Beyond conventional: plenty to ponder

Love and how to protect who and what you value are ideas explored in Pursuit of Jade, a folkloric tale of mythic proportions about a pig butcher whose provincial life is upended when she saves a mysterious stranger from certain death. Beyond a conventional romance, the characters retain their agency as they unearth the past and fight for their futures, with consequences both personal and epic. Blending politics, action, and glimpses of life in a fictional imperial China, this series is ideal for those who enjoy a banquet of trials, intrigue, symbolism, and a healthy helping of hope rooted in community.

why people aren't talking about this??

Finally, a Filipino series where everyone can actually act without overdoing it!
I've tried watching several Filipino series before, but I could never finish them because the acting often felt too exaggerated for my taste. None of them ever managed to keep me hooked.
I was honestly hesitant to start this one when the first episode came out, so I skipped it at first. But after six episodes had been released, I finally decided to give it a chance... and I ended up binge-watching all six episodes in one sitting!
First of all, the actresses were all amazing, but Reign Parani??? Girl... what was that performance?! Consider me your number one fan from now on. Every time she appeared on screen, I was completely captivated. Her acting, her screen presence, her beauty, everything was incredible. She deserves a 10/10 without question.
And the men? JC Alcantara... WOW. What an incredible performance! Please keep playing manipulative villains because you absolutely nailed this role.
I also loved the soundtrack, especially the main OST. The directing is fantastic, the story is gripping, and there isn't a single boring moment. Every episode leaves you desperate for the next one.
This is, without a doubt, my favorite Filipino series so far. If you're not watching it, you're seriously missing out!

I really wanted to love this...

I really did want to love this series. For a modern drama it had all the elements that I usually enjoy, I don't typically love romance only focused modern dramas with all the angst and misunderstandings that drive the plot. I also love Bai Jingting. BUT. Holy cow I wasn't just on the struggle bus trying to finish this series, I was driving. It took me days and days to finish it, it was easily 20 episodes too long. In my opinion there was zero chemistry between the leads and the relationship around the second leads was frustrating and irritating as well. The FL was unlike any neurosurgeon I've ever seen - clueless, no common sense, and most irritating of all was the obnoxious way she had of speaking with her lips constantly puckered and mumbling. I thought the baby talking FL in Hidden Love couldn't be topped for most annoying- never say never. There were some cool parts to the story line but honestly the only love story that I was most invested was her boss and his sister. All in all I would never watch this again and it didn't even have any moments I'd go back and rewatch like in a lot of my favorites- except where they were shooting and racked their pistols on the heel of their boots lol. This one was a big dud for me but I persisted and at least finished it out.

This was an ok medical mystery drama with an overarching serial killer case. I kind of wish they had done more with that aspect while they solved a mystery of the week. I liked the cast, especially Dean Fujioka as Dr. Mizusawa. I also, liked that each forensic doctor at the MEJ had their own episode to shine in as well.

I was a little disappointed at the reveal of the serial killer though as it just fell flat for me, most likely b/c I had a theory that Dr. Mizusawa's father was the killer. That was my error. However, the reason I thought that was b/c there was a flashback scene of him as a boy and I think he was taking to his father, and it felt very ominous. The person he was speaking to also made a comment about dead things needing to be left alone.

At least I finished it ...

The actors were great and the characters were ok ... chemistry between FL and ML was nice ... but why ... why do they have to regurgitate the same old, same old story?

The first few episodes were funny but then I realized that I have seen this series, over and over again. Nothing new, nothing different, just the same. I managed to finish this (only because I didn't want another unfinished show) at 2x speed and 10 seconds fast forward. Rated as high as I did because of the actors.

OST ... OK

Rewatchable ... definitely not.

Actors ... great

Characters ... OK

Nothing else to say really.

Solid and Satisfying!

After reading some of the reviews, I kind of felt like I watched a totally different drama than some others!

Doctor On The Edge's ratings surprised me as I thought, in fact, it delivered so much more than the medical rom com it was advertised to be.

For myself, it was a truly satisfying drama with just the right amount of emotional and comedic moments. Never so much comedy you cringed and the emotions, including the romances, checked all the boxes. I really never once wanted to "fast forward" through part of an episode but rather was really absorbed with each one...and felt kind of sad to see the drama end.

The story arc was easy to follow and well executed throughout. The stories inside the drama were really touching...giving us some insight into many of the supporting cast and even, at times, allowing for some good healthy tearing up. Those quietly poignant instances were beautifully done and remindful for me, of some of the stories that pulled at my heartstrings in the wonderful drama If You Wish Upon Me.

I thought the performances by the WHOLE cast were absolutely solid in this drama so kudos to the actors and the casting agency!

I also felt strong chemistry with both couples, lead and secondary: Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun were a great match; well balanced , kind of each others yin and yang. LJW is a favorite of mine and it was really nice to watch him in a drama I enjoyed all the way through!
Can I say, too, how happy I was to see that the talented and versitle Kim Yoon Woo from My Dearest was part of the second couple in DOTE. He played alongside a newbie for me, Lee Soo Kyung, who was captivating as the local nurse. They were also a well matched and gotta say adorable pair! And then, of course, shall we talk about Mr. Hong Min Gi? What a treat he is/was...

All in all I thought Doctor On The Edge a GREAT drama, and probably one I'll rewatch when I need something that strikes the right chord throughout and leaves me feeling good.

Love the story line and JCW is amazing

I loved how much the ML character loved wholeheartedly. Great supporting actors, throughout the whole series
i think Episode 15/16 were the weakest and the ending could have been a little bit more versus just waiting to the very last 10 minutes to resolve everything. but overall this was a really good series.

A reviravolta, revelações, segredos, conquistas...

Falando do nosso casal protagonista, LINDOS, quimica pura, história linda.

it's a solid show

Wow, just wow! Just finished watching Mo Li. This is my first review here, I just felt like dropping this. I almost missed out just because of the top reviews I saw....

All I can say is it's a solid show. I'm a sucker for a good plot, and something I can relate to, I guess that's why I always struggle watching most fantasy dramas. I took breaks in between, and anytime I came back to continue watching, I'm always hooked.

It has tragic scenes, and I believe that's the main plot of the drama anyway, and what sells it.

It's a well-written drama and definitely one of the top dramas I've seen this year.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

I really don’t write reviews, but OMG, I just had to for this one. I’ve watched countless BLs, and although this is a GL, I have to say it immediately outperformed almost every single BL I’ve watched. The acting, music, story, and CHEMISTRY were absolute PERFECTION! Especially the cinematography! The actors did a PHENOMENAL job and I can’t get over how pure and honest there emotions felt! I cried during probably every episode lol, and honestly, it felt so good because everything and I mean EVERYTHING was executed SO SO BEAUTIFULLY. I don’t know how more people don’t know about this show, but if you need a reason why, this is it WATCH IT NOW!

"Many people who can't be saved by the justice system are victimized by it instead"

Sins of Kujo is a law drama that focuses on Kujo Taiza, a defense attorney who specializes in cases involving the weak, the poor, and the wicked. Despite the fact that the judicial system promises representation for defendants, Kujo is treated as a pariah among other lawyers for the clients he takes on.

Defense lawyer Kujo Taiza harbors dark secrets and takes on cases others shun. He lives in a tent on the roof of the building he works in having lost everything in his divorce. He has no visitation rights to his daughter and has been completely disowned by his own family. The straightlaced Karasuma Shinji applies to work in Kujo’s practice with secrets of his own. Shinji finds Kujo’s clients distasteful and his methods aberrant. Social worker Yakushimae Hitomi drops in occasionally to help with clients in need of public assistance. Mibu Kengo, a yakuza fixer, helps on the fringe, for good or bad remains to be seen.

One of the things that worked for me in this drama was that there were no meaningful court scenes. We were privy to the actions before court and the resolutions afterwards. No long, drawn-out, overly dramatic speeches with each case. It was also interesting to watch a law drama that covered the gray areas and people. Kujo told Shinji to not confuse morality and the law. His clients were not people anyone in polite society was going to invite to dinner but they deserved to be properly represented just like everyone else. Not that anyone seemed to believe that. Other lawyers, the police, and citizens on the street considered Kujo a crooked lawyer because he represented criminals. He was threatened with prison often, nearly every episode, which I found confusing. Unless he did something illegal, being a defense attorney was an important cog in the wheels of justice. How was representing crooks any less ethical that representing corporate raiders who bled people dry on a grand scale? At least once an episode someone would bang on about how awful he was, despite the fact he also worked tirelessly to help victims and didn’t charge exorbitant fees. He was definitely an unorthodox human rights lawyer at times.

The work relationship between Kujo and Shinji never gelled for me. The connection between Kujo and the tattooed Mibu was far more intriguing. The social worker tended to show up at mealtimes and spent most of her scenes with Shinji. There was an incredibly repressed and narrow-minded activist lawyer that was dangled as a possible love interest for Kujo. Neither female character was written very well.

There was obviously a sinister connection between Kujo, Mibu, the yakuza Kyoguko, and detective Arashiyama though a frustrating dearth of clues as to what their connections were. Kujo was playing a long game but the writers were silent on what that game was. Something you do need to know about this drama is that it ends on a cliffhanger without resolving any of the issues that were hinted at for 10 episodes***. If no season 2 appears on the horizon, I’ll be dropping my score. Up until the last episode I would have rated this drama an 8 merely for not retreading overused law cases and tropes. I’d honestly put off watching this drama until a season 2 has been confirmed.

13 July 2026

Trigger warnings: A long finger lopping scene, nekkid tattooed buttocks, smoking, torture scenes, sexual assault alluded to in a flashback scene.

Snack note: these lawyers and friends ate and drank often so if seeing food triggers you to hit the frig you might need to find an appropriate snack or mindset beforehand. XD

Spoilery thoughts below regarding the unanswered and unasked questions

Why didn’t Kujo have any visitation rights with his daughter? Was that his choice?
What is the dark secret connecting Kujo and Mibu? They both obviously want to take down Kyogoku.
Was Kujo that absurdly stupid to take and then give back Morita’s phone?
He said he wouldn’t leave it to the courts if a loved one of his had been murdered. Why did we never meet his wife?
Was Shinji’s dad truly into a shady business or was it just a salacious news story?
What really brought Shinji to Kujo?
What was the real reason Kujo was disowned by his family? That one case didn’t seem reason enough for such drastic action.
What is Kujo’s brother up to?
How did Kujo’s dad die?
How was the estrangement connected to Shinji’s family?

Usually, dramas drop a juicy clue before the cliffhanger. Not this one. Combined with not knowing if there will be a season 2, those are the real Sins of Kujo.

Wowowowow! The right amount of comedy, drama and action sequences, I was definitely not bored, I basically watched it in 2 sittings. Eunbin is delightful as always, it was so fun to watch her in a role similar to her hello my twenties phase- her range never ceases to amaze me! Also Eunwoo was fantastic in this, I was a bit worried about him paired with a power house like Eunbin, but they complimented each other so well and their chemistry was amazing! The whole ensemble did a great job, and I was really invested in all the wunderkids storylines. I also think they have set themselves up tremendously for a season 2, god i hope they give it to us! I would love to see the main 3 more confident in their powers and more development of their backstories...

A dating show full of suspense and emotion

I was first drawn to this show by its unique premise, something so different from any American dating shows I've heard of. I'm not sure how I expected that premise to be executed, but I definitely wasn't prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions! I fell in love with all the cast members and found myself rooting for all of them, no matter their role. I really enjoyed watching their adventures together and the bonds they formed <3

However, even though I gave the cast a 10, I can't give a full 10 to the show overall because by the final confession, the premise was feeling kind of cruel towards the women who fell in love but had to break their own hearts and the hearts of the men they loved. I enjoyed the show a lot and I know they all knew what they were signing up for, but I just wanted everyone to somehow get their happy ending Leer más
