Very well done, realistic

I really like this drama! The plot is the Crazyville ridiculous... The plot is about two middle class families resolving issues because a man left his wife and 2 sons to live with the wive's friend ... and have a daughter with her.
The 1st wife never officially divorced him, so when he died, there was a LOT of problems bc of the paperwork and gossip - his 2nd "wife" was shunned by the society bc she was not "the wife"

So anyways the plot is real, and the actors are mostly very good.
ML surprised e bc he started as a poker face, so boring, but since he met FL he is super charming smiley.
FL's mom is 10000% staunch narcissist but she is practical and gets things donw.
1st wife is bitter but a a good person, giving, nourishing, fair
1st wive's sons are ... wow younger is a hypocritical angry IMMATURE food, and older one is a nice guy but is under the spell of his wife Anaconda Mei, she curled up all around him and is suffocating him... making him do evil stuff with her...
FL is an honest decent person
and ML too. But - both are burdened by their moms, who are both materialistic and greedy. FL's mom is smart and ML's mom is dumb

So anyways, the relationship between ML and FL is quite healthy, so that is promising, they have excellent dialogues

In other words, THE SCRIPT IS NOT STUPID HERE :) RELAX AND ENJOY WATCHING

Yanlış Kişiye Yazılan, Doğru Kalbe Ulaşan Mektuplar ?

Bu film tam anlamıyla insanın içini yumuşacık yapan, izlerken istemsizce gülümsediğiniz tatlı Japon gençlik filmlerinden biriydi. Konusu aslında yanlış kişiye bırakılan bir mektupla başlıyor. Nozomi, okulun popüler çocuklarından Jun’un kendisine âşık olduğunu düşünerek onunla gizlice mektuplaşmaya başlıyor ama bir süre sonra mektupların aslında en yakın arkadaşına yazıldığını öğreniyor. İşin kötü tarafı ise Nozomi’nin bu sırada Jun’a karşı gerçekten bir şeyler hissetmeye başlaması… Nozomi’nin gerçeği söylemek isteyip bir türlü cesaret edememesi bazen beni biraz sinirlendirdi ama onun açısından düşününce de anlayabiliyorum. Çünkü başta küçük bir yanlış anlaşılma gibi görünen şey, duygular işin içine girdikçe söylemesi çok daha zor bir hâle geliyor. Bir taraftan Jun’la mektuplaşmaya devam etmek istiyor, diğer taraftan da her geçen gün onu kandırıyormuş gibi hissediyor. Üstelik Nozomi zaten duygularını açıkça dile getirebilen biri değilken Jun tam tersine düşündüğünü doğrudan söyleyen, oldukça açık ve enerjik biri. Bu zıtlıkları da ikisini birlikte izlemeyi daha tatlı hâle getirmiş. Ben özellikle mektuplaşma kısmını çok sevdim. Günümüzde her şey mesajlaşma üzerinden ilerlerken küçük kâğıtlara yazılan cümlelerin bu kadar heyecan yaratması çok hoşuma gitti. Bir mektubu bulmak, cevabını beklemek ve söyleyemediğin şeyleri yazarak anlatmak filme ayrı bir masumiyet katmış. İkisinin birbirlerini yüz yüze tanımadan önce yazdıkları aracılığıyla yakınlaşmaları da bence filmin en güzel tarafıydı. Jun dışarıdan bakıldığında klasik popüler ve rahat çocuk gibi görünse de zamanla onun da düşündüğümüz kadar yüzeysel biri olmadığını görüyoruz. Nozomi’ye karşı davranışları, onun sessizliğini fark etmesi ve küçük ayrıntılara dikkat etmesi çok tatlıydı. Başrol oyuncularının enerjisini de birbirlerine oldukça yakıştırdım. Özellikle beraber oldukları sahnelerde o gençlik filmi havasını güzel vermişler. Film elbette çok karmaşık ya da şaşırtıcı bir hikâye anlatmıyor. Bazı gelişmeler önceden tahmin edilebiliyor ve “Gerçeği artık söylesenize!” dediğim anlar da oldu. Ama zaten bu filmi izlerken büyük ters köşeler beklememek gerekiyor. Daha çok ilk aşkın heyecanını, yanlış anlaşılmaları, söylenemeyen duyguları ve insanın kendisi olarak sevilme isteğini anlatan sıcak bir yapım. Bu filmi çok tatlı buldum. Hafif, huzurlu ve romantik bir şeyler izlemek istediğinizde açıp rahatlıkla izleyebileceğiniz bir film olur. Mektuplar, okul ortamı ve başrollerin uyumu sayesinde insanı lise yıllarına götüren masum bir havası vardı. Aşkın bazen yanlış kişiye yazılmış bir mektupla başlayıp doğru kişiye ulaşabileceğini gösteren, yüzümde gülümsemeyle bitirdiğim sevimli bir filmdi.

intriguing and intense, but could have been better

Korea has become known for its complex, intelligent, carefully crafted, and well-executed “who-done-it” mysteries. These stories require almost impeccably good plot development and writing - even more so when they add a science fiction element as they do here. When it works (“Flower of Evil”, “Mouse”, "My Perfect Stranger"), it can result in top quality TV. When it doesn’t, you end up with a convoluted mess.

This series falls somewhere in between. While intriguing and intense, it has a few notable plot holes and inconsistencies. They should also have done a lot more with the FL given that the character had some real potential to add a different dynamic to the story. At least they do a decent job with the parallel worlds concept and the way butterfly effects can result when someone crosses over to a world that is not their own.

very short series

Overall: I'm confused if there are only 5 episodes total because that did not seem like a final episode. Each episode is about 1 minute long. Available on https://bloomhd.com/series/2/watch/10 (no English subtitles, I used the Thai subtitles and then my phone camera/auto translate though not sure the subtitles helped me much).

There's no introduction, just dude A is in a locker room with dude B. Dude B says dude A is late and therefore must scrub the bathroom which he does. Then at the pool, dude A challenges dude B to swim laps. What happens is completely tropey. I didn't feel much chemistry between the two.

High Quality Wuxia

Well, this drama got all the ingredients to please me the most, maybe to be the best wuxia ever seen, thanks some good elements that I could feel even without start to watch.

The cast. Yang Yang is an excelent performer, I liked him a lot, and all the dramas I have seen before with him are backing my expectatives. I never forget his performance in old dramas like Whirlwind Girl, so simple, so patient, so wonderful, or Martial Universe, with a complete different role, but the same high level performance. I loved until more his character in The Inmortal Ascension, with superb fighting skills, and of course I was waiting to see him in this long awaited drama. Well, it hasn’t disappointed me, and I can easily say that this is his best performance in martial level; the choreography is incredible, without cgi or nonsense effects, all here is made with the actors prowess and the wirework, and the result is the best ever seen, I can’t deceiving myself. My favourite dramas are often pure wuxias, and Zhan Zhao Adventures is one of them.

Alen Fang, while his performance in martial skills is indeed wonderful, where it stands out the most is in playing tricks or deceiving people, hahaha. His character adds more “color” to the scenes, the dialogues, etc. It is funny to watch, the classical rogue who can achieve anything simply by talking, hahaha.

The female cast, I had average sensations. Zhang Ruonan was fine in her role and plays beautifully all the fighting scenes, but I feel that maybe her character could have been more developed; no clear goals, always following the others, without clear purpose. A lot different is the case of Zhang Yuxi; her performance as the Moon Envoy is really a highlight on the drama, and the plot of her revenge is somewhat incredible, pure wuxia, it has really surprised me. I have seen her in Love and Redemption and a little bit in Destiny and Saving, and I was not really convinced with her skills, but here is totally different and all her appearances are simply wonderful. It’s a shame that ahead episode 19 the character dissapears, a real shame. I praise her a lot, what a magnificent performance by this actress.

The martial choreography. I believe it was the strongest point of this drama. All of the cast was excellent in his/her performance, not only the mail leads but all the support roles. The fights are real, credible, and often are not in weapon based fights but rather in pure martial arts movements, sometimes bare knuckle, something that is not that common in wuxia, of course.

The amazing settings, the wonderfully crafted costumes, the magical filmed landscapes and scenarios, everythings works perfectly and adds an aura of quality that turns this piece into a little work of art, there are no doubt about it. Superb!

The lack of romance. This is something that fits perfect in this kind of fighting centered dramas. There’s no need of romance in each and every drama, always, of course, and in ZZA there are not nothing about it. The total Independence of the Moon Envoy character, with her motivations aside from nothing but revenge is something that I praised the most, there is no need to entangle certain romance around every female character.

Long story short, the series is amazing, very amusing, well crafted and I can’t do anything but recommend it. Thumbs Up!!!

Before anything else, let me just clarify and reiterate that this drama is titled Red Sorghum primarily because that's where they performed the 'deed' and where the tragic ending occurred, and not entirely because of the essence of winemaking. 🤣

I don't think I can start this review any other way than to express my indifference and contemplation on how I should feel about this drama. I am torn trying to decide whether to start a rant about how revolting the narrative was—completely brushing aside the fact that it is closely referenced on real life events—or give this production a staggering round of applause for its impeccable depiction of the excruciating, harrowing, and impoverished quality of life during the Minguo period. I am in distress!

From the very start, I was welcomed with multiple layers of explicit, disturbing, and violent content on top of one another, which on the surface may have seemed like a friendly reminder but in reality was a blatant warning that the journey ahead will be an utterly appalling, despicable experience—one that's heavily centered around scornful, contemptuous, and revolting events. Therefore, anyone planning to watch it better brace themselves and proceed only after taking extreme precautions by setting up proper expectations, performing thoughtful deliberation, and adopting a more receptive, broader perspective of the writer's intentions, as it is a piece that will undeniably induce growing animosity the more you watch it.

If there's a collective characteristic I truly disdain and feel disgusted by in this drama, it would be the legion of vile and nasty elements (abuse, cruelty, violence, murder, abduction, infidelity, rape, to mention a few) that were brazenly woven together and later meticulously wrapped in profound devastation, injustice, and suffering to create a seamless facade that masks the underlying inherent grim nature of this story. I was literally speechless after watching the first quarter of the drama because I never expected the theme to be this heavy and messy, that if someone were to ask me if I liked it or enjoyed it, I would answer, "Yes, with still reluctance and misgivings." Because despite my unquestionable irritation and frustration towards the narrative's brutal and unvarnished abhorrent depictions, there still are several aspects that made me stay seated and stick to watching the show. However, I don't think I can ever deny the reality that I was completely horrified, disturbed, and revolted multiple times due to the extremities of the story's premise—this is despite the fact that I grew up watching soap operas heavily induced with such content, yet I still struggle to sit through the show without flinching, especially since it's mostly women who are subjected to those atrocious and unjustifiable acts.

Conversely, I want to commend this production for effectively executing its core concept by masterfully embodying the turbulent, chaotic, and messy plot devices. It allows the story to retain its raw, bold, passionate, and unadulterated depiction of the scenes without holding back, serving us an exceptionally poignant and realistic presentation that enabled viewers to remain deeply invested in the narrative despite the inherent dark and sadistic nature of the writing.

Looking back at the time I spent watching this show, I must say that this is truly an interesting, bewildering, and evocative story that relentlessly went against and defied my expectations. It kept me guessing and had my anticipations high because nothing ever went the way I anticipated. The sheer unpredictability of the plot left me at my wit's end countless times for how uniquely unconventional they moved the story forward and how vastly unexpected and different the direction they took in each plot point compared to the majority of the dramas out there. I even reached a point when I started questioning my own comprehension as I struggled to determine if I was simply getting lost in translation or the story was just too eccentric and audacious that I ended up feeling led astray and lost multiple times. It was a writing style that never ceased to render me in shock for how frustrating and annoying it was, but at the same time, satisfyingly entertaining the entire time.

This is a drama that left me dumbfounded, seething out of frustration countless times because of the multiple scenes that never failed to make me go "Huh? This doesn't seem right...?" yet never failed to entertain me with their unconventional, audacious takes. It's one of the rare dramas I completely enjoyed despite its unusual storytelling. A production that left me in utter awe and made me realize how Minguo rural dramas are truly done differently—raw, dull, and almost bleak yet simultaneously full of hope because of the invigorating will, resilience, and enthusiasm of people to simply survive and live a better life.

The part of the story that left me completely speechless, out of sheer disappointment, was seeing a solid, promising climax wasted by an anticlimactic ending. Up until this point, I still cannot comprehend how we ended up with such a tragic, open-ended story when it could have easily been a satisfying, closed-ended one, especially considering its staggering 60 episodes. Like, what was their intention in leaving us hanging after killing almost everyone? Even the FL was not spared! They could have easily utilized her death as fuel to ignite the fire and retaliate even harder—but they did not. Seriously, where is their commitment? Geez! I was genuinely waiting for more, as I somehow thought it had 65 episodes given how much was left to uncover, so I was utterly baffled when they just ended it right there and then. This is a total disrespect I never foresaw and will never forgive. Ever!

That said, let me list down some of the scenes that stood out to me in a negative way for how ridiculously questionable and infuriating they are:

• The relentless and blatant drive to persecute the male lead, Yu Zhan Ao. They cornered him so hard that it eventually forced him to become a fugitive—or, as Jiu Hao San claims, a bandit. He was pushed beyond his limit, leaving him at a point of no return. It's absurd how he was always blamed for the inadvertent deaths of the people around him when it's technically not his fault, making it feel heavily contrived after the third instance. Those people died due to their own misactions and incompetence, yet he still ended up being blamed anyway. It's like the heavens were playing games with him, forcing him down a corrupted path when all this time he had been working hard to live a simple, earnest life.

• The countless times Jiu Hao San committed such immoral and wicked deeds. I've lost count and totally forgotten the many instances where he crafted such vicious and vile plans, so I have decided to simply provide a couple of examples of his heinous acts. Among them were how his insecurity and doubtful views of Yu Zhan Ao inevitably forced him to become a fugitive, and how he opted to use Jiu Er and Yu Zhan Ao's children as hostages. Absolutely despicable!

• The plot in which Jiu Er was forcing her son, Dou Guan, to address Shu Xian as Mother—that entire sequence was so exasperating that I was left with nothing but pure rage toward Jiu Er the whole time. I can't imagine how horrified and traumatized Dou Guan must have been! One of the most incredibly loathsome plots in the story.

• Jiu Er's uncalled-for remorse after her plan succeeded as retaliation for Shu Xian's failed abduction scheme. I commend Shu Xian for keeping an unapologetic stance—acting as if she had not orchestrated such a malevolent act—as it proves her unwavering commitment and dedication to her goal. What I can't stomach though, was her audacity to act victimized over her ruined reputation right after the success of Jiu Er's payback scheme, when she was literally being shamelessly unapologetic about her own actions just one episode prior! What a hypocritical crybully! However, believe it or not, what pissed me off the most was how Jiu Er immediately felt remorseful and tried to appease and console Shu Xian. I understand Jiu Er's actions given how kind-hearted she is, but she should remember how Shu Xian ordered the bandits to have her abducted and killed, whereas she only planned to ruin her reputation. If Shu Xian cannot accept such retaliation, then why act so vilely in the first place? She deserved it! If she wished to take her own life after that, then that was her choice. She brought it upon herself as a direct consequence of her own atrocity!

• Luo Han's double standard in blaming Jiu Er for Shu Xian's demise. He was a total hypocrite. I will never fathom how he could blame Jiu Er for Shu Xian's demise, considering it was simply the aftermath of her own actions. I was so mad when he directed all the blame toward Jiu Er, especially since all this time he had been standing right in front of Shu Xian—defending her, shielding her, and justifying her wrongdoings. So he should be held responsible instead! I appreciate his initiative to save Jiu Er and how he kept his morals and logic intact most of the time, but I can never overlook how he always undermined and passed off Shu Xian's obsession, greed, and misdeeds as a mere byproduct of her long years of suffering, endurance, and hard work serving the Shan family, expecting people to just move on after damage had been inflicted, trust broken, and respect lost. Grrr! I am so infuriated. The only redeeming factor of his character was his devotion to his passion and to the women of the Shan family—even though it's as clear as day that he is biased toward Shu Xian.

• Jiu Er blaming Yu Zhan Ao for Luo Han's death. It was one of the scenes that made me go, "Whuttt?" Yes, Yu Zhan Ao failed to save him, but it was never his fault that Luo Han's unyielding morals and principles inevitably led him to his own death. I would even argue that Luo Han was insensitive and selfish for not thinking about his wife before taking that action, which eventually resulted in her choosing to die with him.

If I were to mention a remarkable scene that will forever be etched in my mind whenever I think of this drama, it would be Jiu Er's childbirth scene. It was hands down my favorite scene in the story. From the schemes, the build-up, the panic, the tension, and the emotional payoff right after, everything came together and created an unforgettable experience that went above and beyond! It was absolute perfection in every way, which also proves that kindness always pays off.

What stood out the most though was Zhou Xun's portrayal. What a stellar actress! She's the backbone of the story, and this drama would be nowhere near as phenomenal without her. I especially loved all of her juicy confrontation scenes, where she uses sharp, paradoxical wit to mask her sarcasm—frequently leaving the other person in utter disbelief and deep reflection. Those scenes were satisfyingly delicious. I consumed them very well.

In retrospect, I think this show's greatest underlying message has always been: In turbulent times, all you need is a woman—one who lightens your gloomy day, pulls you up when you are down, puts logic into your life, and guides you back to the right path. One who will stay and always choose you at all times—over and over again, no matter how dangerous and tough life gets. This passage ironically explains the ending, because after Jiu Er died, the whole show ended. Hahaha!

In conclusion, this story is packed with unconventionally frustrating plot points that left me feeling helpless and dumbfounded by how insanely unreasonable they were. What made it even worse, aside from the ending, were the tactless and thick-faced characters who shamelessly lectured everyone on righteousness while their own actions contradicted their every word. It pissed me off endlessly, yet I just couldn’t bring myself to walk away.

P.S. I just want to dedicate this final section of my review to our Female Lead, Dai Jiu Lian/Jiu Er. She is Audacious, Bold, Courageous, Decisive, and Resolute. She is in a league of her own, a force to be reckoned with, and the very definition of "Who runs the world? GIRLS!"

Story - 8.0, Trust me, I so wanted to rate this higher, but the ending just spoiled everything for me. I had already ignored and exhausted every ounce of rationality within me just to look at the logical side of the narrative—no matter how harrowing and heinous it had become. So, giving us such a disappointing ending in return after all that tolerance was just too much for me to forgive.

Acting/Cast - 9.5, Truth be told, this show got an overall impressive ensemble. I will never be able to stress enough how satisfied I am with this lineup. Aside from the dubbing on Zhu Yawen—which was such a pity—the only performance I found lacking among the main cast was Wang Zijia as Xiao Yan. My top high praises still go to both Yu Rongguang and Qin Hailu, while my highest praise goes to none other than Zhou Xun. She's the very epitome of calm and collected to me, and I just love her unbreakable composure amidst all unprecedented calamities. She is the reason why I can't hate Jiu Er, no matter how annoying she is sometimes. Her face etches the very word kindness—one where, no matter what, you know she will do you no harm. Truly an immaculate portrayal.

Music - 8.0, The only song that left a lasting impression on me was the poignant opening theme. It is the only song I can recall from this drama, aside from the woeful, melancholic tunes played during the heartbreaking scenes.

Rewatch Value - 7.0, The sole reason you can have me watch it again, given its daunting episode count, is for Zhou Xun and her alone. Although I can grasp the logic behind the scenes—only after undergoing rigorous reflection—even those upsetting and seemingly illogical ones, it was still completely disappointing for a lengthy drama to have a tragic ending, given that they could have used the overwhelming 60 episodes to produce a much more reasonable and worthy conclusion. What a letdown.

Overall - 8.5, Watching this was never an easy journey, given its heavy and dark theme, but despite that, I still found myself binge-watching the entire show without even a tiny skip within 8 days, which says a lot since I can typically finish a drama of 30 to 40 episodes within 6–7 days. One thing is for sure: this show got me utterly hooked and greatly entertained, despite all its negative aspects.

I first saw “Bulan Mantra” on a streaming platform, but there was no English subs available. Normally, 40 Episodes would scare me away but “Bulan Mantra” had the following highlights that intrigued me:
1. A sweet poster of Chippy.
2. Time-travel
2. Reincarnation
3. A boran setting
4. Love that transcends time
5. A devoted ML

This is why, when years later I happened to find out that it had been subbed (& the subber, Thippy, herself recommended it) — I immediately jumped right into it!

After completing this lakorn, here are what I liked and what I didn’t like.

What I Liked About The Show

1. The Premise & the Potential
— I have always found the concept of reincarnation, time travel, and a devoted male lead who waits for the FL, extremely appealing. This show did all of the above quite well. The logic & “how to” behind the time-travel was well-thought and executed. The male lead was so devoted he waited more than 300 years for the FL. I was sold! 💸

2. Decent Characters
— I don’t appreciate shows that focus on the main leads, and treat everyone else as convenient plot pawns that are used simply to push the love story of the leads forward.

Bulan Mantra managed to focus on multiple characters at the same time — in a decent capacity and with passable complexity. The three focal areas consisted of (1) The leads, their love story & their arc with Nagini as well as the MLs heartbreak, (2) The Crown Prince and the palace power struggle in the form of his step brother who wanted to usurp the throne, and Concubine Yisun who chose power of the ML and planed to rule as queen, and finally (3) The third supporting pair who had their own struggles with a jealous friend turned foe.

I appreciated that the characters were, in fact, three-dimensional. In the boran setting, no one was evil for the sake of being evil. Everyone had their ambition, their respite, and their deliverance.

3. Adequate World-Building
— The drama incorporated was not as limited in its sets and locations as I have experience with and so I found it impressive that I was not just seeing the same 3 locations EP after EP.

4. The Acting
— The actors were decent, and not too choppy. I was able to immerse in their craft and believe who they wanted me to believe they were.

5. The Soundtrack
— This could also be a limitation because all I remember is a single song that played in almost every scene. Chippy sang the soundtrack and her voice was very recognizable, especially when she attempted to hit the higher note. None the less, I thought her less than professional skills managed to bring a unique level of authenticity into the scenes so it wasn’t a fail. I do wish they had more songs though.

6. The Intimacy
— While I am no chaser of intimacy in shows, I was still pleasantly surprised by how forward the characters were by usual Lakorn standards. I saw more than one scene with a full back during an intimate scene, and the female and male did not shy away from kissing like normal human beings do — as opposed to the tight lipped touching that I normally see in shows.

7. The Overall Vision
— I could genuinely see what the production team was attempting to do, and the story itself was not too bad.

What I Didn't Like :

1. The Modern-day storyline
— As rich as boran-arc was, how the story was set in the modern time was just as weak and lackluster. While it was full of tension and adrenalin (because the evil step brother and step mother were hunting the FL down to kill her over her inheritance), I think if they decreased the crazy in the modern setting a little bit, they "return back to the future" arc would have been a lot more interesting to watch.

2. The Third Timeline
— I genuinely do not think it was necessary. Everything that they needed to wrap up, and all the loose ends could have been done within the initial modern-timeline had the storyline been set better. While I understand why they did it (because the initial modern-setting was so "pow pow pow i will kill you!!") ... overall, It did not work for me personally.

3. Unnecessary Character Arcs
— I did not appreciate certain side-character arcs that they took. One particular one being the third friend of the ML and the SML who also liked the Second Female Lead (SFL) and went crazy when she chose the SML over him. So much so that he turned into a traitor...was killed..then brought to life as a zombie... then killed again... I would have been just fine not seeing all that.

Overall, I think this drama genuinely had an interesting premise and a lot of potential. Throughout the majority of the show, it was a solid 8/10 for me. However, as soon as the third timeline dropped on my head, I couldn't help but bring the rating down to a 7.5/10.

Nonetheless, since the lakorn managed to pull me back into watch lakorn. I will give credit where credit is due.
I would definitely recommend.

A Love Built on Trust and Choice

First off, the chemistry between Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei was amazing. The way Yan Zheng looks at Fan Changyu is filled with restraint and admiration, while she matches that energy with quiet strength and emotional control. It never feels one sided. Instead, it feels like they’re continuously choosing each other through subtle actions. Even when circumstances force them apart or make them act distant, you can still feel how deeply connected they are underneath it all. Their longing for each other was intense in the best way. You could feel their love building, especially in the quieter moments. The separation and restraint only made their romance feel more meaningful because their connection felt earned.

This drama is refreshing because both characters develop feelings for each other relatively early. Although he initially enters her life while hiding his identity and carrying the burden of revenge, his feelings gradually become genuine because Fan Changyu sees him as a person rather than someone defined by his past or status. What truly solidifies his feelings is realizing that she isn’t someone who only says she cares about him. She’s someone who will put herself in danger for him. When she returns to save him after ensuring her sister’s safety, he understands that her love comes from genuine concern rather than obligation. Fan Changyu falls in love with Yan Zheng because of his understanding and support. Despite being a pig butcher’s daughter, Yan Zheng never looks down on her background or sees her work as beneath him. Instead, he respects her strength and accepts the parts of her that others might judge. Fan Changyu takes longer to recognize her feelings because she has spent most of her life in survival mode. She’s always been the one protecting her family and carrying burdens alone. When Yan Zheng enters her life, she finally has someone who shares that responsibility instead of leaving everything on her shoulders.

The scene at the start of episode 17 perfectly shows how differently they approach love. Yan Zheng claims he’ll marry a gentle, domestic woman, while Fan Changyu says she would rather have someone warm and scholarly. Neither statement is true. They’re both describing the opposite of each other because admitting they want one another feels too vulnerable. They say hurtful things because they’re trying to hide how much they actually care. Yan Zheng has always been someone who keeps his emotions controlled. He carries the weight of his revenge, identity, and responsibilities without allowing himself to be vulnerable. The kiss isn’t just about romance. It’s his desperate attempt to express feelings he can’t put into words. Instead of saying “I love you,” he tries to show her how much she means to him before leaving. The second time Yan Zheng kisses her shows his internal change. At first, he believes protecting her means walking away. But after seeing her reaction to him leaving, he realizes he doesn’t simply want to protect her from afar. He wants a future with her. He finally begins to see Fan Changyu not as someone fragile who needs protection, but as someone strong enough to stand beside him. Asking her to wait a year shows that he knows he must resolve the danger surrounding him, but it also shows that he’s finally admitting he wants her in his life.

This moment highlights how differently Yan Zheng and Fan Changyu view love. Yan Zheng believes loving someone means protecting them, even if that means leaving them behind. Fan Changyu was a truly special female character: strong, dependable, and compassionate. What I appreciated most was that her strength never came from being cold or invincible. She worked hard, carried the responsibility of supporting her family, and never hesitated to step up when the people she loved needed her. Even though she started as an ordinary pig butcher with no status or influence, she earned everything through her determination, resilience, and willingness to keep moving forward. She wasn’t waiting for someone to save her or define her worth. She made her own choices, stood by her convictions, and fought for the life she wanted while remaining kind and caring toward those around her. She was capable without losing her compassion and confident without overshadowing the people beside her. It was refreshing to see such a well written strong female character whose strength felt natural and authentic rather than forced. The line, “I’ll slaughter pigs to take care of you,” was simple but surprisingly powerful. It shows her devotion in such a grounded way and fits her character perfectly. Although she doesn’t have the same status or resources as him, especially since he kept his identity hidden, she never holds back. She gives everything she can to build a life with him and stand beside him, making their relationship feel even more sincere.

it's has been awhile since I have watched a good movie

this was a journey to be honest, and I definitely enjoyed it..I don't know why people are rating it this low...this was actually a good movie in many angles... some things could have been better but it was a good movie compering to movies that have been coming out those days

Firstly, I decided to watch it without any high expectations. Although the director has a masterpiece like Train to Busan, I thought expecting something similar would ultimately disappoint me. So, starting with modest expectations, it impressed me.

I was into it enough to say that I had to pause surprisingly for a couple of times throughout the movie just relax a bit😭

The idea of a colony and zombies that can communicate and evolve is something I've never seen in a zombie movie before. It was a brilliant idea, in my opinion, and it gave the film a different perspective from what we're used to seeing. It gives it the enthusiasm and excitement that keeps you on your toes.. I liked that and enjoyed it👏👏

and I like the hints that are thrown here and there too👏

and the star of this movie to me is no one other than the villain👏

koo kyohwan the actor you are👏😩😩❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 the whole movie i was just completely focused with him... great performance to a character that didn't get enough explanation 👏

one of the disappointments is that it could have more of back stories and characters could have given more depth to them but it didn't ruin the journey for me I enjoyed it this way too...

the main reason I didn't give it 10/10 it's because the the last part of the movie with him reasoning why he did all of that could have actually been better or they could have give us the needed back story for us to understand his mindset more cause it simply wasn't enough...also the the relationship between his father and the professor wasn't shown completely i didn't see what happened there...It was too superficial; it didn't give me the depth I needed to understand.

it had things that could have been better, in the story, in the characters, and in the acting..

but I enjoyed it enough to write my first ever review anywhere..

Lovely Runner is the kind of drama that starts off looking like a cute time-travel romcom and somehow ends up fully wrecking you in the best way. it’s funny, fluffy, emotional, and way more addictive than it has any right to be. the chemistry is honestly one of the biggest reasons this drama works so well — Kim Hye-yoon and Byeon Woo-seok make the whole thing feel alive, and their relationship is the kind that keeps you hooked even when you already know your sleep schedule is gone.

what makes it stand out is that it doesn’t just rely on romance alone. there’s actually a decent amount of heart, suspense, and tension underneath all the sweetness, so it never feels completely empty or pointless. the time travel setup could have been messy, but it mostly works because the drama knows exactly what it wants to be: a heartfelt, emotional ride with enough humor to keep it from getting too heavy. it’s the type of story that makes you smile, scream, and then suddenly get way too attached to fictional people.

that said, it’s not perfect. some parts can feel a little repetitive, and if you’re not into the whole “fate, destiny, and saving someone over and over again” thing, it might wear you down a bit. there are also moments where the plot leans hard into melodrama, and not everyone will love how dramatic it gets. but honestly, that’s also part of why people got so obsessed with it. it knows how to make you feel something, and that matters more than being overly clever.

overall, Lovely Runner is one of those dramas that hits exactly where it needs to. it’s sweet without being boring, emotional without feeling fake, and romantic in a way that actually makes sense for the characters. not groundbreaking, not flawless, but definitely one of the most enjoyable k-dramas of its kind. easy to see why so many people loved it.

An Atmospheric Story That Blends Mystery with a Poignant Exploration of Justice and Human Nature

Wow. When I first started, I wasn't expecting to be blown away. I just thought it would be nice to find a short costume drama since most are much longer, and I liked several of Bai Yufan's previous performances. He seems to gravitate toward serious projects with strong scripts and layered storytelling, so I figured my chances of finding something I'd enjoy were pretty high if he was cast. And I feel like that's exactly what I got.

This drama explores justice and injustice, obsession and fate, accountability, and how even good people can make misguided decisions. By the end, it didn't feel like anyone truly won, and coming to terms with that made for an incredibly poignant experience. It was a genuinely dynamic watch for me.

I especially loved how much attention the production team paid to every detail. From the way the scenery, lighting, and settings established the tone to the careful use of sound—whether it was the crunch of gravel beneath their feet or the gentle rush of the stream as they fished—I didn't just watch this drama, I experienced it. I also loved how the narrative played with different timelines, deepening the intrigue as it moved back and forth between the past and present, gradually revealing what had happened. It was a gripping story centered on ordinary people living ordinary lives, yet it left a profound and lasting impression.
