story of a man and woman whose deeply and selflessly in love with other. Seryeong, is the eldest daughter of Grand Prince Suyang. One day, she was told she will possibly be joining Kim Jongseo's second son, Seungyu, in conjugal ties. After visiting Princess Gyeonghye, her cousin to her father's side, she learned that Seungyu will be the new teacher of the Princess. Seryeong volunteered to attend the lecture instead while disguising herself as Princess Gyeonghye. The lovestory of our leads started that way. However, they are caught up in an intense family rivalry as Prince Suyang aimed to snatch the throne to his brother and nephew, while Kim Jongseo remained loyal to the current Munjong and Danjong regime . Turns out that the proposed wedding was a potical stunt by Prince Suyang. The story follows how the two families clashes with each other while sacrificing lives along the way. We will get to witness how Seungyu and Seryeong fought for their love despite the quandaries they face.
I have nothing against the all actors as they did really good portraying their characters. I commend all the actors down from the leads to the supporting actors. Emotions and expressions are really spot on and will make you feel the character's pain and joy.
Seungyu's story is so heartbreaking. Imagine, he lost his father, brother, teachers, and friends to the very father of the woman he loves. To add up, he was betrayed by Myeon whom he calls a dear friend. There was even a time when he was kept in the dark by Seryeong about her real identity, only finding out after the demise of his clan bought by Seryeong's father. Seungyu's character was heartbreaking and full of hatred, centered at taking vengeance to those vile people, especially Prince Suyang. Park Shi Hoo was able to portray that well, no doubt.
As for Seryeong, she was a loving daughter who looks up to her father only to discover how ruthless and greedy can he be, not minding who or how many will be sacrificed. She was torn between being a filial daughter to his power greedy father and on standing what was truly and humanely right. She was head on strong and brave for fighting what she truly think is right. Moon Chae Won did so much great in making life to Seryeong.
I can say that the flow of everything was great but it really bugs me every time Seungyu shows up in public. He is way too confident to roam around showing his face and the most hilarious part is that no one notices him, ever HAHAHA. There was even one time when he walked Seryeong into their old residence despite being hunted down. I think that was before Seungyu goes to Hamgil Province. It just doesn't sit right with me, he holds a government position and the son of Daeho Kim Jongseo, not everybody but someone might recognize him yet he roams like no problem at all.
One thing that makes me really sad about the drama is the wasted friendships between Seungyu, Jong, and Myeon. It was so heartbreaking to see them fall apart and be dragged by their father's intense conflict. Especially, everytime Jong begged both of his two dear friends to stop and reconcile. I remember Seungyu even said, "Leave all the aggravation to our fathers, and let us ignore it. ". If only Myeon resist his father a little longer or choose loyalty to his friends over tolerating his greedy father, then it could have been better. One thing that I could never understand is Myeon's character. Yes, he cried and say drunk himself but at the end of the day.. no, no remorse at all. Not to mention his desire to kill Seungyu to finally have Seryeong. Like dude, I didn't know you also like Seryeong, really, when and how did it happen?! You knew there was already something going on between your friend and Seryeong yet you do what?! I can't help but compare their friendship with the two male leads in "My Country, The New Age", the very reason why I started obsessing on following the lives of the Joseon Kings and the reason why I watched this drama to follow King Sejo's a bit slice of truth.
Either way, the drama was great. Superb storyline, great OST, packed with romance and action, set during one of the most intense time during the Joseon period, all in 24 episodes. Very recommended!
I was able to fill my curiosity about the reign after King Sejong the Great and King Munjong. The struggle of King Danjong against his Uncle King Sejo. Fictionally, I have enjoyed the story made out of it. It taught me to be brave, to love, and ultimately, to stand and fight for what I think is truly right and just.

Something is missing
I am a huge fan of reincarnation dramas but unfortunately this was not the one for me. I was expecting to really loved it a smart female lead and a reincarnation plotline are literally my 2 favourite combos in Asian dramas but unfortunately i didn't like this one as much as expected. It felt mid, like something was missing but i can't exactly explain what. The acting is ok,story is easy to follow, couples have good chemistry and plotlines are interesting but at the same time i felt like i was hurrying up to the finish line with this drama especially acter they got married that's when it just became a 2x speed type of show. At the same time it was interesting and nice to watch but not something i would go out of my way to reminisce about. Was this review helpful to you?

Fated by Time ! Can love can survive two Centuries?
The Story of Park's Marriage Contract is a true standout, blending historical charm with modern- day stakes in a way that feels both fresh and deeply emotional. Here is why it earns such a glowing review:
A Powerhouse Performance: As you
mentioned, Lee Se-young is incredible. She carries the show with a perfect balance of "fish-out-of-water" comedy and heartbreaking vulnerability. Her ability to portray a woman fighting for her agency in two different eras is what makes the story so grounding.
•Compelling Storytelling: The plot isn't just a simple romance; it's a fast-paced mystery regarding fate and reincarnation. The way the past and present timelines intertwine keeps you hooked, making every episode feel
essential.
Deeply Touching Themes: For any viewer who appreciates a story with soul, this drama delivers. It tackles grief and second chances with great sensitivity.
The emotional payoff is high because you truly root for the characters to break the cycle of their tragic destiny.
•Visuals and Chemistry: The cinematography is beautiful, and the spark between the leads turns a standard "contract marriage" trope into something genuinely moving and sincere. It's a must-watch for anyone who wants a story that is as meaningful as it is entertaining.

The best Drama there ever was!
Okay, where this drama stands out is the story progression. What this drama does so well, is it creates a perfect storm within this phenomenal story. I started watching this expecting it to be just another romance….but by episode 40 I was in complete awe and rendered speachless. my favorite part was the ultimate reveal when Uncle is in the cell telling Tutor Tao his whole truth. the way he explains that in full detail knowing that 17 years ago one drunken conversation resulted in everything that we saw happening was a whoa moment for me. Also the thing on repeat that’s woven into the story too is how the driving force to a lot of the tragedy here has a lot of love at the heart of it. secretly tho I was rooting for Qi Min and Yan to really mend things too. I know Qi Min was a monster but he truly did love Yan. I thought in the end when they were in the cell and he told her he just wanted them to live happily with her by his side and she explained how he could have had that but his pursuit of the empire is what caused this. When she cried I thought….she really did love him. he was just such a monster that she felt she had no choice and did everything for their son. Greatest watch! Was this review helpful to you?

Baby Soo Cutie - Broken Promises
The real star of the entire series is the baby. Adorable. After the death of his parents, this child is cared for by his maternal aunt and paternal uncle.
She (the protagonist of "The Witch"), He (the protagonist of "Check in Hanyang/Park's Contract Marriage Story"), just to name the actors.
This aunt's character started getting on my nerves starting in episode 4, when she makes so many promises and doesn't keep a single one. In fact, when the new director, her first love, arrives, she never says no, passes the responsibility on to her roommate, is unavailable, and then apologizes! A FOOL!
After episode 7, I put it aside for a while and struggled to pick it up again.
The ending wasn't bad, but it wasn't a series that thrilled me.
I'd blame the female lead for having this beaten-dog look even when she smiles, which should convey happiness.
Luckily, the child's charm made up for it, as did his acting and his connection with the cast. (Chegueo) The best.

A Historical Drama That Finally Gets Strong Female Leads Right
First of all, let’s talk about the concept. I’ve actually stopped watching a lot of Chinese historical dramas because of how female leads are often portrayed — sometimes they’re too weak, annoying, or just unnecessarily frustrating to watch. So I lost interest for a while. But then I came across Pursuit of Jade… and it completely changed that for me.
From the very first episode, the female lead, played by Tian Xiwei, came in with such strong, dominant energy. That alone hooked me. She’s not weak, she’s not irritating — she’s capable, bold, and stands her ground.
And the male lead, played by Zhang Linghe, matches her energy perfectly. Both leads are strong in their own ways, and that balance made the story even more enjoyable. It’s not one carrying the other — they grow and stand together.
What I really love is how the drama shows that sometimes the choices we make may not seem right at first, but they turn out to be the best decisions in the end. It also highlights trust, understanding, and not dragging misunderstandings unnecessarily.
Overall, this drama felt refreshing compared to the usual pattern, and that’s what made it stand out for me.”

"let's never see each other again"
first, let me say that I did not hate About Love even though this review may seem quite negative. in fact, I enjoyed substantial portions of it, particularly the character of Lao Gong and Gao Weiguang's performance with all its peculiarities, along with the underlying theme of the drama (if not its actualisation).to set a baseline, here's the list of all the characters I detested, in order most to least:
- Da Sen
- An Miu
- Yu's mother
- Xiu
- Lun
- Mingming
- Guan-jie
- Yu
- Bei
- Zhen
- Luanluan
- Li Xiaoxi
- almost every other person who came onscreen
those I liked: Lao Gong and Yingtao's didi (probably because they had a quality the others almost entirely lacked, straightforwardness and mostly honest communication)
therein lies the crux of the problem. there is a lot to dislike. the characters are mostly devastatingly unsympathetic, and each one should go completely no-contact with all the others. the toxicity multiplier effect is off the charts.
the music is gently offbeat but enjoyable. the cinematography, on the other hand, is not gentle but brash in its desire to be different, and occasionally feels like the beginning of a migraine. while I understand the vibe the director was aiming for and have praised other dramas for a similar expressionist-inspired tone, the underlying narrative and characters simply weren't strong enough to withstand this treatment and it ended up feeling try-hard rather than suave.
let me take a brief moment to trash the hairstyles because that is where the real headache makes itself felt. I have a most-hated ranking for these too but will leave you to choose your own fighter.
the acting was overall really decent, as you'd expect from the cast list. Gao Weiguang was a standout, and Wang Ziwen managed to make Li Xiaoxi far more rounded and less dislikeable than she had any business being. Liu Yuning's Bei, however, was an interesting study in how not to write a male lead. there have been plenty of complaints about his lack of screentime but this actually does him a favour because this character is just blandly slippery and has absolutely no points of interest to grab on to. more than once I wished he'd just pack up and move back to the UK.
the ending was a bit of a wash but amusingly meta in its failure to commit, given that none of the characters knew how to commit or end things properly either.
overall, an entertaining enough watch but will undoubtedly continue to irritate those who dislike messy melodramatic adult themes with cheating partners, as well as fans of romances and of Liu Yuning.

This is life
Ordinary scenes like skipping, walking, or even arguing over the gender of a bird aren’t usually the focus of a drama, but that’s exactly what they want to portray: the simple, everyday life the two of them shared. Much like in real life, there are only a few times where we celebrate special days or lament the darkest times; most of our lives are spent in ordinary days, and finding little joys is what makes them meaningful.I also think that this concept wouldn’t work if not for the strong performances and amazing chemistry the actors have shown in the drama. This applies not only to the main couple but also to Toki and Sawa, Heavin and Nishikori, the Matsuno family, and heck, even the innkeeper couple. They’re all perfectly in sync, from the bickering to sensing the slightest shifts in emotion. They are truly what made this drama with a simple concept worth watching.
Also worth mentioning that this is some *WOWOW level of cinematography, scoring, and direction you don’t normally see in a typical asadora. Not a shot missed; every angle has truly captured the best acting moments of each actor.
Bakebake perfectly captured the gentle atmosphere of domestic happiness. And it has been a joy watching as a quiet spectator to the ordinary but subarashii life that Jigoku and Shijimi had.

Chasing Jade (逐玉)
“Zhu Yu” (逐玉) — Pursing Jade — is a title layered with quiet poetry. Jade, in Chinese culture, is not merely a stone; it embodies purity, virtue, and inner worth. In this story, Fan Changyu is unpolished jade — raw, resilient, and shaped by hardship — while Xie Zheng is already refined, yet fractured within. Their journeys, both individual and intertwined, reflect a pursuit not just of identity and justice, but of each other. This symbolic foundation is one of the drama’s most beautiful strengths.📖 Story & Writing
At its core, the drama blends romance with a backdrop of long-buried secrets — especially the massacre that occurred seventeen years ago. The plot is engaging, but not groundbreaking. It is neither unparalleled nor truly unique, and I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece.
However, if you watch it simply for the experience — the romance, action, and emotional beats — it becomes undeniably enjoyable. For viewers like me who tend to dig deeper, analysing layers and details, both strengths and flaws become more visible.
The screenplay is solid, though not flawless. Some unrealistic elements — exaggerated fighting skills, overly polished appearances in battlefield settings — are noticeable. Still, considering its origin as a web novel, these choices feel somewhat justified.
What concerns me more is the lack of clarity in the later episodes. Key elements — like Meng Shuanyuan’s memorial tablet, the mention of the Sixteenth Prince, and the true motives of the villains — were introduced too abruptly and insufficiently explained. For viewers who haven’t read the novel, this becomes confusing. Compressing a long novel into 40 episodes was always going to be difficult, but the rushed execution here is a clear weakness.
⏳ Pacing & Structure
The pacing is uneven.
First quarter: Slow, but beautifully immersive. The calm atmosphere, growing emotional tension, and gradual uncovering of past secrets were genuinely enjoyable.
Final quarter: Noticeably rushed. Political conflicts, twists, and character arcs felt compressed, especially in the 30s episodes.
This imbalance makes the narrative feel slightly chaotic toward the end, despite a strong start.
💞 Romance & Chemistry
Even though I’m not someone who focuses heavily on romance, I have to admit — the chemistry between the leads is captivating. It’s tender yet passionate, soft yet intense. Some moments genuinely gave me butterflies 🦋.
That said, some transitions felt abrupt — particularly the emotional escalation in Episode 17. The shift in their dynamic didn’t feel fully earned.
The second lead couple also deserves attention. Their relationship carries a different tone — more tension, more emotional friction — and adds another engaging layer to the story.
🌾 Slice of Life vs War Narrative
One of my biggest frustrations is the imbalance between the slice-of-life elements and the larger plot.
The early episodes hint at a rich, grounded world — the female lead’s life as a butcher, village routines, local traditions — but this is never fully explored. These details could have added depth and authenticity. Instead, just as we begin to settle into that world, the story abruptly shifts toward military and political themes.
A more structured approach — deepening the small-town life first, then transitioning into war and ambition — would have made the narrative far more impactful.
⚔️ Politics & Themes
The political landscape is complex and, at times, deeply unsettling.
Different factions manipulate one another — some willingly, others out of desperation. Relationships between family members, lovers, and allies become entangled in power struggles, betrayal, and survival.
This emotional weight — the suffering, sacrifices, and moral conflicts — is one of the drama’s strongest thematic elements. It shows how lives continue to flow through war, palace intrigue, and societal pressures.
🎭 Acting Performances
The leads have shown remarkable growth compared to their earlier works. Their performances here feel more mature, more controlled, and more emotionally convincing.
The main couple handles both romance and action convincingly.
The second female lead delivers a strong performance.
The second male lead, though familiar with such roles, brings a particularly refined execution this time.
There are still minor flaws, but overall, the acting is solid and commendable.
🎥 Cinematography & Visuals
This is where the drama truly shines ✨
The cinematography is stunning — poetic, artistic, and visually immersive. As someone who has watched many C-dramas, I often notice repetitive camera work. But here, there’s a refreshing sense of originality.
Some shots even feel slightly AI-enhanced, adding a modern visual texture without breaking immersion. The director clearly has an artistic vision, and it shows in every frame.
🥋 Action & Fight Choreography
The fight scenes in the first half are dynamic and well-executed — they draw you in and elevate the drama’s intensity.
Unfortunately, the later fight sequences lose that same energy and become less engaging. This decline contributes to the rushed feeling of the final episodes.
⚖️ Final Thoughts
This is not a masterpiece — but it is absolutely watchable and highly likeable.
If you approach it casually, it’s an enjoyable drama filled with romance, action, and beautiful visuals. If you analyse it deeply, you’ll notice its structural flaws, pacing issues, and missed opportunities.
Still, its emotional resonance, compelling chemistry, and breathtaking cinematography make it worth the journey 💫

Fantastic series, but too short :(
PLOT: Qi Zhang is an "ordinary" high school student, raised by his mother who runs a restaurant, and who plays music in a band. He has a crush on Ye Guang, the elite high school student, trained by his parents to be the best at everything (but he has no life). To be able to study music abroad, Qi Zhang must become the Student Council President. Ye Guang's father forces him also to become the President . The two high school students will grow closer, appreciate each other (maybe even more), and gain confidence to face their problems.+++ The two leads, Li Zhen Hao and Shen Jyun, are fantastic, subtle, expressive, and moving. It was their first drama, but they managed to bring these young adults discovering love, confidence, and more, to life with intensity.
+++ A very cute second romance, with well-developed and endearing characters.
+++ An intelligently written story, with sensitivity and humanism.
+++ Flawless direction: pacing, sets, emotional shifts, costumes, etc.
+++ Amazing OSTs
### Lots and lots of clichés (accidental fall, poor but loving mother VS rich, absent but super demanding parents)
### It's a great series, but much too short. Viewers will be left frustrated if there isn't a season 2.
=> Cute, but it leaves you wanting more :)
****************************************************************
+++ OSTs géniales
### Bcp, bcp de clichés (chute accidentelle, mère pauvre mais aimante VS parents riches absents mais super exigeants)
### HE mais bcp trop courte. Le spectateur restera frustré s'il n'y a pas de saison 2.
=> Cute, mais on reste un peu sur sa faim :)

death
base on my perspectives, I think the Japanese movie with same title was more detailed. Both told same story which got me crying so bad wishing I could save him ….but death just had to come
I am glad because she had a great best friend who was ready to stand by her side.
the main leads are top notch and main lead actor he always knows how to act on his role.
The has a very sad story line and teaches a lot…
“DEATH ISN’T” something to think about
losing someone you love is very heartbreaking
losing the one you care about can make someone go crazy trying think it was all a dream, but reality hits them and at the end of all we all have to move on
the scars still there the pain still there when we remember but life goes on🫂

The Best Scripted Historical In 2026!!
I will miss the Marquis of Wu’an & the Flower Crowned General forever!!This was one of those shows that I started watching out of boredom, simply because I had nothing else to watch. But once I started, I was instantly hooked. Obviously, the main attraction is the butcher girl who rises to become a first rank Female General of Great Yin. Along the way, she saves a Marquis, kills rebels and emerges victorious. Tian Xi Wei shines in her rendition of Fan Chang Yu. The role seems tailor-made for her. Zhang Ling He plays her sidekick. It seems funny, but the mighty Marquis of Wu’an does seem slightly less majestic when compared to Fan Chang Yu’s butchering skills. They make such a formidable couple, you wonder who is more swoon worthy. Their fake marriage seems too real. Xie Zheng willingly turns into Yan Zheng, a matrilocal husband. For him, it is a journey of retribution, but for Fan Chang Yu, it is a sojourn of self-discovery. Somewhere down the line, boundaries begin to blur and romance is redefined!!
