heartwarming story

i watched this with low to no expectation at all. i was just looking for something light with fewer episodes. I made the right choice. This is a good one. storywise it's quite interesting and different (what if you can meet your mom when she was young and learn what she's like and befriens her?) Acting is pretty good too. the characters are interesting. i would've give it a higher rating if not for the college years and a few new, annoying and unimportant character. if you're looking for something like and heartwarming without too much focus on the romance side, i would recommend this one

Korean version of the Umbrella Academy but BETTER!

This drama is for those who enjoy something different from the usual romantic and chaebol based stories.

The story evolves around a group of children of former NIS agents who were born with superpower. Their abilities were constrained by their parents' desire to protect their children from getting seized by the NIS director.

The drama is divided into three parts: the first focuses on the children; the second part on the lives of their parents; and the third part is about the the children being hunted by the North Korean spies.

I dropped this drama last year but I rewatched on 29 June 2024 after watching a Facebook video about the romance between Kim Doo Shik and Lee My Hun. I love the chmistry between these two actors.

I enjoyed this drama very much which is rare because I dislike scifi dramas. This one stands out.

Funny and entertainting

This drama is a remake of a Taiwanese tv drama with the same title but I prefer this Korean version.

The story is simple ie. the FL and the ML were both drunk and slept together. A few months later, the girl found out she was pregnant and the ML decided to marry her because he wanted the baby after hearing the heartbeat of the foetus.

The drama is entertaining and is for those who enjoy light comedy dramas.

The more you don't know, the better it is!

I personally watched this for tao because i am such a big fan but basically i have no idea regarding the plot except for rinka, the wedding planner met the weird guy ; tomu.

surprisingly, there are a lot of depth and references here and there for me who just expecting it is just another serial killer thriller movie.

tsuchiya tao did great as always !! i think this may the first time i didnt see her smile much in a film :')

for sakuma who is a rookie actor, he also did well and matched with all the senior actors. well done, sakkun!

i recommend you to avoid any spoilers as much as you can so you can experience the value of this movie.

Main couple Mia?

I’m watching this after the Korean adaptation so I was aware of some of the plot, however the Thai version had a way heavier focus on the side couple of Fight and Tutor which I didn’t really care for. they were cute sure but I was more interested in the main couples development but they felt even more like the side couple here and the main plot felt lost because of it. it wasn’t unwatchable but i can’t say I enjoyed it fully. overall it has a cute story based on a web novel I believe, the Korean version I think I liked more just because it felt more fluid with the main couples development.

Great Thriller K-Drama of 2024

At first, I wasn't exactly sure if I was going to watch the series without skipping parts. The acting and production is amazing, but if I was being honest, I was only here after knowing about Jaechan's role.

Yet, as I decided to watch more of the existing episodes, I started to get invested into the story and the casts aswell which led me to finishing the series until its last airing date.

I can say that the time I spent watching was worth it. The casts did so well with expressing their characters, and the storyline was definitely smooth in my opinion. Lastly, the ending is 💗

Fluff and candy

Earlier today, I came upon two reviews for this drama, two reviews with completely opposite take on it i.e. one loved it while the other one found it boring. I did not need more in order to watch it and form my own opinion. Which is between the two: it was not boring but rather superficial, not great but mercifully short, easy to watch and they did not waste time on silly subplots and even sillier misunderstandings between the leads.

But firstly, I would like to thank @Nicksden for the subs and for the explanatory notes!

The story follows childhood acquaintances: japanese inn owner's son and the inn's chef's daughter. They fall for each other as kids but their respective social status forbids them from any closer contact. Until, one evening, he accompanies her home and is seen leaving so a scandal breaks out and he takes the opportunity to offer to marry her and at the same time escaping an arranged marriage. And all of this is only the first episode. Out of six: the next five episodes are a bit slower as they deal with them getting to know each other and dating while newly-weds.

It is a cute, short drama. The leads are nice and as usual there are not mean or evil characters. Well I guess a shoujo manga is for romantic young girls. Everyone is nice: when he overhears rumours about his marriage being fake, he acts upon it immediately and takes her out on a date. There are a couple of "suspenseful" moments: a test meal for her and the visit from the estranged brother for him but even those are sorted out in the same episode they appear.

The plot is not very complicated but I would not go as far and say, as they did in the comments on the drama's page, that it was "an excuse to have hot people kiss a lot and be cute together. they wrote the plot around that 🤣". I wish they did that because if you are looking for hot people kissing, you should look elsewhere! There is a grand total of 4 chaste (=fish) kisses and a bit of skin (ankle, leg, shoulder: him in the shower and one make out scene!) shown throughout the drama with the consummation of marriage left for the last minute of the last episode and under the final credits. I usually do not care about these scenes but I read the comment before I watched this so I paid attention and looked actively for hot people kissing.

There was one thing I absolutely hated in this drama but which is something frequently seen in asian dramas so I guess it must be cultural: women falling over and screaming when they see a handsome man go by. It is the ultimate cringe moment for me! I know that asian cultures put a huge stress on appearance and that the beauty is the most important asset one can have but I am finding it difficult to understand this kind superficiality within such rich cultures.

I did not like the cinematography very much: I watched the first episode in high quality and it was too sharp, to clear and eventually too cold! Other episodes looked better, a bit softer but maybe the video quality was lower too. I don't know but it made me realize that I prefer when the images are fuzzy, not too sharp because it gives the drama (or a film) a dreamy feel and it becomes a vector for our escape from reality. And that's what the entertainment is supposed to be in my book!

One more important thing: I want those star shaped candies. They look so pretty and yummy!

In the recommendation section on this drama's page, you will find two dramas with the similar plot but a lot heavier if you do not enjoy light and fluffy! This one is a perfect Sunday watch: short, sweet, cute and short!

The main actor was a support actor in Utsukushii Kare (and he gave me a severe SLS) and I couldn't help being reminded of that drama every time I watched the intro here because there were yellow bath ducks in it. Did they do it on purpose, or were there yellow ducks in the original manga for this drama too, I wonder?

"The color of love provides the meaning of life and art"

Drawing Closer is the latest tearjerker from writer Tomoko Yoshida whose works include Love Like the Falling Petals, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Tomorrow I Will Date Yesterday's You.

If you've watched those excellent movies before, you'll likely feel the same way about this as you did with them. Consider this your warning to have lots of tissues around before you dive in. This movie will absolutely wreck you with it's emotional portrayal of resilience and living in the moment.

The cutest and almost perfect 2024 BL -If only they stick with the school-based concept

It was one of the cutest BL series this year that made me feel the butterflies, not until the downfall happened during the last few episodes. Despite being rookies, Sea and Keen played their respective roles very diligently. Kang and Moo are indeed a couple of babies that are too fluffy and loveable bringing another set of sunshine to the audience. I also love their distinct personality; Moo is too direct and confident while Kang is too caring and mature.

Almost everyone in the show is likable except for one. Potae is not hateable that much but he is my least favorite character. It would be more acceptable for me if Payos ended up with Jang and not the other one around. Despite this, giving everyone a partner at the end was unnecessary but ain’t that feel too pushover. I am happy to see Shone having his endgame during the last episode.

As I said earlier, I sincerely enjoyed the show during its earlier episodes. The time skip and chasing of dreams was too rushed for me and the sequence of scenes kept getting boring. The plots are too common with no sign of uniqueness from other shows. It does affect my overall rating from a high rate to only landing an average score. Nevertheless, Only Boo felt like another youth romance with a perfect start but with a bad wrap finale.

Better than most BL series out there

20 minutes of short film can make you feel too much if it's written well, and this film was the perfect example of it. The storyline is heartbreaking yet beautiful because of its realistic essence. "The screen is the only place where you allow me to love you." This quote by the character played by Bible really hit hard. Garn loves Tul as a lover, for a long time, but Tul wants something else. He just wants a normal family, a normal kid, a normal life. He doesn't love Garn as a lover; his love for him isn't in a romantic way, and that's slowly eating Garn up. Knowing that the other person will never love you in a romantic way but still being with them for years is a true type of heartbreaking horror, like it's even worse than a normal heartbreak and being lonely. "I can love your daughter as well." Gosh, this quote even makes everything worse but it's adorable at the same time. For all the years he continued to love Tul, and now when Tul finally got what he always wanted (a family), Garn even decided to love his daughter as he watches his happiness from a distance. He was happy for him, but he wasn't happy with him.

At the end, he died with the same love for Tul, the same hopeless, unrequited love, and Tul decided to name his daughter after Garn to always have his memory. Heart-wrenching.The script was good, the acting was effortless, and the chemistry was nice.

To be honest, I kind of wish it were a series because I felt some parts of the story needed to have a spotlight, for example, exploring their relationship in depth and so on. Overall, it was a good and definitely well-acted short film.

My favorite

This has become my favorite, over 25/21 because of the happy ending. There was so much tugging at my heart strings that the happy ending made it all worth it.

First of all, the lyrics and songs really made a difference for how the scenes brought out certain emotions that were hidden beneath subconscious for me. I lost a love partner years ago, and the lyrics from rain shower would have me in tears every single time. I would, really would, have gone back in time to protect him as well, in this lonely world. Our time together was a gift from heaven to me. 😭

I easily watched it for the second time after I watched another show in between. There were details I skipped over or wasn't paying attention to the first time I watched it.

The emoting of the ML is especially real. The female lead irritated me at times with what felt like a fake cute smile. She honestly does better without the high school bangs lol. No points taken off though, didn't affect the overall plot.

The last 2 episodes were so surprising. In fact the entire show is laid out with surprising scenes and story lines here and there. It was very entertaining and oftentimes hilarious.

This was a brilliant show and will be hard to top.

super good chinese drama

I started watching this drama because I saw a video on YouTube and it seemed like a nice Chinese drama. Normally I'm not a fan of Chinese dramas, but this time I am! I liked this drama because of its easy and interesting plot. I also like the actors. The leads had some chemistry, the kissing scenes were decent. Ling Shi doesn't really want him at first even though he really wanted to. He did his best to convince her, but after a while he really succeeded.

The backgrounds were always super beautiful and professionally made. Each episode doesn't last that long, about 15 minutes, which I think is great. If I wanted to take a little break, I could just watch 1 episode. The OST was also super good, normally I'm not really a fan of the OST, but this time I really am.

A Dragged-Out Disappointment: This 2010-Era Drama Falls Short on Chemistry and Execution

Honestly, I started watching this drama without knowing its production year, but it quickly felt like something from 2010. The production quality and acting had a distinct 2010s vibe. Overall, the drama was poorly written and reminiscent of a telenovela. I barely managed to finish it, skipping through most parts of the episodes due to its dragged-out pacing. There was no chemistry between the main leads, which was surprising given the storyline centered around a child and marriage. Their interactions were limited to hand-holding and hugging, making them seem more like friends than romantic partners. Ultimately, this drama was a huge disappointment, especially considering the potential of its storyline.
